The NY Times is unexpectedly fair and balanced in covering Trump's suspension of 'war games' with our South Korean ally.
Ending the joint military exercises could help Mr. Kim persuade his people, especially hard-line generals, to agree to denuclearize and focus on building the country’s poor economy, said Cheong Seong-chang, a senior analyst at the Sejong Institute in South Korea. Still, Mr. Trump’s announcement stunned many South Koreans.
Well, yes. Even iron-fisted dictators have to deal with rival factions. The NoKo military-industrial complex is surely at least as empowered as its US counterparts so this easily-reversed gesture may give Little Rocket Man some running room.
That said, heaven help us if Obama had tried something similar. And the usual questions remain as to whether Trump has the impulse control, patience and team-building skills to lead the US down this long and winding road.
But as Byron York notes, it is not as if the old playbook was producing yardage. C'mon, maybe one day historians will be writing about the Age of Trump, In a good way!

Two young boys walked into a drug store one day, picked out a box of tampons and proceeded to the checkout counter.
The pharmacist at the counter asked the older boy, "Son, how old are you?”
“Eight”, the boy replied.
The man continued, “Do you know what these are used for?"
The boy replied, “Not exactly, but they aren't for me. They're for him. He's my brother. He's four."
"Oh, really?" the pharmacist replied with a grin.
"Yes." the boy said. "We saw on TV that if you use these, you would be able to swim, play tennis and ride a bike. Right now, he can't do none of that."

It will be interesting to hear stories about how American's are recieve in Europe, for example, this holiday period and how they respond to their critics. In the past, it was just simply to smile and pass on by or just eat you baguette, drink your wine and leave. I have a feeling there will be a Trump effect this year.

Howie Carr reading new Official numbers showing, If I hear correctly, that 50% of illegals in America are on some sort of Welfare Program, whereas only 32% of the native Born population receives Welfare.
Howie is obviously a racist since he says he does not want a single illegal on Govt Welfare.
Now Howie reading this breaking news, and kibbutz's some nice lines throughout:
"Senate Intel Committee Aide (Wolfe) pleads "Not Guilty" to lying to FBI in Classified Leaks Probe" This is this guy James Wolfe who is 58 and he's had a 26 year old girlfriend who works for the New York Times. His Lawyer has asked for a "Gag Order" on the President of the United States from commenting on the fact that this guys been leaking out Anti-Trump fake news to his girlfriend at the New York Times, who's young enough to be his granddaughter, I keep repeating. So Trump told reporters last week: "I believe strongly in the Freedom of the Press. I'm a big, big believer in the Freedom of the Press but I'm also a believer in Classified Information---it has to remain Classified. And that includes Comey and his band of thieves who were leaking Classified information all over the place, so I'm a big believer in Freedom of the Press but I'm also a believer you cannot leak Classified information."
Howie continues: "So now this guy who's been leaking all this information to make Trump and his supporters like Carter Page look bad, claiming that they were meeting with Russian spies, when actually he was a cooperating witness for the FBI, now he's (Wolfe's) complaining about people talking about him. At least they're talking publicly about him. He was laking information and BTW, his girlfriend Ali Watkins, who's now on vacation from the NYTimes, she admitted to the relationship with Grandpa Wolfe. But she denied that he was her source. But the indictment appears to contradict that claim and in one text message Mister Wolfe tells his 30 year Jr girlfriend that he "always tried to give you as much information as I could and do the right thing with it so you could get that scoop before anyone else."
That kind of puts the lie to her comment that she wasn't getting any info from him."
So is it who's or whose?

It has devolved into a cult. Primary voters in the Republican Party have devolved into a Trumpist cult.”
That’s a word that’s getting tossed around a lot these days. Retiring Senator Bob Corker, Republican of Tennessee, opined that his party is in the thrall of “cult-like behavior,” while longtime Republican activist and cable TV megastar Rick Wilson says that the word cult “isn’t strong enough” to describe what’s going on. This makes Corker the moderate, I guess.
Getty Images
Now, to be clear, I don’t disagree with any of this. We are seeing politics on one side of the aisle turning into a cult, but, alas, that cult is modern Republicanism. Trumpism is merely one breakaway sect of it, and, truth be told, it hasn’t broken away all that far. After all, Corey Stewart got nominated for the U.S. Senate from Virginia not because of his loyalty to the president*, but as an adherent to a far older cult with which the GOP was quite content to be a part of over the previous four decades: the cult of the Confederate States of America.

