GOOD NEWS ANECDOTE
Yesterday was heading to the BART (subway) station in Berkeley. All along downtown were freshly applied posters, stickers and signboards for some event sponsored by the RCP -- the Revolutionary Communist Party. This is in no way remarkable -- the RCP constantly plasters Berkeley with their posters and signs. You always see them everywhere. But here's where the story gets interesting:
As I got tot he BART station entrance, a mid-20s bearded white guy -- an obvious new recruit in the RCP cult -- was standing there handing out flyers to passersby, saying, "Come learn about socialism and how it's the REAL solution to our problems!"
Walking directly behind me were two tall Cal student boys who had been talking about the classes at UC Berkeley. Just as I passed the RCP dude and started down the stairs to the subway station, he again repeated to the group behind me, "Come learn about socialism and how it's the REAL solution to our problems!"
Guess what happened next? One of the Cal students yelled at the guy angrily, "FUCK socialism! FUCK communism! Communism is responsible for 100 million deaths since World War II! Get those fuckin' flyers out of my face!"
And the yelling continued as I made my way down to the train.
Made my day.
The tide is turning -- even in Berkeley. I have never ever EVER heard anyone talk back to the communist leafletters in Berkeley. Until yesterday.

Great questions. The changes are constant. I won't call them improvements -- things get more complicated. I still wish I had Windows 7 instead of 10. I wish I didn't have to submit things in Office 365 Microsoft 16 instead of Microsoft 2003. The menus, toolbar, options were easy and streamlined on '03. When I open 16 I sometimes get anxious just looking at all of the options. And, somehow I have two One Drives, one on my regular email a/c and one on an a/c I opened on Outlook -- and I don't remember opening but one. :(
I never had any kind of training for all of the programs, well, I did take a Lotus class one time at our community college, enrolled in another computer class and dropped out when we needed exponentiation, I must have sailed by that when I was in school. I went back to work part-time after our children were in college and the first attorney I worked for didn't have a computer, he still provided a word processor.
At home, my husband bought me a Tandy from Radio Shack and I started creating things. I've got an Underwood electric typewriter mind in a Microsoft (Ferrari) World. :)
Sometimes when the computer guys on here start talking about things, I'll think, I wish I could have gone to college and learned all of that (but we were paying for college for two children.)
And, yes, to all of you whizzes, some things are so much, much easier. I realize that. When I started working, I used to have to make six carbon copies, (reader's file, section's file, and men in the field or other departments) -- I became an expert at correcting typos. If something went to a vice-president, I used to get sick to my stomach trying not to make any errors.

Joan, confusion in the new technology? Too many options?
A couple things drive that.
One is the "feature checklist comparison" method of choosing. System integrators and analysts do that to make themselves look smart. Simple scheme, like asking kids if they want soda fountains in the back seat of the new family car. Everyone checks yes on everything, so the thing with the longest feature list wins.
Second, from above, usefulness of features never enters into the decision. The integrators / analysts bill more hours if they teach everyone everything. Then if something doesn't do anything, they bill even more to program around it.
Daddy's firm is stuck paying $ millions for #2 after paying $ millions on #1 to choose Office/360 over Google Apps (which is just as bloated). All so daddy can no longer check his email before transporting packages by flying them where they need to be. That little activity is not important to this project. Guarantee the idiot in charge at daddy's firm will get a bonus and become the next CIO somewhere else. That is the important part of the project. The idiot will then hire the same integrator / analyst at the new job. That is the other important part of the project.
I hate analysts / integrators. They are as useful as herpes in a girlfriend.

About learning to use computer programs, lots of times I find myself doing things on the right side of my brain instead of my left. And, that's not the way it's supposed to be. The right side is the arty, dreamy intuitive side, isn't it? I'll look it up in a minute. I think the left side is the 'hard facts', logical side.
I once had a book called 'Drawing On The Right Side of The Brain' and learned I could draw intricate things 'upside down' -- there was an illustration of a Chinese man, very elaborate. The author said, 'try and draw him', then a little later, she said, 'turn that picture upside down and draw him' -- when I did that, (of course with her instructions to relax, not worry, not trying to draw him correctly,) and turned my drawing right-side up, he was almost perfect. :) Eureka. Really fun book. Later, I read another book called 'Writing on The Right Side of The Brain.' It had fun exercises in it.
There's an Adobe Sharp program that I play with sometimes, and I couldn't tell you how to do it, but I've made some fun little videos using it -- and there weren't really instructions. I guess most were just sequencing -- maybe just a little logic there. :)

Repub Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL) tells Lou that today is the first time he has heard Colleagues discussing the removal of Speaker Ryan as Speaker for his lack of Leadership and lack of support for House Members trying desperately to get this info out to the American people instead of working full time to cover it up.

I've missed a lot today so I am surprised that when Lou asks Ed Rollin's about the Elections last night and what he learned and what he advises, the only real advice Rollins is giving is that some Republican in the House has to rise up on the Floor and demand a vote to have Paul Ryan be voted out of the Speakership ASAP.
Rollins: ...Ryan I'm sure has a sycophant staff around him saying Mr Speaker, Mr Speaker. I think it is very important for us to have an Ex-Speaker at this point in time...Any member can stand up on the Floor tomorrow in the conference and make a motion to Vacate The Chair...Republicans have to understand, I tell you this with 50 years of experience, they are in a war, a war like I've never seen. They can hold this Congress, they can expand a little bit, but only, only if they have some Leadership and they have someone out there who can lead them.

"My fellow Americans: Last night, when I spoke with you about the fall of Rome, I knew at that moment that troops of the United States and our allies were crossing the Channel in another and greater operation. It has come to pass with success thus far.
And so, in this poignant hour, I ask you to join with me in prayer:
