Granted they have the MSM on their team, but the ability of the left to focus on shiny objects to distract from important things wears me out too. Just as the IG snowball started downhill...

If constitutionalists had half the focus on the big picture the left has we would not be in the mess we are in right now.

Jane, I have zero issue with your questions. One of the best ways to learn if we don't understand something or are curious is to ask questions. Ask away. If my one feeling ever gets hurt or irritated, I'll let everybody know. :)

There was an engineer who had an exceptional gift for fixing all things mechanical. After serving his company over 30 years, he retired. Several years later the company contacted him with a problem they were having with one of their multi-million dollar machines.

They had tried everything and everyone else to get the machine fixed, but to no avail. In desperation, they called on the retired engineer who had solved so many of their problems in the past. The engineer reluctantly took the challenge. He spent a day studying the huge machine. At the end of the day, he marked a small "x" in chalk on a particular component of the machine and proudly stated, "This is where your problem is."

The part was replaced and the machine worked perfectly again. The company received a bill for $50,000 from the engineer for his service. They demanded an itemized accounting of his charges.

The engineer responded with the following account:

Chalk: $1.00

Knowing where to put the 'X': $49,999.00

Department spokesman Capt. Roger Antonio says Arrington was a passenger in a car struck by a driver traveling the wrong direction. Arrington and the woman she was with, Jacquelin Goff, were both transported to MUSC with serious injuries. There were no other occupants in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

The driver of the other vehicle died at the scene.

Arrington's campaign manager, Michael Mule, tells News 2 that Arrington got out of surgery early Saturday morning, and remains at the hospital with her husband. He says Arrington sustained a fracture to her back and several broken ribs. She also has injuries which required a major surgery to remove a portion of her small intestine and potion of her colon. The main artery in her legs has a partial collapse and will require a stint. Mule says additional surgeries will be required, including another one likely on Saturday. Arrington is expected to be hospitalized for the next two weeks.

Good luck Candidate Arrington for a quick recovery.

If it turns out the dead wrongway driver was an Illegal Alien I wonder if it will garner any Press, or if they'll bury that factoid deeper than the Marianas Trench?

The border battle has burned the hottest this past 10 days or so but it is just the most recent example of pages in the progressive Democrat playbook. Yale University professor William Graham Sumner identified the “forgotten man” category of American citizen in his 1876 essay as:

“As soon as A observes something which seems to him wrong, from which X is suffering, A talks it over with B, and A and B then propose to get a law passed to remedy the evil and help X. Their law always proposes to determine what C shall do for X, or, in better case, what A, B, and C shall do for X… What I want to do is to look up C. I want to show you what manner of man he is. I call him the Forgotten Man. Perhaps the appellation is not strictly correct. He is the man who never is thought of…. I call him the forgotten man… He works, he votes, generally he prays—but he always pays…“

That much can be said, not just about taxation, but US government policy overall.

The forgotten man is Joe Lunchbucket (and being a metaphor, “he” exists as male or female). The person who tries to live within the law, work hard, take care of his family and his responsibilities to others and generally focus on his life and leaves others alone.

Since philosophy was invented, the unanswerable questions that philosophy tries to answer are these: What does it take to lead a good life? What does living a “good life” mean? If you pour those questions through the filter of America’s founding documents, you will find that the Founders believed there wasn’t a concrete answer. They believe the answer was an individual one and was realized by trying, by recognizing our mistakes and correcting them. The believed that living a “good life” meant being you while not interfering with someone else being them.

Progressive Democrats do two things that infuriate. First, they tend to assign the quality of nobility to conditions having nothing to do with being noble – to them, simply being poor, a non-citizen of the member of a protected class or race imbues one with a right to special treatment. Of course, this doesn’t mean there aren’t noble people in these groups, it is just that being a member does not mean one possesses fine personal qualities or high moral principles and ideals.

Secondly, they assign ignobility to anyone who opposes the progressive Democrat agenda by assuming those holding those positions have the evilest of motivations and dismissing the noble things these people do every day. It doesn’t matter that a person works hard, takes care of their family, goes to church, helps their community and respects the rights of others – if they oppose the progressive agenda, they are unworthy of consideration.

