Tom Keene of Bloomberg Radio is calling this the MAGA jobs report - unemployment down, U6 underemployment down, wages up, jobs added, Trump re-elected... OK, I made that last one up but the Blue Wave of 2018 might be diminished somewhat by this sort of economy.
OTOH Bob Mueller can add insider trading and market manipulation to his list of Trump's imagined crimes, so there's that.
DO LET ME ADD: Could Mueller indict Trump for market manipulation? Since everybody has a Jack Nicholson impression I am imagining the courtroom scene where Trump shouts "You're damn right I bragged about that unemployment report!"
Do Dems actually want to slug it out on whether a President can be proud of economic growth? It's Trump (and they're progressives), so they just might. Sort of like when the Dems cleverly shut down the US government because Trump wasn't giving undocumented Democrats a break. Yeah, that worked well.
MAGA and Bama #1!!!

The "Trump is manipulating markets" spin is all they have. Did Trump make trades in the short time between his learning of the employment numbers and their official release? I'm sure half of Congress did, but they exempt themselves from inconvenient laws that cost them money.

Wage growth. Minimum wage is climbing. Isn't that what triggers the Fed to raise interest rates and damping inflation? Asking jimmyk his take. A lot of irrational exuberance on FBN today forecasting 4% growth. I would think the above conditions and lack of skilled labor force in a number of sectors would put the kabash on that.
What say you jimmyk?

I saw some dumb comment by Brit Hume this morning that said his statement was "unprecedented" and giving hints about it was questionable.
I happened to post this at 3:32 this morning:

I think it is safe to assume that reading and/or hearing that report from Fox, one would look forward to the monthly report.

Fer realzies? Trump can't say he's looking forward to the unemployment numbers because that's market manipulation? This is how you get more Trump. A lot more.

Super nice guy who owns 46 cars. His favorite is his 66 GTO.
That almost sounds like my roommate back in the early 90s when I was in the Army and still single. He owned a 68 GTO that he constantly tinkered with in his free time to turn it into a drag racer. He would scour classifieds, the internet or any other source to find people selling their late 60s/early 70s GTO so that he could buy it then cannibalize it for spare parts. When he finally got his car ready for its first drag race he was as happy as someone having their first kid.

A CNN reporter, a BBC reporter, and an Israeli commando were captured by terrorists in Iraq. The leader of the terrorists told them that he would grant them each one last request before they were beheaded.
The CNN reporter said, ‘Well, I’m an American, so I’d like one last hamburger with French fries.” The leader nodded to an underling who left and returned with the burger & fries. The reporter ate it and said “Now, I can die.”
The BBC reporter said, ‘I’m a reporter to the end. I want to take out my tape recorder and describe the scene here and what’s about to happen. Maybe someday someone will hear it and know that I was on the job till the end.” The terror leader directed an aide to hand over the tape recorder and dictated some comments. The reporter then said, ‘Now I can die knowing I stayed true until the end.”
The leader turned and said, “And now, Mr. Israeli tough guy, what is your final wish?”
“Kick me in the tuchas,” said the soldier.
“What?’ asked the leader, “Will you mock us in your last hour?”
“No, I’m not kidding. I want you to kick me in the tuchas,” insisted the Israeli. So the leader shoved him into the open and kicked him in the tuchas.
The soldier went sprawling, but rolled to his knees, pulled a 9 mm pistol from under his flak jacket, and shot the leader dead. In the resulting confusion, he jumped to his knapsack, pulled out his carbine and sprayed the terrorists with gunfire. In a flash, all terrorists were either dead or fleeing for their lives.
As the soldier was untying the reporters, they asked him, “Why didn’t you just shoot them in the beginning? Why did you ask them to kick you in the tuchas first?”
“What?” replied the Israeli, “and have you report that I was the aggressor?”

