Eye Doctor .

When will we get pictures of Ford's house with two front doors?

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

--Iggy, you know what they say about broken clocks, right?--

That I'm right again?

Captain Hate

This is on McConnell. He gave campaign funds to Murcowski as a write in candidate because he didn't want a Tea Party senator. That worked out well.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

Flake will end up a yes.
This kabuki is almost entirely for him to preen and swank about.
His history is he puts on the ritz and then the cracker votes yes.

mad jack

dems are going to dem. they have been a disgrace for decades. this is entirely on the squishes. James D's fire starter needed stat. OL, just checking on the Makers Mark. I ve been hitting it pretty hard lately.

Jane

As I predicted above, Ford's lawyers have now announced that a week is not time enough. The only point is to delay the vote until after the election.

Marlene

Surprise! Collins supports "this sensible agreement" to investigate sex abuse claims.

Captain Hate

Failure Theater by the GOP!

daddy

Is there anyone on the planet that sincerely thinks an FBI investigation is going to do anything other than delay?

Lisa Murkowski does:

(An FBI Investigation) would sure clear up all the questions, wouldn’t it?

mad jack

coincidentally it is past the start of cocktail "hour". later.

Frau Steingehirn

I'm beginning to hate Debra Katz.
Will she be taking a full polygraph for Ford and answering all questions the FBI asks?

Extraneus

Flake will end up a yes.

How will he make a living after leaving the Senate if he votes yes? I don't see it.

maryrose

Iggy:
I agree with you wrt to Flake.
He also gets to piss off President Trump one more time.
OL:
Agree with you wrt some moves President Trump has made which have not had a beneficial effect.
We can’t get so down we give up hope.
Porch is right.
It is a delay but we had a positive vote out of committee.I actually think some of the Dems believed he would hold up the committee vote or vote no.We got over the first hurdle.
We will get over this next one.
Remember if they bring a charge falsely it is a felony.

Tom R,

TS clearance are a dime a dozen these days. I had a TSC (Crypto) back in my regular and reserve AF days which took over 24 weeks to get. I didn't need it right away since I was in Bomb/Nav school. Today, there are over 5 million eligble security clearances today. 1.5 million are top secret.

Back in my 1965-1979 time of service, less than a total of 2 million eligible clearances and only 800K top secret. Less than that with the Crypto extension.

How long did your's take? And if your army MOS was medical, why did you need a TS?

Captain Hate

Remember if they bring a charge falsely it is a felony.

You keep writing these sentences knowing they mean nothing. They've already committed multiple felonies and nobody is doing anything about it.

mad jack,

Following Beast's example I am having a martini. It is neeed for medicinal purposes.

Also, I am starting on low carb (per anonamomm's recommendation) so red wine is out.

Kevlar Kid

Under California's vote-enacted Top Two Open Primary Act, the rules for write-in candidates have changed. Write-in votes cast for someone who has not filed as an official write-in candidate will not be counted.

maryrose

Fird’a lawyers don’t have anymore to say about this.
The FBI is in charge.
They had their day on the stage.
They need to be told to back off immediately or criminal charges will be leveled at them for leaking confidential information about their client.
Hardball tactics now.

Another Bob

Maryrose, just stop. Please.

maryrose

President Trump is not going to abide by what these dopey lawyers want.

derwill

There’s the ledge and then there’s hanging out on an I-beam 100 stories up. There won’t be any more named accusers. You think Ramirez and Avenatti’s skank aren’t regretting that they went there? The bad actors in the FBI did what they did because they were convinced Hillary would win and protect them. Do you think anyone at the FBI is raising their hand to be the next McCabe or Stzrok?

Ig is right. This is just cover for the ditzy sisters. Not optimal but not the end of the world as we know it.

At least that is what I hope. Because I don’t like heights.

daddy

Bongino was Secret Service

I don't think McCarthy was in the FBI either.

