Jim Eagle

Knock, Knock

Who's there?

Me, Number One!

Crumple talking about characterassassination, that's rich, however it seems the officer was one toke over the line,

"Seriously - you can't imagine I was nicknamed "The Tinman" for my grace and agility? If I had a nickel for every time one of my friends called for Dorothy and her oil can..."

Oh, my! Wish today's comedians were as witty as Mr. Maguire. A little intelligence would help them, too.

Jim Eagle

Full disclosure: I have in on a number of ocassions while traveling on business, used either a key or card on the wrong room door. It happens a lot to hotel guests, especially if there are two banks of elevators across from each other. You first went to your room on the East elevator and turned west when you got to the hallway. Then sometime later you take the West elevator, and forgetting you end up turning west thinking you were on the East elevator.

That, and whether you've had more than one Martini:)

Hours earlier that evening, managers at the apartment complex had received complaints from residents that there was a strong smell of marijuana in the fourth-floor hallways

I guess super cop's correct floor and apartment also have strong smells of marijuana, otherwise maybe, just maybe, she may have had an inclination that she was at the wrong place at tbe wrong time.

Old Lurker

Boris, Other Thread:

"whatever their motives, cloak their Neverism in ideology, and call it true conservatism."

OK, I accept that change, Boris.

"Cloak their Neverism" is a lot different, in a Judas Goat fashion, than "ARE the ideological Right".

On the other side of the coin, while some Trump Supporters might not be, lots of them ARE of the ideological right.

Just as I accept that many who support Dems might not be Stalinist Communists, they enjoy going along for the ride. And that is right where I place Never Trumpers...along for the ride with the Dems.

answer the riddle of whether his door was ajar,

TM, did you see my door lock analysis on the previous shooting thread?

Old Lurker

Jack "That, and whether you've had more than one Martini:)"

Oh! That is why that happens to me much more often at 10PM and 10AM.

Just jumping to conclusions:

Jim Eagle

Going to interesting who gets molested by Joe at this shindig.

Beasts of England

There's a decent breeze on the water, but it's still a peach out there for mid-September. It doesn't get much better than an afternoon of boating followed by an evening of college football. If I could only work in a quick dove hunt... 😎

Here are my comments on the lock, TM. You had noted that "Per the arrest affidavit, which seems to be her version of events, the door was slightly ajar. When she pushed her key into the lock, the door opened."

The videos I linked support that scenario:

From the other shooting thread:

I hate linking this asshole but he does have a video of what the key looks like and how the lock operates.

This video show a similar lock and its operation. It seems that it can be left in the unlocked position:

This is from the manufacturer's site:

1″ deadbolt – lock via manual thumb turn from inside

The video at the King Tweet link only proves that the door will automatically shut. Not that is automatically locks.

The officer could have inserted her key twisted it and got nervous when there was no unlocking motor sound but the door was unlocked.

This video shows three different types of locks that the rfid key will operate when used in an apartment complex:

If the Dallas complex was set up similarly the officer would be able to go through any auto locking door and not the non-auto locking deadbolt.

I think the deceased left his door closed but unlocked.

I should have noted that the second lock in that video doesn't match the apartment lock that was shown in the King video. The third lock does.

I combined all my comments without their time stamps.

Tom Maguire
"Seriously - you can't imagine I was nicknamed "The Tinman" for my grace and agility? If I had a nickel for every time one of my friends called for Dorothy and her oil can..."

Thanks but I took that out as being too light-hearted. As best I recall, the full passage was:

Depending on how she is holding those items the floor and doormat might not be immediately visible. I myself can walk without looking at the floor, although its true that I have an unusual level of athleticism. Seriously - you can't imagine I was nicknamed "The Tinman" for my grace and agility? If I had a nickel for every time one of my friends called for Dorothy and her oil can...

Tom Maguire

OK, interesting about the locks, thanks.

"Cloak their Neverism" is a lot different, in a Judas Goat fashion, than "ARE the ideological Right"

Hey I like a good quibble.

Look, where the sides are Obama Left, NeverTrump, and Trump supporters ... it is NeverTrump laying CLAIM to ideological purity of "The Right".

So yeah, regarding those 3 players in the game, they ARE the ideological right team.

Miss Marple (the real one)

I don't know if this is a true story or not, but it sounds like President Trump's MO:

John Kerry should be arrested. (Sorry to change the subject)

I am just proud the spenser book discussion on the previous thread brought in a rare tm comment.

