Question 15---Marr Liaison On the 2 Immigration Bills, Does the president have any preference for either of the 2 House Bills being considered? Sara: The Prez has already laid out his proposal that closes the Legal loopholes and provides the resources to secure our Border. If the process leads to a permanent solution as laid out by the Prez we would support it.

Question 16---You blame the Dem's for not closing the Loopholes. Republicans control both Houses of Congress and despite the presidents repeated preference for McConnell to get rid of the filibuster so they could pass something without the Dems, don't the Repubs take some responsibility? Sara: If a handful of Dem's wanted to solve this problem they could. They refuse and instead play political games attacking the president.

Question 17---Same question

Question 18---Does the Pres support a 2nd Special Counsel or is this matter settled after the IG report today? Sara: There is a great deal concern and we are going to tune in to Director Wray's comments later today but there a lot of things in this report that should worry a lot of Americans

Question19---Does the press think that Peter Strzok should still have a job at the FBI? Sara; I gave not specifically asked him that question but my guess would be No.

Question 20---(Last Question) Are you or other people recently being mentioned as leaving the Admin leaving and will they and you be replaced? Sara: There is no need to replace them. CBS got ahead of their skis on their story about me without actually ever talking to me. I love my jib and working here. I am going to continue to do my job, Thanks guys.

It was a text.

Langdale.ca ‏ @langdaleca 8m8 minutes ago

So it appears that Rosenstein's DOJ purposely omitted these emails when they were previously requested & provided.

The IG then went to the @NSAGov and discovered that Rosenstein omitted evidence.

Posted by: Miss Marple the Deplorable | June 14, 2018 at 01:58 PM

I haven't found this suggestion anywhere in the IG report. I am having some trouble with the search function on my device so who knows. But from what I have read it sounds like langdaleca made up the notion that the OIG went to the NSA to discover omissions.

Does anyone have anything factual that supports what langdaleca tweeted with such authority?

Kevlar Kid

From the Recs section:

"Upon finding that former Director Comey, Lisa Page, and Peter Strzok used personal
email accounts for unclassified FBI business, the OIG referred Mr. Strzok for an investigation
into whether his actions violated FBI and DOJ policies. This referral will be investigated and
adjudicated pursuant to FBI and DOJ policies.

Internal investigation?

Comey Responds to IG Report: ‘This Report Says I Was Wrong. But That’s Good For the FBI’

I respect the DOJ IG office, which is why I urged them to do this review. The conclusions are reasonable, even though I disagree with some. People of good faith can see an unprecedented situation differently. I pray no Director faces it again. Thanks to IG’s people for hard work.

— James Comey (@Comey) June 14, 2018
Then Comey tweeted out his NY Times op-ed.

Excerpted at the link.

CAUTION: IG Michael Horowitz and James Comey worked together in 1990s in US Attorneys office in Manhattan. In addition, Horowitz married to former CNN and PBS producer, who gave money to Obama and who previously worked as a senior aide to Dukakis during presidential campaign

— Paul Sperry (@paulsperry_) June 14, 2018
Kevlar Kid

Sorry....that "From the Recs section" was mistaken.
It's from the FBI response section...as is this
"mistakes were made" blather:

"The OIG concluded that certain MYE investigatory missteps were made.

accepts the OIG’s conclusions that, in hindsight, it could have taken additional or different
investigatory actions, including moving more quickly to secure a search warrant for Anthony
Weiner’s laptop, and staffing the investigation differently so as to avoid affecting the MYE
investigation when senior members of the MYE team were assigned to the Russia investigation.

Eye Doctor

Horowitz put up a firewall to protect Obama, Lynch and a host of others.

clarice feldman

Don't confuse the IG with a prosecutor. He just makes the record.

Kevlar Kid

"People of good faith can see an unprecedented situation differently."

People of good faith aren't likely to see anything a corrupt sonuvabitch does in any situation as unprecedented.

Y'all behave the same way in any situation.

Lying hack.

Kev, wrists will be slapped.

Kevlar Kid

Does NSA have the unredacted/original transmissions?

