I was able to sign in using my Twitter account.

I just signed in after being signed out for a couple of days. Good Morning!

Another Bob

Good news. Hope this helps our situation (and gets people off the back of our host).

RSE, my list of election reforms:

Require proof of citizenship and residency.
Purge EVERYBODY and require reregistration every four years.
End “motor voter” NOW.
End early voting NOW.
Restore rigor to the process of obtaining an absentee ballot.
Move election days to weekends.

Give me some time I’d come up with a few more.

Another Bob

I would, however, expect some attempt by the local psychopath to force his way in.

Assuming that happens, can we agree among ourselves to NOT engage it AT ALL? This will allow killfile to so the most effective job for the most people.

Another Bob

Sign. Do I hate touchscreen keyboards.

OK TM, how about a comment-editing feature?

Oh, wait, what did I just say about getting off backs...

Miss Marple's 6:15 is part of the reason I stopped watching Rupert's Sunday Infotainment Hour, after seeing Rove pronounce multiple times that the Reagan Democrats were extinct and never coming back, with dummy Chris Wallace nodding along like a bobble head. The reason Rove said that was they weren't part of his client group to fleece. I knew GD well from driving through Mahoning County and just paying a moderate amount of attention to the paltry amount of reporting that wends it way here that what worked for Reagan would work for any other candidate willing to address their concerns with a conservative solution.

Captain Hate

Moar Willowed

Levin teed off on the Restraining Order for appearing in front of Al Sharpton's shakedown group, doing a pretty good imitation of the hoarse voiced goof. I want to again thank the Ohio GOP and their sad sack candidate, Jim Renacci, for doing next to nothing to remove that vermin from office at a particularly vulnerable time for him. I guess the ruling class Repukes figure Brown is someone they can live with.

Dammit, Frau, I was hoping to see you in the black dress and pink gloves!

Happy Anniversary!

So was I !!! A very happy day after to you and your guy.

Checking in...TM, the email link on the sidebar seems to be dead.

Frau...what a wonderful marriage you have. Congrats!

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

The White House is running very smoothly and the results for our Nation are obviously very good. We are the envy of the world. But anytime I even think about making changes, the FAKE NEWS MEDIA goes crazy, always seeking to make us look as bad as possible! Very dishonest!

Happy anniversary, Frau! xoxo

Tommy Thompson... socialist with an "R" label.

Jay Weber @JayWeber3

It is smart for Tony Evers to go to Tommy Thompson for counsel. He had to work in a split party situation, too, and can help find common ground. Thompson was also a big friend to the road builders and is already supporting a gas tax hike, setting the stage for one.

Monopoly for Millenials (it is a real thing):

"Forget real estate. You can't afford it anyway," reads the tagline to the board game that strikes a nerve every bit as much as it strikes the jugular, a game too real to be funny, which is exactly why it's so funny. "Adulting is hard. You deserve a break from the rat race," reads the box's back alongside a graphic of Uncle Pennybags taking a selfie.

Captain Hate,

On the last thread you were talking about how you were aware of the changing vote patterns, even though Karl Rove was clueless.

I am a Republican due to Ronald Reagan. I had voted democrat for Jimmy Carter (WHAT a mistake) and by the time Reagan ran I was fed up.

However, I have always been uncomfortable with Republicans like Eric Cantor and Mitt Romney, because I have watched jobs leave and knew things like NAFTA were not goof for the economy. Trump actually understands, so why this came as a big surprise to people that he won I have no idea.

I have always said that Karl Rove got lucky with being the consultant for W, who was a much more appealing candidate than Gore. If he had been a competent campaign manager, W shouldn't have had to go through that Florida mess.

We are very fortunate that Trump has natural political skills (albeit of a different sort from most politicians, which is to our advantage). I noriced that all of his campaign people are not from the usual groups of losers.

Another little thing I noticed was Trump saying Pelosi deserves to be Speaker. People forget that the Speaker is voted on by the whole House, not just the majority party. I will bet you cash money that he gets Jordan and the Freedom caucus to vote for Pelosi, keeping a more appealing and competent dem out of the Speaker position and causing all sorts of dissension in the dems. Plus Trump can say she is bipartisan and owes the GOP. Great needling position!

The inner workings of the Mueller investigation are a total mess. They have found no collusion and have gone absolutely nuts. They are screaming and shouting at people, horribly threatening them to come up with the answers they want. They are a disgrace to our Nation and don’t...

