College or $70,000 a year? ... Talks about the dire need for young aircraft mechanics to replace the tsunami of those retiring.

Miss Marple (the real one)

Thank you for that Fox essay. Very helpful!

Both of those essays about the funeral and its significance were good.

Great minds Capn. My wife just handed me an ESSAY called OMERTA by Roberto de Mattei, 10 seconds before your post.

While the no-goodniks verbally beat up on President Trump at the funerals...the politician that had THIS to say about Americans was sitting in the congregation:

Hillary Clinton describing Americans at a fundraiser in NY - “You know, just to be grossly generalist, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic — you name it."
“Now some of these folks, they are irredeemable, but thankfully they are not America."

Hillary Clinton TV interview - "If I were to be grossly generalistic I'd say you can take Trump supporters & put them in two big baskets.
They are what I call "the deplorables" [laughing] Ya know, the racists & the haters..."

matt - deplore me if you must

Three weeks ago the Italian media were having a field day with stories of gay orgies at the Vatican and then came the Vigano bombshell and the Pope has been silent.

This to me can only indicate that Satan is afoot and that Francis bears culpability. This is beyond serious.

That he has been completely silent on the matter only worsens the situation. Bocaccio and Chaucer used to mock the clergy for their decadence, but we are finding the same predatory practices hundreds of years later.

I know a lot of outstanding clergy, but I also know many who do not meet the grade. Some of them do Herculean work and others never seem to be around. It is a weird dynamic. I think it is time to clean house even if we lose 20-30% of the clergy.

Faithfulness and right conduct are absolutes. Maybe you are gay or heterosexual, but the vow of right conduct is inviolable.

I hope it’s a long time off, but it would be appropriate for President Trump to exclude former presidents from his state funeral.

"Why the speculating?"

We're all waiting to find out if doom is approaching. Our fate is hanging by what appears to be a very slim thread.

How many here or on the ledge or on the veranda have declared "It's time to end this now already!"

So people peer into the future looking for hints and signs to avoid the sword of Damocles.

Jack,I had to laugh when you commented that Frederick knew the lyrics to Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire." The daughter wrote a short essay for every lyric in the song when she was about Frederick's age. (10th grade). I think it was for a history class.

I would take the Delores and go back to the day before Mueller was appointed.

The Pope calls for "silence and prayer."

i have a lot of questions. maybe i'm thinking too much. and i've been encouraged by my Pastor to continue to pray about these questions. my "anchu" (teacher, not my Pastor) asked me to consider asking "where are these questions coming from and what does each 'want with you?' ")

Why a call for silence? Why not call for silent reflection IN prayer?

this isn't a petty objection over semantics.

"Silence" is a weapon in this instance.

Yes, The Pope is the ultimate authority of the Roman Catholic Church. However, "quiet reflection" is being buried--- publicly- under a call for "silence."

A call for "examination of conscience" would be more in line with prayer as it is a form of prayer, a process in which every Catholic may engage freely without oversight or seemingly dogmatic imperatives.

but "silence"?

i do not trust that directive coming from a mortal who's being confronted with hard truths coming from one of his elders.

what degree of silence is expected? does it mandate "recusal" of his adversaries?

i have a lot of questions.

Now that's something to think about Caro!

N.Y. Times Throws Up a Smokescreen for Bruce Ohr - American Greatness

If this weekend’s bombshell story in the New York Times is to be believed, the nation’s top law enforcement agency under Barack Obama was not only corrupt, it was really dumb, too.

In an effort to get ahead of the release of Bruce Ohr’s private congressional testimony—which undoubtedly will include more stunning details about the depth of his relationship with a paid political operative from another country—and mitigate the damage from Ohr’s recently released emails, the Times is already working to cover the Justice Department official’s tracks.

Trump won't exclude anyone from his funeral. He's a much bigger person than the likes of McCain and history will confirm that.

