Headline: Embarrassment for CNN as Chris Cuomo’s new show trounced by MSNBC in anti-Trump smackdown
In an embarrassing setback for CNN, the network’s heavily promoted new 9 p.m. show, “Cuomo Prime Time,” finished well behind arch-rival MSNBC during its inaugural week. Observers say it’s the latest sign that CNN’s anti-Trump programming strategy may be faltering.

Here's a working link to the Political genius's in Seattle: Seattle moves to repeal head tax after just a month
SEATTLE (AP) — Seattle city leaders said Monday they will work to repeal a tax on large businesses just one month after unanimously approving the measure to help pay for affordable housing and homeless services.
Mayor Jenny Durkan and seven of nine councilmembers said in a joint statement that "it is clear that the ordinance will lead to a prolonged, expensive political fight over the next five months that will do nothing to tackle our urgent housing and homelessness crisis."
"We heard you," they said.

Miss Marple,
I've been on and off listening to Shannon Breams guest Philippe Reines, former Aide to Hillary Clinton. He's been on and on about how Trump is probably doing this wrong and that wrong and hasn't studied enough and hasn't done this in the right way or that in the right way and he's probably naive etc, and yet he makes sure to say that the reason Kim is at the table is because of the sanctions that were put in place during the Obama Administration so in the unlikely event that this is a success it won't be a Trump success, instead it'll be "an American success," because of all the great work done by the previous Administration.
Shorter version: If it fails Trumps an idiot, but if it works Thanks Hillary, Kerry and Obama.

I was so sad to learn that El Chico's on Murfreesboro Pike was closed down after about 50 years. We were going to eat there but had to go across the street to King China.
Behind that restaurant was the new location of Dury's Camera, which has actually survived about 140 years interestingly enough. That was our main destination. My son is a budding photographer.
I actually bought film today. Informal poll, has it been longer since you bought film or condoms? I can't remember either.
We're going back Wednesday to get some Cannon camera for him that has a nice rebate. There are two formats apparently: Mirrorless and DSLR. He has one and this new Cannon has the other. Pretty cool either way. Me and him (grammatically correct?) are going carousing downtown tomorrow night and shooting pics.
Me and him, him and me. Who's who? Whose who?

To say what I transcribed from General Keane earlier would take Wallace an entire show and he'd still miss half the plan, nor would he understand it. Thank God for the "Mute" button.

Here they come. Doors just opened and in walk Trump and Kim. Both sitting down. Trump speaking first explaining that he'll give a News Conference in a few hours. The 2 men about to sign some document in front of each man. Kim speaking now about signing the document, translation following. Kim expresses his gratitude to Trump for making the meeting happen and President Trump replies "You're welcome." Both then sign paperwork, then exchange to each other what they signed.
Press asks a few questions in English as they are both signing: about DeNuclearization (Trump replies it will start very very quickly) and Otto Warmbier (Trump ignores the question) I missed the 3rd question but Trump ignored it.
Both men sign, smile and shake hands for the cameras.
Trump makes a few comments while still seated about having had a comprehensive understanding and having developed a very special bond with Kim, and that he believes things will work out better than he expected. Trump sounds optimistic.
Both men stand up, shake hands again, and exit the room as a reporter hollers out if Kim will come to DC. (Kim ignores.)
Now they are in front of the flags and standing next to Kim President Trump is answering a few more questions from the Press. More handshakes. They exchange good-byes, then exit in opposite directions.
Overall took about 10 minutes max.

http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2018/06/11/donald-trump-says-he-and-kim-jong-un-to-sign-joint-statement-after-meeting/
I'm intrigued by the idea that they may have spoken together before this meeting.
Some stories seem to indicate that Pompeo brought some kind of communications gear to North Korea that allowed Kim and Trump to talk to each other before this meeting.
I saw some film footage that seemed to indicate that Kim was a little nervous.
I'm sure he's never before seen that kind of press coverage. I can understand that.
Hopefully, Kim is nervous, because he doesn't want to see this go wrong.
In some ways, Trump looked a little off his game too, like he took it down a notch or two, to ease Kim's nervousness.
I don't know yet the gist of what they signed, but a signing would seem to indicate a successful first step. One that might lead to more steps.
If Trump comes away from this thinking that there's something in this for all sides, he'll work with Kim on an ongoing basis, while the working groups do the details.
I think the whole point of this meeting was not a document, an agreement etc., but a chance for both sides to see if they can work together.
Trump praised Kim. Kim praised Trump.
And the back story, if believable, is that the working group made more progress than expected.