Love that article, Miss Marple.
Apparently Obama had read a column—I have an idea of which one—about the role of identity in shaping peoples' lives and political choices. "Maybe we pushed too far," he mused. "Maybe people just want to fall back into their tribe." No question his fellow passengers that day reassured him that no, no, he did everything he could to bend the arc of history a little more toward justice. It's not your fault, Mr. President. You didn't push too far. All you did was troll Donald Trump into running for president in the first place, stand by while Ferguson and Baltimore rioted and burned, give Iran billions in exchange for empty promises, allow Russia to establish a beachhead in the Middle East for the first time in half a century, browbeat Israel at every opportunity, ram through Obamacare after Scott Brown's election in Massachusetts, preside over the mass migration of children across the southern border in 2014, expand the DACA amnesty despite saying 22 times you lacked authority to do so, use the permanent structure of government to devastate the Appalachian economy, convince half of America that liberals were ready to take their guns (this wasn't hard to do), have your Education Department issue orders that led to the campus-assault craze and the deterioration of classroom discipline and that, months before a presidential election, mandated trans-bathrooms in schools, have your Justice Department preside over a sloppy (I'm being charitable) investigation into Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server that included, at one point, your attorney general secretly meeting with the husband of the subject of the investigation on an airport tarmac, muscle out Joe Biden, who might have won, from the race, and hand the party back to the less-likable half of America's most polarizing and corrupt political couple. Not to mention the eight years of lecturing. Oh, the lecturing.

JiB, both stocks and yields jumped at the open, so the markets seem to think that rate increases are more likely, but that it's a sign of economic health, not that the Fed is going to kill the recovery. As to 4% growth, beyond maybe a quarter or two, I agree that seems a stretch, as it would require more productivity growth than I've seen any signs of. Maybe once Dodd-Frank and Sarbanes-Oxley are gutted, along with a few cabinet departments.

Diagnosed with Benign Intracranial Hypertension from a Lumbar Puncture Procedure. I was at 21 at the start of the procedure, 8-15 is generally referred to as normal CSF pressure. They took 22 cc of CSF for testing, was clear and no issues discovered (Glucose was a little high). I was at 11 at the end of the procedure and the 13 week long migraine broke!
We are currently managing with Blood Pressure Meds and Diuretics, pretty much effective. I had 1 migraine since getting out of the hospital that lasted 26 hours and was triggered by tiredness from overdoing it in yard work. The remnants of Alberto came through when I was at a recovery meeting. The bright lights, loud noise, and the storm caused me no pain! It is taking time to get back my strength as I was down for so long.
Tonight is 6th anniversary of the first date with Mrs. PDinDetroit. We are going to a Tiger Game just like we did back then. We will be sitting near the Tiger's dugout and I have every confidence that I will have no migraine from being there and cheering them onto victory.
Just a few weeks ago, I could not have imagined where I am at. Nothing short of miraculous.

It is the small ball front. The big ball front is the nation's presidential election.
Who's going to want to step up with the high stakes of political bloodletting, the ruination of an opponent to liberal fascism whether they win or lose.

I took exception yesterday re MiKe Obama's involvement in the Roseanne firing.
I still do. Until there is proof. My theory is the suggested influence of the ValJarr-Obamas Power Triad is more formidable if it remains shadowy and "undocumented." That's the real play here--- hence no corroboration.
Iger didn't talk to Michelle Obama. And who allegedly did speak to her and take their cue based on her "rage"--- that is still an unverified rumor.
See the photo of the punk ass who offered the "tweet heard around the world."
However, there is more than meets my crossed-eyes.
And it has little to do with Roseanne's comments about the Flying Monkey Jarrett.
This was about her show and it being a magnet for a Trumpian audience and the estimated $1 billion in ad revenue projected to come. So why would a board of directors take it in the shorts because Mike Obama was enraged?
Could the show had near lethal impact on the mid-terms?
AT has an incisive look at the "confidentially sourced" rumor monger punk ass who tweeted about Mookie Wookie's involvement in the firing.
From the article:
So what are we left with as this bizarre week draws to an end?
No one who was mentioned in Cornett's tweet has denied what he reported.
That in itself doesn't prove anything.
The cancelation of Roseanne's show was awfully sudden – within a few hours of her offensive tweet.
In its actions, ABC blew off a franchise that may have been worth close to $1 billion in advertising revenue.
Who else in 2018 America has the degree of cachet and influence to insist that that kind of decision be taken?"

on the IG report, Grassley delayed his committee meeting from June 5 to June 11. Make of it what you will.

kk-i was stuck resting knee last night and caught lead-ins to both nbc and abc and both simply refer to it as the "racist tweet". Obnoxious, yes. Horrific, yes.
Racist? Only if every factual criticism graphically expressed in a tacky manner about someone with certain racial backgrounds is deemed racist.
I still think it was about the ties to the mb and basically bringing valjar out into the open.
Is a graphic comment about altgeld gardens racist?

