I don't need anyone to defend me. I'm quite capable of doing that myself.
What I would appreciate seeing more here is when I assert something, someone else disagrees with me (and in some rare cases engages in ad hominem personal attacks against me for daring to have a different opinion than them), and I back up my assertion with facts, that person has the integrity to admit they were wrong or, in the matters of opinions, at least acknowledge my dissenting opinion is based on factual information and/or sound logic. I think that kind of discourse is beneficial to everyone.
I have tremendous respect for people like Clarice. She and I were having a civil back and forth, I backed up my point with a citation, and she realized I was correct about the Manafort money laundering charge and admitted that she had missed that.
It looks like the DOJ has Congressman Collins dead to rights. If the article I read is accurate it was extreme stupidity on his part and he deserved to get indicted.

This time around, the Trump administration is mulling whether to take administrative action — bypassing Congress — to index capital gains to inflation, which means investors would get a special break on income from playing the market. If you earn a paycheck for a living, you need not apply. In total, according to projections by the Penn Wharton Budget Model, the handout would cost more than $100 billion over the next decade. The top 1 percent of earners would take 86 percent of the benefit. The top tenth of a percent of earners would take more than 63 percent.
The rank unfairness of this proposal seems obvious on its face, but a casual observer might not be blamed for asking whether an idea like this one could do some good in the long-term. The answer? Trump is breaking his promises to workers
So there you have it. The Trump administration is on the verge of showering $100 billion on the wealthy. Doing so will not spark any new economic growth. It will not do a lick of good for the overwhelming majority of Americans, who work hard to earn a salary or an hourly wage to make ends meet.

"The rank unfairness of this proposal" is an odd way to describe something that is obviously fairer than the current grossly unfair system. If you don't index capital gains for inflation, you can and will have cases where someone's stock goes up 10% over a certain period of time in which the cumulative inflation is 15%. Taxing someone for a 10% nominal gain when his investment has actually lost 5% in value is simple theft: the tax rate is beyond 100%, in fact it's incalculable. Think about it: what is the tax rate when you pay (e.g.) a $100 tax on an income of -$500? Whether such a tax is insanity, stupidity, or simple theft can be argued, but it is certainly not just and fair.

The QAnon community is small, but it has powerful boosters who legitimize it
The core QAnon community is relatively small, and it would normally be a fringe conspiracy theory group that doesn’t get much attention outside the depths of internet forums. Even people like alt-right conspiracy theorist Jack Posobiec, who promoted the Pizzagate conspiracy theory, has pushed back against QAnon. (Posobiec said he would debunk QAnon.)
But it has been thrust into the national spotlight because some prominent figures feed into the frenzy. It has gotten attention from celebrities like Roseanne Barr and former MLB pitcher Curt Schilling. It has also gotten huge bursts of attention via top conspiracy theorists Alex Jones and Sean Hannity. (Media Matters has a good rundown of all the people who have promoted the QAnon conspiracy theory.) In addition, Q supporters have shown up in decent numbers at Trump rallies and garnered quite a bit of media attention.
Sure, Q might be a leftist troll or a bored teenager. But the reality is that the president of the United States is not only prone to believing conspiracy theories but surrounds himself with people who peddle conspiracy theories. And he has used the office of the presidency to legitimize conspiracy theories and lies.
At a recent Trump rally, the president appeared to point at a family wearing Q T-shirts during a rally. To be clear, Trump could’ve been motioning to any number of things. But the gesture seemed to affirm to the QAnon community that Trump was in on this. “Never thought I would have hope restored like it is now. Its almost surreal,” one user posted on /r/greatawakening.
After all, if the president supports what you believe in, then how can it not be real?

Democratic Maryland gubernatorial candidate Ben Jealous snapped at a reporter who asked him repeatedly Wednesday if he identified as a socialist, saying, "Are you f—ing kidding me?"
Republican Gov. Larry Hogan called Jealous a "far-left socialist" in an interview with the New York Times last weekend. A reporter noted to the strongly progressive Jealous at a press conference that Hogan had tagged him with the "socialist" label and asked for his response.
"What is your response to, first, the term socialist, whether you embrace and identify [as] it to any degree, and secondly, the charge about whether the state can afford you?" she asked.
Jealous implicitly compared himself to President Barack Obama and civil rights icon Martin Luther King, Jr., in his response.
"You know, I about fell out of my chair when I read … that Hogan was out there calling me names, and then it occurred to me that him calling me a far-left socialist is what the Tea Party called President Obama. It's what Barry Goldwater called Martin Luther King," Jealous said.
He said Hogan's name-calling showed Republicans are "scared." Jealous said he was a venture capitalist who invests in growing businesses, before going on to attack Hogan as being "lazy" in bolstering Maryland's economy.
"Not to point too fine a point on it, but do you identify with the term socialist?" the reporter asked.
"Are you fucking kidding me?" Jealous asked, laughing mirthlessly. "Is that a fine point? OK."

One way to view it is that it is a perfect example of the difference between the return to the rule of law under Trump compared to the corruption within the Obama DOJ/FBI administration. Republicans under Trump are held accountable when breaking the law while Democrats under Obama got things swept under the rug to protect them.