Here's a great little riff from Sebastion Gorka to Ed Henry a few minutes ago which is an excellent read of how Team Trump works:
Gorka:... There's a new way of doing business. We've thrown out the Diplomatic Rule Book, the Protocols. Let me give you an example that illustrates what I call "The Speed Of Trump Effect." Mike Pompeo became Secretary of State 6 weeks ago. The day he was confirmed by Senate I was guest hosting a Radio Show. I couldn't keep up with Mike Pompeo because the Producer sent me the note "Oh, he's been confirmed by the Senate." The next break I had to say "Oh, Justice Alitto has sworn him in." The next break, I had just announced he'd been sworn in, and I had to tell the listeners "He's on his way to Andrews Air Force Base to fly to Belgium and then to the Middle East." Now I don't care who the President would have been in the past, Republican or Democrat, the new Secretary of State would have been approved. That evening there would have been a cocktail party in Georgetown, some Bloody Mary's, next week there would have been a nice Ceremony at Foggy Bottom, and then maybe a month later he'd go on his first Tour. That's not the Trump Way! Mike, and the president, it's about results. It's about getting stuff done. Six weeks ago he became Secretary and we have to know what was signed today wasn't written this morning. It's not the minutes of the meeting that the Chairman and the President had. That was prepped way before hand. It was prepared in the space of just a few weeks before we came here.
Ed Henry: And shortly after that trip to Belgium Secretary Pompeo took a secret trip to Pyongyang.
Gorka: Yes. Right.
Ed Henry: That got this thing into hyper-motion.
Gorka: I'm glad you mentioned that because that mission, that embassy, that secret Mission, that's the kind of thing we remember reading about during War Time, right? When things are deemed to be of such import that everything has a sense of urgency. Having worked for the President, as his strategist in the White House, that sense of urgency was from January the 20th at 12 O'clock, when he was sworn in. It was always that kind of sense of Mission, whether it was the economy, tariffs, opioids, or whether it was potentially bringing Peace to the Korean peninsula, its a different way of doing business, and guess what---I think the American people like it.

Jim nj,
I think there is much truth to Gen Keane's ideas of what was probably worked out for signing today, and I buy your and Gorka's opinion that this was prepared well beforehand. I also agree with your take on Trump's personality today. Trump knows how to make people comfortable or uncomfortable, and I am sure he was using his skills today to do that, given the importance of "Face" and Kim's potential camera jitters and all the rest.
I would like to know what the reporter thought he was accomplishing at that moment of the signing by hollering out he wanted an opinion from the President on Otto Warmbier. That was a turd thrown into a very important punch bowl at a potentially critical moment in human history so though I have respect for a Free Press I would have no problem identifying that a**hole and if Singapore wanted to cane his feet and toss him in jail for a year I'd shed no tears whatsoever.

"Reporters reviewing audio from the walk-by said that Kim’s translator said, “Many people in the world will think of this as a … form of fantasy…from a science fiction movie,” an interpretation of what Kim said to Trump."
This is showing up in a number of articles. I take that as a good sign. It's the kind of thing you would say if you were serious, and maybe a little bit awed, by the meeting and the spectacle.
Kim has never been exposed to this kind of news coverage before. Might be a little heady for him if he's serious.
A very poor analogy, and please don't get angry with my religious symbology, but what we've got here is a human scaled G-d the Father, G-d the Son (excusing for the moment his prison camps), and if we can get the Holy Spirit working here, there is a path forward.

