Inshallah:

An in-depth study conducted by NASA found that humans are responsible for the increasing wobble detected as Earth spins on its axis.

When you think of Earth you may think of an exact sphere, but Earth is actually an oblate spheroid, pockmarked with mountains and deep ocean trenches. These all combine to unevenly distribute weight across Earth's surface. This uneven distribution of weight on Earth's surface is one reason why Earth wobbles on its axis as it spins... https://www.forbes.com/sites/trevornace/2018/09/24/humans-are-causing-earth-to-wobble-more-as-it-spins-nasa-finds/#5add79e3c820

Yes, indeed. I texted that to my sister this afternoon.

Like others on this blog, I've been fighting this battle for many years. Sometimes I think it will never end. Other times, I think it keeps the blood circulating and the neorons doing whatever they're supposed to do. It can be trying, though.

I'm reminded of Edward Bellamy's novel, Looking Backward, which we read in college. At the time, I wasn't terribly impressed with the book, but my opinion - informed by life - has changed. Now, it seems more than prescient.

Lou has on Congressmen Gaetz of Arizona as his first guest, Jim Jordon later topic Rod Rosenstein.

Gaetz:...We have to get answers under oath. And here's what we know Lou. Rod Rosenstein has never denied that he made mention of wearing a wire on the President of the United States. Whats in question is whether or not that was serious or whether it was a joke, or maybe it was a joke that he hoped would become serious. Sometimes people tell jokes at the beginning, but either way it is inappropriate for the Deputy Attorney General of the United States to even be joking about wearing a wire on the President in the presence of colleagues and subordinates. I think Rod Rosenstein needs to be in the Witness Chair this week in the House Judiciary Committee. He needs to go under Oath and explain these circumstances.

Lou: I agree. How do you do that?

Gaetz: I've got an answer to that Lou. There are articles of Impeachment against Rod Rosenstein that are currently pending. Any member of Congress can call those up and they have to be dealt with within 2 days. If our Leadership will not put Rod Rosesnstein in that Witness Chair so the American people can get answers, Mark Meadows and I are prepared to call up his Impeachment and force a vote. That would keep Congress in Session potentially for a few extra days. The Leadership wants to send us home to Campaign but this is important...and if we dont get answers we might start demanding votes... ====================

IMHO it won't happen.

The weird thing about this is the Progs are losing their shit over Kennedy's replacement being as close of a fit as possible. That's no shot intended at Kavanaugh, whom I support 100%, but more like he's like a GOPe type choice than a Tea Party firebreather. In fact one of the caveats about his selection was that he's a potential Souter. I don't think that will happen, but you can't fully rule it out and the point is that the squishes will probably never have such a sympatico choice moving forward and they're still wobbly as hell.

Are there going to be 'Bake My Cake' style lawsuits going forward for men who refuse to hire women?

No sane man will ever give an internship to a female going forward. With all the false accusations being levied at Brett Kavanaugh, there is no reason to jeopardize one's own position by hiring a female.
Liberals were making jokes about Mike Pence and his rule to never being alone with any female ever. Seems like every man going forward will live by the Mike Pence rule to protect themselves.

Lou and Jim Jordon start off talking about Google's bias. Jordon is glad one of Google's bosses is coming to testify and that all of the Social Media networks are coming under Govt scrutiny.

Jordon: I think this is great news. Whether it's google, Facebook or Twitter, we know that these guys have been up to making it difficult for Conservatives to access Conservative information, or get the same kind of access on their Social Media platforms, so I think this is important. As you know Lou, there were 4 members of the House Reps that were "shadow banned" by Twitter---Gaetz, Meadows, Nunes and Jordon. And of course Twitter's response was "Oh it was just a glitch in our algorithm" to which I thought " well wait a minute, what did you put in the Algoritm?-Gaetz Meadows, Nunes and Jordon?" (Lou laughs) Come on. So we know something is going on there, lets got to the bottom of it. They are either a neutral Social Media platform, or they're a Newspaper. And if they are a Newspaper there are different Laws that apply to them. Or we have to look at them as a monopoly maybe and say look, maybe it's time to break them up...We have to start the conversation so it is good they are coming in to talk to Congress.

And most of them have probably come to the conclusion that the U.S. government is weak and unable to stand up for our country's best interests.

Captain Hate

Ext,

I was thinking that they've driven him much further to the right than Kennedy by these attacks. If you want to credit that to Grassley I guess that is a valid point but I still don't like seeing the process debased like it has been.

daddy

Lou: Let me start with Rosenstein...Your thoughts, should the President keep him?

Jordon: I'll leave that up to the President. Here's what I know. Based on what we've learned in the last few days relative to Mr Rosenstein, he should be in front of the House Judiciary Committee as soon as possible to answer our questions. You cannot have, Lou, the top guy at the DOJ , which is what Rosenstein is in effect, you cannot have the top guy at the DOJ talking to subordinates about recording the Commander in Chief, even if it was done in a sarcastic way. You can not have that happen so we need Mr Rosenstein in front of the House Judiciary Committee answering our questions. Who was in that Meeting? Was McCabe? Was Strzok? Was Lisa Page? Who all was in that meeting? What was actually said. We need to know all that information. So come in front of the Judiciary Committee...and answer our questions. And then 2nd, this underscores why we need this information. I asked for those McCabe Memos back in July and the DOJ said "No, we're not going to give them to you," but somehow they are leaking them to the NYTimes, so we need you to give that information to Congress so that we can get answers for you Lou and the American people.

