pagar, a bacon, ham and sausage supporter

where are all the people?

Captain Hate

Last night's game was boring even though I was cheering for the Sox.

What was your first clue, dominic:

TM, I suppose it's better than penalty kicks.

They are going great guns, ahem:

I suppose it's better than penalty kicks.

The idiots at MLB have been experimenting in some of the minor leagues with starting extra innings with a runner on 2nd. If they even think of bringing that to the majors they should be tarred, feathered, and run out of town. Or I'm sure James D can come up with something more creative.

Something even worse than the DH? Sounds like just the thing they'll add for the playoffs.

Brooklyn Girls leave the house 10 minutes before their ass, amirite?

Brought over from the old thread:

I'm looking around for something new to post and comment on. And it seems like we've already discussed all the new stuff today, er, yesterday.

So, who the hell is strategizing for the Democrats? Does anybody see a plan here?

Stampeded into the tired gun control argument after Parkland. Stampeded into the cruelty against separated families(?) on the southern border. Raising the ante to abolishing the ICE. Harassing women in restaurants. Maxine Waters ordering that we escalate such behavior. Mumbles Pelosi. Chuck Schumbag pontificating on the SC pick.

There is so much stupid stuff going on that I can't keep it all straight.

Sanders harassed at a restaurant? Why would anybody do that to Bernie? Oh right, Huckabee Sanders. I honestly forgot.

Antifa in Portland, OR? Loved that one-punch smack-down.

Are their no leaders in the Democratic Party? Plotting out how to win the mid-terms? Where are the adults in the room? What meds is Pelosi taking that inhibit her ability to do a simple press conference without incoherence.

Sorry if I'm rambling, but I just don't see a viable strategy. It's like they have decided to drive every normal into the Trump camp.

If you take what Wictor says about Mueller and Rosenstein having loyalty only to themselves as gospel, to me that puts them in the worst light possible. Whether they are/were part of any conspiracy doesn’t matter. They’re loyalty is supposed to be to the constitution and their oaths. They can both DIAF. If they want to play the survival game they can both go to the private sector and play their games on someone else’s dime.

jim nj,

It doesn’t appear that there are any adults in the progtard playpen. It seems that they’ve hit the “Do not press” button and the self-destruct countdown is well on its way. They’re startegery meetings have to be as incoherent as a Pelosi news conference.

I wish I could’ve been in the meeting when they decided the best course of action would be to piss off the people with jobs and guns.

Trying to figure out the motivations of all these people is head-ache inducing.

We're trying to figure who are the good guys and the bad guys. I'm defaulting back to the idea that they are just guys. Who don't want to lose their jobs or go to jail. Whatever is going on, I think self-interest rules out over all. It doesn't matter on whose side they started out on. There's a new sheriff in town, I'm sure they can adapt accordingly.

The biggest thing for me over the last few days was Rosensteins's contention that the FISA application has been mis-characterized by the media. I don't know what to make of that. The FISA thing isn't what we thought it was. Originally, or later iterations? Did the focus change, or was it never what we thought it was.

We've been arguing about the scope of the FISA investigation for more than a year. Have we been wrong all that time? I don't understand.

They can disappear 30,000 emails, so I don't think they will break a sweat disappearing one video.

jim nj,
I think we’ve been lied to all along regarding FISA.

I wasn't willing to go that far in my post, but that is at least one logical conclusion. The only one? I can't make that leap yet.

Have we been lied to, or at least not told the full truth? That seems more and more likely.

Have we spent too much time speculating on what we think we know, when maybe we don't know anything?

Mind you all, I enjoy the speculating, trying to find the truth. It's a valid endeavor. It leads to a lot of arguments. Lots of micro-speculation, but maybe what they are working on is so complex, that the clues we have been given, are out there to protect the true investigation.

If so, if you forget about good guys and bad guys, maybe both sides are being subjected to planted leaks.

And you know, that's new thought to me, I've thought we were peeling back the layers of the onion. What if we have the wrong onion?

Miss Marple the Deplorable

As you guys know, I have become increasingly disenchanted with the Bushes.

Well, that is NOTHING compared to the animosity Wictor holds for them. He makes a pretty good case here:

jim nj

Thank you for the Wictor thread. When I watched the video at real-time speed I was amazed at the economy of movement. The guy blocks two or three baton strikes and just lays the guy out.

