Including things like the pre-comma preface of that sentence might be why some people get irked Tom. Isn't it kind of the flip side of "only idiots believe in 4D chess" to say people who believe "in the concept of Constitutional rule of law" think A and anyone who thinks B by necessity do not?
It's very possible to believe Mueller's entire mandate, whatever it is, is an affront to the rule of law.

Jerome Corsi, a conspiracy theorist with links to both ex-Trump aide Roger Stone and Infowars host Alex Jones, has been subpoenaed to testify before a federal grand jury in Washington, D.C., Friday as part of special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe, his attorney says.
It came at an interesting moment, because Judge Brett Kavanaugh had been caught by Leahy with a line of questioning for which the nominee clearly had not been prepared. It involved an episode while Kavanaugh worked in the White House counsel's office under President George W. Bush. In 2004, it was revealed by Charlie Savage, then working at the Boston Globe, that Republican staff members on the Judiciary Committee had penetrated the computer files of the Democratic senators on that committee that were concerned with judicial nominees, and that, in addition to using the purloined files to their own advantage, those staffers shared them with the media.
The revelation comes as the battle of judicial nominees is reaching a new level of intensity. Last week, President Bush used his recess power to appoint Judge Charles Pickering to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, bypassing a Democratic filibuster that blocked a vote on his nomination for a year because of concerns over his civil rights record. Democrats now claim their private memos formed the basis for a February 2003 column by conservative pundit Robert Novak that revealed plans pushed by Senator Edward M. Kennedy, Democrat of Massachusetts, to filibuster certain judicial nominees. Novak is also at the center of an investigation into who leaked the identity of a CIA agent whose husband contradicted a Bush administration claim about Iraqi nuclear programs.
Citing "internal Senate sources," Novak's column described closed-door Democratic meetings about how to handle nominees..

The Times today is taking the rare step of publishing an anonymous Op-Ed essay. We have done so at the request of the author, a senior official in the Trump administration whose identity is known to us and whose job would be jeopardized by its disclosure. We believe publishing this essay anonymously is the only way to deliver an important perspective to our readers. We invite you to submit a question about the essay or our vetting process here.
Its like the baggage handlers at JFK unloading a 747. If I am a Dem senator, I am thinking, "Why the hell did I listen to Soros and sacrifice my neat little gig here."
Jon Lovett of Crooked Media and Pod Save America, noted, “Tucker Carlson’s transition from conservative serious-ish writer to blustery CNN guy to Daily Caller troll to race-baiting Fox News host is like ice core data on what led to this moment in our politics.”
In June, Conor Friedersdorf, wrote in The Atlantic, “Carlson squandered his considerable God-given talent for scrupulously true commentary, opting instead for clickbait at The Daily Caller or dumbed-down demagoguery at Fox.”
There’s something to all the liberal hand-wringing. In a speech Carlson gave to CPAC in 2009, he pleaded with conservative journalists to focus on reporting rather than punditry. He held up The New York Times as a standard bearer, begging writers “to go out there and find what is happening….not just interpret things they hear in the mainstream media.” His pleas were met with boos.
But just six years later, Carlson was calling out The New York Times for pro-Clinton advocacy, and in June 2018 accused the paper of blatantly lying to the American people about Saddam Hussein’s weapons of mass destruction, Bashar Al-Assad, and Russian interference in the 2016 elections.
If we can figure out how an intelligent writer and conservative can go from writing National Magazine Award–nominated articles to shouting about immigrants on Fox News, perhaps we can understand what is happening to this country, or at least to journalism, in 2018.
If you ask his former editors, they’ll say they’re wistful when they think about the old Tucker Carlson..
The 25th Amendment. Oh good grief.
Can we stop Charlie Browning the football?

Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. 24 You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.
25 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. 26 Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.
27 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean. 28 In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.
In my opinion the Special Counsel law is unconstitutional and I am a lawyer. If a crime has been committed--and eaven knows we have plenty of criminal laws, prosecute, If it is believed a federal official has acted outside the law impeachment is the method.
Anything else leads to crap like we now have. A truly unrestricted witch hunt by prosecutors with unlimited resources , including garbage laws on conspiracy and obstruction.