The former is highlighted, protected and celebrated.
The latter become the “Forgotten Man” and are dismissed, abused and ignored.

If you are a Forgotten Man, you are viewed as a drone, a resource to be exploited. You are crude, unintelligent and should be seen and not heard. Your voice is somehow less powerful that those of the progressive pet classes – you are to sit down, shut up and keep paying. Just stay in the shadows. You are dismissed as a walking hate crime for opposing “humanitarian” actions at the border (which means unfettered, uncontrolled migration), for questioning the growth of the welfare state or the limits of government. You are somehow less human than progressives and their pet population segments. Democrats want the forgotten to stay forgotten.

There are many more intelligent analyses of why Trump won in 2016 than mine but I think this is it. The Forgotten Men believed he would bring them out of the shadows and into the light. They believed he would end the collective amnesia of the true nobility of America and the forgotten would no longer be so.

WE ARE CLOSE TO SOMEONE IN THE TRUMP CIRCLE BEING MURDERED
Published June 21, 2018 | By Douglas MacKinnon

Does someone from the Trump family, the Trump Cabinet, or even the Trump administration have to be assaulted or worse, killed, before we accept the fact that a growing number from the far-left have put a rhetorical bounty on their heads?

If has-been actor Peter Fonda suggesting Barron Trump be “ripped from his mother’s arms and put in a cage with pedophiles” does not horrify you with the obscene brutality of its message, nothing ever will.

From this cauldron of bubbling and putrid hate filled from the twisted minds of enraged liberal politicians, “journalists,” entertainers, and academics, spews forth the dangerously deranged like Fonda who have proven there is no line they will not cross to inflict “punishment” and harm upon anyone connected with President Trump.

Beyond the terrifyingly rhetorical, is the real.

Anarchists from the Democratic Socialists of America just confronted Kirstjen Nielsen — only the head of the Department of Homeland Security entrusted with the massive job of protecting us all — in a restaurant in Washington, D.C., and forced her to flee.

They assailed her with her full security detail around her. Let that sink in for a second.

These anarchists not only surrounded the Secretary of Homeland Security at her table, but simultaneously put the word out for more support.

The election of Donald Trump has so poisoned and completely unhinged the minds of many on the left, that rational and respectful debate is no longer possible.

They view the norms of society and civility as a weakness to exploit.

At least until the liberals who control Google, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube delete them to shield and excuse the lawlessness of those they ideologically support, there is example after example of these far-left zealots wishing and inciting violence against conservatives, Republicans, Christians, and invited speakers on campus as rage fills their eyes and spittle literally flies from their mouths.

Don’t take my word for it. Search for it while you can.

Beyond cowardly threatening a little boy in the White House (he later deleted the tweet and apologized for it), Peter Fonda is now encouraging the deranged to find out which schools the children of U.S. Immigration Agents attend so they can be terrified.

Fonda seems strangely fixated on children.

Aside from celebrities desperate for attention, the anarchist group Antifa is putting out the names, photos and addresses of ICE Agents to deliberately put their lives at risk.

These vile attacks and threats are hardly new.

Ivanka Trump and her children were not only confronted on an aircraft but then followed and harassed through the airport terminal.

EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt has been continually harassed, screamed at and even threatened in public and on aircraft.

Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos has been chased, screamed at in a restaurant and forced to turn back from events by enraged protesters.

It is only a matter of time, before these anarchists cross the final line.

Should that tragic day arrive, the blame will lie in large part with the liberal mainstream media, the entertainment community, irresponsible celebrities, academics, and the Democrats.

They not only unleashed these sick minds upon society with their own twisted anti-Trump diatribes, but condone their actions with their collective silence.

We are on the verge of someone in the Trump circle being murdered.

Douglas MacKinnon is a former White House and Pentagon official. This was published in today’s (6/21) Investors Business Daily.