In case you missed ABC radio news today, here's the top story (nearly verbatim): 'An early Trump supporter, Chris Collins, a Republican congressman from New York...'
"How many other Congressmen and Senators sit on the board of corporations while they are serving in Congress? That seems like a recipe for corruption to me."
i'm of the opinion that The Bath House Rat had the goods on every single federal legislator who engaged in all aspects of insider trading.
insider trading is the reason so many of these scoundrels go to Washington. it is a golden ticket to astounding levels of wealth that would take most people to amass over a lifetime--- if they're astute enough to use the tax codes in their favor.
and that makes our Congress, by and large, blackmail-able by a weaponized national security and intel apparatus.
most of these idiots don't have to join a Board of Directors to cash in. they can avail themselves to silk socked lobbying attorneys, sponsor or pass legislation beneficial to a publicly traded company (or private), invest in the company through various shadow/shell entities, and catch the windfall.
then there's the Boxer/DiFi/Pelosi level of corruption where insider trading is a contact sport--- even to the point of selling secrets to the Chinese Communists (this spy story is OLD NEWS that's been overlooked for years).
Another way to look at it is that Democrat prosecutors are embedded in the DoJ.
In the reality I choose to believe exists Trump-appointed US Attorneys make the decision to indict members of Congress over subordinate Democrat career civil servants in the DOJ.
Donnelly, who is facing intense scrutiny over his position on immigration from Indiana Senate Republican nominee Mike Braun, said on Wednesday that he is fine with giving President Trump up to $5 billion in funding for his promised wall on America’s southern border.
Trump has continued to threaten a government shutdown before or after the 2018 midterm elections if he does not get border wall funding in the September spending bill. The 45th president has suggested that he wants $5 billion in funding for the wall in the spending bill.
Donnelly said that he does “not want under any circumstances” a government shutdown and said that Congress should “absolutely” partially fund the president’s wall.
“I’m fine with providing him some more. I actually voted for border wall funding three different times,” Donnelly told Politico on Wednesday. “I’m fine with that. I’m fine with $3 [billion], $3.5, $4 or $5” billion this fall.

Good afternoon all, I like Tom R and his posts. I just disagree. For me the bottom line is Mueller and Rosenstein's involvement with investigating and covering up the U! scandal dating back to 2008.

Didn't Alan Grayson's wife try to Alan West his ass? Colonel West for context. Extreme Rendition. Sleep Deprivation. Uncomfortable Positions. Mental Cruelty.

This crook Collins is just another swamp creature. He set himself up and knocked himself down. There are hundreds like throughout DC and that, people, is the problem.
Just look at the Dulles corridor and see all of the crony company HQ's. Byzantine level corruption.
North Carolina Republican Sen. Richard Burr and Virginia Democratic Sen. Mark Warner, the chairman and vice chairman of the committee, respectively, asked Assange in an Aug. 1 letter to appear for a closed-door interview as part of the committee’s investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential campaign.
A father of five children came home with a new toy. He summoned his children and asked which of them should be given the present: "Who is the most obedient one here? Who never talks back to Mom and does everything that Mom says to do?"
There were a few seconds of silence, and then all of the children said in one accord: "So that means you get it, Daddy??!"

Rocco,
What factual evidence are you basing your Uranium One-related opinions on? AFAIK here are the most extensive articles written about the FBI informant Campbell's testimony:
In neither article does Campbell mention Mueller or Rosenstein by name. Are you just assuming that because Mueller was FBI Director at the time and Rosenstein was a US Attorney in Maryland that they had to know about the corruption going on with Uranium One?
Pinch the remittance flow of cash to Meheeko for even a year. Boom-- would pay for a rotating National Guard presence and training an elite paramilitary arm of the "border patrol."
Narcotraffickers are at least as lethal as the what the Israelis experienced before they built their wall. And it has to be paid for until the rats are eradicated (HAMAS, Hezbollah).
Can't wait to see implications of the NAFTA re-negotiation. Bring Meheeko's elites and their US maquilladora junkies to their knees....unless the border scam comes to a screeching halt.
i don't really care how many Mexxykin elites are slaughtered by narcotrafficantes for changing the tune. there has already been a near genocidal body count among the poor and rural folks, but the elites down there have serious colonial caste issues that go back a long long way---- so if it continues, the elites will have more of that blood on their hands.
Leverage also needs to be applied to the US Chamber of Commerce and their pigeons in Congress who are providing the lube for the narcos and the Mexxykin elites to savage our economy with "cheap labor."
end this myth that somehow prices are going to go sky high if labor costs more because cheap beaner labor is blah blah blah.
food costs continue to go up in spite of cheap beaner labor. cheap labor means a wide profit margin and higher prices, with less competition.
POTUS understands this--- and that's why NAFTA has got to go. the myth is that everything is goin to cost a bejillion dollars without Meheeko. Or Communist China for that matter....the trade imbalances are already costing a bejillion dollars.
did we elect a post? or someone as dumb as one [DeBlasio running somewhere]?

Press conference on now with the US Attorney about Collins.
Tipped son to confidential corporate info at expense of regular investors.
Lied to investigators about it.
As board member he was informed that a drug being developed was a total failure, total devaastating info for company, Collins had a duty to keep it secret, instead he told his son who also had shares.

One way to view it is that it is a perfect example of the difference between the return to the rule of law under Trump compared to the corruption within the Obama DOJ/FBI administration. Republicans under Trump are held accountable when breaking the law while Democrats under Obama got things swept under the rug to protect them.

Rocco,
What factual evidence are you basing your Uranium One-related opinions on? AFAIK here are the most extensive articles written about the FBI informant Campbell's testimony:
https://saraacarter.com/fbi-informant-uranium-one-breaks-silence-today/
https://saraacarter.com/fbi-interviewed-uranium-one-informant-in-clinton-foundation-investigation/

Or Communist China for that matter....the trade imbalances are already costing a bejillion dollars.
i breathed through this entire transmission.
yay me. :D