Makes sense that a credible IG would check whatever Rosita turned over and, if the IGs have access to NSA resources that those would be used to the fullest extent.

I get TK's request for corroboration of langdale.ca's assertion.

Eye Doctor

Don't confuse the IG's report with a truthful depiction of the facts.

Kevlar Kid

If that was for me, clarice, point is taken. I'm reacting to the passive parsing of "the record."

For just making the record, the report contains a lot of normative judgment.

Comey said that he recalled first learning about the additional emails on the Weiner laptop at some point in early October 2016, although he said it was possible this could have occurred in late September 2016. Comey told the OIG that this information “didn’t index” with him, which he attributed to the way the information was presented to him and the fact that, “I don’t know that I knew that [Weiner] was married to Huma Abedin at the time.”

Let's jog Comey's memory and see if our Top Cop in America knew Weiner was married to Weiner:

July 10, 2010 Weiner marries Huma:

Comey missed that.

July 2012: Weiner Runs forMayor

Comey missed that.

July 2013

Comey missed that.

August 2016 Huma files for Divorce

Comey missed that

Attachments G and H are pretty sickening.

Captain Hate on the iPhone

"That’s why in 2018 I will vote for Democrats in U.S. Senate and House elections."

I have no idea who that clown is but I'll bet he's good buds with Orange Lush.

Kevlar Kid

The FBI identified eight (8) focal points, specific to the FBI, in the OIG Report:
conduct creating a perception that political bias could have influenced certain actions or

(2) violation of or disregard for DOJ or FBI policies by former Director James
Comey’s July 5, 2016, announcement and October 28, 2016, letter;

(3) issues involving media
contacts, leaks, and ethics rules on acceptance of gifts;

(4) former Deputy Director Andrew
McCabe’s recusal obligations;

(5) the use of personal email accounts;

(6) missteps in certain
investigatory processes;

(7) insubordination by former Director Comey; and

(8) the potentially
improper use of FBI systems and devices to exchange messages, the related referrals for
investigation, and the creation of additional warning banners and guidance.

The FBI’s accepts the OIG’s findings that certain text messages, instant messages, and
statements, along with a failure to consistently apply DOJ and FBI interview policies, were
inappropriate and created an appearance that political bias might have improperly influenced
investigative actions or decisions.

The Bureau also agrees with the OIG that, despite these errors and the damage they may have caused to the FBI’s reputation, there was no evidence of bias or other improper considerations affecting the handling of the Midyear Exam (MYE) investigation.

How was Comey's deliberate act of insubordination NOT predicated on bias?

How was his decision to be insubordinate not predicated on the Loretta Lynch okie doke that she'd accept whatever Comey recommended?

So there we have it: it's unanimous---no bias here. And tomorrow, Hillary Clinton will be cackling in front of cameras asking "What difference does it make?"

Kevlar Kid

So when is Sessions scheduled to give his "For the Good of the Country" speech?

Kevlar Kid

At this point why would Rosita resign?

So Hillary & Co. are safe and we're left hoping for the FISA/Russia IG report. I wonder when that one will drop. Probably not before November, I'd guess.

2020 Ext?

Clintoons win again by losing

Kevlar Kid

You may be right on both points, henry.

Question for everyone.

Has anyone seen anything in this IG Report that couldn't have been released to Congress and the Public in January or February or March or whenever the hell Horowitz said he would first release it?

Anything in there jump out at you that says "Oh, now I see from paragraph umpty-squat why they had to delay this report for months and months."?

That's a question I hope we get a legitimate answer to. I think it was delayed for ass covering and to let Singapore be a cover story to potentially knock it off the front pages.

"For just making the record, the report contains a lot of normative judgment."

Spot on, Henry.

And I still want Trey Gowdy to be given a blanket party by Seal Team 6.

Kevlar Kid

So far I haven't, daddy.

Kevlar Kid

There is a former FISA judge who holds the key to that entire dam-burst re FISA/Russia.