Another example: as the results were rolling in Tuesday night, Congressman Steve King, the Republican crackpot who represents the Fourth Congressional District of Iowa, took it upon himself to retweet a famous British neo-Nazi named Mark Collett. From the Times of Israel:
“Europe is waking up… Will America… in time?” King, a Representative from Iowa, tweeted on Tuesday, linking to an anti-immigration tweet from Mark Collett. Collett is one of Britain’s most high-profile white nationalists and is a self-proclaimed Nazi sympathizer. He is the former chairman of the youth division of the British National Party, a British ultra-nationalist political movement. Collett was ousted from his party in 2010 over an alleged plot to murder the BNP’s-then leader. He was questioned by police and released on bail..

Soccer is a terrible sport for tv. I never watch it on tv. When our Levon was playing on grade school and middle school traveling teams we'd go watch their prelude games in Spartan stadium on nights the Earthquakes played. Those pro games were off the hook. It's a much faster game live.
The last pro football game I went to in 84 was so slow due to tv timeouts. Much better game on tv.
Baseball is better live unless televised. Then the tv timeouts turn it into a yawn fest. Plus tv spends more than too much time on candids featuring all the nad scratching and seed spitting going on in the dugout.

Was making my late lunch with Ol Yeller in the background... 1st hour covering the contrast between The Bath House Rat's "Iran Deal" and the forthcoming TREATY with NOKO.
Occurs to me that we are likely never going to see the NYT publish an infographic featuring "The Iran Deal" side by side with the NOKO Treaty.... namely, the respective processes each CIC used to achieve their objective around nuclear security etc.
But it sure will be nice to see Wictor, Sundance, Atkisson et alia do so.... just ram it home day after day in the runup to and aftermath of the Treaty signing.
Also occurs to me that POTUS had plenty of pre-conditions for this venture with NOKO. Plenty--- beginning with it's constitutional viability.
Remember The Rat's gloating (paraphrase): "Oh I'm willing to sit down with Iran without any pre-conditions."
Ya ya ya GFY.

Dredging the corpse of Bourdain:
Read this morning in a passing comment cited in an article about the dead gourmand--- Bourdain had overcome a heroin addiction.
Splains a lot about his chosen exit strategy.
Have known more than a few survivors of that ride.
Even if they went on to build a gainful life in some profession, they were still bored as hell with all of the cash and prizes.
One ol boy summed it up best: "Nothing else compares." He said his life was hell in between rides; but the ride? "Nothing else compares."
Another said: "Every day was a dress rehearsal for the end. I controlled all of that. That whole life was one big Eff You."
I don't need a reason about any of the celeb suiciders. Really. But when a former heroin addict takes its own life---- it isn't a surprise.
Makes more sense than the "free bird" love affair with the Little Tomato. At 61? That kitchen wasn't blastin the kind of heat on him that it was likely doin before he figured out he could own anybody he wanted.
Add to it the vacuousness of the food porn business... don't get me started.
Speaking of food porn...a dark but hilarious satire of it is in the film: "The Dinner" with Richard Gere... a nice cross of elite food and mental illness, political narcissm, and people without shelter.

From the Chi-Town link:
"“They would eliminate meaningful due process for federal employees, which are essential to American democracy, and they would make it all but impossible to provide representation to workers that unions are required by law to provide.”"
Are federal employee unions "required" by law to exist in the first place? Rhetorical question.
I'll wager that POTUS signed those 3 orders knowing they'd curry a suit. The unions' Puppeteers would fight and win.
And when they turn around gloating as the smug victors "who beat Trump", will see OMB's Mick Mulvaney standing their with a few reams of proposed cuts(which are imminent before 2024) that will X out a significant number of the unions' "rank and file."
A significant diversion of resources to a hollow issue only to set the stage for "And now this..."
Mr Friday will be regretting this happened on his watch.
"Those orders aim to make it easier to fire federal workers, limit collective bargaining negotiations, and limit the time union employees can spend on official time, a practice where agencies compensate employees for their time spent on representational matters."
Wrong.
"Those orders aim" to open a negotiation Friday cannot win, because he'll not have the money, people power, or savvy to negotiate a decapitation strike by a President who read President Reagan's playbook on how easy it is to fire employees and de-certify their union with a stroke of a pen.
Trump might not follow the exact course--- but where there is a will, there is way for a President to do just about anything long enough to re-vamp "business as usual." (The Rat did it with the Congressional budgeting process.)
Why would POTUS waste his steam and political capital arguing with Mr. Friday over the arrangement of deck chairs on the Titanic?
POTUS will save who he can and let the hulk fall dramatically from view to a deep dark place forever.
Thanks, Chi-town. Hope you're Chicago summer is a beaut.

