Second:
Giving the day to Dems because if Wednesday is the new day for Kavsnaugh and Ford than that is a bona fide fold on the Repubs who should be on offense not defense.
Come on Repubs, we showed you how it is done by putting Mayfield in near the end of the second quarter last night.
And there you have it. The bickering doesn't get any closer to knowing the answer, but it's a good question and I agree there's probably an interesting reason why Trump said that.
Knowing that Comey was corrupt, Trump could have been signaling that he also knew that Mueller would have continued in the same vein, covering up for the FBI coup plotters.
From the text TK quoted, Trump didn't say he interviewed Mueller for the job. He simply commented on Mueller's desire, which might not have even been verbalized but only Trump's perception.
He could have just as well said, "I had him in as a courtesy to discuss potential Comey replacements, and during the meeting I sensed that he wanted the job for himself, but I said to myself, 'f that!'"
Does anyone have backup for the claim that Trump interviewed Mueller for the FBI Director position?
That game was an epic disaster for the Jets, TM. Great for Cleveland and their new QB, who looked fantastic, but the kind of thing that can lead to a coach-and GM-firing bloodbath for the Jets.
To make you feel better here is something to consider about Trump’s tweet today. By announcing the DoJ IG will do the final review on the redactions, when the Democrats inevitably whine and complain about what all got released Trump can remind everyone it was Obama’s who appointed Horowitz.

Lankford sounds like a dickweed who is way too full of himself. That type of answer is why we voted for Trump and will continue to shove more Trump types up his pansy ass until he finally gets the message that you work for joan, punk, and get your marching orders from her.
Ext, in 4.5 hours, since my 1st question to Tom, I have made 15 comments directly to Tom related to his assertion. 3 of those were more logistical in that I was either curious when he was available for a back and forth or that I was unsure if the conversation was going to continue.
12 on point comments in that time period doesn't seem so overwhelming.
I wrote another email to Lankford about supporting Kavanaugh. His response is too long to post here. This guy (The Honorable James Lankford) always irritates me with the way he tries to educate me on the issue I'm contacting him about. Also, I feel insulted by how ignorant he thinks I am. Here is a bit I cut from his long response:
"The recent assault allegations against Judge Kavanaugh has changed the investigation and examination. In a confidential letter to Senator Dianne Feinstein, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford accused Judge Kavanaugh of assaulting her when they were both in high school."
I'd like to say: You know what, Senator, I don't care that you have a lot of documents for your staff to study, and I certainly don't give a fig what other Oklahomans have asked you to do -- because evidently they are damn Democrats -- and you're a Republican. (He had said several paragraphs above this:"I have also heard from Oklahomans who would like the Senate to postpone any consideration of Judge Kavanaugh until all documents pertaining to his time in the White House are released.")
He invited me to contact him at a specific address if I had more questions. However, the page he directed me to only let me ask about legislation and a couple of other things.
I feel totally cynical about politicians this morning.
If the Republicans don't turn out in overwhelming numbers in November, Democrats will take Senate and House, because the left is busy, busy, busy.
I'll jump in on the term limit only. It looks like the difference is that it took the House and 60 Senators to give him the extra 2 years (overrule the statute), instead of the normal Senate majority for a regular appointment. No one correct me if I'm wrong, there's a blister on my toe on the pinhead.
I don't know why everyone gets mad at TK for engaging in back and forths but sucks it up when RG calls everyone idiots who don't buy into his nonsense. Well, I do know why that is but I don't play that game and haven't for a long time.
RG's tone is positive. He's not typically arguing, but he does needle negative people in a jovial way. Much easier to take than the constant bickering, IMO.
Maybe there was more than that pool party that Chrissy Blaisey at the Columbia Country Club was involved in and that is what the PGA member reference is to.

