THEOCRATIC PRESIDENT*

Andrew Wommack is a Christian grifter pastor in Colorado who exploits the Internet to steal money from college students and other devotees of his particularly odious "ministry."

"The most controversial aspect of Wommack’s teaching," writes EquipBlog, "is its incorporation of Word of Faith theology."

"Word of Faith teachers twist Scripture to support the occult belief that faith is a force, words are containers of the force, and through faith-filled words we can speak things into reality..."

Think about that at as we review what Wommack told listeners to his "Faith and Liberty" broadcast last night, as reported by Right Wing Watch:

Wommack and his guests were trying to answer a question from a viewer who wanted to know how evangelicals can support Trump despite his “immoral actions, behavior, character, and words,” to which they responded by insisting that “God is using Trump because He loves America, He loves the Christians, and He loves everybody that lives here.”

Wommack said that regardless of the fact that Trump is deeply flawed and “is always saying something offensive,” evangelicals can and must continue to support him because “he has done more to advance and protect Christianity than any president in our lifetime.”

So morality is out the window as long as Wommack speaks his belief that this is all part of God's plan to use Trump, no matter how evil or immoral he is. Okaaaay.

But wait, there's more.

“I know at least three people who have prayed with Trump and say he got born again,” Wommack said. “This man believes Trump did get saved but he counseled him not to make this an issue because people would look at it as that is his conversion experience so that he could sweep his past under the rug.”

Mueller worries Russia could use court case to spy on probe

Prosecutors are asking a federal judge to impose limits on the information that can be shared by attorneys for Concord Management and Consulting LLC. The company is accused of funding a clandestine Russian social media operation aimed at interfering in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

Mueller's team says disclosure of the information could compromise American sources and methods for monitoring foreign interference operations.

Prosecutors also want to bar other defendants from accessing the materials turned over in the case until they appear in a U.S. court. That includes Yevgeny Prigozhin, a wealthy businessman who controls the company. He has ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Tom R

Tom R, I think it could well interfere with the trial (although I think thee will not be one. This information has to be made available to Flynn as exculpatory material.). I think DC is off on this one.

Clarice,

I want to be sure I understand your response. Are you saying that Rosenstein is justified in not allowing FBI Agent Pientka to testify before Congress because it could jeopardize getting a conviction in a later trial (assuming there is one).

BTW what does "DC" refer to?

Neo

The emails memorialized a January 2018 closed-door meeting involving senior FBI and Justice Department officials as well as members of the House Intelligence Committee. The account claimed Rosenstein threatened to turn the tables on the committee's inquiries regarding the Russia probe.

“The DAG [Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein] criticized the Committee for sending our requests in writing and was further critical of the Committee’s request to have DOJ/FBI do the same when responding,” the committee's then-senior counsel for counterterrorism Kash Patel wrote to the House Office of General Counsel. “Going so far as to say that if the Committee likes being litigators, then ‘we [DOJ] too [are] litigators, and we will subpoena your records and your emails,’ referring to HPSCI [House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence] and Congress overall.”

Kevlar Kid

Mueller is stalling.

Tom R

Neo,

There is also this excerpt from that Fox News article that provides some context.

“The Deputy Attorney General was making the point—after being threatened with contempt — that as an American citizen charged with the offense of contempt of Congress, he would have the right to defend himself, including requesting production of relevant emails and text messages and calling them as witnesses to demonstrate that their allegations are false,” the official said.

One possible explanation for Rosenstein - in addition to the chance that DoJ is gearing up to prosecute a bunch of people and they don't want Congress to screw it up - is that they're taking a long view, knowing that the Dems will someday retake the House or Senate. Resisting a Republican-controlled Congress will make it easier to do the same to Dems.

If that's the game, I think it's a mistake because a Dem DoJ would be much more likely to have something to hide from a Republican Congress than the other way around, and setting a precedent for open transparency would help hamstring the next Holder. What they're doing now would help the next Holder defy a Republican Congress.

I'm pretty convinced that Rosenstein is a bad apple, but it's still a remote possibility that he's the straight man in this whole episode.

Trump's unlikely allies on North Korea talks — progressive Democrats

But Rob Stutzman, a Republican political strategist based in Sacramento, California, said Democrats had no choice but to back Trump.

"Whether they like it or not Trump has succeeded in getting to the table with Kim, which no other U.S. president has been able to do." he said. "There is jeopardy for them in opposing what could be a diplomatic success that will be very popular at home. If Trump is unable to deliver a denuclearization agreement, they have not lost anything politically. The safe thing for them to do is to support the US president abroad at the summit."

But perhaps not eager to heap too much praise on Trump, the 15 House Democrats are taking credit for the president's dramatic change on North Korea that came after 64 members of Congress urged him in May 2017 to stop reckless threats of war and to talk to North Korea’s leadership.

meeting backed up Patel’s account, writing: “Let me just add that watching the Deputy Attorney General launch a sustained personal attack against a congressional staffer in retaliation for vigorous oversight was astonishing and disheartening. ... Also, having the nation’s #1 (for these matters) law enforcement officer threaten to 'subpoena your calls and emails' was downright chilling.”

