The Press isn't lazy, they don't report what they don't want you to know. It is a lot harder to lie than tell the truth.

Michael W. Perry

Quote: I feel like my literal existence hurts people, like I’m always taking up space that should belong to someone else.

Two remarks come readily to mind.

1. She's right, her attitudes toward people do hurt, particularly her inability to see black people as incapable of controlling and ordering their lives. I grew up in the segregated South. Even the worst of racist still believed that many black people could manage their lives well. She doesn't.

2. She has a secret point of pride. She's neither a NRA member nor is she involved in prolife counseling. She believes that gun safety is best taught by television and movies. She also believes, while it is bad that the arrest rate of young black men is higher than that of whites, she also delights that the black abortion rate is far higher.

We think this is terrible, but can you imagine the terror that sensible liberal Democrats feel when they realize that much of their support comes from people like this.

hrtshpdbox

Netflix has cancelled Michele Wolf's show. Presumably not due to low ratings, because Netflix doesn't even track ratings, so there would be hope the network canned the "comic" in outrage at her Sarah Sanders remarks, or pro-abortion "jokes". Alas, no, as Netflix doesn't seem ready to also cancel their mega deal with the Obama's.

hrtshpdbox

...much of their support comes from people like this.

Worth remembering that those lines (my existence taking up space that others could use, etc) are part of a spoof letter to the Times, even if the Times writers who answered the letter are aligned 100% with its views.

Social Media is totally discriminating against Republican/Conservative voices. Speaking loudly and clearly for the Trump Administration, we won’t let that happen. They are closing down the opinions of many people on the RIGHT, while at the same time doing nothing to others.......

.....Censorship is a very dangerous thing & absolutely impossible to police. If you are weeding out Fake News, there is nothing so Fake as CNN & MSNBC, & yet I do not ask that their sick behavior be removed. I get used to it and watch with a grain of salt, or don’t watch at all..

....Too many voices are being destroyed, some good & some bad, and that cannot be allowed to happen. Who is making the choices, because I can already tell you that too many mistakes are being made. Let everybody participate, good & bad, and we will all just have to figure it out!

All of the fools that are so focused on looking only at Russia should start also looking in another direction, China. But in the end, if we are smart, tough and well prepared, we will get along with everyone!

The WaPo today is utterly mad--features a tale that Austria was cut out of allied intel gathering because it stripped the security clearances of a number of its team, runs on to a report by two academics from Berkeley about how the rich cheat more than the poor, and so on. I guess they missed Titania's letter.
The paper is unreadable garbage.

re Roundup and glyphosate... i was shocked when Monsanto began marketing Roundup to the urban market for chemical weed control by homeowners and municipalities, including weed control along waterways, drainage ditches and public thoroughfares.

We switched from using paraquat to Roundup in order to no-till soybeans after winter wheat, or to no-till land that was out of rotation for a year. we'd go in with a PVC pipe fitted with nylon rope to make "wicks" that would transfer Roundup from the PVC pipe onto the foliage in the field. No drift. Weeds would die in a week and we'd run a no-till planter through the debris.

Nowadays Roundup is sprayed in most places its used as a defoliant. And that is a whole lot of drift.

The idiot in that court case claims he was soaked in it. They should have fired him for being a hazard to himself and others. But the urban use of that kind of herbicide with that kind of killing power is absurd. Creating powerfully resistant strains of noxious plants will only mean the need to use more toxic defoliants.

There is a connection between paying a one-man crew to drive around with a tank of that lethal slurry, versus paying ground crews to manually remove foliage: the salaries and pensions of municipal workers. Roundup is marketed as a "cost-saving" and "safe" alternative to paraquat, 2-4-d and Agent Orange (okay that last one is a joke but 2-4-d is still legal to use and IS the active killing ingredient in AO).

But you get my drift (DOH!)

Good read: "The War on Bugs" by Will Allen (one of the pioneers of modern Organic Ag in America....was a California farmer in the eastern Central Valley north of Fresno for years).

