Another very encouraging jobs report, with just one quibble - if the job market is so tight, why aren't wages rising? One factor - formerly discouraged workers are re-entering the work force (good!) but that holds down wage increases and actually raised the reported unemployment rate this month.
Tick tock. Democrats hoping for a bad economy to bolster their inevitable Blue Wave might want to start working on a fresh fantasy.
Foreigner's one of those group who made me roll my eyes but when their songs would come on the classic crock stations in my car I wouldn't automatically hit another preset.

So that's where the blue note catalog comes from.
They've been bought and sold many times. I don't know if they're putting out new stuff now because I think the last time I bought a new record from them was in the 90s.

Some idiot decided last year to change the AAA team in Gwinnett county (ATL suburbs - other side of town from the big boy stadium) from the BRAVES to the Gwinnett Stripers as they are close to Lake Lanier. WTF do fish have to do with Braves?
One casualty is no more tomahawk chop at the AAA franchise. I'm betting the next move will be to change the "Braves" name to something similar so they can 'retire' the chop w/o causing a furor. F'n libs.

I don't care enough about Foreigner, Boston or Journey to pay to see their concerts. Journey was here playing at the Big boy Braves stadium this week with Def Leopard, but $99 a tix and still a NOPE from me. We went to a Journey cover band concert last Friday for $80 for a table for 4 with excellent craft beer, no lines for the bathroom and no drunks barfing or weed smoke to deal with. Close enough for me.
BTW the craft beer Creature Comfort was so excellent I went for a beer at the club last night instead of my usual scotch. Got the beer itch back again.

LOL Dacula is about 15 minutes from me. Excellent golf course up there. Trophy Club of Apalachee.
Hole #5 is lovingly referred to as the Great Wall of China as you tee off from the women's tees at the base of the cliff and it's about 85 feet uphill to the hole and a cliff face and stream if you miss the green. The drop zone is about 10 feet right of the women's tees so not really any relief. I saw a HS chick get a 19 on that par 3 one time. Yike!

Going through my LPs prompted me to find that and put it up, but I recall the Neil Young quote "Listening to digital music is like viewing a masterpiece painting through a screen window". Myself, I don't have the ear to know if that is true. My youtube feed is putting up some great stuff behind Dave Mason, including Prince's While my Guitfiddle is triggered. I remember DOT posting that one.

Steph, Journey and DEF ZEPPELIN played here at SUMMERFEST, the biggest music festival in the WORLD a few days ago. I've seen them for free and actually been on the bill with one or the other a couple times. How do bands like that command headline status for 30,000 at RIDICULOUS PRICES, after years in the wilderness.
IN OTHER NEWS. Cheap Trick plays SUMMERFEST, on the second biggest stage tomorrow night at 10:30.
I'll be there. I don't have to pay.

Reclaimed Rye. Loved it.
I've never really paid attention to what beers taste like x or y or z (pilsner v ale v porters etc), but have always liked lagers and ales over others. My go to used to be Sam Adams if there were no craft beers available, but their politics sux so been scouting for a new choice. Now to find some craft beer places in our neck of the woods. Out here the consider Blue Moon and Sweetwater 'craft beers.'

We went to MASS today at 4:30, and life is good.

Awesome Gus!
I've found over the last few years I can't abide big concerts as I'd prefer the fans all 'get off my lawn!' Too many idiots!
Good friend of mine from HS (he was my assigned football player for locker decorating, TP rolling of his house and stuff for cheerleading/drill team) is/was a tour manager or some such title, and he flew all over the world working Aerosmith, Lady GaGa, Prince, and other big names.
He'd do the entire tour with them and has the most fabulous pics with the members from Australia, Germany Japan, etc. He retired when he and his wife were flown home from the Aerosmith tour when she got sick... she died two weeks later from cancer and all the Tyler's turned out for her funeral. Stu Baby still has the contacts for concert tix if I want to go, but I'd rather avoid the crowds. Just getting too old I guess.

CH:
that Dave Mason LP is "Alone Together", came out in 1970 during freshman year of high school.
his rythm guitar on the studio version of Hendrix' "All Along the Watchtower" brought him to my attention... fifth or sixth grade...i was taking lessons back then.
my favorite by him: Baby Please
saw this done live at Keystone in Berkeley. Gerald Johnson sat in. Back in 73. they tore it up and closed with a 20 minute rendition of BP. Dave brought 2 young guitar players out for solos. no one wanted to go home. Chuck Rainey plays bass on the studio cut (LP: It's Like You Never Left-- Leon Russell and S. Wonder appear on a cut "The Lonely One").
i'm into Mason a lil ;) as for Winwood, "I'm a Man" broke into my brain in 67 (age 12)... Traffic's "Welcome to the Canteen" was a staple vinyl spin during after study midnight smoke outs in college.
my favorite rendition of a Winwood tune that somebody here at JOM spun one night not too long ago, featuring Clapton and Derek Trucks:
Can't Find My Way Home
here's a Blind Faith live version some great early Clapton on here. Ginger Baker on drums: Live "Can't"
that is all LOL

Another suggestion as to why the Rosenbergs were sentenced to death - The MIG 15.
Taken from this great July 8, 2018 American Thinker article 'America's Junk Weapons'
By J.R. Dunn:
"...It was all a mirage. The simple truth was that all the “science” and “technology” embodied by the MiG-15 came directly from Western sources. That outstanding engine was the Rolls-Royce Nene, built under a license granted in a fit a suicidal madness by the Atlee Labour government. And the rest…
The rest was a gift to the comrades by the Rosenberg spy network. Along with data on the Manhattan Project, Ethel and Julius also sent east anything else available. One member of the network was William Perl, a physicist and aeronautical researcher for the National Committee on Aeronautics (NACA), the predecessor of NASA. Perl was the source of all kinds of swell material, including the full developmental data on the P-80, the first U.S. jet, but even more important, the wind tunnel data for the F-86.
This was nearly as important as the A-bomb material. In fact, it may have killed Ethel and Julius. Judge Irving Kaufmann, who handed down the death sentence, was beside himself over the fact that Americans were being killed in Korea using information turned over by the Rosenbergs even as the trial proceeded. This could only have referred to the F-86 data. (Perl himself lucked out, serving only two concurrent five-year terms for perjury...)"

"The B-70 went through an immensely successful test program. The USAF had an epoch-making aircraft on its hands, one that would render every other bomber immediately obsolete as soon as it was operational.
No matter – on March 28, 1961 the program was “reoriented” toward testing and development – a sneaky method of cancelling it without saying so.
The ostensible reason was that the downing of the U-2 over the USSR on May I, 1960 demonstrated that it was too vulnerable to Soviet SAMs. (In fact, it wasn’t until years later that the public learned the Gary Powers’ U-2 had flamed out at its cruising altitude of 70,000 ft. and had glided down to 40,000 ft. before is was struck by a SAM)..."

PPS:
Francis Gary Powers Jr. Spent many years talking about his father and the Cold War in general. He never stopped pushing to raise funds for a Cold War museum.
A Cold War Museum is now located at Vint Hill, Warrenton, Virginia. The museum has an interesting lecture program.

From the previous thread (one of three)
Another suggestion as to why the Rosenbergs were sentenced to death - The MIG 15.
