Have anyone specified the caravan's destination yet? It looks the hurricane is about 500 miles or so northwest of them, so I expect they could change course. That doesn't mean it couldn't be a serious mess, if Mexico is having to cope with major damage.

I'm several days behind, but just thought I'd make a note about twitter. I mostly read on twitter and click 'like' on tweets and forward good ones -- since I joined, maybe five years or so ago, I had picked up approx. 80 followers. (My sister has almost 5,000.) Anyway, I was so angry during the Kavanaugh hearings that I commented quite often and picked up about 20 or so followers. The last few days the caravan has really pissed me off, so when I forwarded someone's tweet, I usually added a snarky comment about the left or made up a hashtag #StopTheCaravan and used it. (Have no idea if there was one legitimate # like that going around. It popped in my head one night, and I started using it.) Anyway, this weekend, I picked up about 30 followers. Think this is interesting -- also, didn't get any 'liberal' sniping back.

The Central American caravan makes me so upset (reminds me of 2015/16 during the European migrant invasion from the ME) that I made up my mind I wasn't going to watch any news At. All. !!

So, when I open the laptop just now, NBC has a story headlining "Five Misconceptions About the Honduran Caravan Debunked" and there's another sympathetic one from CBS about the caravan.

My husband and I have discussed whether liberals would rally round the caravan. I'm afraid they're going to. The left has truly gone insane.

Trump's Merkel Moment -- and Ours

Three years ago, a horde of "migrants" from the Islamic ummah arrived suddenly in the Hungarian capital of Budapest, marching right through a sovereign nation without a care in the world. They were on their way to the promised lands of old Christendom, and the glittering, helpless welfare societies that tried to offer cradle-to-grave security but too late realized that it forgot the cradle part, and only had the grave to look forward to. Shortly thereafter, the Hungarians sealed their borders, built a fence, and enlisted other similarly minded countries in central Europe to join them in an adamant refusal to admit "migrants" masquerading as "refugees."

The Muslim army was raised and funded by unknown players, but it was welcomed by Angela Merkel, the worst German chancellor since you-know-who. With no personal stake in the future of her country, the childless Merkel was suddenly hailed as Mutti Merkel by her new charges, who then promptly went on a orgy of cultural enrichment that will end with the total collapse of Merkel's government and, hopefully, Merkelism itself. In retrospect, it's clear that the "migrant" horde should have been stopped at the Serbian or Hungarian borders and turned back by any means necessary; Europe is still facing the enormous consequences of Merkel's hideous error.

Now it's America's turn. Thousands of economic migrants -- they make no bones about it -- are heading our way, insouciantly traversing the basket-case failed state of Mexico on their trek to El Norte and boasting that there's no stopping them. The media, speaking for the Democrat party, acts as if this is some sort of natural phenomenon, like an earthquake or a hurricane, and the only "humane" thing to do is to accommodate them in America, no questions asked.

Luckily, President Trump is made of sterner stuff that either Merkel or the media. He's announced he's cutting back on aid to the three worst, most dysfunctional and violent countries in Central America (Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador), has demanded that our friends the Mexicans stop them before they reach Texas and Arizona, and has even threatened to use the U.S. military to prevent the migrants from crossing into American territory.

This caravan is energizing people who might not have cared about the election, and th modems support of it is driving people away from the dems.

I think the main thing is to detain or otherwise deal with them in Mexican territory, where they have no access to US courts. henry, your 5:39, confirms that we do live in an insane world. I never dreamed that in my lifetime that approx. 50% of Americans would be so brain damaged that they'd either welcome or sit back and watch as thousands of invaders march over our southern border. It really and truly makes me sick to my stomach. I felt sympathy for Europe a few summers ago, but this fouling of the real American dream does make me physically ill.

I don't want to say I can't watch it, because I don't want to be weak -- but I just don't think I can watch it and be the same person as I am today, if the illegals aren't stopped well and truly far away from our borders.

For one thing, it goes against every idea and principle of what countries are -- no country can give up its laws and protection of its borders. Last week I made a comment or tweet, can't remember which, where I said I thought we ought to open a narrow corridor guarded by the military for the illegal migrants to travel straight to Washington, D.C. Btw, I would have no issue with sending the military across the border, or even shooting some people, and I think we should have done it a long time ago. The decades-long invasion is an act of war perpetrated by the Mexican government, IMO.
