This has a round up of information, including the President's tweets, photos from Mexico, and an excellent video interview with Thomas Hoffman, the retired head if ICE.
There is additional information in the comments, if you have time to go through them.
I find I do not care what either Max Boot or Mikhail Gorbachev think about anything. I also note that the FuLL COMMIE hasn't paid attention to the fact that we have decided most of the conservative sites like NRO were nothing but money-making venues and we decided to ignore them.
The Trump Era has been very liberating for me. I can think for myself, do my own research, and sometimes align with people one wouldn't normally have dealt with in the old days, like the gay ambassador Richard Grenell, who is doing a stellar job in Germany.
Another Bob, if your MIL's husband was a veteran, and she is eligible for a veteran's pension, she might be eligible for assistance from the Veterans Aid & Attendance Benefit or Housebound benefit. Eligibility depends on income and assets.
Oh, BTW, to my lunch buddie on the First Coast of Florida, Happy Birthday to Narciso! Rethinking coming down for personal reasons. Who knows. Will work it out by November 6th since I need to vote.
(2018-10-06) — With conservative Judge Brett Kavanagh all but assured confirmation to the Supreme Court early Saturday, Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has reportedly agreed to become the ‘swing vote‘, replacing the retired Anthony Kennedy in that role.
“No one has lamented the loss of Kennedy’s swing vote more than the Left,” according to an unnamed veteran court watcher. “It would be hypocrisy to suggest that a Republican president is obligated to nominate a moderate. So, to show that she is above the political fray, Justice Ginsberg has agreed to set her own biases aside, and serve in that middle-of-the-road role.”
that may the plan. Thousands of vulnerable migrants without shelter, water or food, die or trap in global warming hurricane. A Twofer for Steyer and Soros.
Have anyone specified the caravan's destination yet? It looks the hurricane is about 500 miles or so northwest of them, so I expect they could change course. That doesn't mean it couldn't be a serious mess, if Mexico is having to cope with major damage.
I'm several days behind, but just thought I'd make a note about twitter. I mostly read on twitter and click 'like' on tweets and forward good ones -- since I joined, maybe five years or so ago, I had picked up approx. 80 followers. (My sister has almost 5,000.) Anyway, I was so angry during the Kavanaugh hearings that I commented quite often and picked up about 20 or so followers. The last few days the caravan has really pissed me off, so when I forwarded someone's tweet, I usually added a snarky comment about the left or made up a hashtag #StopTheCaravan and used it. (Have no idea if there was one legitimate # like that going around. It popped in my head one night, and I started using it.) Anyway, this weekend, I picked up about 30 followers. Think this is interesting -- also, didn't get any 'liberal' sniping back.
The Central American caravan makes me so upset (reminds me of 2015/16 during the European migrant invasion from the ME) that I made up my mind I wasn't going to watch any news At. All. !!
So, when I open the laptop just now, NBC has a story headlining "Five Misconceptions About the Honduran Caravan Debunked" and there's another sympathetic one from CBS about the caravan.
My husband and I have discussed whether liberals would rally round the caravan. I'm afraid they're going to. The left has truly gone insane.
I am surprised that some enterprising reporter or TV producer hasn't deployed a drone to follow them. Lots of anecdotal evidence they are being transported by vechicles along the way when no one is watching. Works for me.
JiB, I posted a link of migrantes illegales being loaded on trucks by vested coordinators at the end of the last thread... it’s making the twitter rounds (twitchy at al have picked it up).
Current estimates are around 10,000. However, the South American group is expected to hook up with an organized group of approximately 40,000 Mexicans in the next few days and reach the U.S. border near election week with well over 50k people total.
Three years ago, a horde of "migrants" from the Islamic ummah arrived suddenly in the Hungarian capital of Budapest, marching right through a sovereign nation without a care in the world. They were on their way to the promised lands of old Christendom, and the glittering, helpless welfare societies that tried to offer cradle-to-grave security but too late realized that it forgot the cradle part, and only had the grave to look forward to. Shortly thereafter, the Hungarians sealed their borders, built a fence, and enlisted other similarly minded countries in central Europe to join them in an adamant refusal to admit "migrants" masquerading as "refugees."
