maryrose

Good morning JOM!

maryrose

Oh and first.

Atom-Splitter Don

President Donald Trump on Saturday called for the nation to "come together" ahead of the one-year anniversary of a violent white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.

"The riots in Charlottesville a year ago resulted in senseless death and division," Trump wrote on Twitter. "We must come together as a nation."😎

Jack is Back!

That may be the earliest ever use of Killfile.

Oopsy Daisy

Not that it was his idea to leave Washington anyway, he contends.

“We’re renovating the White House, a long-term project and they approved it years ago. And I said, ‘Well, I guess this would be a good place to be in the meantime,’” Trump told reporters invited to the property to document a roundtable discussion on prison reform efforts Thursday.

“I miss it. I would like to be there,” he said of the White House, “but this is a good way of doing it.”

No staffers had publicly mentioned the need for any rehabilitation work before Trump’s departure, and the explanation effort underscores the president’s concern about public perceptions as he approaches having spent 150 days of his presidency at his golf properties.

Liars Club

Obama played 306 rounds while in office, a healthy amount, but well short of the estimated 1,200 rounds Woodrow Wilson played during his term, or the 800 rounds that Dwight Eisenhower played as POTUS. Still, it's more than his immediate predecessors George W. Bush or Bill Clinton, both of whom were golfers as well.

The 306 rounds over eight years averages out to a little more than 38 rounds a year, which is well above the national average of 19.3

Miss Marple

Back to the pic after while. I don't have kill file on my iPad.

narciso

Of course if it wasn't for McAuliffe cancelling the permit, than issuing a stand down order, nothing would have happened.

That trip to Italy reminded of that other detective series by condor Fitzgerald. About an American expatriate Alex blume.

Clusterfuck Nation

Want to see the dishonesty of The New York Times in action? Read this story from Thursday’s (Aug 9) paper about the school bus bombing. The lede says: “An airstrike from the Saudi-led coalition struck a school bus in northern Yemen on Thursday and killed dozens of people, many of them children….” Got that? A “coalition.” Guess what? Nowhere in the story does the Times explain that the US is part of that coalition. “The strikes were “carried out in accordance with international humanitarian law….” The Times concluded the story. Szh-yeah, I’m sure….

Our President, who I like to call the Golden Golem of Greatness for his role in restoring this limping nation to something like a 1947 Jimmy Stewart movie — all Christmas and kittens — might be accused of overplaying the sanctions blame-game in order to demonstrate to our own Deep State how much he doesn’t love Russia and its leader, Mr. Putin, a verified agent of Satan. Next thing you know, Mr. Trump will don evangelical robes and hurl bibles at a photo of Vladimir P on Don Lemon’s CNN show. That’ll get Ole Horseface Mueller off his back, won’t it? And those pesky Dem-Progs drooling for impeachment.

Goat Man Devin

Comically bad Inspector Clouseau tribute artist Rep. Devin Nunes was invited to Spokane Washington to help raise funds for Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (famous for her MLK Day diversity celebrations), and as the Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee (thus proving Eiron the Goddess of Irony is doing good work), Nunes’ words to Republican donors takes on heightened value. The press was not invited.

And in short, he eff’ed a chicken.

Admitted he cringes at Comrade Stupid’s stupid tweets.
Said that Wingnuts hadda win the house because they were the last defense for Prznint Stupid!
Stated that if a foreign government (such as Portugal?!) gave a US candidate stolen material (such as emails) and if the candidate used those stolen emails in the campaign, that using them indeed would be a crime.
Admitted that the Freedom Caucus introduced a motion to impeach Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein so that Trump could appoint someone who would be willing to fire special counsel Robert Mueller.
Said that the leadership wants to delay Rosenstein’s impeachment until after Brett Kavanaugh is confirmed to the Supreme Court because if Rosenstein were impeached right now, the Senate would be forced to drop everything and try Rosenstein.

Liberal Tears

I woke up today and my pillow was wet. I think I am now crying in my sleep. I even lose in my dreams. Why is it every time I think with have Drumpf, he turns it into a win? The tears don't stop. Help me.

Bruce Ohr, former Associate Deputy AG, will be in front of Congress on August 28th. His wife worked for Fusion GPS, the oppo research firm for Clinton.

Also posted above so there would be something else on this page besides maryrose's good morning and a killfile palooza!

Audio between "pilot" of stolen Seattle plane and I assume air traffic controller trying to get him down. Very sad but seemingly no evil intent imo.