"You are dashing my hopes that things are gonna get easier."

it gets better. may not be easy to field the long dark night of the soul phone calls that have come our way, there are ghosts mine wrestle with--some inspired by my road through life and some inspired by their own choices, but their responses to living as adults/young adults are getting better.

the key in my kids' life relative to our family circle was Mrs Kid and i becoming more skillful communicators. that took 13 years of practice between us. listening skills were very deficient.

we shared what we learned with them. and we practiced together. they are really solid communicators with finely tuned listening skills. they picked those up way earlier in life than Mrs Kid and i did. Oldest gained insights and began practicing at 20. #2 gained insights and practice at 17. #3 was 11.

bottom line is i don't have to carry their emotional water because they can narrate whatever part of their inner life needs it when they begin to shake and rattle in their high altitude lives.

and even though their ghosts might not fully disappear during this extended ramp up to mid-life, they can talk about those now with significant detachment; instead of erecting shrines to such things.

our siblings have been trying for the same kind of independence but haven't made the financial and spiritual investment in breaking the ghosting cycle. so their kids underperform emotionally and their practical life choices tend to leave them in less than optimal career and mating situations.

i guess as parents we have a choice--- clean out our attics and rooms or lose the emotional bandwidth to continue growing the inside life that keeps magnets off our moral and intellectual compasses. True North is within. if we can find that, then we can teach our kids to find their's.

and once they find it-- keep it.

from what you've shared i sense these charges of yours are strong and determined young spirits. high school can really be a "chaining" experience where they learn how influential friendships and acquaintances can be--- both negatively and positively.

when high school ends it seems they can breathe on their own once again. college is so very different for a strong young spirit. it's a challenging ride for us now with this empty nest--- but the reward comes from modeling for all three of "ours" how to move forward once role-identification shifts. not easy, but it's getting better.

i can tell that you honor the privilege of being their father.

Remarks to House Budget Committee by Congressman Tom McClintock

Amendment to House Budget Resolution

Mr. Chairman:

My amendment takes all the policy reforms in the budget resolution and writes those savings into the reconciliation instructions. This does not change a single recommendation that we have been debating. It simply implements them – about $3.55 trillion over ten years after removing interest payments and non-reconcilable items under the Byrd Rule.

During my eight years on this committee, my greatest frustration is that every year we make policy recommendations, and then claim that the budget will balance within the decade based on those recommendations. But we never implement them. And in those years, the debt has doubled and now threatens a fiscal crisis.

The budget act assumes that when the budget resolution sets limits on mandatory spending, it will also include the reconciliation instructions to the authorizing committees to make the statutory changes that are necessary to conform with the mandatory spending limits. The authorizing committees then have a deadline to transmit those changes back to the budget committee, and those changes are then automatically included in the reconciliation bill. If they fail to meet their deadline, the budget committee has the power to insert its own statutory language into the reconciliation bill.

I always hear that it’s the mandatory spending that’s out of control. Yet, it is easier to control mandatory spending than discretionary spending, because the reconciliation bill gets expedited consideration in the Senate, while the appropriations bills do not.

In the decade I’ve served in Congress, this committee has chosen NOT to place its policy recommendations in the reconciliation instructions. Instead, we promise them for next year and then pretend that the budget will balance in ten years. With these instructions, it WILL balance in ten years; without these instructions, it won’t.

This was the crux of my questions yesterday. We claim $5.4 trillion in mandatory savings over the next ten years, but we only provide instructions for $300 billion. That means we are five percent serious and 95 percent “just kidding.”

I want to emphasize, there is nothing in these instructions that isn’t already in the budget resolution. All the policies and savings are the same. The only difference is that this amendment places these savings into the reconciliation instructions where they will be implemented. It transforms these policy recommendations from promise to action.

We heard a lot of speeches yesterday about how dangerous the debt is becoming to the future of our nation. For many years we’ve promised mandatory spending reform and for many years we’ve always put it off until the next year.

The budget resolution is not an “aspirational” document. It is an operational document. The budget resolution is in reality the most powerful fiscal tool we have to control spending. But it must be used that way.

Let’s do something that is worthy of the trust our fellow citizens have given us. Clearly, most of our members can see the fiscal crisis looming ever larger in our country’s path – they said as much yesterday. If we can see the danger, and have within our hands the tools to avert that danger – there is no excuse for inaction.