Daddy,
Still on the same wavelength. Kim was nervous, or overwhelmed by the press coverage, but Trump gave him shade.
My overall impression was that Kim didn't want to make a mis-step and blow it. I take that to mean that he is serious and wants this to work.
Trump, who can seem overpowering, took himself down a notch or two, and seemed to be "comforting?"
I think this is more about process right now, details to be ironed out.
If it's correct that we have installed communications gear in NoKo that allows Kim and Trump to talk, I expect that line will be well used.
I'm reminded of the story that Bush and Iraq's al-Maliki spoke weekly.

Why am I surprised that Breitbart has the latest coverage, maybe because their editors are completely schnookered.
Four points of the Trump-Kim Declaration:
1. The United States and the DPRK commit to establish new U.S.-DPRK relations in accordance with the desire of the peoples of the two countries for peace and prosperity.
2. The United States and the DPRK will join their efforts to build a lasting and stable peace regime on the Korean Peninsula.
3. Reaffirming the April 27, 2018 Panmunjom Declaration, the DPRK commits to work towards the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
4. The United States and the DPRK commit to recovering POW/MIA remains including the immediate repatriation of those already identified.
When reporters asked if Kim was prepared to denuclearize, Trump said that they would be “starting that process very quickly.”

From Jim's 03:36 Breitbart link:
“We had a terrific day and we learned a lot about each other and our countries,” Trump said.
When asked what he learned about Kim, Trump replied, “I learned that he’s a very talented man. I also learned that he loves his country very much.”
Beautiful answer. My knee jerk reaction from here on out is to not trust any of the Reporters and their questions, and that question sounded to me like a gotcha' yet Trump banged it out of the park. Good job Mr President.
Current live shot is a Room totally full and waiting for Trump. Camera keeps focusing in on Secretary Pompeo in the front row facing the podium that Trump will stand behind. Pompey is animated and smiling, chatting with a few members seated next to him. He certainly looks positive and upbeat.

Lots of shots of Kim and his country and dancers but also lots of shots of war planes and nuclear top explosions.I've had the TV muted so I don't know if any audio is playing with the screens but it's fairly belligerent .
Trump just walked in and here's his comments.
In his first few sentences he mentions the tape (it must be the one we have been watching that I commented on).
Trump says: "That was a tape that we gave to Chairman Kim and his people, his representatives, and it captures a lot, it captures what could be done..."

Ampther thing Wictor believes is that we have already destroyed part if not all of their nuclear facilities. BUT, unlike previous presidents, Trump isn't bragging like Bush ("mission accomplished") or Obama gloating about bin Laden.
Trump understands the Asian need for face, and so he isn't saying a word. However, they understand that they were defeated. (This is Wictor's theory.)
Posted by: Miss Marple the Deplorable | June 12, 2018 at 04:34 AM
Trump opens praising Singapore, Singapore's leader, and it's people then President Moon of South Korea, then PM Abe of Japan. And also he praises President Xi of China. Each one Trump praises as friends.
Good straightforward comments follow, very complementary of Kim personally and of the positive nature of the intense meetings they just went through.
Trump adds that Kim is already signing some Missile engine facility that is not in the signed documents the reporters have seen, but he says that agreement happened after they signed the documents, so that means it must have been an extra agreement singed within the last 2 hours or so.
Trump says the sanctions will remain in effect for the moment. He sure sounds optimistic.
Makes a joke about the media making him uncomfortable (gets a big laugh) and now is taking questions from the Press.
1st Question is from NBC. Asking why is Trump being complementary to a guy who killed family members and did what he did to Otto Warmbier.
Trump says Otto did not die in vain and elaborates on his opinion of what Otto's release and death developed into. His whole answer is worth hearing and I can't do it justice.
2nd Question the reporter asks about lack of verification in the signed items. Trump reads the document "The complete De-Nuclearization of the Korean peninsula." The reporter keeps asking how, and Trump says we'll have a lot of people working on this and verification will occur audit will include Americans doing the verifying.
3rd Question asks what gives Trump the confidence in Kimto believe him. Trump remains complementary He does say "You never know" but he states he believes Kim will live up to the document and he understands how it is in his interest.
Trump is now feeling very comfortable in joking with media members.
4th Question is John Roberts asking if Human Right was discussed? Trump says Yes, that was discussed and you'll hear mire in the future. Then Trump mentions that he asked for and received positive comments on the remains of our KIA and hopes on the MIA's and potential POW's as well.
5th is another Human Rights question about the North Korean people. Trump sounds upbeat.

