Apparently not Ext, but definitely me.
Way too many "Anyone with a brain would..." and "I'm the only one here who..."

You think lanny did this on his own, look at his multiple allegiances over the years, the Clintons the Pakistani junta, firtash any and all had interests in spreading that rumor.

Anyone with a brain would already be over in this here new thread.

Fourth....not bad. From before:

I've taken direct issue with Tom R. My admittedly ham-fisted efforts were typified as coming from "the king of quibbling over semantics."

But there is an upside for me personally coming from all the dreck of late which my fellows here view 60 different ways from Sunday.

i've taken a hard look at my own presence here.

i've been critical of others' and how there presence here grinds on me. but i create that experience. me.

what i'm changing can best be summed up in a boating metaphor. my seat behind the wheel is often given up for an absurd position in the water behind the boat as it moves.

LOL who does that? me, of course.

better times ahead for me here.

A thought for the day:

I've been sick and NEEDED a doctor.
I've encountered trouble and NEEDED a police officer.
I've lived through times of war, when our nation NEEDED our military.
I have even NEEDED an auto mechanic, a plumber, a house painter and a lot of other every day people.

But I have NEVER, not even once, NEEDED a pro athlete or Hollywood entertainer for ANYTHING.

I voted for the Bushes, Romney and McCain only because they were better than their opponents. But they were at least one time zone away from what I considered good candidates and I'm not ever shutting up about that. The Bushes were major disappointments in office and the head codger was so bad that Perot's candidacy siphoned off many voters who were sicker of him than I was.

i've learned a great deal from professional athletes who've shared about their own lives, what they've overcome in order to achieve and reach their respective peaks. all sorts of them have shared.

but i appreciate them because those shares have been in their memoirs, speaking engagements etc where they kept the subject focused on themselves and their exploits.

i have no need of hearing their political views or judgements/opinions on societal issues; anymore than they appear before me to hear mine.

After President Trump completes his 8 years of the presidency,
I will then compare him to former Presidents Bush and Reagan.

Kevlar Kid

PS: i also tend to respect professional athletes who give back quietly vs. "build their brand" in a tax deductible way. inspired by the Reagan definition of charitable giving. when i see or here the P word (philanthropy) i head the other direction.

Very good post and yes at times it is confusing and challenging.I accept it as part of my faith.

New post up that relates to my discussion with OL from earlier on papers disappearing except in the case it is published books.

Just iamgine if everything was just in the digital realm. It would largely crease to exist anywhere.

Ol-you were referring to that MaryAnn Wolf piece from the Guardian I linked to yesterday where she started of quite good and then called for a new kind of brain. Of course, that too is what learning standards actually do.

MR-if you think well of 43 or romney as you have stated you do despite documented admissions of troubling statements of theirs. And others of us recognize why those statements or actions are troubling and why and say so, I am not sure in what universe those views are equivalent. You have the right to ignore the facts. You have the right state your views. You do not have the right to declare your views sacrosanct from criticism by those of us who worry about the consequences of 43's and romney's declarations.

Years ago I heard a story from an education writer who had met with 43 when he was Governor and who said in a one-on-one conversation he was the most condescending and cruel pol she ever dealt with. I didn't believe that take when I first heard it about 10 years ago. I believe it now because that pettiness has come through too many times since.

I don't care for any politician, but both have proven themselves repeatedly to be nasty men in many situations. You are entitled to feel loyalty to them despite their actions and statements, but we can pick on any public figure who feels compelled to remind us regularly that they are an ass.

Kevlar Kid

After President Trump completes his 8 years of the presidency, I will then compare him to former Presidents Bush and Reagan."

i probably won't bother with waiting or engaging in such activity. not that it isn't worthwhile. my view is that this isn't time for me to engage in the usual, from time's past.

sort of like the historical ponderings about Lincoln--- was he a "good president?" compared with whom?

Donald Trump has the unenviable place in history where he's likely to be remembered as either a) the man who saved the Republic; or, b) the man who lost it.

and i am under no illusion that men and women in such an unenviable moment are usually crucified no matter the outcome.

his first two years of achievement will fall into obscurity if a) we don't "get the Wall" (h/t Ann Coulter); b)he gets gored for a process crime 20 years allegedly occurring 10-20 years after the fact; c)he's impeached and likely becomes a lame duck before his time; d)or, the Deep State can't resist removal by other means because his achievement rate accelerates.

i don't make these comments because i think POTUS is a god. he's a man.

i do think this administration is functioning during a unique extended moment in history. all comparisons to past presidents, save Lincoln, aren't useful now nor will they be relevant at the end of this run---however long it might be.

all of this because we are alive during an "interesting time."