Miss Marple

Back on the PC so all is well as I have disappeared all of them. When I see those blocks of text I scroll down quick without reading to see if it's from one of us.

Fascinating article on Bill Cowan. Wowza! No idea he was black ops.

Momto2

glasater - Yes! I am eager to know if it will be a closed-door session or televised. This whole Ohr angle is so intriguing with the lack of background information available, the ham radio, etc. A real-life dirty spy novel it seems.

I'm hoping the Ohr's will be discussed by Clarice's Pieces tomorrow!

Frau Kopp Ab
A granite block commemorating then-candidate Donald Trump's victory in the 2016 New Hampshire Republican presidential primary was vandalized early Friday, according to authorities.

The Democrat's American Taliban strikes again.

Miss Marple

I am so aggravated. There was a really good thread on Bruce Ohr early this morning and I was waiting for the author to finish and now I can't find it.

This shadow-banning stuff is driving me crazy. I also end up following people I did NOT follow, and discover other people I did follow, like Dan Bongino, have been mysteriously unfollowed.

glasater

Momto2, I'm checking twitter for more info on the Ohr testimony.

Sometimes the other way round. I had them build a niche so g-g-grandmother's buffet would leave enough room around the table. We've got enough surplus old furniture to start a store, and my house is chock a block. I need to check out local consignment stores before the storage building collapses.

http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/401380-report-cuba-turns-over-suspected-domestic-terrorist-to-us

Not so sure who this "domestic terrorist" is affiliated with, since his middle name is Mahmoud and he was boarding a plane to Russia.

However, I do note that Cuba grabbed him and shipped him back here, pronto. They must be watching the President's actions with Turkey.

Porchlight

Correction from the last thread. O'Connor didn't receive 80-90% of Hillary's 2016 votes. He got that percentage of the votes of Ed Albertson, the 2016 Dem candidate in OH-12.

http://www.conservativehq.com/article/28529-digesting-tuesday’s-election-results

Having trouble finding the raw vote total for Hillary in the district since presidential results are usually tabulated by county and I'm on mobile. If anyone can find it I'd appreciate it. Kos calculates percentage by House district for 2016 but doesn't give vote totals.

Frau @ 12:03...there is row of granite blocks along a path at the State Library in Concord,NH. Trump's was next to Bernie's (both primary winners) and Bernie's wasn't touched.

Kevlar Kid

MM: i'm sending that pic of Kippersnack and Eric Wright kneeling over carnage of our troops and the ocean of blood to my Paw.

in August each year we watch "The Pacific" across different time zones to commmemorate the supreme sacrifice of our family members and his friends who lost big brothers '42-'45.

yesterday he shared stories from his days aboard USS Forestall and one of the Marines aboard who was a vet of 3 campaigns; what that man was like and how he was revered for what he'd seen throughout but never uttered a word to the occasional idiot who would burp up a question on the transport for shore leave or something.

Wright and Kippersnack, along with the rest of the kneelers, were "born in the 90s and don't know sh*t" as Paw says.

Miss Marple

Kev,

A lot of these kneelers were just kids when we got hit by the terror attacks in 2001. They have, in many cases, had crummy history classes and an overdose of the grievance mentality.

I posted that picture because it really spoke to me of the selfishness and ignorance that is fueling these protests. You know it's being whipped up by Hollywood and dem politicians. It's just disgraceful.

.Porch "Antiques market across the board is in decline, which seems weird considering that "retro" in general is hot. The problem is that young people..."

A group of us old codgers were talking the other day about when to finally give up the big house back home and what a hassle that is to even think about. The most common comment was "my kids don't want any of this dark old furniture my husband and I spent a lifetime collecting..." followed by "If you give me grandmother's set of silver, do I have to insure it?" followed by "did people really dine on this china?".

My contribution to the discussion was "the only thing we have which the young people seem to want is my collection of Vargas prints which my wife banished to my office over the pool house decades ago."

Kevlar Kid

What transpired between 1800 and 1865? In 47 years i'll be 109 :D

Conundrum of the day:

If you drop a bar of soap, does the soap become dirty or does the floor become clean?

Jack is Back!

MM,

Dilbee the domestic terrorist is or was a member of Earth Liberation Front, and the Animal Liberation Front. I remember that in California (IIRC) they bombed a bunch of high end SUV's in the dealership's lot. That kind of stuff.

I'll bet Iggy knows of them since another tactic was to spike large trees being harvested.

