The 414 page Senate report on their Kavanaugh investigation has some interesting dirt but honestly - two different guys came forward with a story that amounts to "I made out with some girl that might have been Ford". In the absence of a lot more investigatory work that won't be happening, those anecdotes won't change any minds. Particularly when we can see false accusations against Kavanaugh in the same report. Flash: some people come out of the woodwork and lie.
This follow-up to the Ramirez thing, OTOH, is a real headscratcher. One wonders how the media missed it, if all it took was perusing some yearbooks. [No, of course one does not wonder.]:
Mistaken Identity at Yale?
The report summarizes an interview with a Yale grad who said that a member of Kavanaugh’s fraternity -- who was not Kavanaugh -- had a reputation for exposing himself publicly.
The man was interviewed after Deborah Ramirez told the New Yorker that Kavanaugh had thrust his penis in her face when they were at Yale. She said she was drunk and wasn’t sure it was Kavanaugh until she thought about it for a week and spoke to her attorney. Kavanaugh vehemently denied her accusation.
The reports says the man, whose name was redacted, also provided a yearbook photo of the frat brother exposing himself.
The report says the man said he had personally witnessed the flasher expose himself at a party and that the flasher was in the same residential college as Ramirez.
Huh. Since I suggested it earlier, I have no problem with the notion that the guy who allegedly shouted out "Kavanaugh just flashed Ramirez" was the actual flasher. When we were young and flatulent that logic always applied - get in there quick with the 'false acc'.
Furtest?

TM, that does make sense. The idea that some guy enjoys flashing is odd, i hope that guy got help from the mental health people.
Posted by: henry | November 06, 2018 at 01:03 PM
We had a couple of flashers in my dorm complex. All it took were a few drinks and half a quaalude. And of course, everyone remembers flashers running across football fields in the 80s and 90s.
What that has to do with the Supreme Court is still a mystery, though, since they all probably grew out of it and became responsible citizens just like the rest of us former reprobates.

Voting looked pretty typical here, a steady line, not long, with only about a 5-10 minute wait between ballot and booth. If the vote total gets to 1,000 I'll consider it a banner day. It's more like to hover around 700, in a pretty solid Republican district, much to the annoyance of a couple of my ex-in-laws. I was thinking I had a lot of elderly neighbors. Then it struck me.
We had 7 referenda on (state) constitutional amendments, a trend I'm not enthusiastic about, when it comes to things like specifying tax rates! I did, however, vote yes on the amendment "protecting the right of the people to hunt, fish, and harvest wildlife." I'd have voted for one outlawing civil asset forfeiture, if it were on the menu. Unfortunately not.

Here in my county, we only had to state an address which matched the one in the registration record. I did vote for the amendment requiring photo-ID to vote in person, and another one which strengthened protection for victims and established certain victims' rights.

Had an unusual problem last night due to a main tank fuel gage going inoperative before engine start in Osaka. That mandated a procedure where I had to start all 3 engines, and then had to manually enter into the on board Flight Computer the suspected amount of gas on board. I did that, entering 217,300 lbs. Somehow that number did not migrate into the co-pilots slaved flight computer and after takeoff in cruise we discovered his computer thought there was 14,000 less pounds of gas on board, generating different airspeeds to fly. We had to verify which was correct and bias towards the proper airspeeds which happened to be mine. interesting detective work, and the split in airspeeds caused a large reduction in possible cruise speeds so flight was an extra 45 minutes long. Lot of head scratching going on but we got in safely.

My predictions are House: GOP 230, Senate: GOP 55 and the good guys win all the races in the JOM competition.
Someone play Devil's advocate and answer this question from the Democrat perspective. What factors are driving the Democrats enthusiasm to vote? If they are hardcore Marxist FULL COMMIE types then hatred of their country is an obvious factor. Aside from that I am having a hard time figuring out what other factors there are that are making Democrats enthusiastic voters this year. I would think the huge success of Trump's MAGA agenda especially in terms of economic performance would cause a sense of hopelessness/despair in the Democrats voters who know their policies can not create that level of prosperity.

Long polling lines at my workplace today.
I'm standing at a desk today watching hundreds of well-fed, presumably liberal, environmentally-minded Beto voters walk past a discarded campaign leaflet on the floor without even glancing at it, let alone picking it up.
Here's what's really funny: they opened our polling location to take some of the load off the other campus polling location. Our line is 1 hour and 40 minutes long. The other location has a 20 minute line.
But I'm not telling any of these goofs. LOL.

Sue,
It;'s not quite like other big cities.Marion County (Indianapolis) has nine townships. The center one (Center Township) is heavily democrat. The eight surrounding ones are more mixed, with 2 being 50-50 and 6 being majority Republican. For example, we had a GOP mayor a few years ago, and the current dem mayor only got in on Obama's coattails.
Early voting has been high all over the state, with registered GOP voters leading by a country mile.

He wanted to know if I voted for Braun. HA! As if I would have voted for Donnelly. Being as how he is on a campus he wasn't sure about things. He voted STRAIGHT REPUBLICAN!! Those years of babysitting paid off for me!
I gave him all the info I had on who was leading in the Senate, as he was nervous we would keep it (as I said, he's on a campus with crappy information).
Told him he could call me for updates, as I would be up late.
Known family vote totals so far:
Republican, me, 2 sisters, my son, my grandson, my Marine BIL: total 6
Democrat: daughter (if she makes it to the polling place today), 1 sister, brother & wife (union guy): total 4