Sara Carter:

Whistleblower Exposes Key Player in FBI Russia Probe: “It was all a Set-up”

Lovinger, a whistleblower, is now battling to save his career. The Pentagon suspended his top-secret security clearance May 1, 2017, when he exposed through an internal review that Stefan Halper, who was then an emeritus Cambridge professor, had received roughly $1 million in tax-payer funded money to write Defense Department foreign policy reports, his attorney Sean Bigley said. Before Lovinger’s clearance was suspended he had taken a detail to the National Security Council as senior director for strategy. He was only there for five months before he was recalled to the Pentagon, stripped of his prestigious White House detail, and ordered to perform bureaucratic make-work in a Pentagon annex Bigley calls “the land of misfit toys.” His security clearance was eventually revoked in March 2018, despite the Pentagon “refusing to turn over a single page of its purported evidence of Lovinger’s wrongdoing,” Bigley stated. Conservative watchdog group, Judicial Watch, recently filed a federal lawsuit against the Defense Department to obtain the withheld records.

The retaliation for whistleblowing was something Bigley expected. “So, we weren’t surprised when DoD bureaucrats moved shortly thereafter to strip Mr. Lovinger of both his security clearance and his detail to the National Security Council, where he had been Senior Director for Strategy as a by-name request of the incoming Trump Administration,” said the attorney.

“Yet, we were puzzled by the unprecedented ferocity of efforts to discredit Mr. Lovinger, including leaks from DoD of false and defamatory information to the press,” he said. “Our assumption was that the other contractor about whom Mr. Lovinger explicitly raised concerns – a close confidante of Hillary Clinton – was the reason for the sustained assault on Mr. Lovinger, and that certainly may have played a role.”

A close friend of Chelsea's, actually.

In the piece, Sara also claims that Gen. Flynn has already spent over $1M in legal fees. I'm not sure how she knows that, since we've speculated on it here without any hard evidence.

You can pick on them all you like.

No I just don’t buy the premise.

I am simply not willing to do that.

Story of the Ohr hearings so far: the schiff that didn't bark.

matt - deplore me if you must

So Clinton's fixer planted a story with CNN. The first thing he did with the Cohen case. The corruption is astounding.

We find that the FBI leaked stories to the media so that they could file for FISA warrants.

The links are becoming more and more clear and yet the media wants none of it.

As a side note apparently there is hard evidence that the Chicoms successfully hacked Hillary Clinton's server in real time. That is a massive security breach.

the Upper West Side Fishwrap is glorifying the 1968 Democratic Convention.

Pravda by the Potomac is anti Trump and anti-Catholic.

And the media is up in arms about the flag at half staff.

None of them mention Lanny Davis' con job, of course.

criticizing a politician = demonizing

criticizing a politician i respect=criticism of me

Miss Marple

Well, since I am accused of thining Trump is God, I guess I should stick up for myself.

No, like all of us he has faults and frailties. For one thing, he's got a bit too much braggadocio for my Midwestern tastes. Maybe he feels like if he doeson't praise himself, no one else will.

I remain dumbfounded at how quickly Hollywood and the MSM turned on a guy whom they loved, according to all that can be seen in interviews and cameo appearances, and suddenly decided he was another Hitler.
Maybe that's why I am so defensive about him.

Nevertheless, I am glad I was an early supporter, and I think he is doing a great job, considering all of the roadblocks thrown in his path.

I also am not afraid to express my profound disappointment in both Romney and the Bushes, particularly Bush 43, both of who I enthusiastically supported when they ran, and Bush 43 through his presidency. It seems to me that a lot of what they campaigned on was simply stuff to get votes, and they had no intention of keeping their promises.

Trump did, and has done so.

maryrose, You are quite free to support or criticize whoever you wish. I intend to do the same. I am not apologizing for supporting the President, as I think he is correct on all of the issues I have seen him tackle.

Nolte: Someone Tell Carl Bernstein the Cover-Up Is Worse than the Crime

In a July 27 piece of very fake news Bernstein co-wrote with CNN anchor (and former Obama official) Jim Sciutto and researcher Marshall Cohen, Bernstein declaratively informs us, “Contacted by CNN, one of Cohen’s attorneys, Lanny Davis, declined to comment.”