And that seems to be the philosophy of antifa. Don't confront a conservative without a weapon. And make sure it's a stand-off weapon like an extended baton so you don't have to get close to do damage. Because if you get close, your wimpiness, is your greatest disadvantage.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Wictor also has some observations on North Korea:

This is interesting in light of President Trump's congratulatory tweet to Obrador.

Notice how he treated Obraador like an equal, and not the leftist head of a failing narco-state. It shows sensitivity to Obrador's culture and sets up the possibility of a cooperative relationship rather than an adversarial one.

Bless you and your good pop, SBW.

When mine passed I was at his side and I recall reciting bits of his favorite poem:

It comforted us, so I hope it comforts you.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

jim nj,

Glad you appreciated the analysis in that thread.

Well, I've provided some overnight reading. I need to go back to bed.

The reason I am up is that my son got ome from his restaurant job and the dogs woke me.

jim nj

You know if we're going to have to do urban warfare, we should have conservative outriders. They wouldn't be near the protest site, but should be near enough to pick off the antifa before they coalesce. Anyone with with a face cover would be fair game. Disarm them. Photograph them - take away their anonymity and weapons, and if need be beat them up. Reveal them to their employers.

Why isn't some law enforcement agency going after them. Use the same technology we used in Iraq, to photograph them and create a network profile.

If you look at this pic from the comments to Miss M's top Wictor link, it appears White Sleeves has been arrested by the Portland Police.

Talk about history repeats itself:

A 18-year-old leftist has been beaten to death by a group of alleged neo-Nazis in central Paris in what French authorities described as a politically motivated attack.

Clement Meric, a student at Sciences Po University, was declared brain dead by doctors at a Paris hospital where he was taken in critical conditions after the assault.

Interior minister Manuel Valls said a dispute between left-wingers and skinheads erupted at a clothes sale in Paris 9th district.

Meric and three of his friends were attending a Fred Perry private sale in the central Rue de Caumartin when a group of four neo-Nazis, including a woman, arrived at the premises.

Eyewitnesses told Le Monde the four sported shaved heads and swastika tattoos; one wore a sweatshirt of British neo-Nazi group Blood and Honour.

Meric, a member of campaigning group Action Anti-fasciste, and his friends reportedly started mocking the skinheads' over their outfit and the subsequent verbal dispute eventually became violent as the two groups moved outside in the street.

Meric was reportedly punched with a knuckle-duster and hit his head on the pavement.

Millions of people are exposed to extreme anti-journalistic views daily. Example: memes equating journalists to terrorists. This is harmful. Brian Stelter

Glenn Beck said his respect for CNN’s Brian Stelter “is fading,” and accused him on his Monday radio program of having “Trump Derangement Syndrome” when explaining why he abruptly walked away from an interview with the “Reliable Sources" host.

Beck, conservative commentator and CEO of TheBlaze, walked out of a CNN interview Sunday morning after he was questioned by Stelter about the future TheBlaze.

Beck, a former Fox News host, said he reads Stelter’s nightly media newsletter and has seen the increase of “Trump Derangement Syndrome” in his work. Despite what he sees as an anti-Trump bias, Beck told his radio listeners that he was “foolish enough” to go on the CNN program.

Beck said he was irked before his segment because he “made the mistake” of “actually watching the show” prior to his interview. Beck was peeved that George Takei compared the border to Japanese internment camps and that TIME Magazine’s top editor was able to defend a misleading cover, with neither getting pushback from Stelter.

“I was asked to go on and talk about why the media just isn’t heard by the right,” Beck said, explaining that Stelter’s show was “example after example after example” of why nobody is listening to the media.

What Do?

Would you ever say that your loved one “committed cancer” or “committed a heart attack”? Sounds strange, right? This is how it feels to hear people say that your loved one committed suicide, implying that they should be blamed for their illness.

Until my brother’s death in February 2010, I had no awareness for the language used to describe suicide. But now when I hear “committed suicide,” it feels like nails on a chalkboard; I literally shudder.