Not denying they became formulaic in the end. Somewhat like elizabeth george and patricia cornwell. The early spenser stuff is entertaining, especially when travelling or at the beach.

Michael (fpa P4F) ... Stop the Witch Hunt - Stop the Coup !

OGH - Uh-oh, someone is in big trouble now. :)
I would never have thought a Spenser reference would suffice to trigger you.

I always wondered why Parker had his protagonists take that turn of character - was he poking fun at himself/his own creations, or subtly commenting on a cultural change in the depiction of heroes?

Thankfully, his Jesse Stone character bore none of the signs of self-absorption/self-regard that Spenser and Hawk devolved to in the later books.

__ __ __ __ __

On the troll beat, meanwhile - if you have unsheathed the mighty ban hammer and used it to smite the toxic pollution that is ruining this wonderful experiment of yours, you have my undying thanks.

Was she blonde?

That is from 2015, Rocco.

Rocco, wake me up when anybody not on JOM gives a damn.

Thanks TK, my bad! I meant to post the latest on Benghazi in the Strozk/Page docs. It's in Fittons youtube at 35:20. So sorry!

Jim Eagle

LOL. Insty calls it "more a cruise ship navy".

So, that proves, Insty reads this blog very carefully.

Jim Eagle

Looks like Tinman has failed to lock out the vomitous one.

Good afternoon! Last night our nephew and his wife had their baby girl, three weeks early! My sister-in-law said she is perfect! They gave her a traditional name,so I'm pleased about that. One nephew and his wife had a baby in July and another nephew and his wife are due in early October. Their baby names are interesting. *eyeroll*

JMHanes, thank you for the text of the children's Progress--beautiful, I thought. And I've ordered the Ladder of Rickety Rungs!

Mr. Maguire, 12:32:

It's not that the officer and the shooting weren't sobering to me so I ignored the topic of the post, I guess my reaction to this shooting, like when the officer shot and killed the lady from Australia, is -- I will never know or understand how or why either horrible event happened. There seemed to be no explanation why a policeman would shoot and kill a woman who reports a crime and walks up to a police car. And, there doesn't seem to be a logical explanation to why that policewoman walked into someone else's apartment thinking it was hers and kills someone she says she thought was an intruder. Not making light of it at all.

Tom R

From TK’s Freeper thread...

The net effect of "The plan" is a calming effect on MAGA people who SHOULD BE mad as hell about the lack of support the President is getting from his AG.

I ignored the person after this. He is either ignorant or intentionally trying to deceive people regarding the “lack of support the President is getting from his AG”.

Since 100% of everything Q Anon posts are pro-Trump, anti-Democrat, anti-Swamp it makes me wonder why so many people are trying to discredit their posts?

Jim Eagle

Didn't someone, here, there, or somewhere, speculate that Q Anon was Sebastian Gorka, or am I imagining that?

Congrats Marlene.
When are you returning?

James D.

I totally missed the previous thread, which is just as well. There's no reason to expend even one nanosecond on anything Andrew Sullivan has to say on any subject.

I vaguely remember that, but I have lost track and it is sort of unsolvable.

Are you 100% certain that when DJT tweeted "Thanks Jeff" at the end of a message he wasn't expressing honest frustration at the DOJ indicting two GOP Congress critters just before the campaign season begins in earnest?

Kevlar Kid

Marlene: sounds like the harvest moon phase of your life is in full swing....descendants ROCK!

Congrats Marlene, I know what you mean about the names these days.

TK, burying this beneath the fold cause I screwed up! There's nothing new in that Judicial Watch youtube about Benghazi. It's a recap he did because of Obama's recent remarks about chalking it up to a conspiracy theory. The new stuff was about the Strozk/Page docs.

Hope I didn't waste your time.

Why is Joe DiGenova so certain Comey et al "are going down" for their criminal misuse of the FISC and the FISA warrant process?

Good Morning!

(Apologies if already posted)

Woodward: No Evidence Of Trump-Russia Collusion, I Searched For Two Years

In an interview with Hugh Hewitt on Friday, Bob Woodward said that in his two years of investigating for his new book, 'Fear,' he found no evidence of collusion or espionage between Trump and Russia. Woodward said he looked for it "hard" and yet turned up nothing.