The Muslim army was raised and funded by unknown players, but it was welcomed by Angela Merkel, the worst German chancellor since you-know-who. With no personal stake in the future of her country, the childless Merkel was suddenly hailed as Mutti Merkel by her new charges, who then promptly went on a orgy of cultural enrichment that will end with the total collapse of Merkel's government and, hopefully, Merkelism itself. In retrospect, it's clear that the "migrant" horde should have been stopped at the Serbian or Hungarian borders and turned back by any means necessary; Europe is still facing the enormous consequences of Merkel's hideous error.
Now it's America's turn. Thousands of economic migrants -- they make no bones about it -- are heading our way, insouciantly traversing the basket-case failed state of Mexico on their trek to El Norte and boasting that there's no stopping them. The media, speaking for the Democrat party, acts as if this is some sort of natural phenomenon, like an earthquake or a hurricane, and the only "humane" thing to do is to accommodate them in America, no questions asked.
Luckily, President Trump is made of sterner stuff that either Merkel or the media. He's announced he's cutting back on aid to the three worst, most dysfunctional and violent countries in Central America (Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador), has demanded that our friends the Mexicans stop them before they reach Texas and Arizona, and has even threatened to use the U.S. military to prevent the migrants from crossing into American territory.
"No one is going to stop us, after all we've gone through," said 21-year-old Aaron Juarez, who was accompanied by his wife and baby and was walking with difficulty because of an injury.
Honduran farmer Edwin Geovanni Enamorado said he was forced to leave his country because of intimidation by racketeering gangs. "We are tired, but very happy, we are united and strong," he said.
Britany Hernandez added: "We have sunburn. We have blisters. But we got here. Our strength is greater than Trump's threats."
Are we sure Trump isn't paying for this caravan?
I mean to say, an invading army of 50,000 people shows up on our border, one of Trump's two or three main running points and one of great importance to a majority of Americans, in the week before the election?
Trump never seemed to be a big M&A guy but I'm starting to wonder if her acquired the Dem party at some point on the QT and is directing its every move.
Watching OReilly on NewsMax repeat.
He has Glenn Beck on who said he is most impressed with President Trump policy with Israel and moving the embassy.
OReilly still on his game in cutting through the nonsense and getting to the facts.
Thinking the same thing, Ig. He'll personally be at the border when things get hot, too. Defending the country.
I think the main thing is to detain or otherwise deal with them in Mexican territory, where they have no access to US courts. Sending the military across the border is the only way to do this, so how to do that has to be the first order of business. I'm sure Mattis and Pompeo have been tasked with this by now.
Beck says he wears the Trump hat now because he is doing what he promised.
Says the Left is completely unhinged.
On Kavanaugh, says he thinks Blowsy was on Xanax or tranquilizers while she was testifying.Something about her was disconnected.
henry, your 5:39, confirms that we do live in an insane world. I never dreamed that in my lifetime that approx. 50% of Americans would be so brain damaged that they'd either welcome or sit back and watch as thousands of invaders march over our southern border. It really and truly makes me sick to my stomach. I felt sympathy for Europe a few summers ago, but this fouling of the real American dream does make me physically ill.
I don't want to say I can't watch it, because I don't want to be weak -- but I just don't think I can watch it and be the same person as I am today, if the illegals aren't stopped well and truly far away from our borders.
For one thing, it goes against every idea and principle of what countries are -- no country can give up its laws and protection of its borders. I expect President Trump to fight it, but the evil of the left hopes to turn this into something far worse than a war with a foreign power. #StopTheMigrants. Better yet: #StopTheDemocrats.
I said I'd stop watching: When I saw them waving their country's flags and singing their anthems, I wanted to start a march of my own.
If we simply close the border and let nobody onto the property, why do we have to interview them and then play the amnesty if you can prove it game at all? Did China open the gates in their wall, allow the Hordes inside to be interviewed so that once they had one foot on Chinese land, they could use Chinese laws to stay in China? Didn't think so.