I notice the press seems to be a bit more respectful.

Tape? What's that about?
Any links? We gave it to them?
Confused.

6th Question Will you travel to Pyongyang? Trump replies at some time in the future, and also mentions Kim has been invited to DC but all this in the future. Trump telling his staff to pass out to the press the signed agreements.
7th Question: Any progress on Japan Abductees and any hope/progress for North Korean Christians. Trump says yes it cam up and things will happen and then mentions that Franklin Graham spends lots of time in North Korea working on this issue.
8th Question: Do you still believe your earlier comments a year ago in the SOTU speech harshly criticizing the N'orks frothier Human Rights Abuses. Trump says he thinks it'll change for the better and it was discussed. Reporter a little snotty.
9th Question. How long will thisntake and when will the sanctions come off. Trump say he looks forward to taking the sanctions off but it has to be because of the de-nuclearization.
10th Question: Reporter asks its just a piece of paper. Whats different? Trump says it's a different President and a different Administration. And Trump doesn't blame just Obama he blames Us Presidents going back 25 years. He also mentions that Iran is a much different country now than thy were 4 months ago.
11 the Question: When will you exchange Ambassadors? Trump says thats going to take a while, not ready yet.
12th is a Question about War Games with South Korea and then a lot of comments from Trump on how much we pay for South Korea's protection and how they will need to pick up some of that slack. Trump effectively bats down the standard Press question of Trump foolishly empowering a dictator by stooping to met with him. Trump runs right over that media talking point effortlessly.
Posted by: daddy | June 12, 2018 at 04:46 AM
jim nj,
They played a video tape they sent to North Korea, highlighting the results of having nukes (shots of war) vs. peace and prosperity.
A "choose wisely" video. Quite impressive.
I will look later to see if it's available.
HAHA! He points out he didn't give pallets of cash.

I do so far, Miss M. He's doing nice job of preemptively telling them to be nice and they seem to have taken the direction. I hope that earlier yelled question at the signing about Otto Warmbier got some serious boots in some Press asses.

Trump just now at his post-summit presser, I "haven't slept for 25 hours". WOW. Working his ass off for the betterment of not just the United State, but the entire world. OUR PRESIDENT. 🇺🇸

This is great!
HAHA! He says he tinks Justin didn't realize they have about 20 televisions on Air Force One so when Trudeau gave that news conference Trump was watching!
Posted by: Miss Marple the Deplorable | June 12, 2018 at 04:56 AM
So America is getting back any remains of the dead found from 65 years ago and U.S. hostages already released in exchange to ending expensive military exercises w/SK- ‘war games’ as Trump calls them, as the big planes- and he told us he knows a lot about airplanes- have to fly 6.5 hours from Guam. And no sleep for 25 hours!!
Oh, yes, Kim has definitely read the Art of the Deal.
This presser… sad. Just oh-so-sad.