Hewitt: Did you, Bob Woodward, hear anything in your research in your interviews that sounded like espionage or collusion?"

Woodward: "I did not, and of course, I looked for it, looked for it hard,"

Hewitt: "But you’ve seen no collusion?"

Woodward: "I have not."...

Hewitt: ...Very last question, Bob Woodward, I just want to confirm, at the end of two years of writing this book, this intensive effort, you saw no effort, you, personally, had no evidence of collusion or espionage by the President presented to you?"

Woodward: "That is correct."

Well therein lies the problem, if he hangs they hang together, I started looking at some of the likely candidates of the wannabe key stone coup, I think the big problem were all those al quads and Hezbollah auxiliaries that were given passports these last four years.

Re manafort, this fraternal exsanguinationd in the blood lands frame every likely event, the holomodor was followed by some of the gruesome elements of the holocaust, and because some like Bandera spoke out against the former, the us govt ignored the complicity in the latter, by Bandera

Jim Eagle

Some guy over at Rantburg has found the evidence on Kavanaugh's affair:

Tom R

No one has done more to support Trump’s MAGA agenda than Sessions. All anyone has to do to confirm that is look at all the policy initiatives and prosecutions that the Sessions-led DOJ have done in less than two years. The announcement this week that the DOJ is investigating the social media tech giants is IMO a mandatory requirement to weaken the control the Progressives have over indoctrinating the general public with misinformation. When someone claims Sessions isn’t supporting Trump my Bullshit Detector triggers and tells me they are either ignorant or trying to deceive people. YMMV.

matt - deplore me if you must

So now the media have their claws out for Mattis. It really disgusts me. They want so badly for the country to fail so that they can say "I told you so".

Where are lightning bolts when you need them.

And furthermore the likes of turchynovs svoboda seem not to habe learned noe to throw red flags. They were in the first maiden govt

They want so badly for the country to fail so that they can say "I told you so"

Nothing new about it either ... Vietnam, Iran, Iraq.

Captain Hate

Tom, that answers what you think about Sessions but it didn't answer my question. I'm not trying to be a prick by pointing that out. Sessions was given a huge job, probably the largest of any Cabinet member. I'm sure DJT can be a very demanding executive. I think it's possible that DJT could be pleased with the overall job the AG is doing but still find some specific areas to criticize.

Trump and supporters, as a group, in general are not ideological. NeverTrumpers, whatever their motives, cloak there Neverism in ideology, and call it true conservatism.

Dennis Prager mentioned on yesterday's Show that "NeverTrumpers believe themselves to be morally superior people to Trump" and that trumps everything about Trump in their cloisterd, selfish, view.

I missed much of his show except that comment but I believe he must have been riffing a bit off his latest column: Is the President a Bad Role Model for Children?

...So then, if I emphatically support the idea that adult men should seek to be models for younger men, how could I support a president who apparently isn’t?

The answer should be so obvious that I am disappointed all conservatives do not readily understand it. The role of the president of the United States is first and foremost to be a good president. If he (or she) is a personal role model, that is a lovely bonus — but it is only a bonus...

Usually whatever Dennis has been writing/thinking about emerges in his comments on his show.

I am not an economist, so a lot of this goes over my head.

I do think telling people to learn new skills and move across the country is pretty ridiculous when you are addressing a coal-miner from a small town in his 50's. Especially since training will be hard to get, and you are asking him to give up a family support group and a place his family has lived for generations.

However, I am unsure what a "business-friendly living wage" ism so I look askance at all of these people who offer swell new ideas.

Jim Eagle

No. Just that I have many times got off an elevator in a hotel either on the wrong floor or dis-oriented because of the one I took, went the wrong way and when the key or card didn't work realized it was the wrong room. I would be surprised that I am alone as a frequent traveller back in the day. One year I did 185K miles on United alone. They have a special club for you in their hubs for 100K members.

Now, I am lucky if I rack up more than 10K miles per year including our trips to Europe:)

BTW, getting off the wrong floor is due to not checking the keypad close enough. For example, one time in Houston, I got on an up elevator on the lobby floor that had come up from a lower level (maybe a garage). Without looking, I just pressed my floor (5) not realizing someone had pressed 4 by mistake when they wanted 7. It arrives at what I think is 5 but its actually 4. These things happen especially if you are tired, lack concentration or have one too many martinis:)

And Burnham was a trotskyite so he understood the difference, chambers meyer and company understood the difference as did ravines and other defectors.