That statement is a lie, a proven lie, a bald-faced lie, because we now know for a fact that Lanny Davis did NOT decline to comment. What’s more, Davis was a CNN source for that steaming pile of very fake news.

In other words… the anti-Trump Carl Bernstein did not only spread fake news, the anti-Trump Carl Bernstein published a straight-up lie in his fake news, reported something he knew was not true.

Can't we all just savor the downfall of Carl Bernstein?

NPR: Department of Education Wildly Overstates Number of School-Related Shootings in New Survey

The Department of Education reported there were 235 school-related shootings in the U.S. during the 2015-16 school year, but NPR could confirm less than 5 percent of the incidents occurred in a new report.

Of the 235 school-related shooting incidents, NPR only confirmed 11 of them. It reported 161 schools or school districts told NPR no shootings had occurred, four were miscategorized, and 59 could not be either confirmed or unconfirmed by NPR.

The huge discrepancy calls into question the reliability of data disseminated by the government on the pressing issue of school safety.

This is a fair blog post. I suggest you guys look at the clip from Saturday Night Live at the end.

McCain used to be funny. I am wondering whether that tumor was affecting him in his last years. That vote against repealing Obamacare was inexplicable, except as a stab in Trump's back. It's hard to believe he would want to leave that as one of his last votes.

Consumer confidence at 18-year high. This can only be good news for the election, despite whatever skullduggery Mueller intends.

Not a redirect just the facts and an amnesiac public that forgets the past triumphs in their haste to elevate a candidate who was for many the default choice because they didn’t want Hillary.
So far so good and I will get back to you after the Wall is built and Kavanaugh is confirmed. Morally is Trump better than Bush or Romney- only God can make the call on that one.

"I can assert that at times President Trump acts like an ass"

Back during the McCain/Palin campaign Sara was savaged by feminists, pundits, etc and some here complained that any suggestion that Sara might not be a Joan of Arc saint was unfairly attacked by hostile Sara defenders.

Okay, possibly unfairly contradicted. But seems like "legitimate" criticism of Sara often lacked context that was apparent to me.

Like saying George Patton was too mean to Rommel.

At any rate "legitimate" criticism at a blog where many are defending some figure from hateful slander is likely to be disputed. In such cases anyone with a brain the wise will avoid taking it personally.

The President was stubborn and petty about this and it came back to bite him.

I give him credit for all of those good attributes.

He needs to declassify the incriminating evidence Sarah Carter is unraveling daily.
It will shut up the idiot press and allow him to continue his successful presidency.

Techno Fog @Techno_Fog

The big question is whether the FISA Court will exercise its authority to punish the FBI/DOJ officials. Its options include:

1) Barring those officials from appearing before the court
2) Sanctions
3) Criminal contempt charges

Lunchtime rant (OT) - I am amazed at the weird and damaged people on the internet (I know, I know) but these last 2 days have been outrageous.

1. I belong to a broken-neck survivor website. Everyone shares their struggles, their tips for dealing with pain and devices. This person joined and started private messaging several of us asking very specific questions about our injuries. I thought he was dealing with the same thing as did several others. It turned out - as he continued his questions - he was some sexual pervert who enjoys people with traumatic injuries. Also - another person messaged me asking if he could have my neck brace once it was removed. I have left the group.

2. I have fostered kittens since my injury has prevented me from fostering dogs for a bit. There is a site for cats where I went to ask a question about some tiny kittens I was bottle feeding. I mentioned that the kittens still had their umbilical cords attached when I took them in. Some other weirdo messaged me and asked if she could have the cords when they fell off? (The group administrator banned her from the site!)

Whew - back to politics where everyone seems comforting and normal to me right now!

Maryrose, the FISA judges themselves can do any of those things on their own. As far as I can tell, those are normal judicial actions.

We had to completely rewrite the fawning Associated Press whitewash of Bruce Ohr that selectively reported the facts as known so far.

They are interested in Ohr — he has also been the subject of Trump's angry tweets — because of his relationship with Christopher Steele, the former British spy whose opposition research on Trump's Russia ties was compiled into a dossier and turned over to the FBI.

Who funded the dossier? Who leaked it to Ohr? What other details did Ohr get and from whom? Why didn’t he tell his superiors what he was doing? What about the veracity of the “research”? What have Trump’s tweets to do with Orh’s testimony? Why bury his wife Nellie’s association with Fusion GPS at the bottom of the article? And more.

AP, get me rewrite!

Frau Kurzwelle

Will we even know if Bruce Ohr actually testified?
