President Donald Trump on Saturday called for the nation to "come together" ahead of the one-year anniversary of a violent white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.
"The riots in Charlottesville a year ago resulted in senseless death and division," Trump wrote on Twitter. "We must come together as a nation."đ
Not that it was his idea to leave Washington anyway, he contends.
âWeâre renovating the White House, a long-term project and they approved it years ago. And I said, âWell, I guess this would be a good place to be in the meantime,ââ Trump told reporters invited to the property to document a roundtable discussion on prison reform efforts Thursday.
âI miss it. I would like to be there,â he said of the White House, âbut this is a good way of doing it.â
No staffers had publicly mentioned the need for any rehabilitation work before Trumpâs departure, and the explanation effort underscores the presidentâs concern about public perceptions as he approaches having spent 150 days of his presidency at his golf properties.
Obama played 306 rounds while in office, a healthy amount, but well short of the estimated 1,200 rounds Woodrow Wilson played during his term, or the 800 rounds that Dwight Eisenhower played as POTUS. Still, it's more than his immediate predecessors George W. Bush or Bill Clinton, both of whom were golfers as well.
The 306 rounds over eight years averages out to a little more than 38 rounds a year, which is well above the national average of 19.3
Want to see the dishonesty of The New York Times in action? Read this story from Thursdayâs (Aug 9) paper about the school bus bombing. The lede says: âAn airstrike from the Saudi-led coalition struck a school bus in northern Yemen on Thursday and killed dozens of people, many of them childrenâŚ.â Got that? A âcoalition.â Guess what? Nowhere in the story does the Times explain that the US is part of that coalition. âThe strikes were âcarried out in accordance with international humanitarian lawâŚ.â The Times concluded the story. Szh-yeah, Iâm sureâŚ.
Our President, who I like to call the Golden Golem of Greatness for his role in restoring this limping nation to something like a 1947 Jimmy Stewart movie â all Christmas and kittens â might be accused of overplaying the sanctions blame-game in order to demonstrate to our own Deep State how much he doesnât love Russia and its leader, Mr. Putin, a verified agent of Satan. Next thing you know, Mr. Trump will don evangelical robes and hurl bibles at a photo of Vladimir P on Don Lemonâs CNN show. Thatâll get Ole Horseface Mueller off his back, wonât it? And those pesky Dem-Progs drooling for impeachment.
Comically bad Inspector Clouseau tribute artist Rep. Devin Nunes was invited to Spokane Washington to help raise funds for Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (famous for her MLK Day diversity celebrations), and as the Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee (thus proving Eiron the Goddess of Irony is doing good work), Nunesâ words to Republican donors takes on heightened value. The press was not invited.
And in short, he effâed a chicken.

Said that the leadership wants to delay Rosensteinâs impeachment until after Brett Kavanaugh is confirmed to the Supreme Court because if Rosenstein were impeached right now, the Senate would be forced to drop everything and try Rosenstein.

A granite block commemorating then-candidate Donald Trump's victory in the 2016 New Hampshire Republican presidential primary was vandalized early Friday, according to authorities.

Wright and Kippersnack, along with the rest of the kneelers, were "born in the 90s and don't know sh*t" as Paw says.
A lot of these kneelers were just kids when we got hit by the terror attacks in 2001. They have, in many cases, had crummy history classes and an overdose of the grievance mentality.
I posted that picture because it really spoke to me of the selfishness and ignorance that is fueling these protests. You know it's being whipped up by Hollywood and dem politicians. It's just disgraceful.
.Porch "Antiques market across the board is in decline, which seems weird considering that "retro" in general is hot. The problem is that young people..."
A group of us old codgers were talking the other day about when to finally give up the big house back home and what a hassle that is to even think about. The most common comment was "my kids don't want any of this dark old furniture my husband and I spent a lifetime collecting..." followed by "If you give me grandmother's set of silver, do I have to insure it?" followed by "did people really dine on this china?".
My contribution to the discussion was "the only thing we have which the young people seem to want is my collection of Vargas prints which my wife banished to my office over the pool house decades ago."
Dilbee the domestic terrorist is or was a member of Earth Liberation Front, and the Animal Liberation Front. I remember that in California (IIRC) they bombed a bunch of high end SUV's in the dealership's lot. That kind of stuff.