From the link about McCain and Cuba:

"...“They (Hemingway and his chums) got out, set up chairs and took out the drinks, as if they were going to watch the sunset. Soon, a truck arrived with the trussed up victims and the firing squads got busy as Hemingway sipped his Daiquiris…”

Kevlar Kid

truth be told (sorry if that inspires a PTSD response :D) i would welcome the opportunity to assist the Pontiff were he to bend and enter our sweat lodge for some cleansing and purification.

he'd find many practicing Catholics inside who recite the "Our Father" and say the Rosary while enduring the pain and suffering of a sweat.

and as he crawls out of that 2 hour ceremony, where he'd hear out loud prayers, and feel silent prayers of all of us in the Circle, he'd have experienced a different path to Truth.

i suggest this because it appears to me from within my small spiritual foxhole, living with a lot of capital E Evil in this world around me, the Pontiff is not wrestling with Evil--- he is attempting to control it.

THAT is the essence of liberation theology and some of the other usual suspects who do the bidding of capital E Evil in the world.

The Pontiff will create the opposite result of Christ's intentions for HIS CHURCH.

just how it goes when these "annointed" types believe they are the ultimate arbiters of Capital T Truth.

let the defrocking begin with him--- in his own mind. "Forgive me, Father, for I HAVE SINNED."

i've never witnessed the consistent demonstration of the important virtue of humility in this Pope. ever. he's media-driven and political in his countenance. keep bodies in pews and collection plates full using popular words and causes.

spinning and reaping i call it.

that's just me.

Trump will exclude John McCain from his funeral.

Just saw this article linked on Twitter. I’m not Catholic so don’t follow papal politics. Is this the main reason why Pope Benedict got sacked?

It would seem to be, yet they blamed him for the problem, of course anyone in the hierarchy had some responsibilty.

Kevlar Kid

Tom R:

Making lemonade out of lemons isn't thinking outside a box.

This "outside the box" conjecture merely supports a self-serving premise which, with great frequency, is suggested here on JOM: Mueller *might* be working FOR DJT, because he is supplying the lemons.

The tweeter would be thinking outside the box, in my estimation, had he concerned himself with offering deeper thought on the specifics re the unconstitutionality of the entire crisis being managed by Mr. Mueller.

if we can agree that Mueller is harming us, the electors of a President, then there is NO WAY to conjecture the President isn't being harmed.

the power of this Presidency is that it is, for the first time in a long time, an extension of OUR belief in the Constitution as the basis for the rule of law and our integrity as a Nation true to our founding.

Saying Mr. Mueller hasn't harmed POTUS is something an imprisoned mind would say from "the inside", knowing full well that outside the box means outside the confines of our jailers--- the Cabal and it's agents.

Yes it's patently clear, that Mueller is working for other powers, interests not in America's service.

Captain Hate

Mueller has hurt the country and the concept of laws being applied equally. Jeff Sessions and his out of control politicized DOJ has facilitated this.

That song came out in 1989,so the daughter was in middle school.

I printed the Ricochet article that Clarice linked in her Pieces yesterday. I'm going to bring in to my mother-in-law when we visit her next week-end. Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois, the second-ranking Democrat in the Senate and also a member of the Judiciary Committee, said on "FOX News Sunday" that they’d be lucky to see six percent of all the documents out there.

eulogize the ex-president as one who was an extension of our national soul. eulogize the son, the father, the husband, the man who BECAME and who endured the office.... but leave the politician's profile at the door.

why eulogize hell on earth?

Many nuns I know had a hard time seeing it with Pope Benedict.
My understanding of the term silence is false stories circulated and people who do not share or know the faith spreading innuendo and falsehoods.
Our priest on Sunday said to write to our bishops and the Pope to express our concerns.
He received applause after his sermon.I reiterate again how the Pope Che reference offends.

Last post on this matter until I have much more truthful information.

I have done the same thing with Frederick, using "We Didn't Start The Fire" as timeline history of post WW2. Here is a neat take on the song by choosing the Top 100 of the references.

As i noted before, Billy wrote it during his 40th year, spanning 1949-1989.