Q:
A prominent businessman in our town makes a big show of being an active Christian, but over the years many people in the community have learned not to trust him. Does the Bible say anything about people like this?
A:
I’m always saddened whenever I hear of someone who claims to follow Jesus but has a bad reputation because of the way they live. It’s not limited to those in business, of course; anyone can bring shame to the name of Christ by their moral or ethical failures.
Some of Jesus’ strongest words were directed at those who claimed to believe in God and follow His law, and yet denied Him by the way they lived. On the surface, they may have appeared good and righteous, but in their hearts they were selfish and unconcerned about others, and it showed in their actions. Jesus condemned them for their hypocrisy, and warned us not to be like them. He said, “You hypocrites!… You have neglected the more important matters of the law — justice, mercy and faithfulness” (Matthew 23:23).
Don’t let this one person’s failures keep you from Christ, and don’t use someone’s apparent hypocrisy as an excuse to turn your back on Him. Christ alone is worthy of our commitment, and He alone can change our hearts and make us into the people He wants us to be. God’s will is for us to be “pure and blameless… filled with the fruit of righteousness” (Philippians 1:10-11).

I believe that is the same rationale the Times used when they published the manifesto by the UniBomber.
I hope you're right, Tom. My thoughts are they're trying to distract from the embarrassment of the Kavanaugh hearings but I'd greater prefer you being right.
I call BS on JiB claiming to have written that letter to the NYT.
As long as we have known him, could any of us imagine that Jack, were he in that position feeling that way, would not stand up tall, explain his reasons, then resign his post in public, letting the chips fall where they may?
That used to be what honor demanded of a gentleman.
The funny thing is, the NYT still thinks any thinking person trusts them when they say the writer is known to them and holds a senior position on Trump's team.
Sounds like Omarosa to me.
If not for Donald Trump- no one would know who she is.
Wrt NYT:
Woodward book was supposed to be the giant killer.
Now largely discredited, the editors at NYT come up with this anonymous letter.
Not laying s glove on Kavanaugh.
Three strikes you are out. Sorry NYT- that dog won’t hunt.
Is Chris Coons the jerk that O'Donnell was supposed to crush if not for the total destruction of her? Because, I see a JV kid trying to impress the starting QB of a championship team, and failing.
If the writer was really who the Times has claimed, and was really acting as he/she claimed the writer would have given specific instances where Trump almost did something crazy and the WH “resistance” stopped it. The only specific thing named was his reluctance to expel Russians (of course) over the poison attack in Britain before more evidence was brought forth that it was Russia.

They lie. They're liars. Liars lie. That is who they are.
Half the time we get snookered by half baked lies that aren't even intended for us. They're just hackneyed corn pone pellets for the starving prog tadpoles like poor demented Ben.

Should I be worried about that?
Yep Iggy. We should be the guys who are worried, not the Dems.

Earth to TomR
Mueller is not investigating Hullary take too long and get out of control like the current one. and company because there have been No, not one interview or indictment in over a year.
I do not believe in a special counsel for ANYTHING.
I was told Sessions assigned Horowitz and Huber to investigate Hillary and the FISA warrants.
Where are their reports?
We needed them like yesterday.
Special counsels take too long .

Tommy boy
You have to have a crime to set up a special counsel.
They set up a special counsel without stating a crime, jackass

Yes, but there you don't. You're just like the demented Eye Doctor; you're full of sophomoric Hamilton Burger direct but are frightened of even acknowledging you've been asked one.
The mark of the pathologically insecure.
No doubt stems from your embarrassment over that SS question you flubbed so badly years ago and your infamous negative times a negative soliloquy.

Okay, full disclosure. I wrote that OpEd in the NY Times. Yes, I asked them to keep my name out of it, since I still have to live next to neighbors who still have Stassen for President signs up in their yards. They agreed.
It was heartfelt.

Clarice "A truly unrestricted witch hunt by prosecutors with unlimited resources"
For complete accuracy, please insert "biased partisan hack" between "by" and "prosecutors"
You're welcome.

The NY Times oped is just more evidence to me that Trump is over the target and the hammer is about to drop.

These loud mouth jerks spew their venom and are kicked out.

The Times today is taking the rare step of publishing an anonymous Op-Ed essay. We have done so at the request of the author,
a senior official in the Trump administration whose identity is known to us and whose job would be jeopardized by its disclosure. We believe publishing this essay anonymously is the only way to deliver an important perspective to our readers. We invite you to submit a question about the essay or our vetting process here.I believe that is the same rationale the Times used when they published the manifesto by the UniBomber.

Medved is reading the anonymous essay. He is very emotional about it.
Posted by: Threadkiller | September 05, 2018 at 04:29 PM
The funny thing is, the NYT still thinks any thinking person trusts them when they say the writer is known to them and holds a senior position on Trump's team.
I am still chuckling.