If sealing the border happens to mean zero trucks coming north with goods to sell get in, so what?...talk to the Mexican Government bout that. Ditto anybody else who might have been entering legally. Sorry, this gate is closed. Go look for another opening...
No, Extraneus, I didn't. I really have stuck to not watching TV news or reading much on the internet the past few days. Makes me too angry.
I want to go out and fight somebody. Preferably a weak, 80 year old Democrat or liberal, (man or woman, I don't care) just someone I can take down with a yoga kick. :)
'I cannot get my head around a midterm which increases the incumbent's hold on the Senate but takes control of the House away from him.'
I posted this over the weekend - not sure you saw it - it's interesting:
Every election since 1954 that the Republicans have added to their Senate majority, they've also added seats in the House. There are no exceptions found in that 64 year data set.
I agree that the two chambers should move largely in the same direction, but the political carve-outs (Gerrymandering) may be an explanation if or when they don't...
I suppose Mexico would not let us decorate 120 miles of their roads leading to our border, would they? We could call them "PSAs"
"The rebellion was crushed and, while Spartacus most likely died in the final battle, over 6,000 of his followers were captured and crucified by the order of Roman general and politician Marcus Licinius Crassus. Their bodies were hung on crosses along the 120-mile long Appian Way between Capua and Rome as a warning to any other who would attempt to..."
The caravan would need to fan out in order to avoid being easily stopped. Otherwise, once we get an idea of their point of attack, it should be simple enough to encircle them with barbed wire, on Mexican territory. No one needs to be killed unless they want to be.
I finally saw a Jim Renacci ad today blasting the Restraining Order for voting against Kavanaugh after his own well documented women problems. That's fine, Jim, but where were the ads up until now pointing out how Brown is so out of touch with the MAGA agenda which Ohioans voted for? There was a tailor made opportunity which was 100% squandered in true GOP Failure Theater fashion.
Last week I made a comment or tweet, can't remember which, where I said I thought we ought to open a narrow corridor guarded by the military for the illegal migrants to travel straight to Washington, D.C. Build a tent city for them as a ring around our capitol, and especially tents lining airport roads, so that our elected representatives have to see what they have created with their weakness as they try and leave town. Ground their personal helicopter trips to the private jets at the airports, too.
What a bunch of charlatans in our corridors of power.
This is a difficult work, as Schumann by this time was totally insane. Think of the late Beethoven piano works after Hammerklavaier. Deep, meaningful, and very difficult.
--I want to go out and fight somebody. Preferably a weak, 80 year old Democrat or liberal, (man or woman, I don't care) just someone I can take down with a yoga kick. :)--
Btw, I would have no issue with sending the military across the border, or even shooting some people, and I think we should have done it a long time ago. The decades-long invasion is an act of war perpetrated by the Mexican government, IMO. Just because the "migrants" aren't heavily armed or wearing uniforms doesn't change the fact that they're an invading army.
Ig - the only thing I can guess is that they'd like a riot or shooting that they could pin on Trump; playing up the fascist angle in the pre-election news cycle. I'm not sure that works, but it's a theoretical positive for the left.
Goodlatte said lawmakers will be permitted to view the classified version of the interview before an unclassified one is made public. The Virginia Republican added that he and Gowdy proposed the interview format.

2. Here are a bunch of criminals and possible terrorists who want to enter the country.
3. Looks like an invasion force.

Ignatz,
I am wondering if Trump has inserted Judas goats into the Dems.
They seem to be choosing the very policies which annoy average voters.

I posted this over the weekend - not sure you saw it - it's interesting:

Posted by: Extraneus | October 22, 2018 at 06:19 PM
How does this not work for Trump?
1. He stops them; he's the heroic defender of the realm.
2. They diffuse and make it across; WE NEED A WALL!

Close the border. Land sea, air. Freeze all funds transfers.
Mexico will fix it or collapse.
Posted by: henry | October 22, 2018 at 06:26 PM
Ig - the only thing I can guess is that they'd like a riot or shooting that they could pin on Trump; playing up the fascist angle in the pre-election news cycle. I'm not sure that works, but it's a theoretical positive for the left.
