Embattled FBI agent Peter Strzok takes his tale to Congress. Ken White of the many hats says it best:
Based on reactions people are watching two entirely different Strzok hearings with different casts and directors.
I take special umbrage to this:
“I understand we are living in a political era in which insults and insinuation often drown out honesty and integrity,” Mr. Strzok said, continuing: “I have the utmost respect for Congress’s oversight role, but I truly believe that today’s hearing is just another victory notch in Putin’s belt and another milestone in our enemies’ campaign to tear America apart.”
Yeah, yeah - sort of like how anti-war protestors were pro-Saddam, or pro-ISIS.
Or, more to the point, the original Russian plan seemed to be to divide the US electorate and de-legitimize the eventual winner, whomever that might have been. So one might just as well say that every time some member of The Resistance denounces Trump as a Russian pawn, Putin laughs. Does Strzok truly believe that this FBI 'investigation' is a victory notch in Putin's belt? Probably not.
Oneth.

Well, that was certainly something.
Now this dem is calling this a "Russian show trial."
Now he is reading emails of NeverTrumpers.

I don't know if it was live or not but I just heard a little bit of Stzok treading water while I moved my car into the shade. What a weasel.

Bringing forward:
daddy sez "...then were selectively given their Clearances back so that they could be allowed to look at their work material to prepare for their testimonies. It may have been Gowdy who said that."
Then just like Gen. Flynn.
Oh, wait!

A good question has been asked:
How do we know that this attitude isn't rampant throughout the FBI?

This hearing forced me to start cocktail hour early. I take no responsibility going forward!

I don't know how the Ds could be more disgusting in this Strzok hearing.
Posted by: glasater | July 12, 2018 at 03:33 PM
Other than his lies I think the most damaging testimony has been about his "smelling" Trump supporters.

Does Strzok truly believe that this FBI 'investigation' is a victory notch in Putin's belt? Probably not.
TM,
I think the word you were looking for there is "deflection", and for the guy who famously texted "[that] there is no there, there" is now using Russia, Russia as a consideration of the political intent of the hearing, is beyond irony. And think about it, he is demonstrating, like his bosses, Comey and McNabe, what a bunch of know-it-all, arrogant power players the FBI has become. I wonder how many innocent people are in jail or dead because of them, and how many guilty people like Hillary are walking free as jaybirds?

Watching this shit Strzok base his lack of bias on Horowitz's IG Report makes me personally want to slap Horowitz. Oh well.
I don't know what happened earlier but from the little I have seen Gohmert in my opinion moved momentum in the direction of Strzok and the Dems. I considered Gohmert's poorly stated and poorly focused emotional rant almost equivalent to that old McCarthy Hearing thing we've always heard about "Have you no Shame , Congressman?, have you no shame."
Just my opinion but Gohmert did the cause of Justice no favors today. He might as well just have put a big "KICK ME" sign on the back of the Republicans.

Weasels and snakes are not evil animals. I've decided the appropriate creature is the scorpion. They have no redeeming quality and live only to strike and kill.

How do we know that this attitude isn't rampant throughout the FBI?
Based on everything we’ve seen the FBI’s leadership and senior personnel do and say over the last two years (and the absence of principled resignations or whistleblower leaks from lower level employees), it seems pretty clear that this attitude IS rampant throughout the FBI.
Posted by: James D. | July 12, 2018 at 03:35 PM
The coup participants need to keep different options open. If Stormy/Cohen or Trump is Psychiatrically Unfit for Office or Trump Is Acting As a Tyrant Would doesn't work, there's always the Mueller/Russian Collusion angle. And even if there is no basis for that angle, if the coup plotters can keep that one going, perhaps Mueller will hoke up a financial crime.
The coup plotters are the most dangerous sort to a republic in that they are doing this not only for power and money, but also because they truly believe that protecting and enhancing the post-modern therapeutic borderless state framework is doing Gaia's work.

Posted by: Bunky | July 12, 2018 at 03:38 PM
I think it all started under FBI director Robert Mueller, when you think about it. But then the FBI has always been tainted when you consider the crap J.Edgar pulled in his spying and extortion activities.
How about all the domestic Islamic terror attacks where the FBI knew of perps beforehand, and had interviewed them as possible terrorists?
Posted by: Jim Eagle | July 12, 2018 at 03:38 PM
I’m pretty sure no one but die hard political junkies are watching the hearing. I’m watching reruns of NCIS. And late night tv, where most get their news anyway, will have Strzok winning no matter who is asking the questions. Or grandstanding. That’s all these hearings are anyway. Theater.

I had a friend who was a prosecutor before he joined the old firm, tell me that it is easy to spot liars during interrogatories or in examination. A liar must remember every lie. If you tell the truth, not so much. So, like Jordan, Gowdy and other's, they are plugging away to find which lie Strzok can't remember, and I think, today they found a few.

"Definition of éclat;

M2M, daddy, thanks for the link to the Hereford monastic library--how cool. And the sidebar at the BBC site led to "the donkey libraries of Columbia," with a very cute donkey saddled with large book bags--like the Bookmobile but a donkeymobile! That was very cute. As for the manuscripts at Herculaneum, there was a thriving Christian community there when the volcano blew, and so what I would particularly want would be to affirm the pre-70 AD date of the Gospels! That would be proof indeed.

My conclusions:
1. The FBI should be disbanded, except for the fingerprint and forensics labs, which can serve as resources for state and local police departments.
2. Intelligence should be turned over to the military, who screen people better and swear an oath which they are held accountable to.
3. Retire everyone in the FBI with their pensions, with the requirement that they not work in government again.

Dental update - endodontist found a crack in my tooth so no root canal. Was sent immediately to an oral surgeon who (thankfully) worked me in and extracted the molar.
Now I'll need a bridge or implant $$$. Endodontist says the accident possibly caused the tooth to crack. Was glad to be numb for several hours and now I'm home with antibiotics and hydrocodone. No alcohol so I cannot join you in an early cocktail but grateful to have that part behind me.
They thought my BP was excellent for being in pain and facing the procedure (122/88) so I obviously had not been watching or listening to the hearings. :)

There are plenty of horror stories about incompetence, corruption and rampant perjury with the FBI’s forensics unit, too. I don’t think they get a pass,
No to the pensions, too. I have no interest in paying lavish benefits to people who despise me and are trying to overthrow my President. I’m willing to go as far as letting them walk with no retirement, and a lifetime ban on working in any capacity for any government or law enforcement at any level, in return for not prosecuting them for treason.

I think I posted here the delta in numbers of TSC(crypto) clearances when I got mine in 1966 and the present today. It was an astronomical increase. Back then all the service Investigative agencies like ncis and osi did the background checks. 26 weeks minimun. Now its contracted out. 8 weeks minimum.
Better criminal and drug records, better school records, better employment records, but it just means lots of duds slip through. I mean lots.