Eye Doctor

You would be hard pressed to find a more blatant whitewash

Dave (in MA)
let Singapore be a cover story to potentially knock it off the front pages.
And with that not having the intended effect, they had the charity suit stuff loaded in the torpedo tubes.

Horowitz seems to only implicate people when he has no choice. If there's the slightest availability of a judgment call, he absolves them.

As described in Chapter Seven of our report, the prosecutors concluded that the evidence did not support prosecution under any of these statutes for various reasons, including that former Secretary Clinton and her senior aides lacked the intent to communicate classified information on unclassified systems. Critical to their conclusion was that the emails in question lacked proper classification markings, that the senders often refrained from using specific classified facts or terms in emails and worded emails carefully in an attempt to “talk around” classified information, that the emails were sent to other government officials in furtherance of their official duties, and that former Secretary Clinton relied on the judgment of State Department employees to properly handle classified information, among other facts.
We further found that the statute that required the most complex analysis by the prosecutors was Section 793(f)(1), the “gross negligence” provision that has been the focus of much of the criticism of the declination decision. As we describe in Chapters Two and Seven of our report, the prosecutors analyzed the legislative history of Section 793(f)(1), relevant case law, and the Department’s prior interpretation of the statute. They concluded that Section 793(f)(1) likely required a state of mind that was “so gross as to almost suggest deliberate intention,” criminally reckless, or “something that falls just short of being willful,” as well as evidence that the individuals who sent emails containing classified information “knowingly” included or transferred such information onto unclassified systems. The Midyear team concluded that such proof was lacking. We found that this interpretation of Section 793(f)(1) was consistent with the Department’s historical approach in prior cases under different leadership

This exoneration reads like pure bullshit.

Make sure there is plenty of ice.

38 After reading the unidentified FBI agents' messages, and their disgust w the American public, can we just close the FBI HQ in DC, at a minimum. They actually belittled their fellow employees who appreciated their jobs, since they hated theirs. Of course, that is, until confronted by their comments and then it was all 1A "my personal beliefs." Then the couple (male and female) were all upstanding, dedicated employees.

Swampy likes the report:

[rats, won't let me cut & paste]

Brave New World

we have another lovely flashback to the unlovely 1980s happening again: a genuine textbook war. From the Detroit Journalism Cooperative:

While the standards still could be tweaked as a result of public comments, the current draft bears the imprint of several notable Michigan conservatives who served on a focus group charged with making changes to the standards, according to several members of the committee and officials at the Michigan Department of Education who spoke to Bridge, along with Colbeck, who is running as a Republican candidate for governor...

...Notable changes in the proposed new standards include:
- References to the Ku Klux Klan are decreased, from two to a single reference in eighth-grade, along with a mention in a list of optional examples high school history teachers can consider when teaching about social issues between 1890 and 1930. (Editor’s note: An earlier version of this story only listed the optional example mention of the KKK in the proposed standards.)
- Five existing references to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People have been cut, with a lone reference remaining in a section on the 1920s on its “legal strategy to attack segregation.”
- The two references to gays and lesbians in the current standards, in sections dealing with the fight for rights for minority groups, have been deleted.
- Both references in the current standards to Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 Supreme Court case legalizing abortion, are removed.
- A high school standard about the expansion of civil rights and liberties for minority groups cut references to individual groups, including immigrants, people with disabilities and gays and lesbians. The new proposal includes teaching “how the expansion of rights for some groups can be viewed as an infringement of rights and freedoms of others.” Colbeck told Bridge he added that phrase.
- References to climate change are cut in the proposed standards, with the impact of man on global warming limited to an optional example sixth-grade teachers can use when discussing climate in different parts of the planet. (The standards retain a more generic reference to teaching how "human actions modify the environment.") In notes Colbeck sent to the state board, the former aerospace engineer argues that climate change is “not settled science.”.