Kevlar Kid

Stephanie:

you do know the five second rule doesn't apply to soap right? :D

Kev

DebinGA

in August each year we watch "The Pacific"

All 10 episodes are on Amazon Prime. Any vet or anyone close to a vet should know about and if possible participate in an Honor Flight. Hubs and his WWII Navy dad did Honor Flight the week before BOzo shut down the DC memorials and closed Arlington. No surprise BOzo had no idea who he was messin' with.

Old Lurker

Steph, OCD tells me the soap got dirty. Silly question.

:-)

Kevlar Kid

That was our tactic to get out of having to take a bite under the care of Sister Mary Psychosa when we got caught cussin. Drop the bar. It grossed her out and we were instructed to write something 40,000,000 times before recess.

Miss Marple

Old Lurker,

The younger kids have been infected with the fashion of Ikea, another bad thing imported from Scandinavia.

They also have smaller apartments and homes, and are guided in taste by what they see in the home magazines. About the only place you still see a lot of antiques in home decor is in Southern Living.

We solved the problem here by my decorating the living room and my bedroom, while the daughter took over the added on rec room as a suite in the back of the house, where she had her more modern furniture.

She has her grandmother's antique Haviland in a storage tub in the garage.

anonamom

They do not have any interest whatsoever in "brown" furniture.
None.
Unless you paint (!!!) it first.

Old Lurker

A-mom...they have no idea how we scrimped and saved to get that stuff refinished into the beautiful brown it is now!

anonamom

They reposted this on Isty, so I am going to as well.
It is long, but worth the read.

“I said, ‘Instead of the Bible?’” she continues.

“Yeah. The Art of the Deal is a bestseller!” Trump replied, according to her account. “It’s the greatest business book of all time. It’s how I’m going to make great deals for the country. Just think how many copies I’d sell—maybe a commemorative inauguration copy?!”

I hung a picture in my downstairs bathroom that I bought for next to nothing the first time I went to France many moons ago. It's apparently from the burlesque and centers on a topless woman seated on a large table and putting mascara on while looking into a compact mirror. She has winter gloves on her feet, tied with cord, and various other women are only partly shown - one on a sewing machine, another in panties and bra, another doing something with a wardrobe costume.

Everyone who comes to my house and uses the bathroom sees that strange picture, yet hardly anyone has ever asked about it.

rse

Steph-remember the story about the grandmother stabbed to death by an intruder near me about a month ago? Then stole her suv which was found a few miles away a few days later?

Heard yesterday she apparently was in the habit of recruiting labor to do work for her at a quoted price and then renigging on the price after the work was done and paying much less than agreed. Known for bragging to the neighbors like she thought this was the way to get chores done for far less than the going rate.

Boy did that story suddenly make the facts reported make far more sense.

In his remarks, which went for nearly half an hour, or twice as long as the limit for speakers at the event, Avenatti drew repeated standing ovations as he called for a vigorous, aggressive Democratic response to Trump.

He turned Michelle Obama’s famous statement from the 2016 convention – “When they go low, we go higher” – by telling the crowd: “When they go low, I say, we hit harder.”

Just saw a bit of the Presser on the stolen plane. Haven't read anything else but the question arose how did he get to the Runway? That would be easy for a ramp worker with prior aviation skills who had an understanding of how to taxi a plane, and my guess is that this plane being empty of passengers it would need little ground roll distance to even get airborne so i could imagine him even getting airborne on a Taxiway or even on the extended tarmac as long as no one was in his way. SeaTac has plenty of concrete. By the end of the day we'll probably find out how much ground roll distance this particular type of airplane of such and such a weight would need to get airborne.

Also my guess would be that the plane was not at one of the standard gates with that sort of tube we walk thru, but was probably out on the ramp where you either walk to it or are driven to it by a bus. On catch-up I suppose I'll find out if I'm wrong.

Thanks, Narciso.

Foote received four-and-a-half months already served in the brig, and an other-than-honorable discharge from the Marine Corps. It was a remarkably light sentence for such a dangerous and selfish act. But Foote had been a stellar Marine, with absolutely nothing on his record prior to show a pattern of misbehavior or irresponsibility. The General’s influence on him, and his injury in relation to it, was likely factored into the sentence.

After trying to apply to the Israeli Air Force to fly fighters, Howard Foote Jr. went on to become a civilian test pilot and engineer, working on various projects over the years, including a microwave airplane concept and projects for NASA.

Not bad for a guy who stole an operational fast jet from the Marine Corps.

Manny T,

Does this guy Foote ring a bell with you by any chance?