Trump issued a statement demanding unredacted documents and Sessions counsels Trump that the IG should release it. I don't see why Trump needed to tweet something that seemed different than his initial demand since he and Sessions 4D plan would have trapped Horowitz either way.
Guess who is going squishy? Susan Collins said she is "appalled" by Trump's tweet about Ford. She said it is reasonable that that Ford be allowed to testify next week and that the judiciary committee make it as "comfortable as possible."
Powerline linked to the first episode of Happy Days but the better analogy is Madonna's Like a Virgin or Cyndi Lauper's Girls Just want to have Fun but those were slightly after the alleged 1982 incident.
Interesting that girls can act like sluts and then claim that they were violated . Now it is yes means no. Mark Steyn subbing for Rush brought up Mattress Girl who was invited to the State of the Union speech by Gillibrand and that Columbia University having to pay off her former boyfriend that she accused of rape.
If Trump wants to restore the magic of building that ice rink in about fifteen minutes, and since he shouted upstairs to the squabbling children twice at least "don't make me come up there", then I fully support Trump personally releasing those documents. Especially if it is part of the "My Fellow Americans Big Reveal" I dreamnt about on the previous thread.
Columbia University having to pay off her former boyfriend that she accused of rape.
Good. Those cowardly assholes have been caving to every clown since Stedman played pretend mau mau badass and didn't get expelled. A friend of my daughter got jammed up on fake rape charges by some mentally ill skirt. Drain the endowment, bitches.
We are pulling into Bridgeport on the Port Jeff ferry. Going up to see Frederick's first game at Canterbury.
It took me an hour to finish the last thread, and to this poing on the Friday thread. I knew Grassley would fold like a cheap suit. Now CNN is supposedly reporting that Rosenstein proposed using the 25th amendment to bounce Trump? Well, it is CNN, so most likely fake news.
I hope Rosenstein has proof of who leaked that to Carlos's chimps because some people are getting very nervous.
The Rosenstein Fake News story is great news IMO. The Obama cabal knows the SIATHTF and this is likely a sign of their desperation.
BTW doesn't everyone who goes into the WH and especially into the Oval Office have to go thru metal detectors? Could anyone wired up actually be able to sneak a wire detector past the Secret Service?
Ben Rhodes admitted that the jurnolists were a bunch of 27 year old millenials with no real life experience who act like trained seals who spew whatever they are fed. Last week Nikki Hailey curtains and this Rosenstein episode is proof positive that Trump is feeding them these made up stories. Ali Watkins proof of the corruption of any journalistic value.
That is just terrible. Not the famous mattress dragger by any chance?
No, this was in the late 90s/early aughts. His parents fought it but they wouldn't take it off his student record. He graduated and seems to be living a successful and happy life, which is the best revenge.
I still interact with him sporadically on Zuckerberg. Of all my youngest daughter's exes, I liked him the best.
Like Ex I'm not sure who is arguing what position about any of this any more.
All I know is Occam tells me if Trump meets with Mueller one day before Mueller is appointed SC it was probably about him becoming SC.
If that is incorrect take it up with William.
Joe diGenova made a comment about the PGA being involved in this. Apparently Ford had been contacting some PGA members.
One golfer commented that people should be looking for students of hers from California. The assumption in some quarters was that she was looking for people to back her up. I think it just as likely that she was begging them to keep their mouths shut about what they knew about her.

Yup, migraine wise, still have minor headaches that are really sinus pain/pressure. Using a sinus rinse and Emergen-C Immune+ usually takes care of right away. Feels damn good to feel damn good!
We decided to further reduce one of the meds, a little difficult this week but getting through it. If I was to stop this specific med completely, could cause me serious medical issues including hospitalization/death, so I expected an issue or two to pop-up. It will take 2-3 months to completely come off the med, which fewer meds are better.
I signed up for Planet Fitness and met with the trainer today to create a customized work-out plan (due to the medical issues I have experienced). I will go through Orientation on Monday am, based upon the workout plan and machines I will be using. I really need to TAKE IT SLOW as I have been down for so long that I am way out of shape. I have been cleared by doctors and feel ready to start working out.
I started with the new account (to me anyway) last month but really getting engaged with a specific project in the last 2 weeks. It is a mostly documentation project for a 23-year-old system with minimal documentation. I used to hate doing documentation, but I am really enjoying the work so far as I have to learn new tech and different business models. I still must be sick, either that or I missed being able to work.