The ongoing destruction of American families was pilot-tested in Black communities.
And it continues today by virtue of the same Leftist ploy which crept in during the advent of Great Society legislation under one of the oldest living racists at the time (LBJ) and the Vietnam War.
To this day, that school of techno-bureaucrats work the same ploy with various elements of a would-be family: "single moms" (we care!), "at risk youth" (we really care!), "infant cheeldrin" (we SO SO SO care!), "transgendered youth" (we care?), etc etc etc.
But of course the meme is "evil Republicans don't care about you like we do."

Mike Huckabee: ...It was an extraordinary and historic moment, and of course it's fair to say we don't know what the long term result will be, will Kim Jung Un keep the agreement. But Lou here's the big difference. If he doesn't, Donald Trump is not Barack Obama. Nor is he George W Bush or Bill Clinton. If he thinks that the response of Jim Mattis, John Bolton, Mike Pompeo, and Donald Trump is going to be one of "Oh, you didn't keep the bargain? Well no problems." I think Kim Jung Un has the clear understanding that when Donald Trump says that Fire and Fury will be the result of a continued Nuclear Program, I think he totally understands that President Trump is not joking about it.
Lou Dobbs: One cannot imagine Mike Pompeo for example being dispatched by the President to tell Kim Jung Un, if he were to violate the deal, the basic agreement, "I'm Sorry", as John Kerry said to the Ayatolah's when they took our Service members Prisoner in the Persian Gulf. "I'm sorry" is still one of the great Non-Sequiturs of American Diplomacy.
Mike Huckabee: Lou, I can tell you this. President Trump won't be sending James Taylor over to strum "You've Got A Friend."

Nixon told him that the investigation must be thorough and complete, though there might be some areas of national security that would have to be left alone. "You must pursue this investigation even if it leads to the president," Nixon said, and his eyes met Richardson's. "I'm innocent. You've got to believe I'm innocent. If you don't, don't take the job."
Vastly relieved, Richardson nodded his acceptance: Nixon, he thought, would never set such an investigation in motion unless he was innocent.
"The important thing is the presidency," Nixon continued. "If need be, save the presidency from the president."
Richardson, writing on a legal pad, paraphrased the thought: "If the monster is me, save the country."
Almost immediately he appointed his old Harvard law professor, Archibald Cox -- who had served as President John F. Kennedy's solicitor general -- as special prosecutor to handle Watergate, promising him full independence. Cox set about investigating, and three months later he subpoenaed nine of the White House tapes.
Nixon did not take kindly to this. White House chief of staff Alexander Haig warned Richardson that the president might fire Cox if he weren't reined in, shaking Richardson's faith in the president's innocence. "If we have to have a confrontation, we will have it," Haig told him.
A few days later, Haig said he had advised the president to turn over the tapes, but Nixon had refused. The president would resign first. Haig told Richardson he didn't know whether the president was hiding something or whether he was merely concerned about the principle of confidentiality, but he had never seen Nixon so worked up. "It makes you wonder what must be on those tapes," said Haig, who himself was only a few months into the job.
For now, Richardson decided to give Nixon the benefit of the doubt while he oversaw his department's investigation of Vice President Spiro Agnew, who had been accepting illegal cash payoffs from contractors for years, starting when he was a Maryland official.
In October, Richardson was leaving an Oval Office briefing about the Agnew situation when Nixon called after him. "Now that we have disposed of that matter, we can go ahead and get rid of Cox." .

Alston and the entire UN can emulate Lewinsky on all of us. What part of historic low unemployment and self reliance does he not understand? (Yeah, besides all of it).

An interesting thread on what we would expect to see if Trump was not going to prosecute, or if he was going to give the criminals small sentences. Recommend reading this.

Is "cult" the new buzzword for Trump supporters? Can we expect a montage from Rush of that term being bandied about?

Momto2,
You can add to that list Kristol and Goldberg.
It's leftist stuff in order to get us ashamed of liking and supporting the president. They can all go to hell - I never heard anyone talking about the "Clinton cult" or the "Obama cult."
