Congrats to Red Sox Nation, their team, and their very capable front office. Weather reports indicate there will be no rain on their parade today; that will come next year when the Astros and/or Yankees take their turn meeting or exceeding expectations.
And in that "Wait'll next year" vein, 2019 should be at least as exciting as 2018, since the three above-mentioned teams are young, very deep, and (by Vegas Series odds) the three best teams in baseball. And having finally gotten under the salary cap and lightened their luxury tax penalty, the Yankees should be able to open their vast vault and wrest from the Sox the coveted "Best Team Money Can Buy" title.
Enjoy the parade, Beantown - don't get used to it.
WHILE WE'RE AT IT: That 11-3 playoff run against very good teams was impressive! Now go 11-0 next year and you've tied the 1998-99 Yankees 22-3 playoff record.
TM:
Happy for all Bostonians.

Late 90s Yankees are so 20th century.
But seriously, next year will be a challenge, since the Sox will probably lose Eovaldi and Kimbrel, and Sale doesn't look like a good bet for the playoffs any year. We'll know by tomorrow whether Price opts out.
I can never develop too much animus toward the Yankees. The first major league baseball games I saw live were at old Yankee Stadium with the monuments in the outfield playing area, not behind the field of play.

TM, the question is, WHO are the Yankees going to sign with all that money?
Machado really lowered himself in their eyes from what I read, and Harper (while still really good) is now nowhere near what everyone thought he'd be 2-3 years ago. He's not going to get the $500 million contract that Scott Boras has been dreaming of, not from anybody.

Maryrose, you had asked what I thought about Whiteys murdered and to be honest, I can't stop thinking about it. There's a serious security breach when an inmate can be wheeled to an area not covered by cameras, murdered by a group and not found by staff for a while.
But I think it was just a mob hit on a snitch, the eyes being gouged out is an old mafia warning to rats.
What I can't stop thinking about are all the offspring of these guys I had care and custody of. Names like Sperlinga, Martarano, Martini, and the only one from the Italian mob, Limone.
And I had a close call by a Winter Hill guy currently doing life for killing a Lowell bookie when I was assigned to watch a female at a local hospital. I wasn't told until the investigation that this bad guy was supposed to break her out of the hospital while I was watching her. I don't know why it never happened.

Or win 11 straight series, as the Yankees did from 1998-2001 (and it would have been 12 except for some of the most ridiculous, freakish, unGodly bad luck ever on a ball field, and the soulless mercenaries Schilling and Johnson renting themselves out to Arizona for a totally undeserved victory).

Drudge is pointing to a Politico exercise in reading between the lines that possibly has the White House battling Mueller in appeals court.
The keys to the story:
1) President Trump’s sole appointee to that court, Gregory Katsas, recused himself.
2) Jay Sekulow is involved

I first noticed her writing when I was only about 10 and she wrote a story about some amazing new machine from Italy called a Lamborghini Miura.

DrJ,
To follow up from last night, learning what a room sounds like with Maggies in place is almost a curse. Everything else feels contrived in some way. Back in the day, a close buddy had a stacked pair of Quads that were pretty good. Even drove them with the Brit amps that were built for them (can’t recall their name). Still suffered ‘something’ that didn’t feel right. I’m wondering if my older ears would still be bothered — given that they were too ‘hashy’ on the top end.
The only other conventional speakers I enjoyed were the Martin Logans. They did a good job of matching response times of the electrostatics to the bottom end cones.

--IM YOUR AUNT WHO LOVES A DOLLAR GENERAL DEAL--
That's funny. Just a couple of days ago I wondered to a friend if there is a People of Dollar General website like the People of Walmart ones.
A couple of weeks ago I went in to get some Welch's kool aid type powdered water flavors I can't find anywhere else and directly in front of me was some fidgeting, fuzzy haired dude in camo fatigues and tan boots. In front of him was a goth chick with a nose ring, black lipstick, a way short maroon dress, black fishnet stockings and a sour look and beyond her, at the register, one of those families that always reminds me of a small herd of rotund, even-toed ungulates grazing about the plains of Africa just before a pride of lions singles out the weaklings.
I of course would never be taken for any of those weirdos. :)

If we are talking postseason playoff records, let's not forget the 11-3 record of the Red Sox in 2004. I have to hand it to the Yankees: Anaheim and St. Louis accounted for zero percent of the losses, while the Yankees and Red Sox went 1-1, 2-2 and 3-3 until game seven. . . . Oh, wait!