Historically, suicide was treated as a criminal act in many parts of the world. Thank goodness the laws have changed, but our language has not caught up. The shame associated with the committal of a crime remains attached to suicide, like a painful residue. But I do not own any shame for how my brother died. He did not commit a crime. He resorted to suicide, which he perceived in his unwell mind to be the only possible solution to end his suffering caused by a very dark and deep depression. In fact, 90% of people who die by suicide – repeat: die by suicide (this is the correct language) – have a diagnosable and treatable psychiatric disorder at the time of their death, most commonly depression.

So please, stop saying committed suicide. Think of how you would describe that you lost someone to any other illness. Like cancer or heart disease, suicide is a public health issue. By adjusting our language around suicide, we can change its stigma and reduce the shame carried by some survivors of suicide.

sbw wrote a lovely bio to his dad last night after many of us had quit reading for the night. I didn't want anyone to miss it if they simply started reading on the new thread this morning. Here we go--

"I think I have more tears from the compassion at JOM than from knowing, in my stoic way, that it may be time for Dad. Thank you all.

George Bausch Waters was (is) a handsome, quiet man, a loner who found it hard to express his love but who taught all five of us, in our Tom Swift-like basement with woodworking, metalworking, photo, painting, electronics, trains, and target range, all to be independent, self-sufficient, and caring.

He was an early communication major (radio) at Syracuse University who announced at WSYR.

In his time, he was field promoted to captain of the anti-tank company of the 222nd regiment of the 42nd Rainbow division and, after the promotion, saved the lives of the company by giving his first order to retreat.

After the war, he added two new presses and a new building to the newspaper, started Rome’s AM and FM radio station for the newspaper, built a new library, a new junior high, a new hospital wing, an art center, and a new manufacturing and retail area in the community, all by not taking credit.

For some 50 years he participated in the longest running poverty poker game ($8 limit) every Friday in Rome.

Mom called him brilliant, in a different way from others, able to judge character and get things done.

Quiet, remarkable man. Self-depreciating, he once went in to lie down for his regular nap during the TV news after dinner and said, “I think I’ll go in and preconceive some notions.”

Thank you all."

If they even think of bringing that to the majors they should be tarred, feathered, and run out of town. Or I'm sure James D can come up with something more creative.

Oh, I think i can.

If I had my way, the DH would be eliminated, and we’d go back to 10 teams in each league, winners go straight to the World Series.

I suppose I could maybe possibly tolerate returning to the 1969 format, with 12 teams in each league, two divisions, best of 5 playoff for the league pennant. But no more than that, and I consider that a massive compromise.

And while I’m at it, I would abolish all the new made-up “analytic” stats and all the other modern nonsense that has infested the game.

Larry Schwweikhart has a short thread with yet a different speculation on Huber's task, and it isn't one I particularly like:

Deputy Prime Minister Wan Azizah Wan Ismail of Malaysia has expressed concerns over a report that an 11-year-old Thai girl has been taken as a wife by a Malaysian man 30 years her senior, according to Malaysian media.

It reported that she has instructed officials of the Social Welfare Department to conduct a thorough investigation after the report has gone viral on social media.

The Malaysian man is reported to be 41 years old and is a father of six and a self-proclaimed imam at a village in Kelantan. The 11-year-old girl was reportedly taken as his third wife in a ceremony in Sungai Golok, Narathiwat, two week. The marriage was reportedly blessed by the girl’s parents.

Bernama quoted Wan Azizah as saying that the marriage is illegal because it had not received the consent of the Syariah court as the girl was under the minimum legal age for marriage.

A jury just handed down its decision. It led John Phillips, the family's attorney, to issue a bold proclamation: "Black lives don't matter."

At first, the jury gave the man's family $4. That includes a single dollar for each of Hill's children — aged 7, 10 and 13 — and another dollar for the man's funeral expenses, NBC reported. But the jury found that Hill, who had been drinking at the time, was 99 percent at fault for his own death.

So that $4 was then reduced to just four cents.

Monique Davis, the fiancee of Hill, told NBC that the decision left her feeling shocked.

"My heart just dropped," she said.. "It was like, are y'all serious?"

Phillips lamented that the jury sent the message that they "viewed these childrens' pain as virtually worthless."

"I'd have rather seen a zero," he told NBC, "than have to tell the children that their pain and suffering for losing their father is only a dollar."