....care how many lives the ruin. These are Angry People, including the highly conflicted Bob Mueller, who worked for Obama for 8 years. They won’t even look at all of the bad acts and crimes on the other side. A TOTAL WITCH HUNT LIKE NO OTHER IN AMERICAN HISTORY!

clarice... the best bit is "and Nigerians"

Nothing in the cloud is safe. Anything can be hacked given time and incentive. All these GDPR and CA Data Privacy laws are like TSA... for show.

Hello all! Son of Marple here!

Y'all know Mom...we've talked about this place at length, and I'm glad to be here!

Not the smoothest/most seamless site in the world...but I'll figure it out. 😁

Interesting detail in that 2-part tweet of the President's. Screaming and yelling?

Is this panic? Why would they be panicking?

More than 12 hours after Michael Avenatti's arrest, President Trump hasn't tweeted about it. The guy has oodles of self-control when he wants to.

Hillary was "investigated" for that "matter" and laughed all the way to the bank. I'm waiting for indictments and trial of one of these crooks.

Michael R. Strain @MichaelRStrain

This is hilarious: "Cuomo defended the deal, arguing that New York has to offer incentives because of its comparatively high taxes." Cuomo: “It’s not a level playing field to begin with.” “All things being equal, if we do nothing, they’re going to Texas.”

Welcome Garden Gnerd, Garden Gnomes, and anyone else who can sneak past security.

So far, mostly so good. For anyone having problems, my correct email is:

Thank you, TM.

speaking of things which can be hacked via networks, the F35:

But whether we're talking about a home computer, phone, tablet, or a hugely expensive fighter jet, vulnerabilities add up the more you're connected with the outside world. Much of the's F-35's strength lies in its ability to connect to the wider military and harness big data about the mission.

The worldwide F-35 fleet is connected to at least two secure networks designed to maximize efficiency. The first is the Autonomic Logistics Information System, or ALIS, which keeps track of individual aircraft issues and the location of spare parts and equipment worldwide.

"Cumbersome, and we all feel vexed by it. But as we have seen, one undermedicated screaming boor can drown out a room full of conversation."

Thank you, TM!

The Amazon story reminds me that I saw a copy of the Indianapolis Star at the gas station a couple of days ago and the headline was that Indianapolis was in the finals for the Amazon HQ, "proving" that we are an attractive city for business.

I bet Governor Holcomb wasn't about to give too many financial concessions to Bezos, so I am very glad they are NOT coming here. I don't want a city run by Jeff Bezos, which is what would happen, given our photo-op dem mayor.

Welcome, GG!
Your Mom is quite a spark plug here, we all love to hear about your lunch get togethers with daddy too.

rse, thanks for posting that NewYorker story on the prior thread. I’ve watched Epic grow locally over the last 40 years. I live less than 1/4 mile from galactic HQ (looking at you Bori) and in my retirement my part time job let’s me interact with 100’s of medical professionals seeking certification. Epic’s growth is largely fueled by government mandated EMR.

Interesting note, for the first time in 13 years there are no large construction cranes on campus.

Let me see if this works.

It works with Twitter not typepad.

Speaking of hacking... your genome is hackable too:

“The takeaway is it doesn’t matter if you’ve been tested or not tested,” says Erlich, who is now the chief science officer at MyHeritage, the third largest consumer genetic provider behind 23andMe and Ancestry. “You can be identified because the databases already cover such large fractions of the US, at least for European ancestry.”

seems DC is getting flurries too.

This is the wintry scene in Washington, D.C. as the White House is blanketed in snow.

Happy Anniversary PLUS ONE, dearest Frau. Anya sends her best too! Love, Kev!

Acting AG Whitaker should ask Mueller for an interim public report.
Mueller has nothing and wants Trump to fire him so it will lead to impeachment hearings.
The Senate should then call Mueller up to testify and ask ... Dude, where is that collusion?”
When the public sees there is nothing, this will end quickly.

Thank you, TM!

Welcome Garden Gnerd!

Rain, rain, rain here in Georgia and this:

A split decision in a federal election lawsuit is giving both parties a reason to cheer.

It means more ballots will be counted but not as many as Democrats wanted.

Dems want to count until Valentine's day or until Stacey wins, whichever comes first!

Talk about a 1,000% improvement:

NOT an improvement! He doesn't heed to be bald with a goatee like Rick Wilson

It had been comfortably warm for a lengthy period this fall but it has suddenly chilled here in NorCal.
No snow, of course, but 40s overnight and frost on roofs.
Rain predicted next week.