All 10 episodes are on Amazon Prime. Any vet or anyone close to a vet should know about and if possible participate in an Honor Flight. Hubs and his WWII Navy dad did Honor Flight the week before BOzo shut down the DC memorials and closed Arlington. No surprise BOzo had no idea who he was messin' with.
That was our tactic to get out of having to take a bite under the care of Sister Mary Psychosa when we got caught cussin. Drop the bar. It grossed her out and we were instructed to write something 40,000,000 times before recess.
The younger kids have been infected with the fashion of Ikea, another bad thing imported from Scandinavia.
They also have smaller apartments and homes, and are guided in taste by what they see in the home magazines. About the only place you still see a lot of antiques in home decor is in Southern Living.
We solved the problem here by my decorating the living room and my bedroom, while the daughter took over the added on rec room as a suite in the back of the house, where she had her more modern furniture.
She has her grandmother's antique Haviland in a storage tub in the garage.
I worry about that soap thing all the time. So you have bacteria on your hands, and wash your hands by taking that soap and rubbing it. Then you put the soap back in the soap dish.

I hung a picture in my downstairs bathroom that I bought for next to nothing the first time I went to France many moons ago. It's apparently from the burlesque and centers on a topless woman seated on a large table and putting mascara on while looking into a compact mirror. She has winter gloves on her feet, tied with cord, and various other women are only partly shown - one on a sewing machine, another in panties and bra, another doing something with a wardrobe costume.
Everyone who comes to my house and uses the bathroom sees that strange picture, yet hardly anyone has ever asked about it.
Steph-remember the story about the grandmother stabbed to death by an intruder near me about a month ago? Then stole her suv which was found a few miles away a few days later?

Boy did that story suddenly make the facts reported make far more sense.

Good Morning!
I just wish that one of these bastards when they took the stand, instead of saying "I can't remember, or I can't talk about that per my Lawyers advice, or I'm completely unbiased etc, would have the balls to tell the truth (ie: "Yes, I did it. I used everything in my power to prevent the Election of Donald Trump as President, and once he became President I used everything in my power to get him impeached. That was my intent and that explains what I did and I'm proud of it and I'd do it again, and so would most of my compatriots who are afraid to admit it."
Oh, noze - not the CaseLabs!! What will the town of Canoga Park do now that their engine of wealth has been destroyed?! And it must have been a whale of a company, too; with the same person listed as CEO, Secretary, CFO, sole member of the board, and registered agent. đ
About that roundup verdict in California against all sound science. In California it seems everything causes cancer and feces covered streets are not a healthhazard, and uncut and trimmed brush is not a fire hazard, and there's no need for farmers to have water .
In his remarks, which went for nearly half an hour, or twice as long as the limit for speakers at the event, Avenatti drew repeated standing ovations as he called for a vigorous, aggressive Democratic response to Trump.
He turned Michelle Obamaâs famous statement from the 2016 convention â âWhen they go low, we go higherâ â by telling the crowd: âWhen they go low, I say, we hit harder.â
A quick update on the Fredricton,New Brunswick shooting...as I suspected,it is looking like a domestic violence situation. Justin of Canada had already planned to be in Fredericton tomorrow for the city's Pride Parade.
If the standing ovations for Ocasio-Cortez and Avenatti are the future of the Dems along with Harris, Fauxchontas, and Booker, then I don't think Trump has anything to worry about.
Well, Gary Woodland has started out with a 340 yd. drive on the first hole, while everyone else laid up with a driving iron. But just wasted it with an ordinary par.
Just saw a bit of the Presser on the stolen plane. Haven't read anything else but the question arose how did he get to the Runway? That would be easy for a ramp worker with prior aviation skills who had an understanding of how to taxi a plane, and my guess is that this plane being empty of passengers it would need little ground roll distance to even get airborne so i could imagine him even getting airborne on a Taxiway or even on the extended tarmac as long as no one was in his way. SeaTac has plenty of concrete. By the end of the day we'll probably find out how much ground roll distance this particular type of airplane of such and such a weight would need to get airborne.
Also my guess would be that the plane was not at one of the standard gates with that sort of tube we walk thru, but was probably out on the ramp where you either walk to it or are driven to it by a bus. On catch-up I suppose I'll find out if I'm wrong.
I vaguely recall an enlisted marine years back stealing an A-4...maybe 30-40 years back. I'll see if I can dig that up.