Robin,
I believe “shithole” as a descriptor has already been determined to be racist.

So now we have a theory about how VJ pissed Roseanne off. She was calling the network complaining about Roseanne's tweets about the Obamas' Netflix deal. Makes sense.

Welcome Beasts. And thanks Tom R, I hadn't known about the Buffett cover but it is excellent. You know a song is great when covers can be so divergent, mood-wise.

Dem investors and client's money. A bad combination every time:
From 2012 through March 2017, Dean Mustaphalli allegedly invested his clients’ money in his hedge fund without their knowledge, and when the losses started to add up he blamed it on Brexit, “oil, bad markets and the election,” the New York attorney general’s office said, according to the Journal. Mustaphalli also allegedly told one investor prior to Nov. 8, 2016, that they would get their money back if Hillary Clinton won the election, the paper writes, citing the attorney general’s office.

PD, I've got a whole bunch of questions, which you may not want to answer here--
does somebody have your email? I have some ways to reach people.
But, if you don't care--
Why did they let you suffer so long? Who made that call??
What was the point of you being hospitalized?
There isn't anything about an LP that requires a person to be in a hospital--you can have that any day, any hour of the week as an outpatient, so I am very confused about this management.
This could have been diagnosed months ago.
Glad you have a diagnosis--and a good treatment regimen, from the sounds of it.
Not to mention that job stuff!! ;-)
PDinDetroit at gmail dot com
I had an upper respiratory bug that also set-off my asthma really bad for six weeks. Since they specialize in head/neck pain only, they could not bring me in while I was sick (agreement with the hospital). It was important for the neck procedures that they did as well, cannot be performed while I was sick.
While in the hospital, I was on IV Protocol 3x per day of DHE, Benedryl, and Zofran/Reglan (DHE Burst outpatient for 3 days was ineffective). We did Bilateral Occiptal Nerve Blocks (ineffective), C2-C3-C4 Bilateral Facet Blocks (partially effective - RFA at similar location is something that is highly effective), C7-T1 CESI (steroids) (effective), and the Lumbar Puncture (effective). We also had 12 different potential Abortive Meds, which I could try 3 per day and tried 10 (3 of which are now part of the daily preventative meds). I even tried Oxygen which actually made the migraines worse.
I am in full agreement that we could have tried the LP earlier in the process, but my migraine/sleep doc at MHNI had a serious health condition for the past 1.5 years and is not out of the woods just yet. 2017 was a great year and the migraines were controlled for the most part (80%). 2018 had crazy weather and barometric pressure/weather fronts were going from one extreme to the other, which set-off the migraines terribly bad. As I had an undiagnosed migraine cause, have borderline hypertension, and am overweight, those should have set-off the trigger to have a Lumbar Puncture.
Most neurologists seem to have the opinion that they "cannot treat the weather", so weather-affected migraines really go untreated. The only clinic that I have seen work with weather-affected migraines is the Mayo Clinic in MN. I was on the way there next if I didn't get any relief from MHNI.
So, I have neck issues and IH identified for causes of the migraines so far. I will be seeing my eye doc this next week to ensure that IH is not affecting my eyesight. As I had excess fluid in the right eardrum and the pain is mostly right-sided, I will going to see my Ear Doc as well (it may be that the excess CSF fluid built-up in the ear instead of passing normal pathways).
I will likely be going to my back doc and having the other members of the practice that deal with cervical spine concerns give me another opinion/options. I may even go to my surgeon that did the C4-C5 ACDF to see if there is something he can do for the conditions.
Doctors have what is called a "practice". Guess who they practice on?
We are called patients, which is what we are supposed to have while they practice on us.

Isn't the Atlanta Fed wrong most of the time in their estimates? I seem to remember none of their projections during the Obama years being realized.
But then I could be wrong and have them confused with the 9th circuit:)
