Now polling suggests Dems will gain House seats, Reps will gain Senate seats.
Stark political divide points to a split decision in midterm elections
By Paul Kane The Washington Post Oct 13, 2018
WASHINGTON — The divide in American politics is so stark that analysts are beginning to predict something that seldom happens: One party could make big gains in the House while the other adds seats in the Senate.
Not since 1970 has a midterm election provided such a split verdict, and only two other presidential elections, in 1996 and 1972, have demonstrated such division in congressional elections.
Now, particularly after the contentious Senate confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, Democratic energy is up in the suburban districts that will determine the House majority — just as Republicans claim conservative voters have been jolted awake in rural states that will determine the Senate majority.
JiB! Be strong. Brother you're being played, they don't really care about you or respect you!

I was going to post this Guardian headline, just for the choice wording: "Trump attacks NBC over his remarks on civil war generals Lee and Grant." I do tend to give The Guardian a bit of slack, though, because of all the lefty outlets, at least they actually still do some decent reporting. In this case, although they characterized Trump's complaint as just "another shot in his uncivil war with the American media," they included enough context to make it clear that Trump's displeasure was warranted.

Speaking of The Guardian, things must be heating up, when they lead off with four separate Khashoggi related stories. Khashoggi’s fiancee says, "I will only visit Trump if he takes action." Here we go again! But never mind, that's excuse enough to post the photo, in which she looks rather like a guy in disguise.
Photograph -- Lefteris Pitarakis/AP
I read somewhere that Khashoggi's family has said they've never heard of her. I could be mistaken, but how do we know she really was his fiancee? Has anyone explained why she was waiting outside, rather than going in with Khashoggi? I was trying to remember why Khashoggi supposedly went into the embassy in the first place, but a first pass mostly turned up variations of his being "lured" back into Saudi clutches.

Posted by: jim nj | October 14, 2018 at 06:38 AM
True. But aside from radio station contests and Rolling Stone tickets and Occupy Wall Street the homed and unhomed don't have the right to camp on the sidewalk indefinitely. And do all the other things people that go camping do on the sidewalk, the courthouse steps or the green space.
I wasn't ever homeless but I was houseless in the dead of WY winter for about six weeks while working and going to school.

What must it be like to be almost literally holed up in the same place for 6 years? I began to wonder what his self-imposed incarceration digs might look like, and it turns out he basically spends his life in a single room:There's a glimpse of the actual interior in an article about it, written after his first 100 days. It's hard to worry too much about Election 2020 when the Dems top 2 contenders are Joe Biden, by a mile, and Bernie Sanders, in what's shaping up to be a regular gaggle of opposition hopefuls. Here's everyone who polled support of 1% or more on a CNN list of potential candidates:
33% Joe Biden
13% Bernie Sanders
9% Kamala Harris
8% Elizabeth Warren
5% Cory Booker
5% John Kerry
4% Michael Bloomberg
4% Beto O’Rourke
3% Eric Holder
2% (LA Mayor) Eric Garcetti
1% Attorney Michael Avenatti
1% Kirstin Gillibrand
1% Amy Klobuchar
1% Deval Patrick
Apparently, Bloomberg finally gave up on trying to persuade anyone he was a Republican. The guy has zero charisma, so I doubt his candidacy is going to go much further as a Democrat, but it would be interesting to hear a Bloomberg/Trump debate. All in all, I think that's one pathetic crowd of contenders.

Hillary alternates between angry rages and seemingly normal behavior and alway blames others for her defeats or illogical statements.
At times she seems depressed and angry about her situation.
She never accepts responsibility and she appears manic one day and the next consoling herself with wine and holding imaginary grudges. It may not be bipolar, but it is an undiagnosed mental illness. She also displays some paranoia in her statements” I knew they would never let me be president” and her right wing conspiracy theory after impeachment.

It seems pretty obvious why Trump's chances might have improved among men, specifically.