My point is you can't trust anybody McCarthy vouches for since everybody he vouches for is shit, whereas at least Bongino probably knows people who are in the FBI that can be trusted to do their jobs. I would ask McCarthy to submit a list of names and every individual he recommended I would scratch off the list.

Rocco

I'm sick and feel like Ralphing!

Perhaps some one in the Palo Alto area should go take a picture of Ford's house with the two front doors

Another Bob

Dewill, what will be different a week from now?

In fact there is a reason I don’t respond directly to you anymore.
I would appreciate if you do not respond to me at all.

From 6-29-18 NR:

"So rather than inspiring liberal turnout in the midterms, the Kennedy-replacement fight may convince the Left that Senate Democrats are a feckless, spineless collection of politicians who aren’t worthy of support. Instead of flocking to the polls in record numbers, as they did to elect Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012, Democrats may revert to their familiar midterm pattern of low turnout — a pattern that was in evidence in 2014 and helped Republicans get the Senate majority they are using to confirm conservative judges at a record pace."

Extraneus

Even the optimistically liberal 538 is projecting that Republicans gain seats in the Senate. (They say there's only a 20% chance of Rs keeping the House.)

Thomas Collins

Here's what's happening: Mitch has a week to get 50 of 51 GOP votes, so Pence can break the tie. If he can't get the votes, the nomination will be withdrawn.

No matter how Dems vote tomorrow on the vote before the vote, there is no way any Dem will vote to confirm if that vote is needed to get to 50. Manchin might be given a pass to vote yes if Mitch has locked up 50 of the 51 GOPers.

Porchlight

No matter how Dems vote tomorrow on the vote before the vote

Which vote is that? Is it going forward?

derwill

The FBI was given a deadline. They will meet it, because it is not worth it to them not to and there is nothing to investigate anyway. The Dems will scream not enough time. McConnell will hold the vote anyway, at which point the ditzy sisters will have to poop or get off the pot. They now have cover that the FBI investgated, so they will vote yes, because MCConnel has politely explained the consequences will be of voting no after he gave them the cover they asked for.

Rocco

Heh Dave, not a drop of Italian blood in me!

daddy

Just my bet, but I think Collins is a yes and Murkowski can be bought.

Well it's disgusting because Trump has already given her ANWR which was in political limbo for the last 50 years, has already given her the 26 mile Cold-Bay to King Cove road, totally for free and it was likewise politically stalled for 30-40 years, and he's beefed the crap out of the Military up here, and that's just for starters. Radio News announced today that millions of Federal Dollars are coming in to beef up our Anchorage Airport Runway reconstruction projects. Hell, Lisa owes Trump, not the other way round.

Captain Hate

Wictor's take on what's going on. Take it or leave it.

Very good conclusion!

You have earned the number 4 slot for your insults.

Miss Marple (the real one)

Jack,

She is leaving tomorrow to fly to Mexico and marry him.

I am now convinced he is a good guy and will take care of her. Whether he gets up here soon or we have a long wait, depends on immigration law and how good they are with navigating it.

Anyway, I want her to be happy and my son spoke to im and is convinced he really cares about her and will protect her.

Extraneus

not a drop of Italian blood in me!

TC
Good review of the vote count and what we have to shoot for.
Manchin has everything on the line with this vote and really wants to vote yes.

lurkersusie

Telling it like it is?

@TomCottonAR
If FBI investigation is limited to “current credible allegations” against Kavanaugh, then it should be over now, because there are no credible allegations against him.

And only a fool would think this will change Senate Democrats’ shameful treatment of Kavanaugh. Mark my words.

The reason I’m skeptical of the “cover” for RINOs to vote yes is that the investigation can’t and won’t conclude anything. That will if anything give cover for voting no, since they will feign concern about the “doubts” and he “cloud” hanging over the nomination.

Thomas Collins

If Manchin's vote is needed (that is, Mitch gets only 49 GOPers), maryrose, and he votes to confirm, maybe I'll get a "JM" tattoo!