This post is in response to an inquiry regarding an organization of nuns.
During Pope Benedict’s reign he wanted all the religious orders investigated including all the nuns.
This group was the one helping with the review and also with the projections of the future of the different orders.

When we dropped Frederick off at Canterbury we stayed in The Homestead, a B&B inn, near the campus in New Milford. One of their bedrooms is the Kennedy room, where Papa Joe and young JFK stayed during his arrival at Canterbury for 8th grade. He didn't last long at Canterbury since he had an appedectomy while there.

When we go back on the 7th, we are staying in the Kennedy Suite:) There is no longer first and/or second form at Canterbury. And it is now coed.

Good Morning!

Finished up last night by reading the Somerset Maugham short story, The Outstation. (Thank goodness this link allows you to increase the font size.)

An excellent read. Thanks, Catsmeat! While reading it I was wondering how he described the characteristics of the 2 characters so well and thought I'd never have been able to have done anything like that, but upon finishing and reflecting it struck me that he had probably met those characters, or amalgamations of their characters, while rubbing noses with those types in his travels around Singapore. The incident culminating in the story's end, or a very similar incident, probably also happened, so with my eyes shut and under the covers I concluded, "So that's how he done it!" Well done. Haven't read much of his by the way but i've done "The Razor's Edge" a few times and always really liked that.

I also see that my Dennis Prager iPhone link did not go through so here it is again: Explaining the Left, Part III: Leftism as Secular Religion It was great to hear Dennis reading than while peddling and sweating, since he is so calm and logical.

Led by the Pope. He is the most anti-Catholic pope we have ever had. More Catholics have left the church under his leadership than any other pope. I, my wife, my son, are hanging on by a thread. your pettiness won't keep me, a practicing Roman Catholic, from saying what i have concluded is part of this process.

if *you decide* to take offense at any dissenting opinion, even those submitted here with respect to the Word of God and His Obedient Son, then it is you who is casting the stone.

i won't assign a motive to you. but suffice to say, the more "rank" practicing Catholic laity have within the Realm--- the more likely they are to put their heel in the face of those who they characterize as trying to rise to the level of the ranked.

this kind of stuff is as old as the Church of Men. and "We" are under no obligation to tolerate it or to be silenced with coercive thinking by the "ranked" as to how our thoughts and prayers are "offending."

self-labeled martyrdom is the stuff of humans with their hands at 10 and 2 at the helm of a religious code. sound familiar?

“Do you think God is pleased with Pope Francis? “
The following is an 900 word answer. :D

That’s a question easily answered, TLG. And I’m glad seeing it raised. As I was taught, God doesn’t function within such concerns.

Going in, let me say this about “easily answered”---- it’s easy for me to express the complexity *easily*, after decades of study, life outside the psychological control of clergy, and going the extra mile to have my first Catholic marriage annulled.

There is The Great Law of Cause and Effect. Nothing else. Pope Francis lives subject to that same Great Law as every other two-legged on Earth. Gravity isn’t suspended because the Pope decides to climb a ladder in flip flops on any given day.

This comment about ladders, flip flops and gravity isn’t made with snark or rebuke. It is made for the sake of illustrating how we humans can continue to live in deviation from the Great Law even though we may use the Holy Bible (rules for living) as a reknowned and credible guide.

Pope Francis’ entire run as “pope” is predicated on EFFECTS inspired from as long ago as the very founding of the Roman Catholic Church, and as recently as yesterday’s news. The Pope is bound by the very same imperative by which bind ever one of us whether circumstances be of triumph or crisis.

What this comes down to for the Pope and for us: it’s what he/we do next that matters most.

Will Pope Francis continue to rely on the words of liberation theologians, and any other ideological influences he has put into play during his tenure?

Or will the Pope of the Roman Catholic Church walk the walk ON EVERY SINGLE MATTER affecting the lives of his flock.

The flock comes first.

To ignore that priority, feigning empathy for ALL OF HUMANITY, is to invite globalist thinking to replace original intent. (Borders and boundaries exist for the purpose of defining INTEGRITY and its benchmarks.