Sessions statement. Note his reference to Huber in the third paragraph:

NEW YORK – Attorney General Barbara D. Underwood today announced a lawsuit against the Donald J. Trump Foundation, and its directors, Donald J. Trump (“Mr. Trump”), Donald J. Trump, Jr., Ivanka Trump, and Eric Trump. The petition filed today alleges a pattern of persistent illegal conduct, occurring over more than a decade, that includes extensive unlawful political coordination with the Trump presidential campaign, repeated and willful self-dealing transactions to benefit Mr. Trump’s personal and business interests, and violations of basic legal obligations for non-profit foundations. The Attorney General initiated a special proceeding to dissolve the Trump Foundation under court supervision and obtain restitution of $2.8 million and additional penalties. The AG’s lawsuit also seeks a ban from future service as a director of a New York not-for-profit of 10 years for Mr. Trump and one year for each of the Foundation’s other board members, Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump, and Eric Trump. The Attorney General also sent referral letters today to the Internal Revenue Service and the Federal Election Commission, identifying possible violations of federal law for further investigation and legal action by those federal agencies.

Are you buying the nonsense that came out of Sessions

Looks like the Headline Ticker from the IG report is that "COMEY Broke Protocol."

That to me is a euphemism that means absolutely nothing. Even Judge Napolitano on the Show this second says the report is disappointing and that Comey ought to take his wife out for champaign tonight at some fancy restaurant, since the IG has cleared him of criminality in this IG Report.

When Host Liz asked if Hillary should be prosecuted for her E-Mail destruction Judge Nap says "Yes" and he blames Jeff Sessions for siting on his ass and doing nothing in that regard. How odd to agree with Judge Nap.

Old Lurker

Sorry, Clarice (your 5:00), I tried to read Ben Shapiro's 12 points but could not stop laughing at his opening line "The Department of Justice Inspector General’s report on the FBI’s handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation is a damning indictment."

That right there will probably be the last use of the word "indictment" any of us will see related to this sorry mess.

If a choice made by the investigative team was among two or more reasonable alternatives, we did not find that it was improper even if we believed that an alternative decision would have been more effective. Thus, a determination by the OIG that a decision was not unreasonable does not mean that the OIG has endorsed the decision or concluded that the decision was the most effective among the options considered. We took this approach because our role as an OIG is not to second-guess valid discretionary judgments made during the course of an investigation, and this approach is consistent with the OIG’s handling of such questions in past reviews.

So if there's even the slightest hint of a fig leaf, we're not complaining.

Sessions statement. Note his reference to Huber in the third paragraph

That statement actually was somewhat encouraging, especially the part about the possibility of a "Special Counsel."

What would be a nice follow-on to that statement would be the announcement of a Special Counsel to reopen the investigation. Horowitz may have concluded that the decision not to prosecute was reasonable, by his highly relaxed standard, but Sessions might decide that Horowitz isn't a prosecutor and that the whole question should be looked at by an actual prosecutor.

A guy can dream, can't he?

I'm not as upset as the rest of you, although I tarted out that way. It may be the cocktail or maybe the 500 pages of dirt we can rely on for a long time to come. The FBI has lost all credibility and that includes Mueller.

I can't find copyable text of the Sessions statement, but he said that Huber is reviewing "prosecutorial and investigative determinations made by the Department in 2016 and 2017" and will recommend whether they need to be reopened and/or whether a special counsel should be appointed.

Seems somewhat ominous, at least to a dreamer.

Wray continues:

...The report does identify errors of judgement, violations of or even disregard for policy, and decision that at the very least with the benefit of hindsight were not the best choices.

We have already started taking the necessary steps to address those issues.

First we are going to hold employees accountable (BULLSHIT---Prove It) for any potential misconduct. We have already referred conduct highlighted in the report to our disciplinary arm, OPR which is our independent FBI Office of Professional Responsibility, to hold our selves accountable for the choices we make. We're doing that fairly but without delay in a way that people should expect. We are going to adhere to the appropriate disciplinary process, and once that process is complete we won;t hesitate to hold people accountable for their actions.

Cheer up everyone! Our tax dollars are paying for the lifetime pensions! Ugh! Hubby has been saying lots of bad words,so this isn't good. This Wray presser is pathetic!