The big story that the Fake News Media refuses to report is lowlife Christopher Steeleâs many meetings with Deputy A.G. Bruce Ohr and his beautiful wife, Nelly. It was Fusion GPS that hired Steele to write the phony & discredited Dossier, paid for by Crooked Hillary & the DNC....
....Do you believe Nelly worked for Fusion and her husband STILL WORKS FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF âJUSTICE.â I have never seen anything so Rigged in my life. Our A.G. is scared stiff and Missing in Action. It is all starting to be revealed - not pretty. IG Report soon? Witch Hunt!
Foote received four-and-a-half months already served in the brig, and an other-than-honorable discharge from the Marine Corps. It was a remarkably light sentence for such a dangerous and selfish act. But Foote had been a stellar Marine, with absolutely nothing on his record prior to show a pattern of misbehavior or irresponsibility. The Generalâs influence on him, and his injury in relation to it, was likely factored into the sentence.
After trying to apply to the Israeli Air Force to fly fighters, Howard Foote Jr. went on to become a civilian test pilot and engineer, working on various projects over the years, including a microwave airplane concept and projects for NASA.
Not bad for a guy who stole an operational fast jet from the Marine Corps.
Manny T,
Does this guy Foote ring a bell with you by any chance?
Anybody else discovered a sudden rage to paint brick? Take some Valium, it'll pass.
I believe that was a thing in the 50's. My grandparents thought about it because their brick is very dark purplish. The historic people condemn it, so it can't be done in my neighborhood.

Yeowsa. And to think things move so much faster now.
Since 1945, what has transpired? How "different" have we become? To even imagine communist fascism has taken hold here.

Conundrum of the day:
If you drop a bar of soap, does the soap become dirty or does the floor become clean?
Posted by: Stephanie, Nene, Not your Normal Grandma | August 11, 2018 at 12:57 PM
MM,
Dilbee the domestic terrorist is or was a member of Earth Liberation Front, and the Animal Liberation Front. I remember that in California (IIRC) they bombed a bunch of high end SUV's in the dealership's lot. That kind of stuff.
I'll bet Iggy knows of them since another tactic was to spike large trees being harvested.

in August each year we watch "The Pacific"
All 10 episodes are on Amazon Prime. Any vet or anyone close to a vet should know about and if possible participate in an Honor Flight. Hubs and his WWII Navy dad did Honor Flight the week before BOzo shut down the DC memorials and closed Arlington. No surprise BOzo had no idea who he was messin' with.

Steph, OCD tells me the soap got dirty. Silly question.
:-)
Posted by: Old Lurker | August 11, 2018 at 12:59 PM
That was our tactic to get out of having to take a bite under the care of Sister Mary Psychosa when we got caught cussin. Drop the bar. It grossed her out and we were instructed to write something 40,000,000 times before recess.

Old Lurker,
The younger kids have been infected with the fashion of Ikea, another bad thing imported from Scandinavia.

They do not have any interest whatsoever in "brown" furniture.
None.
Unless you paint (!!!) it first.

A-mom...they have no idea how we scrimped and saved to get that stuff refinished into the beautiful brown it is now!

I worry about that soap thing all the time. So you have bacteria on your hands, and wash your hands by taking that soap and rubbing it. Then you put the soap back in the soap dish.

Then you put the soap back in the soap dish.
Rinse the soap before you rinse your hands. Don't use your mouth.
I never understood why blackened shellac "patina" was so much more valuable than the beautiful mahogany or old walnut underneath.
My grandmother's 1919 wedding dining furniture was black-finished cheap wood. She gave it to her spinster sister 20 years later.

Heard yesterday she apparently was in the habit of recruiting labor to do work for her at a quoted price and then renigging on the price after the work was done and paying much less than agreed. Known for bragging to the neighbors like she thought this was the way to get chores done for far less than the going rate.
Boy did that story suddenly make the facts reported make far more sense.
Anybody else discovered a sudden rage to paint brick? Both new and existing brick so instead of the lovely variegation you get a monochromatic white or beige?

i was 12 when the animals released this tune....1967... the lull before Tet and a tsunami of caskets deluged our Catholic parish, a hub for military funerals and subsequent transfers to the military burial ground in Colma CA (south San Fran). the war gave us altar boys a near-daily early release from school to serve and to travel with the families and priests to the resting place.
thank you for the pre-dedication.
the madness consuming this area, like so much of our Great Nation, "our sheltered homeland", reverberates lower than the memories of mine that give me recall of all the ways the loyal and true have fought to slow the ebb of liberty some seem so hell bent to further into next generations.

Thanks, Narciso.
