Hi too? The controversial Congressman and Deputy DNC Chair Keith Ellison has been accused of domestic violence two days before a critical primary. He's issued a bit of a non-denial denial, and of course Hillary's rule is "Believe The Woman, unless she's accusing a Democrat", so who knows what happens next?
Ed Morrissey at Hot Air has lots more. My issue with the Ellison denial is that the ex-girlfriend alleges that most of the abuse was psychological; she only describes one incident of physical abuse. This is from the CBS coverage of the denial:
Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison on Sunday denied an allegation from an ex-girlfriend that he had once dragged her off a bed while screaming obscenities at her — an allegation that came just days before a Tuesday primary in which the congressman is among several Democrats running for state attorney general.
The allegation first surfaced Saturday night from Karen Monahan after her son alleged in a Facebook post that he had seen hundreds of angry text messages from Ellison, some threatening his mother. He also wrote he had viewed a video in which Ellison dragged Monahan off the bed by her feet. Monahan, a Minneapolis political organizer, said via Twitter that what her son posted was "true."
Ellison denied the allegation of physical abuse. A spokesman for his campaign also denied the congressman had sent threatening text messages.
Hmm, Ellison might be a lying, philandering psychologically abusive person (SO Clintonian! Either one.) as alleged by Ellison, and he's not denying it. O the other hand, should every bad boyfriend be disqualified from public office even if he avoids physical abuse?
On the third hand, Minnesota Democrats could not possibly be concerned with the opinion of a middle-aged white guy from out of state. I'm sure they will choose judiciously.
They need a pro wrestler stat!

Let's hope he makes it through the primary. I understand he's the only one the R's have a chance of beating up there.

Good Morning!
Thought this from an early morning link by Miss M to Sundance discussing Trump's strategy for exiting NAFTA and doing individual North American agreements was really interesting, so I'm going to paste what stood out to me and apparently also Maria Bartiromo:
Instead of following customary sequential steps: (1) waiting for endless NAFTA negotiations that can never be resolved; (2) and then announcing the NAFTA withdrawal; (3) and then dealing with the political fallout and financial backlash; (4) and then beginning bilateral trade discussions, etc. etc. Team Trump brilliantly and quietly strategized an end-around.
Team U.S.A. reversed the sequencing (but didn’t announce it).
1) Negotiate the Mexico bilateral.
2) Announce the Mexican bilateral agreement.
3) Offer Canada a bilateral (slightly different terms).
4) Announce the Canadian bilateral agreement.
5) Dissolve NAFTA.
Instead of beginning new, bilateral, comprehensive trade constructs after trilateral NAFTA is dissolved, they end the new, bilateral, comprehensive agreements with trilateral NAFTA being dissolved.
Ergo, no political backlash and no political influence. By the time anyone realizes NAFTA is dead – it’s moot. No formal trilateral NAFTA exit strategy is needed because new deals are already on the books.

I'll bring this over about Strzok -
a bit more on Bowdich -
https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2018/08/fbi-fires-peter-strzok.php
"According to Strzok’s attorney, the head of the FBI’s office of professional responsibility decided that Strzok should be demoted and suspended for 60 days. This decision, he says, was overruled by FBI Deputy Director David Bowdich, who ordered the firing on Friday.
Bowdich has been with the FBI since 1995, when he began his career with the Bureau as a SWAT team member and sniper. Before that, he was a police officer in New Mexico. Before coming to Washington as Deputy Director, Bowdich ran the FBI’s Los Angeles office.
Thus, Bowdich is a career FBI man, not a political appointee. He has no connections with President Trump."

General Keane on with Trish Regan expressing great satisfaction with the size and compass of the huge defense Spending Bill that Trump is about to sign. He mentions all the systems we are reinforcing and why we need to reinforce them, then says this:
Gen Keane: Our adversaries have been taking advantage of---China...Russia...(lists their recent aggressive tactics in the South China Sea and in the Ukraine, Syria etc) They did all that because they saw the United States pulling back. We were disengaging, we were not funding Defense. Remember, the biggest payoff from Defense in maintaining good equipment and the right numbers of soldiers, the right numbers of ships, the right numbers of airplanes, is deterrence. It stops our adversaries from taking advantage of us. It prevents bad things from happening. Obviously to have that muscle there, and we may have to use it, but the fact that we've got it---well I'll tell you what, Putin is paying more attention to our Defense Budget than he's paying attention to sanctions, because when he sees that defense Budget growing like it is that reminds him of the Reagan Defense Budget which contributed to the collapse of the Soviet Union...That's what he's watching and he sees the United States coming back. The President is right on the mark here.

Hello, all!
I see the big news is that Strzok has been fired. Good. May indictment come shortly.
I had to go to the funeral of the father of my oldest friend, whom I have known since our school days back in the 600's. Wonderful man, who FINALLY retired at the age of 92, 3 years ago.
He was in the Merchant Marine during WWII (which was quite an adventure for a farm boy from Morgan County, Indiana) and had ships shot out from under him 3 times!!
One of the last of that greatest generation, who mas married to his wife for 63 years, was a great neighbor the Indian doctor next door (who spoke at the funeral) and welcomed everyone into his home.
ANyway, I see the president has 7 tweets so I will go get the ones that are of interest.

Just caught up to the AmThinker column on Hanoi Jane Fonda, Vietnam War Traitor
I've mentioned it before but will again. My CO in the Philippines was Capt Nels Tanner
Amazing man and spent I think 7 years in the Hanoi Hilton. He was an F-4 Driver and I believe a missile they were firing exploded, causing their plane to explode over North Vietnam. his back seater was Clark Terry.
Tanner was tortured while imprisoned, including having his shoulders pulled from their sockets until he couldn't use his arms. He proved to be an embarrassment for the North Vietnamese Army leaders, noting in a written confession for war crimes that he recalled two pilots would not bomb innocent civilians, a Lt. Clark Kent, the alter ego of the character Superman, and Lt. Ben Casey, a television character who was a surgeon and the centerpiece of a medical drama at the time.
When the Hanoi Jane entourage and hanger's on came through the Vietcong proudly announced to the traitorous entourage that American POW's were weak since they revealed more than name, rank and Serial, number. As I recall, thats when the part of jane's extended entourage told the Vietnamese that POW's were lying to them and making them look like fools. As a consequence, there followed a very, very intense set of beatings of a great many of the prisoners and at least one if not more died.
I can speak confidently that my old Commanding Officer, 'Nels' Tanner, was no fan of Jane Fonda or her entourage, and knew for the last 50 years of his life that she was an Un-American bastard.
(Tanner's) grit and unbreakable spirit in the face of that kind of torture led to Tanner being called one of the "Alcatraz Eleven" or the "Alcatraz Gang," names used by the U.S. media to describe 11 high-level captives in the Hanoi Hilton as being unbreakable by the enemy and who were noted as being leaders of a resistance movement. The name came from making an association with the toughest prison in Vietnam and the infamous U.S. prison off the coast of San Francisco.
No wonder I can never catch-up.

I know, but things have changed. Since Franken's "election" the Repubs have taken the MN House and are tied with the DFL in the Senate (Democrat-
Farmer-Labor, the MN version of the Dem party).
And Trump came within 43K votes of winning the state.
So although Repubs aren't favored in this race, things are shifting on the ground in MN.

A UMaine lobster biologist said it is rare in lobster,a genetic mutation. Equality Maine hadn't heard about #ClawsForTrans when contacted by a reporter.