Sheriff Ken J. Mascara praised the jury's decision, writing "we are pleased to see this difficult and tragic incident come to a conclusion."

That is a case that should never have been brought to court and a jury that understood who actually pays these verdicts. Last time I was on a jury it was the black wife of a professor who held the line of what the jury verdict should be to what turned out to be less than what the plaintiff was offered before the trial to settle per the judge who talked to us after the verdict. A Ga State student had wanted to give the woman a 6 figure settlement as a lottery type winning. My friends who do defense jury work tell me students make terrible jurors and they always strike them when they can.

He was at largely fault for losing his life. It was racist to take that case to court in the first place. The jury said basically that the facts of the case do matter even if you are black.

Short breaking news story so I will put the whole thing hereL=:

PENDLETON, Oregon – The operator of Yummm Frozen Yogurt in Pendleton was taken into custody by FBI agents without incident Friday. FBI Public Information Officer Beth Anne Steele reports that the arrest of Jason Robert Newsom, 42, of Pendleton, was performed on a secret indictment.

The details of the case against Newsom might be made public once he is arraigned before a federal magistrate. Steele says this could happen as soon as tomorrow. On the Umatilla County Jail roster, Newsom is pictured. Instead of outlining charges against him, it simply states “in-state hold,” with no bond.

On the Yummm Frozen Yogurt Facebook page, an announcement has been posted that the store is temporarily closed.

“We had something unexpected come up and will be closed until further notice,” the post states.

This is of interest for 2 reasons:

1. Note that it was a sealed indictment, no bond, and we still don't know the charges.

2. Comments on the Twitter post indicate that it MIGHT be human trafficking.

for jim-nj re the diffuse leadership of the Islamic conquest legacy and modern day applications.

Islam hasn't needed a "top leader" when it comes to jihad against the United States. The power behind Islamic doctrine, the spread of it, and the submission to it received significant aiding and abettance from Mr. Obama.

Some little birdies gathered here in my area back in 2015 to read, dissect, and study this seminal work by an author banned by Valerie Jarrett from any involvement in government analyst training against the Islamic jihadist thread (both jihadi lite and militant-destructo a la Tsaernevs et alia.)

Catastrophic Failure: Blindfolding America in the Face of Jihad Paperback – May 4, 2015

From the Amazon blurb. This book is a must-read. I hope Mr. Bolton has brought Mr. Coughlin back and that he's training trainers to re-start the red pill briefings. Time is of the essence.

"The book, drawn heavily from Coughlin’s “outlawed” briefings, is a comprehensive assessment of Islamic law and doctrine known to form the basis of hostile threat strategies directed against America and the West, the challenges they present, and the ideologically induced breakdown of fact-based decisionmaking that is nothing short of professional malpractice by our national security elites."

Further for more background:

"After the events of September 11, 2001, Stephen Coughlin was mobilized from his private sector career to the Intelligence Directorate at the Joint Chiefs of Staff to work in Targeting.

Thus began his education in terrorism.

In the years that followed, Coughlin earned recognition as the Pentagon’s leading expert on the Islamic-based doctrines motivating jihadi groups that confront America.

He came into demand as a trainer and lecturer at leading commands and senior service staff institutions, including the National Defense University, the Army and Navy War Colleges, the Marine Corps-Quantico, the State Department, and the FBI. So effective were his presentations that some in the special operations community dubbed them “Red Pill” briefings, a reference to an iconic scene in The Matrix.

It’s an apt metaphor: Once the facts and doctrines are properly explained and understood, there is no going back.

This was more than our enemies – and, it seems, our leaders – could tolerate.

Beginning in 2011, the Muslim Brotherhood convinced the White House to ban Coughlin and put an end to his briefings.

The move was in keeping with shariah concepts of slander that seek to blindfold America to certain realities that render us defenseless against a threat made existential by the very ignorance it gets our leaders to enforce.

In times like this [during the Obama/Jarrett administration] – when the White House’s former counterterrorism strategist can declare it unconstitutional to allow national security analysts to look to Islam to understand jihad – there’s an urgent need to pull away the blindfold so we can see and confront the threat.

Such is the goal of

    Catastrophic Failure

IMO, Painter's hold on reality should be investigated.
