Rich, 465 is the local pain in azz. I'm sure it's a lark compared to the Capital Beltway but, the same principle. An aerocar on either would be great, with or without the sound effects.

My twin worked for the Congressional Research Service for about 7 years and we went out to visit him a couple of times. I drove the interstate out from Indianapolis to DC but once we got there she took over on the Beltway.

We quickly learned I didn't have the temperament for the Beltway. The regular rules of the road didn't apply once you got there. I thought everyone one the Beltway was trying to start a fight.

What's bothering me in Tom's reaction to the indictments today is the continuation of being an apologist for police state tactics. Rather than saying this is a contrast to how Holder did things, I think it's a continuation of the malicious prosecution of James O'Keefe. And again, just because these guys are indicted doesn't mean they're guilty of a damn thing. Until proven otherwise to my satisfaction, the DOJ is at war with the country.

Finally caught up, slept until 6 PM, must have been tired.

Some comments from today's posts.

Yeah, Iran reverse-engineered an F-5 and called it a "new" plane. While the F-5 was a very good plane it was mostly sold to overseas allies. It was a capable air fighter and ground attack plane with several variants and updates. The production line ended in 1987.

Wood floors, if you have modern Polyurethane finishes you don't need wax. Older wood floors with stain and open grain, not shellacked, wax is good. I use lemon oil polish on my wood furniture. For some unknown reason is seems to feed the wood through the finish. Shines up really nice. Put it on, wait a while, the put some more on if the first pass sinks in. Vigorously wipe off any excess to bring up the shine and to get rid of excess oil. No idea how it might work on flooring.

The Iranians are currently calling their newest iteration of the F5 'stealth'.

Not even close.

It might be an improved version of a 3rd gen fighter but they can't do the enginering work for materials or especially engines.

They can skin an F5 however they want. It'll never supercriuise.

Bubarooni,

Agreed, you could take an F-5, real or copy, maybe upgrade the electronics, but no way is it going to stealthy, or for that matter, comparable in any way to newer fighters. They stopped producing F-5s 31 years ago.

China, the most advanced country in reverse-engineering fighters, still has problems building jet engines that last or are as powerful as the originals.

I was under the impression that many doctors are a small business:

A doctor from Plano, Texas has apologised for saying the gender pay gap in medicine is fair because female physicians “do not work as hard and do not see as many patients” as men.

Dr Gary Tigges’ remarks were published by the Dallas Medical Journal, in a section entitled “Big and Bright Ideas”. Women did not work as hard as men, he said, because “they choose to, or they simply don’t want to be rushed, or they don’t want to work the long hours. Most of the time, their priority is something else … family, social, whatever.”

He added: “Nothing needs to be ‘done’ about this unless female physicians actually want to work harder and put in the hours. If not, they should be paid less. That is fair.”

In the social media storm that followed, responses included a request to “please tell him that he’s just pissed off a few thousand HARD WORKING women physicians” and: “These kinds of views … are not supported by actual data. The gender pay gap is not ‘fair’. It is discrimination.”

We were at a buddy’s house at Luke Air Force Base west of Phx where Mrs MT and I were the only non-military types there. They threw a party for the landing. My pal was an F-100 instructor pilot and shipped out to VN not long after. He and I along with a few other AF types built race cars together both during their time at ASU (in the AFIT program that JiB doesn’t believe existed there) and afterward when a few managed to get stationed nearby. At least two of those guys were full on ‘right stuff’ pilots, but never got picked up for the space pgm.

When the Challenger went down we were in our second facility in Cowlumbus on the opposite end of the building that Bobby Ray Hall had his office. Sent the team home for the day. Nobody could work after that. Turns out a current friend piloted the ship that found the wreckage.

Thus, his remark on uncivil liberals. If we're with them, fine, if not, they feel free to harass and suppress us. They're "good" Americans, so they're entitled to do this. We, of course, are "bad" Americans and deserve this. What a way to unite a nation.

My aunt is the only female radiologist I think I have ever met. All the radiologists my wife has ever worked with are men. PIN,

I think I told this story before, but I had pain in my left knee. Thought it was falling apart 25 years ago. Someone suggested I see a podiatrist. First thing he said was get rid of the Reebok's they give you absolutely no support. They're squishy, he said.

After an an examination he discovered that my right leg was a little shorter than my left. Conjecture on my part - maybe from sitting on a wallet in my right rear pocket, whatever.

And he found that I was pronating. That is my high arches were collapsing when I walked. If you look at people's shoes most of them wear down on the outer sides of the heels. Mine suffered more wear on the inner part of the heels and sole.

He got me custom orthopedics and a 1/4 inch lift to use in the heel of the right shoe.

The custom orthopedics sucked. If the feet aren't aligned properly when they take casts of your feet, the the orthos are off.

My solution was a lot of reading. Found anti-pronation sneakers from New Balance. Found Aetrex which makes standard orthopedics under the brand name Lynco.

Aetrex opened a store in Englewood, NJ, and installed a diagnostic device. You step on it with just your socks on and it instantly diagnosis your feet.

Dr. Scholl's has similar machines in Wal-Marts.

If you think you have something wrong with your knees or feet this is a free way to consider the problem.

Ironically, when I was kid, I had flat feet, so when we went to Stride Right bootery they always glued an arch support into my shoes to correct my feet. It worked. I now have high arches to my feet, unfortunately they collapse under any weight.

Custom orthotics aren't worth the price. Get the ready-made if you need them.

MM,

It was like he didn't want to resign, but didn't have the strength to go on. Like he felt that he had failed. I always thought that Benedict was the real thing. In general Popes don't resign, they die.

Benedict's resignation was an extremely extraordinary event.

I think if he had known that Francis would be his successor he might have held out longer.

If the Cardinals and the Curia engineered this. And I don't know that they did, but if they did the Holy Spirit still resides in Benedict, not Francis.

That contradicts my Catechism teaching, that all Popes are infused with the Holy Spirit.

But I think I'm not the only one to believe that Pope Francis is unaffected by the Holy Spirit that still resides within Benedict.