That’s what this amendment is all about.

Anyone know what the guy named Ahmad Sarsour named just before that Kerner fellow on that subcommittee report cover does?

Anyone that's listened to the red squaw has to realize she's an academic fraud and a liar.

Tomorrow is Sunday. Time for a little church humor:)

A Sunday school teacher asked her class, "What was Jesus' mother's name?" One child answered, "Mary."
The teacher then asked, "Who knows what Jesus' father's name was?" A little kid said, "Verge."
Confused, the teacher asked, "Where did you get that?"
The kid said, "Well, you know, they are always talking about Verge n' Mary.''

***********
KIDS IN CHURCH
3-year-old Reese:
"Our Father, Who does art in heaven, Harold is His name.
Amen."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~
A little boy was overheard praying: "Lord, if you can't make me a better boy, don't worry about it. I'm having a real good time like I am."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~
After the christening of his baby brother in church, Jason sobbed all the way home in the back seat of the car. His father asked him three times what was wrong. Finally, the boy replied, "That preacher said he wanted us brought up in a Christian home, and I wanted to stay with you."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I had been teaching my three-year old daughter, Caitlin, the Lord's Prayer for several evenings at bedtime. She would repeat after me the lines from the prayer. Finally, she decided to go solo. I listened with pride as she carefully enunciated each word, right up to the end of the prayer: "Lead us not into temptation," she prayed, "but deliver us from E-mail.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One particular four-year-old prayed, "And forgive us our trash baskets as we forgive those who put trash in our baskets."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~
A Sunday school teacher asked her children as they were on the way to church service, "And why is it necessary to be quiet in church?" One bright little girl replied, "Because people are sleeping."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~

A wife invited some people to dinner. At the table, she turned to their six-year-old daughter and said, "Would you like to say the blessing?"
"I wouldn't know what to say," the girl replied.
"Just say what you hear Mommy say," the wife answered.
The daughter bowed her head and said, "Lord, why on earth did I invite all these people to dinner?"

matt - deplore me if you must

I think the stink of self righteousness is permeating everything the Left is doing today and the rest of us have had it.

The litany of insults will drive more norms, as they call us, to the polls than usual.

The polls and surveys all indicate that a broad majority of the population still support the Wall; still support legal immigration, and still support sending illegal immigrants back to their country of origin. And the Left's new mantra is to abolish ICE. The Customs and Immigration Department? Really?

This is truly batshit.

And so the media wind up their true believers higher and higher and they look loonier and loonier to the rest of us. The great blue wave of Marxism is, I think going to crash down on their heads.

It’s very sad that Nancy Pelosi and her sidekick, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, want to protect illegal immigrants far more than the citizens of our country. The United States cannot stand for this. We wants safety and security at our borders!

By the way, that typo will get a lot of retweets from the left.

All it makes me think of is Popeye saying, "That's all I can stands, I can't stands no more." LOL!

Guaranteed an egomaniac like Schoomer hates to be called Cryin' Chuck and Pelosi's sidekick.

I just finished having Chinese for lunch, including a fortune cookie. The fortune reads: you will be invited to a small gathering with lots of spicy conversation. I translate that as I’ll be dispatched to a verbal domestic this afternoon. Swell....

:)

"Guaranteed an egomaniac like Schoomer...

Going hand in hand with his egomania is ENVY.

What has Schoomz done in REAL LIFE? POTUS just pours salts on the slug and watches it foam.

Psy-ops against the "resistance." Loving it.

Bring the Habanero sauce, gentlejim!

KK,
Great idea, but I no longer carry the hot sauce. It’s more of a high voltage thing now.

daddy

Jack,

It just turned 7:30 PM over here, so I'm heading out to the Granta Pub for my first pint,
then pub-crawling backward via the Mill,
then the Anchor,

then the Eagle,
then finishing up at the Hotel Pub, hopefully un-mugged and still standing on my own 2 feet. Cheerio!

JiB,

My aunt, as a child, was convinced it was behind the organ pipes in church that they kept the Holy Goat ...

as in the Father, the Son, and ...