Lou: You are exactly on point. What are we to do with this Department that is leaking and that is not in allignment with the President and actually seems to be working against the President of the United States.

Jordon: This is so frustrating, Lou But think about this, James Comey fired, Andy McCabe Deputy Director fired, Jim Baker Chief Counsel first demoted then left, Lisa Page first demoted then left, Peter Strzok FBI Deputy Director of Counter Intelligence first demoted then fired. When have you ever seen that happen and not just top people, the same top people who ran the Clinton Investigation, launched and ran the Russian Investigation. So this is how serious this is, and we know what they did with the Dossier. We know all the information that's coming out, and now we have Mr Rosenstein who according to the NYTimes, and I don't know whether to believe this or not, I don't know whether to believe Andy McCabe or not since obviously he lied 3 times under Oath, but we now have this story about Mr Rosenstein telling, in front of subordinates, that he was considering actually recording the President of the United States. Come on. This is serious stuff. It's why I want to ask him serious questions and get to the bottom of it so we can all figure out what happened.

Lou: Thanks.

Porchlight

In Grassley's favor, again, Kavanaugh asked over and over for the chance to be heard. I think it's a good thing to put him in front of voters, and Ford too, if she has the nerve.

And Grassley had to deal with Flake who can kill the vote in committee. Because of him, bringing it to the floor without a committee recommendation and no hearing would have been technically possible but highly risky.

The GOP can look sympathetic to the fake victim and fair and also know that their guy is going to come out swinging. The worm is turning, I think, and the Dem circus is only going to drive sympathy toward Kavanaugh. Sunlight on these people works wonders.

I know Grassley is old but he knows the game. I've been praying especially for him.

Don't Presidents get undated but signed resignation letters in advance so they can avoid messy firings?

Jim,

I recall from Doris Kearne Goodwin's "Team Of Rivals" book that Abe Lincoln got a number of Letters of Resignation from Salmon Chase, a sort of very self-important drama queen who felt himself overly invaluable to the Administration and probably thought he was way smarter than his boss, so when Lincoln finally accepted one of his resignation letters he was flummoxed and flabberghasted that Lincoln didn't recognize his worth and would do such a thing. Something like that, IIRC.

Tom R

First of all, even assuming he's correct you're only playing a guessing game on what shutting down this nonsense would have yielded.

Regardless of which alternate history timeline turns out to be the real one as long as Kavanaugh gets confirmed is all that matters.

Second, the whole shitshow was a major embarrassment to the country and anyone not brought up by feral vermin would agree

It’s a major embarrassment to the Democrats, not to MAGA conservatives. Your “and anyone” point is why it’s going to hammer the Democrats in the 2018 midterms.

Third, even if he's confirmed this has become acceptable behavior for the progs. Waiting for them to back off of full retard is a fool's errand.

I would go with “expected” over “acceptable”. I don’t think the Progtards are capable of backing off and that is fine with me. The more they are unhinged the easier it will be to win elections.

I think that all that really needs to be asked of Ms. Ford at the hearing (assuming she shows) is to have her clarify the timeline of her "memory" of what she now says happened. That she didn't have any memory of it and accordingly didn't tell anybody about it until 2012 when she was in therapy and "recovered" the memory. Use her own words.

I don't think most of the country understands that at this point. Most people think she's either lying outright or has not told anyone until now because she was afraid of consequences.

The idea that a professor of psychology repressed her memory of this alleged event for 30 years is frankly very hard to accept. I don't think John Q. Public buys it at all.

A member of my family who is a complete narcissist accused her father of sexually abusing her, based on a "recovered memory" extracted from her by some quack when she was in her early 20s. He died 25 years later, hoping until the last to be reconciled, not even knowing the reason for the estrangement.

In the meantime she "married" and "divorced" a transsexual. Father was not invited of course. The wedding photo was one for the books. The only people smiling were the bride's mother and the parents of the "groom." The rest of the wedding party were glum-faced youths of indeterminate sex.

From the NYT's Let's Throw Rosey Under The Bus Op-Ed.

At least two meetings took place on May 16 involving both Mr. McCabe and Mr. Rosenstein, the people familiar with the events of the day said. Mr. Rosenstein brought up the 25th Amendment during the first meeting of Justice Department officials, they said. A memo about the second meeting written by one participant, Lisa Page, a lawyer who worked for Mr. McCabe at the time, did not mention the topic.

Mr. Rosenstein’s suggestion about the 25th Amendment was similarly a sensitive topic. The amendment allows for the vice president and a majority of cabinet officials to declare the president is “unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.”

Merely conducting a straw poll, even if Mr. Kelly and Mr. Sessions were on board, would be risky if another administration official were to tell the president, who could fire everyone involved to end the effort.

Wouldn't you think Sessions would be the last one you'd want to know you were plotting a coup?