All are welcome but there are conformities which must be expected and enforced. Sound familiar?

The Great Law is imbued over all of human creations. It is over-arching the power greater than ourselves. It doesn’t need to legislate. It doesn’t need to regulate.)

When human beings ignore the Great Law of Cause and Effect, we are rewarded or experience consequences not of our living. Even some rewards may have a bitter taste.

So, the briefest answer to the question is what is pleasing to God was stated in teaching parables by perhaps the greatest expert on the Great Law the world has ever experienced… Jesus the Nazarene, “the Word made flesh”.

If mortals choose to act contrary to those prescriptions--- which are clear to those who seek understanding of them--- then our lives will naturally be pleasing to us, affording us a life in alignment with the force of God--- a life free from sin (misalignment).

Otherwise we are deifying some super-human profile that we must please, or be judged.

This is perhaps the greatest failing of so many “Catholic teachers” across many parishes in these United States.

I AM is beyond “PLEASING BY HUMANS.” Who am I to “please God.” I exist to learn how to obey the Great Law of Cause and Effect, to live in alignment, to be open to the revelation of mysteries of living here, a place that I chose to come to for the sake of reflecting the Infinite back unto itself.

To live the false, and intensely egoistic, mission of “pleasing God” sets up the false path of “techniquing” our way to God. Technique is what the Church of Men is steeped in to a fault. Yes there are proper ways to give homage to the Great I AM. But the trappings of some prescribed ways are out of synch with the Great Law of Cause and Effect.

The opposite of the intended result, to elevate humanity above its wretched debauched state, is being realized before us in this present crisis.

Why? Because the evil of men has preoccupied the flock with “technique” which mystifies the process of sanctification and its attendant miracles of salvation.

“Look! Over there!” Meanwhile, the human Pope must concern himself with how to “save the Church”--- much like the Mother in a family who endures abuse for the sake of her children having a family life.

One of the many interpretations of why Jesus the Nazarene staged a mau-mau against the moneychangers at the Temple was to flush out the abuse which was rationalized for the sake of the gatekeepers in the name of Yaweh.

God will exist eternally without having to judge me as pleasing or not. I am subject to His Great Law; for God to have to be subject to an effect He would be prone to JUDGE is subjecting God to the Human Plight, our Frailty, our purpose as human beings living a spiritual experience. That would be beneath Him.

Pope Francis is betraying himself and his Church.
I hope these words come across with reverence to believers here on JOM. I have no idea the impact they will have.

So my intent is clear in closing: to offer some fractal of illumination of a seemingly overwhelming problem that will only be “washed away by tears” of the faithful. (To be taken metaphorically, of course.)

Thanks for reading.

Miss Marple (the real one)

Captain Hate,

He does have Parkinson's, but when he put sanctions on McCerrick and McCerrick ignored them, it became appernt to him he couldn't control the bishops and cardinals, so stepped down in order to allow someone stronger to take charge.

So Pope Francis came in and instead of controlling McKerrick, he lifted the sanctions. Pffft.

That is one account I read, and it could be speculation, gossip, or truth. I have no way of knowing.

the Pope could have posted that comment and i'd still take exception to it.

Given the process is rife with the heathen politicking of practicing sodomites, pederasts, and sexual perverts, the Holy Spirit hasn't been present since before the Council of Nicea.

Not a one of those heathens are about living a life in quest of forgiveness of themselves or of those whom they believed have transgressed against them. they are living violations of "The Lord's Prayer." no judgement--- just a fact.

Pope Francis--- the man acting as pope--- has been snared by his liberation theology precepts into the role of enabler.

Miss M - I was heartened to read that Pope Benedict personally responded and said he had indeed given directives to end and to deal with McCarrick's misdeeds.

Watching Pope John Paul II wither slowly to the point of death may have let Benedict see that that might not always be good for the Church. Look at those who were waiting for a chance to initiate progressive goals.

Kevlar Kid

Hope you don't mind me citing Romans 1 here, narciso.

But it was a salient point you bring to the fore:

"18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.

24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.