13th Question. A repetitious question from a moron who wants to know why aren't the signed documents more detailed in immediately ending their Nuke program, etc. (see Gen Keane)
14th Question: I missed the particulars but it allows Trump to illustrate that Seoul is only 5 miles from the border and has 29 Million people, so Trump riffs on how many people were are in distress. Now he talks about how he showed that video I mentioned earlier to Kim, and his impression of Kim's take on the video.
15th Question: Are you treating our allies in G-7 as enemies and our enemies as friends? Allows Trump to riff on Canada Trade inequalities and tariffs---a 100 Billion a Year deficit in Canada's favor I think is the number Trump quoted. Now he is talking about the picture showing him arms folded and Merkel looking angry. He explains what actually was going on, then turns back to Trudeau and says other countries can no longer use us unfairly as their piggy bank.
16th Question: I can't hear it, but he's criticizing Trudeau again so it must have been on that topic. Trump doing a good job criticizing Trudeau and Merkel, but no animosity. Not personal, showing a lot of thick skin here.
17th Question: Singapore reporter asks what happens next and Trump says the entire Team goes over the details in further meetings next week with the N'orks and the other involved countries.
18th Question: How did you evaluate so rapidly that you would like him or dislike him so quickly. Trump replies that they have been talking for months. (as Jim nj guessed) so it wasn't just today. Says this discussion had ben going on since back during the South Korean Olympics, so quite a while. Trump says his thing is knowing when people want to make deals and he feels via his experience that Kim wants to make a Deal, and he also thinks China wants to make a Deal. He says he can't be certain but he thinks so, we'll find out.
19th Question: have you betrayed the prisoners in North Korea. No. I think I've helped them, and I think ultimately they will be great winners as a group, as a consequence of what happened today.
20th
21st Question: another sanctions question. Says South Korea is going to be helping the N'ork's generously meaning economically.
22nd: How fast? Trump replies as fast as it can be done and now riffs on an MIT economics Prof he was friend with who says that there are times when you get into something like 20% then you cannot go back and that's how he views this potential Deal
23rd Question China Trade and the China Border with North Korea being a bit more open currently than Trump wants. Trump riffs on that intelligently about consequences and problems.

“I’ll do whatever it takes to make the world a safer place.”
For more than an hour now @realDonaldTrump has been addressing the Press in Singapore without a teleprompter or notes.
(Contrast that to going on a global “Apology Tour.”)

Well, that was certainly amazing. No notes, no teleprompter, completely at ease and in command of the facts.

24th Question. NY Times Reporter. Did Kim tell you how many weapons he has, and then some question about the how will this Inspection Deal be different than the Iran Inspection deal. Trump says it is a pretty substantial Arsenal, which is why he says it should have ben handled in the past before they has such substantial Arsenal.
25th Q: Says we will probably need a second Summit sometime in the future but he is very pleased with today's agreements. Reiterates that a lot of this has been in the works for months
26th One America News. President Trump thanks her for the regular good coverage. Do you have an idea of what sort of economic model he's disinterested in? Trump replies that the video hisTeam produced and showed Kim is just one idea Trump offered of what their future could be, but he was open to alternatives absolutely.
27th Question: Do you see Kim as an equal? Trump: "In way way?" Reporter: You on a stage makes him seem like an equal. Trump, "I am willing to sit on a stage to save 30 million people by establishing a relationship with a tough leader with nuclear weapons, I will do that. Reporter: Are you concerned the video you showed him can be used as propaganda by Kim. Trump: "No."
28th is a reporter asks the same question and Trump blow him off.
29th Q: If he does not follow thru will this have been a failure for you? Trump says that maybe in 6 months I might stand in front of you and say "I was wrong." but I have hope today and I hope that does not happen.
30th Question: Something about China from an Asian Reporter gets Trump praising America's economy.
31st What will you be telling South Korean President Moon later today? Trump: I've already communicated with him and sent some documents.
Do you want China involved as a signatory? I have no problem with China being a partner in different parts.
32nd Q: Shouted questions since it's the last questions and I cannot make them out. Trump is bailing out now and I think he will hustle to bed. Said he has been up for about 25 Hours and he thanks everybody, and points to Mike Pompeo and says it won't mean a thing if we don't get the ball across the goal line, so Mike and I have work to do.

Even Trump’s critics have to note the staggering stamina: +12-hour time change, 4 hours of intensive meetings w/North Korean Dictator Kim Jong Un, a pair of sit down interviews followed by a press conference that just surpassed one hour for a man who turns 72 Thursday.

This is the most amazing thing I've ever seen. And I saw this same man win the Presidency so I know amazing.
So that's what that was about Miss M. I was transcribing so fast the lightbulb didn't go off in my head. So what he was doing was personally demonstrating to various reporters around the room how sharp his memory was, thus blowing out of the water that Media meme that he's lazy and stupid and unable to learn anything new. What a beautiful way to slap them down.
Sadly I bet that even though they just got their asses handed to them about how sharp he is they'll refuse to mention it in their reporting, since it would renown to his favor.