The committee staffer noted that Rosenstein’s comment could be interpreted as meaning the department would “vigorously defend a contempt action" -- which might be expected. But the staffer continued, "I also read it as a not-so-veiled threat to unleash the full prosecutorial power of the state against us.”

House Intelligence Committee chairman says any delay from the DOJ will be considered an obstruction of Congress; chief intelligence correspondent Catherine Herridge reports.
Representatives with both the DOJ and FBI disputed the account in the emails.

“The FBI disagrees with a number of characterizations of the meeting as described in the excerpts of a staffer’s emails provided to us by Fox News,” the FBI said in a statement.

A DOJ official told Fox News that Rosenstein “never threatened anyone in the room with a criminal investigation.” The official said the department and bureau officials in the room “are all quite clear that the characterization of events laid out here is false,” adding that Rosenstein was responding to a threat of contempt.

'[H]aving the nation’s #1 ... law enforcement officer threaten to 'subpoena your calls and emails' was downright chilling.'

- House Intelligence Committee staffer, describing clash with Rod Rosenstein
“The Deputy Attorney General was making the point—after being threatened with contempt — that as an American citizen charged with the offense of contempt of Congress, he would have the right to defend himself, including requesting production of relevant emails and text messages and calling them as witnesses to demonstrate that their allegations are false,” the official said. “That is why he put them on notice to retain relevant emails and text messages, and he hopes they did so. “I don’t think there’s a line when you’re saying something that is accurate,” the 71-year-old actor/director told the Hill Tuesday. “If you treat women a certain way and you have a pattern of treating someone a certain way over your lifetime, the term misogynist comes into play.”

“If you talk about things that are racist, then you earned that,” he added. “In terms of Trump, he started his campaign talking about the first African-American president being illegitimate. That’s a very racist idea. You don’t have a problem saying the guy’s racist, if he’s exhibiting racist behavior.”

DC is Daily Caller. I haven't enough info to know if Pientka's open testimony might create a problem if there's a trial. It's all a muddle, but if I understand the offer of his testimony it would seem to come under the requirement that pre trial Mueller has to turn over all exculpatory evidence to Flynn--what could be more exculpatory than this? I wonder if Rosenstein is delaying because he doesn't want to publicly reveal it before the Flynn sentencing (or non sentencing if my guess is right).Of course, even more likely is that McCabe has been indicted and this is one of the charges--changing the 302s and the public testimony might give defense counsel a claim of some sort that the potential jury pool was poisoned by the public testimony.

It looks to me like Rosita and the HOR Committee are rope-a-doping against each other anyway.

What would happen to you or I if we defied a congressional order (whatevs)?

Bag Man Holder demonstrated how toofless those are to the protected class of DC bureaucrats.

Looks like a scrapbooking contest with both sides trying to run up "bad things" the other side has done, as many as they can, to hurl about in their relative powerlessness.

No matter what kind of hat Rosenstein wears, gray at best, he's sitting on a red ant hill of dubious Constitutional authority.

Why would he choose that?

He had to set up a Deep State rear guard action to muddy the waters and brush the tracks while the elites hatch their escape plans.

And to run out the clock in the hope of hopes that the Blue Wave is more than a Tidy Bowl product, and the Deep State can retake the HOR.

In the meantime, releasing docs to a House committee jeopardizes the Mule Toolapalooza investigation, the essence of the rear guard action in that it isn't investigating the Clinton campaign for it's role in tampering with the electoral process, a gigantic "wherever it leads" segment for this SC investigation that we know all to well is being ignored.

Further, Rosita Rosenstein is Mule ToolaPalooza's BOSS. Mule Toola has broad powers, but he's accountable to Rosita.

In my opinion this bodes well for Phase II of this crisis resolution, once FrankenComey has been identified in all his glory as one who abused his power and limited authority within the DOJ.

During Phase I, Rosita has been given enough rope to hang himself with his misdeeds beginning with the improper charging of the SC to execute the vagaries of its mission.

Firing Comey didn't trigger a full-bore effort to impeach the President, although it did set in motion the SC appointment. Which encumbered the most risk for this presidency: an entrenched Comey or a feckless SC investigation?

POTUS has shown me not so much that he makes 4D chess moves, but that he is an expert at assessing risk, making contingency plans, and demonstrating agility in the moment (such as the G7 "folded arms" photo op).

Don't know if anybody has given you the low down on posting photos from PhotoBiclet, but I was afraid I might forget by the time I caught up. It's incredibly simple; if you've got your photos onto PhotoBucket, you don't need to mess with the image tag.

Just click on the photo you want to post, which takes you to the individual photo's page. On the upper right, under "SHARE THIS PHOTO," you'll see three options, "Direct" or "HTML" or IMG.

Select the code for HTML and copy it. Then just paste that code into your post exactly as you copied it, et voila. Your photo magically appears when you preview or post it. I recommend previewing just to make sure.... For some reason command-c doesn't work to copy it for me, I have to right click and choose copy from the contextual menu.

If you haven't sized your photo before you put it up on PBucket, you can do it the by clicking thge "Edit" button on the PB page too (a square with a paintbrush). 400 pixel width fits nicely into the JOM columns. Even if the photo is too big though most people can do the right click thingie to see it all.
