Oh and first!

Thomas Collins

Late 90s Yankees are so 20th century.

But seriously, next year will be a challenge, since the Sox will probably lose Eovaldi and Kimbrel, and Sale doesn't look like a good bet for the playoffs any year. We'll know by tomorrow whether Price opts out.

I can never develop too much animus toward the Yankees. The first major league baseball games I saw live were at old Yankee Stadium with the monuments in the outfield playing area, not behind the field of play.

TM, the question is, WHO are the Yankees going to sign with all that money?

Machado really lowered himself in their eyes from what I read, and Harper (while still really good) is now nowhere near what everyone thought he'd be 2-3 years ago. He's not going to get the $500 million contract that Scott Boras has been dreaming of, not from anybody.

Millennials want an Oprah presidency: Poll

A recent survey found that, out of 20 celebrities that could be favorites in a presidential run, Oprah Winfrey is the most likely to be considered by Americans.

Winfrey earned almost 20 percent support in the survey, even though she shot down rumors earlier this year saying she would not be making a bid for president in 2020. Millennials were the largest age group to express their interest in a Winfrey run for president.

In the study by People Maven, the 20 celebrities considered were based on how widely recognized the celebrity is and if they were qualified to run for president.

The top three, Winfrey, Tom Hanks, and Dwayne Johnson, took 43 percent of the vote.

Paper Corrects Endorsement of NY Dem After Her Campaign Says She Doesn’t Support Gun Ban

The campaign of New York Democrat Tedra Cobb said on Monday that a Times Union editorial endorsing her misstated her support for a ban on so-called assault weapons, which the paper then corrected.

The Washington Free Beacon first reported in July that Cobb, who is running against Republican congresswoman Elise Stefanik in New York's 21st Congressional District, was recorded telling a small group of supporters that she supports a ban on certain rifles but couldn't publicly say so for fear of losing her election.

"When I was at this thing today, it was the first table I was at, a woman said, ‘How do you feel about assault rifles?' And I said they should be banned," she said in the video. "And I said, you know, people were getting up to go, to go get their lunch because it was a buffet, and I just said to her, I want you to know Cindy, I cannot say that."

When the woman pushed Cobb to speak publicly about her support for a ban on certain rifles, Cobb responded by saying she couldn't win if she did so.

Beto O'Rourke spends $18M on consultancy firm despite promising not to hire any consultants

The Democrat, who’s challenging incumbent Republican Sen. Ted Cruz in a high-stakes election, promised in the early stages of the race that he won’t be using campaign consultants to ensure he stays authentic to potential voters.

But recent FEC records show that O’Rourke’s campaign spent nearly $18 million on Screen Strategies Media in the last quarter.

The political consultancy company he hired claims to work “hand-in-hand with our clients to develop tailor-made media solutions that deliver their message to the right audience in the right place and at the right time.”

It boasts of several prominent Democratic candidates, including New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill and Montana Sen. Jon Tester. The firm also claims to provide “strategic communication-based results guided by analytic research and behavioral data.”

Maryrose, you had asked what I thought about Whiteys murdered and to be honest, I can't stop thinking about it. There's a serious security breach when an inmate can be wheeled to an area not covered by cameras, murdered by a group and not found by staff for a while.

But I think it was just a mob hit on a snitch, the eyes being gouged out is an old mafia warning to rats.

What I can't stop thinking about are all the offspring of these guys I had care and custody of. Names like Sperlinga, Martarano, Martini, and the only one from the Italian mob, Limone.

And I had a close call by a Winter Hill guy currently doing life for killing a Lowell bookie when I was assigned to watch a female at a local hospital. I wasn't told until the investigation that this bad guy was supposed to break her out of the hospital while I was watching her. I don't know why it never happened.

It is the word “but” that caught everyone’s attention — well, except for a national media that would already be using this gaffe to crucify Donnelly’s challenger, Republican Mike Braun, had he said anything close to the same.

In fact, with less than a week to go, and because Braun is creeping into the lead,, had the Republican said it, just as they did with Todd Akin’s dumb comment about rape in 2012, the national media would be crucifying the entire Republican Party senseless with it — forcing every GOP-er to answer for it as a means to damage the GOP nationally.

As of now, though, it looks as though the establishment media are in full cover up mode.

Italian Far-Left: Teen Raped and Murdered by Migrants Was ‘Lucky’

A Facebook page belonging to a far-left Italian group has said that 16-year-old Desirèe Mariottini was “lucky” after being drugged, raped, and murdered, allegedly by a group of migrants, because she’s seen as a victim.

The post, which was put up on the Potere al Popolo or “Power to the People” page, says that the murdered 16-year-old was “lucky” to be killed by migrants saying that there would not be as much outrage among regular Italians if her alleged killers were not migrants, Il Giornale reports.

“It highlights that there are no rights actually recognised for women, everything depends on those who hurt you,” the author, who is part of an “anti-racist” group said.

“Desirèe’s fortune is the tragedy of thousands of women abused and harassed by Italian men,” the author said and added, “Days pass and Desirèe gets more and more innocent: she was a junkie but now maybe they drugged her behind her back, indeed she was not even looking for drugs.”

To follow up from last night, learning what a room sounds like with Maggies in place is almost a curse. Everything else feels contrived in some way. Back in the day, a close buddy had a stacked pair of Quads that were pretty good. Even drove them with the Brit amps that were built for them (can’t recall their name). Still suffered ‘something’ that didn’t feel right. I’m wondering if my older ears would still be bothered — given that they were too ‘hashy’ on the top end.

The only other conventional speakers I enjoyed were the Martin Logans. They did a good job of matching response times of the electrostatics to the bottom end cones.

Wow, Scarborough unhinged?

“This last week, let’s just be really blunt about it, it’s why Republicans are scared of him right now. It’s been race. He’s been playing the racist card. He said, ‘I’m a nationalist.’ David Duke comes out the next day saying, ‘Thank you. Thank you so much for finally admitting that you’re a white nationalist.’ Then you have even some Republican back-benchers that are linking George Soros and these anti-Semitic threads to the caravan. You’ve got Fox News talking about smallpox and leprosy coming up,” Scarborough stated.

“I’m sorry. I won’t say specifically what regime this is out of, but go back and read your history books and look at some of the most abhorrent regimes in the 20th century,” he continued. “Might as well be certain countries talking about gypsies. It lines up historically exactly with what certain countries were talking about when they were talking about gypsies and Jews. Mika, that doesn’t play well in Peoria. That doesn’t play well in suburban Virginia. That doesn’t even play well in western Iowa. That’s why you have Republicans now distancing themselves from Donald Trump going to Pittsburgh, and the head of the NRCC distancing himself from a Republican who basically has identified with white nationalism in western Iowa, Steve King now, for far too long.”

Scarborough concluded that Trump’s presidency “is like Charlottesville every day,” a reference to the white nationalist rally in 2017 that turned violent.

I knew they'd be pissed about their dumb "nationalist" hit being turned around against them.