Captain Hate:
Yes, I agree we get along swell, after an occasionally rocky start. I still owe you the rest of my Great Upheaval review, which I feel very guilty about -- I'm afraid I left you with the impression that I didn't find it terribly edifying, when nothing could be further from the truth. It was a fantastic read. It's just been nearly impossible to organize the index card box full of notes I took into any sort of blog comment length, without setting aside a day or two to do it in.
My only serious critique is that Winik ultimately proves his own thesis about the U.S. not developing in international isolation wrong. If it weren't for our long remove, can anyone seriously doubt that our post-Revolution infant Republic would have been dismembered by the Continental Powers just like Poland? Indeed, we probably wouldn't have won in the first place. As a country/culture in existence for barely a hundred years, we also didn't have a lower class with centuries of grievances looking for retribution as well as redress. Was it John Jay writing from Paris who said the Atlantic was the only thing saving us? I found myself wanting to read more of Gouverneur Morris' commentary, as yet not accomplished.
OK, well, since I've inadvertently gotten started... Our isolation from European was absolutely key to our survival and development. In his effort to show us of a piece with Europe, Winik either equated things like actual bloodletting and battles in Europe with metaphorical bloodletting in America, or ended up just saying something like "oddly enough," such & such in Europe wasn't repeated in the US. Then he'd simply move on without addressing or acknowledging the obvious reasons for such a distinct departure from the European pattern.
The upside, is that I weaned myself off the 21st century news that had been leaving me angry all the time. Instead of checking out the usual bloggers & websites in the morning, I'd start my day with a chunk 18th news from The Great Upheaval instead. The European news was especially fascinating. I hadn't actually realized that Catherine the Great was a contemporary figure. At night I would watch the fabulous Russian series [Ekaterina], and then a terrific French Series [Nicolas Le Floch], both set in the same period, and an incredible Turkish series [Resurrection: Ertugrul] which, though set in an earlier time, centered on the migration of the tribe and the man who would father the Ottoman Empire. The combo of exceptionally well-produced print and film really brought the whole period alive for me in a wonderfully instructive and entertaining way. I also didn't mind Winik's incomplete sentences, once I got used to them. He covered and immense amount of territory.
Some things would be so much easier if we were all sitting around just having a conversation, but perhaps this is at least a little better than a card box version which never gets written. Thanks so much for the recommendation; I can actually say it changed my life. :-)
After another fair-to-middling 9 holes of golf Yesterday I had dinner with my golfing buddies, one a stalwart NPR/NYT liberal and the other a politically unconcerned LIV. They brought up the Kavanaugh, thing; I did not take the bait and let them talk. Both were in agreement that the thing is a circus, that whatever it was was 36 years ago and the fact that nothing has ever come to light to suggest that anybody has or had any suspicions or complaints about Kavanaugh seems to indicate that it has no importance, and that the main purpose of the circus seems to be to delay a vote until after the election.
We hardly ever agree on anything political. We also agreed that we all have known guys who are horrible to women, and that they don't just do it one time and then stop for 35 years. So if Kavanaugh were a creep there would be other stuff there.
If these two guys think this way, then I think it is a good bet that somewhere in the range of 90% of guys think the same thing.
However--it also seems like the reaction of lots and lots of women is to think about the time that some creep did something creepy, and they didn't "report" it, for a whole lot of legitimate reasons. Totally unfair to Kavanaugh, but that's what it is. And that is what Grassley is dealing with.
Speaking of Kavanaugh...

Posted by: Marlene | September 21, 2018 at 01:56 PM
That's a very good point.
It is a great point. Especially since the only person this applied to was Mueller was for his second term, proving it is possible.

All I know is Occam tells me if Trump meets with Mueller one day before Mueller is appointed SC it was probably about him becoming SC.
If that is incorrect take it up with William.

If Trump doesn't fire Rosenstein (or force him to resign) would you interpret that as a sign the NY Times article was an outright lie?

It is simple. Tom says the Mueller could not be FBI director again and that is "rock solid" proof that Trump is lying.
I provided evidence that Mueller actually could be the FBI director again.

Jane,
About the golf thing:
Joe diGenova made a comment about the PGA being involved in this. Apparently Ford had been contacting some PGA members.
One golfer commented that people should be looking for students of hers from California. The assumption in some quarters was that she was looking for people to back her up. I think it just as likely that she was begging them to keep their mouths shut about what they knew about her.
That's all I know right now.

Still headache free?

Yes I am questioning the President’s judgment on this. I think he is waiting too long.
Early voting has started and some of these voters still think the Dems are the good guys.
I want them painted as the corrupt , rotten immoral losers that they are.
These documents reveal all that.