Relinking this;
One Nation Under Xi? This is why Christian Persecution in China is Escalating.
Xi and China are at one of those inflection points all dictatorial governments especially communist ones face; allow the country to continue to gravitate toward freedom in an effort to let off steam but risk it flying out of control ala Gorbachev; or crush dissent and reimpose order even though it will eventually destroy much of what they were achieving. The one thing it will do is preserve and strengthen their power for a while longer; and in the end for a power hungry hack like Xi, that's all that matters.

Man Tran

Anyone trip over this cyber attack that apparently hit our military?

Kinda ties in with the OPM hack.

Here in the 1st District of NY State, Lee Zeldin is protecting his incumbency against a wall streeter cum socialist billionaire named Perrr Gershon. You read that correctly, billionaire hedge funder who is running as far to the left you can possibly get. And on Billionaires Row aka Meadow Lane where no property on the beach is appraised less than $25 million, there are Gershon signs.

They are socialists because they can be without consequence. Go to photos of the week at Powerline. They have a great side by side photo explanation.

Now that Frederick is at Canterbury, we probably will come down to the house for Christmas, and have him fly down from Hartford and join us. He's the best out of Siesta Key.

JMHanes, thank you for the text of the children's Progress--beautiful, I thought. And I've ordered the Ladder of Rickety Rungs!

Completely concur with Catsmeat. Those excerpts JMH posted from the "single syllable" Pilgrim's Progress is the first time that book sounded interesting enough to make me want to read it. And the Ladder or Rickety Rungs looked really interesting also, like covers of early "Mystery In Space" comics that I used to devour as a kid:

The only comment I have about your question is that no one, even Trump supporters, should ever take any of Trump’s tweets 100% literally. Knowing he routinely engages in deception, all you can assume is that Trump is promoting a narrative about Sessions that he wants people to believe for reasons we can only guess.

It seems my understanding that the officer had not been living in that building very long. I wonder if officers in apartments feel more vulnerable?

I will tell you that "Intruders Will Be Shot. Survivors Will Be Shot Again." Is a Mission Statement many places. And since the average woman gives up so much in a fight to an average man I imagine it might go double for them.

I just watched a shooting where a dude who was on probation and known to the cops who stopped him jumped out and shot the lady officer in the leg. Her partner shot him in the head over his car and came around and put one more shot in him.

At the end of his meeting with the Youth of Sicily today, Pope Francis refused to give the Pontifical Blessing, as not to offend the "many non-Catholic christians, those of other religions, and the agnostics" present.

Matthew 5:14-16:

You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Except for the non-catholic christians, the pagans, the agnostics and those of other reiigions. Nice job turning out the lights, Pope. It makes me wonder if the Church of England has offered Pope Che' a side job as Arch-Bishop of Canterbury.

Jim Eagle

The reason it was so easy for him to accept either Saint Thomas More or Canterbury is that most of his old Mercy friends live outside of Southampton. He is the only teen-ager south of Job's lane. You can find it on the map but there are no local teens for him that live in the Village. After Labor Day, we are a small village with the ocassional day tripper, or city people coming out on good weather weekends.

He is much more comfortable in Florida. Especially after the grueling load of Football and his academic load. I think he has more friends there locally than here. But thanks for your concern. He is playing his first scrimmage today. No streaming though.

Chronologies of Paul's life are approximate and debated by scholars. At some point around the year 59 he visited Syracuse where he preached - probably in the place where the paleo-Christian Church of Saint John was built. Whatever was said was expressed in Greek, the vernacular of Roman Sicily (where Latin was a second language). It is possible that a few Jews came to hear Paul talk, as there was a Jewish community at Syracuse. There was no subsequent "Letter of Paul to the Syracusans." However, there is no doubt that it was Paul who brought Christianity to Sicily, even though his stay in Syracuse lasted only three days before he departed for Reggio Calabria, Pozzuoli (near Naples) and then Rome.

So Apostle Paul brought Christianity to Sicily and Pope Francis removed Christianity from Sicily.

Don't get me started on Frank the Marxist. Everyone thinks Peronist means Marxist. No, it is more Fascist, like Mussolini Italy.

He is the product of a coup, led by Daneels of Belgium, and his leftist thinking clergy.