Bubarooni

Flake is such a drama queen.

I'd wager the elevator encounter was staged by him so that he'd have cover to pull this stunt about demanding a FBI background check as a compromise to preserve 'comity' in the Senate.

He just couldn't man up and make the vote.

FFFFFFF*ck Flake.

He's a loser.

maryrose

Jimmyk:
The consequences of voting no will harm Collins and Murkowski.
I think Flake will vote yes.
But if he doesn’t then I am hopeful Manchin and Heitkampf will join the yes group if they want to return to the Senate.
Personally I think McCaskill and now Donnelly are toast.

Of course they are. I’m not surprised.

daddy

The FBI was given a deadline. They will meet it

I may be wrong but I just don't buy that. It seems to me that once an Investigation starts its timeline becomes dictated by wherever it's Investigations lead.

Also, since Katherine Herridge said this:

Katherine Kerridge: ...The rules and procedures are very straight forward. In a case like this with a Background Check, they gather the information, they speak to the witnesses, as it went forward here they would speak to the Witnesses who had first hand knowledge of the alleged incident, and others who Dr Ford said were present but have since said they have no recollection of the incident. The FBI would document those interviews in what are called 302's. These are interview summaries, they are not transcripts, and that would be provided to the Senate Judiciary Committee and it's really the Committee's role to take that information. The FBI makes no judgements, reaches no conclusions. Senate Investigators would have to pick-up those leads, do follow-up if they so choose, and then they get into the advise and consent, whether they consent, based on the evidence in the Background Check, to move the Nomination forward.

Is she wrong? Do the finding not go back to the Senate Judiciary Committee to be nitpicked forever all over again?

Oop.Mitch McConnell. I will transcribe.

maryrose

Ford’s team is full of arrogance and hubris.
They were unsuccessful yesterday and are licking their wounds.
Their fall will be an epic thing to behold.

Porchlight

"Dr. Ford's team is saying 'no' to a one-week deadline, as the president has ordered, and Senator Flake and others have promised to, and they're also saying no limit on scope."

Tough shit. They bumped it up to orange man and he calls the shots now.

Porchlight

daddy, it seems like she's talking about the process during a normal confirmation hearing. We're well past that stage now. The committee has already voted on the nomination. I don't see how they can take it up again, so ISTM that whatever the FBI finds goes to McConnell.

Barbara

The Republicans were never going to properly question B-Ford, and the democrats were always going to defame Judge Kavanaugh even though his background is exemplary.

The Republicans were thinking forward to the election; the dems focus has always been that swing vote on the Supreme Court. In those circumstances, anyone that the President nominated was going to get reamed. Kavanaugh was and is just about the "cleanest" nominee President Trump could have chosen.

I only wish that the Republicans had been a bit tougher on B-Ford. I wish they would stop falling all over themselves to express their empathy for her. Given the information that is gradually coming out, it's obvious to these eyes that this woman is lying. The Committee knows it; the Senators know it; the media knows it; the public knows it.

I just hope that Senator McConnell has a few debts to call in, and is good at counting votes. Without McMonster there, we just might have a chance to get Kavanaugh confirmed.

derwill

The FBI will ask the four people Ford named if they stand by their signed affidavits. They will say yes, because saying no at this point would be catastrophic for them. They’ll ask Kavanaugh the same questions Mitchell did yesterday and he’ll answer no to all of them. The person who should be worried right now is Ford, because she is already caught up a lie. Her best bet is to stick strictly to the story she gave yesterday, which will be impossible to verify because she “can’t remember” when or where. At which point the FBI will come back with a report saying they have found notihing new.

Exactly and because she got softball questions yesterday. There were so many harder questions that could have been asked.

Remember, the only people she's talked to so far are mystery polygraph guy, sympathetic lawyers, sympathetic legislators, the sympathetic press, and Ms. Sympathetic Teddy Bear Mitchell.