This is a thread about how a lot of the GOP are not understanding the realignment of the parties (like the Salina Zito article posted earlier):

Ready for some hot blue on blue action?

Soros Responds To "Alarming" Facebook Exposé; Demands "Thorough Investigation"

Following a shocking exposé in the New York Times revealing how Facebook resorted to guerilla tactics to deflect blame amid their various scandals, including hiring Republican PR firm Definers which cast liberal critics as operatives for liberal financier George Soros, top representatives for the Hungarian-American billionaire have demanded answers.

While Facebook was under fire on Capitol Hill for allowing Russians to purchase advertising during and after the 2016 US election, liberal critics blamed the company for Hillary Clinton's loss - including activist protesters who put a public face on liberal opposition to the social media giant.

Defenders sought to discredit the activists by linking them to Soros.

Thanks for all you do to keep this place running, TM. And welcome MM's son.

Welcome garden gnerd.

Less speculation, more indictments. This is such bs without follow through:

🚨BREAKING🚨Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi has confirmed she believes there is “plenty of reasonable suspicion” for criminal activity in the investigation she ordered of election activity in Broward and Palm Beach County.

Patrick Gaspard, president of Soros's Open Society Foundations wrote to Sandberg: "I was shocked to learn from the New York Times that you and your colleagues at Facebook hired a Republican opposition research firm to stir up animus toward George Soros," adding: "As you know, there is a concerted right-wing effort the world over to demonize Mr. Soros and his foundations, which I lead—an effort which has contributed to death threats and the delivery of a pipe bomb to Mr. Soros’ home. You are no doubt also aware that much of this hateful and blatantly false and anti-Semitic information is spread via Facebook."
The notion that your company, at your direction, actively engaged in the same behavior to try to discredit people exercising their First Amendment rights to protest Facebook’s role in disseminating vile propaganda is frankly astonishing to me. It’s been disappointing to see how you have failed to monitor hate and misinformation on Facebook’s platform. To now learn that you are active in promoting these distortions is beyond the pale.

These efforts appear to have been part of a deliberate strategy to distract from the very real accountability problems your company continues to grapple with. This is reprehensible, and an offense to the core values Open Society seeks to advance. But at bottom, this is not about George Soros or the foundations. Your methods threaten the very values underpinning our democracy.

By the way, my son told me he got notice that his health insurance premium will DOUBLE at the first of the year, from $40 per paycheck to $80. It only covers him, too.

He called HR to ask if it was a typo. Nope.

Affordable are Act is gradually becoming UNaffordable.

I think this will be a serious campaign issue in 2020.

I was intrigued by some of the discussion last night about DNA, and Europeans being the ancestors of early Native Americans. This paragraph particularly caught my eye:

Here, geneticist Connie Muligan of the University of Gainesville described the discovery as ‘jaw-dropping’.

Ummmmmm . . . the University of Gainesville?

I keep telling my Nole friends, Gainesville *is* Florida. The Nordic folks apparently agree.

Gaspard was originally an aide to Obama, it's a chicken and egg question whether he came from soros.

That was Cheryl Sandberg's work, she of girls in tech sainthood, blaming her ally Soros to keep blame from herself. This is a fire fight that could use added gasoline to good effect.

Subsequently envoy to south africa.

Amazon gets an undisclosed break from the USPS. President Trump criticized this last year and everyone went to pearl-clutching.

He was right.

Correct your Iowaness! That is exactly what happened in WI after the Foxconn deal was signed. (The first profitable paper mill to go for freebies "or leave" is kicking around in the lame duck session. The legislature ain't buying Walker's proposed giveaways here).

David Burge @iowahawkblog

What did we learn today kids? By giving away the farm to land Amazon, New York incentivized every business in New York to threaten leaving unless they get a farm of their own.

The only “Collusion” is that of the Democrats with Russia and many others. Why didn’t the FBI take the Server from the DNC? They still don’t have it. Check out how biased Facebook, Google and Twitter are in favor of the Democrats. That’s the real Collusion!

Hello GG, I was a Trump hater until your mom and porch talked some sense into me. I've learned a lot from her.

Why can't Whitaker vacate the non disclosure agreement Robert Campbell, the FBI informant has? I think he can, another trump card to play?

Walker going all in on corporate / union extortion. They could take advantage of WI right to work and adjust work rules etc to be more profitable, but no. They found a sucker:

Governor Walker @GovWalker

There is no long-term solution other than the bill that will save these jobs. Leadership requires action and failure to act will lead to losing hundreds of really good paying jobs at Kimberly Clark.