The profuse application of Roundup is part of the balance issue affecting bees and other benevolents. Legislators and judges seldom seem to deal well with complex issues created by introduction of lethal compounds into the food chain.

It's getting harder and harder to keep bee colonies alive. That's the 2 ton elephant in the conference rooms and on our farms---- do the Communist Chinese owned farms give a rat's heinie? (for example).

Certainly won't advocate for a ready-fire-aim approach. But the Monsanto lobby needs to be checked, and checked soon. Big Deep State player if you ask me.

Clarice Feldman

No scientific research of note, indicates roundup is cancer causing. Looking at the combination of greedy people looking for deep pockets, the idiocy of California judges and the scientific illiteray of California jurors, were I a manufacturer I'd ban the sale of anything in that state.

The pursuit of smoking guns re "cancer causing" agents of whatever whatever---

when it comes to glyphosate, it isn't the cancer causing agent some would allege. what is left in the "might" category are all the ingredients that make glyphosate effective as a weed killer, which "might" in combination result in cancer causing compounds.

Roundup isn't pure glyphosate. Like cigarettes aren't just "pure tobacco" but tobacco steeped in additives to make the "delivery system" efficient (saltpeter, chocolate, glycerine- to keep it burning---yada yada). No one really knows WHAT causes the cancer or emphysema or the coronary disease etc.... Being a Roundup applicating farmer or field worker has an association with non-Hodgkins lymphoma.... smoking guns? Nope. Just sick people who die etc who had high exposure to pesticides.

No one is measuring or filing medical data on orchard workers, vineyard workers etc etc who have prolonged seasonal exposures to a plethora of agri-chems....so WTFKnows anything on the ground for sure?

Here’s the fun part so far, not including the blast we had Thursday evening with the JOM gang: I was chatting with the bride’s uncle who we met briefly about 30 years ago. After the secret handshake so we could talk without reservation, he admits to being hired by Eric Holder! Considers him to be about the most corrupt POS to ever show up in DC. The Mark Rich mess alone should have been enough to put him in front of a firing squad. EXCEPT that he was specifically chosen because of his skin color so he would never be touched.

He also knows Bruce Ohr very well! Considers him to be dumber than a bag of hammers. But assumes that is par for the course given he’s a Harvard Law grad. Did I mention he’s also a lawyer?

John Brennan: I Didn’t Mean That Trump Committed Treason When I Said That Trump Committed Treason

Host Rachel Maddow said, “After Helsinki, you were stark, and even a little bit scary in your criticism of his behavior. You said it rose to treason.”

Brennan responded, “I said it was nothing short of treasonous.”

Maddow then stated, “In this current controversy, that specific comment has been singled out by a number of people as a comment that maybe, by you, crossed the line, that was maybe –.”

Brennan cut in to respond, “Crossed what line?” He continued that he has a right to free speech

Maddow responded that she wasn’t questioning whether Brennan had the right to make those remarks, and then asked, “But do you stand by that consideration, and can you explain, can you elaborate what you mean by treasonous? It’s a very serious allegation.”

Brennan answered, “I know what the Russians did in interfering in the election. I have 100% confidence in what they did. And for Mr. Trump to stand on that stage in Helsinki, with all the world’s eyes upon him, and to basically [say] he wouldn’t — he doesn’t understand why would the Russians interfere in the election. He’s given Mr. Putin and the Russians a pass time after time after time, and he keeps referring to this whole investigation as a witch hunt, as bogus, as — and to me, this was an attack against the foundational principle of our great republic, which is, the right of all Americans to choose their elected leaders. And for Mr. Trump to so cavalierly just dismiss that, yes, sometimes my Irish comes out, and — in my tweets, and I did say that it rises to and exceeds the level of high crimes and misdemeanors and is nothing short of treasonous. … I didn’t mean that he committed treason, but it was a term that I used, nothing short of treasonous.”

I don't understand how anyone would mistake him for Clapper. Who'd want to knock Clapper's teeth out?