Ralph L

It seems like the only thing to investigate is Ford's credibility. Why does she have any say in the matter?

daddy

Sen Mitch McConnell on the Floor.

McConnell: ...The Committee has also thoroughly investigated the last minute allegations that have been brought forward. The evidence that has been brought forward either fails, fails to corroborate these accusations, or in fact supports Judge Kavanaugh's unequivocal denials. In some cases the accusers have even recanted their baseless allegations. All in all this is a nominee who has received what many have considered the Gold Standard of Judicial Qualifications---a rating of "Unanimously Well Qualified" from the ABA. So this is a Nomination that deserves to move forward, and that is precisely Mr President what is happening. I commend our colleagues on the Committee for sending this impressive nominee here to the Floor with favorable recommendation. Now we will keep the process moving. The full senate will begin considering Judge Kavanaugh's nomination today.

The Talking Heads now talking appear to think an Investigation will take place so Mitch must have said something previous that I did not see.

maryrose

Derwill :
Totally agree. You are on fire today!

Porchlight

So Mitch is moving forward according to the original timeline (at least the one established before Flake flaked) while the FBI is simultaneously investigating.

Not seeing much of a delay here if Mitch sticks to the plan. And you can say what you want about him, but Turtle is good at this and obviously motivated.

Porchlight

daddy, Trump already ordered the investigation, limited in scope and time.

Threadkiller

FBI interview rooms are where good people go to perjure themselves. Kavanaugh's claim of being a beer drinking highschooler that never blacked out will be front and center.

Kevlar Kid

So the Allegator is willing to make her false claims to the FBI? Aren't there serious legal repercussions for doing so?

Who frames the focus of the investigation when there is not any evidence?

Isn't Director Wray well within his purview to say "Sorry-- this aint how it works. Go pound sand."

Kavanaugh has had many background checks, or so i've heard. Were those Bureau background checks?

How many background checks has the Allegator had done on her?

This could backfire. At what point does this become so ridiculous that the Dhimmis have to come out and call Judge Kavanaugh a serial predator due to the sheer number of alleged victims coming forward?

I can't see Director Wray spending precious resources on this inanity where US Senators don't even understand how the Justice Department works...do they realize the FBI is part of that agency?

The key in all of this is Judge Kavanaugh standing firm while Ford counts her lucky stars she doesn't have a prostate.

derwill

Also, Ford doesn’t get to say no to the FBI, regardless of what her lawyers are demanding. The Dems are really I’ll-serving this woman, who seems to have some serious mental health issues.

daddy

daddy, Trump already ordered the investigation, limited in scope and time.

Thanks, Porchlight. I missed that completely.

Threadkiller

So the Allegator is willing to make her false claims to the FBI?

I've been thinking about the list of false claims that would go against Ford. It seems to me that there is nothing about her "recollection" of the incident that can be considered a false claim due to the vagueness of her testimony.

I think the false claims will center on her activities since 2012.

I have no doubt that she is willing to do whatever the dems ask to delay/derail Judge Kavanaugh's appointment. I'm sorry but I can't buy into a scenario that she is/was some poor helpless, damaged girl who is being railroaded by the Democrats. We have not seen her social media for a reason. The Judge on TK's 06:43 who just ruled for Richard Blumenthal against Trump is guess who? C'mon , go ahead and guess.

Here's a hint. He was really mad he got lied to during the Ted Stevens Trial he presided over.

[T]he Court finds that the plaintiffs have standing to sue the President for allegedly violating the Foreign Emoluments Clause,” U.S. District Judge Emmet G. Sullivan wrote in response to the suit, which was brought forward by Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.).

“Plaintiffs argue that each Member of Congress suffers a particularized and concrete injury when his or her vote is nullified by the President’s denial of the opportunity to vote on the record about whether to approve his acceptance of a prohibited foreign emolument,” Sullivan explained.
