I don't think DJT was mentioned regarding anything Manafort was thought to be less than truthful about.

Correct CH... not that's public anyway.

It's funny watching the media turn it's focus to the massive subsidies GM gets for electric and self driving cars.

Trump has their number and they always fall for his tweets.

Captain Hate

I just interviewed a master's grad from my alma mater, generally considered top 5 or better in my field of engineering.

This candidate had taken no fewer than three soft headed courses in climate change BS.

This once fine institution is apparently now perfectly happy to treat those courses as worthy of their master's degree in engineering.

I actually hired him, but it's been an interesting pathway. We discussed, during the interview, the shortcomings of his education and the practical coursework he will need to audit in the coming two years. And i hired him at a lower salary as a result, and he accepted. I think he's actually got promise--it could not have been a fun thing to have blow up on you during the interview, and he not only handled it well but did all the necessary follow up steps to chart his new course.

So hopefully this ends well but I'm about to have a conversation with some professors at UT.

HOUSE REPUBLICANS BACK ANOTHER CARBON TAX BILL THAT’S BOUND TO FAIL

GOP Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania and Francis Rooney of Florida are to introduce a carbon tax bill on Tuesday alongside Florida Democratic Rep. Ted Deutch. The Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act, if passed, would slap a $15-per-metric-ton carbon fee on fossil fuel industries. While the bill has little chance of passing, it is intended to spark a debate over carbon pricing as the Democratic Party prepares to take over the lower chamber of Congress.

“More than a dozen federal agencies just warned us that if we don’t take dramatic action, climate change will knock 10 percent off of our GDP by the end of this century,” Deutch, the bill’s Democratic co-sponsor, stated to Bloomberg Environment. “Putting a price on carbon can help change the behavior of polluters. We hope our bipartisan bill will spur action on climate change before it’s too late.”

Hannity starts off with FISA talk and the lack of releases. He believes that the damning evidence will be withheld for two years because it will be more valuable in the 2020 election cycle.

His inside sources tell him that it will bring everyone down. They got the goods on all the swampsters. EARTH SHATTERING!!

He said it cannot come out under a Dem controlled House.

Part of my decision to limit my political comments stems from the reaction to my post election blues about the severity of having lost the House. Maybe 4D Part II, Wait & See Boogaloo will mature into fruition in 24 months. Maybe not.

BTW, has derwill signed up for the new JOM?

Obeying the law appears to be optional in SC anyway, so leak it and then pardon whoever leaked it.

Pinandpuller

He got Manafort for lying about Ukrainian Collusion right?

Old Lurker

Hannity is full of shit, TK.

There are not enough dimensions in the chess game to go where he wants us to go with that canard for the next two years.

As to your blues for having lost the House. That reality will land hard in January. We are in the denial phase right now as many don't accept that MAGA is dead and Trump will be tied in knots until he wonders why he volunteered for that job in the first place.

henry

Jane, my guess is both are fake news, hence the salt warning. Blast that nonsense, then up the visas while no one is looking. A classic move. Add Hannity going on the 2 yr extended "send money" game, another classic.

Old Lurker

James. I stand on my position that there never was anything there and we were all played.

It’s hardly out of the JEF’s community-organizing commie character to pull off something like leaning on Barra.

1) I think Hannity has become the biggest ratings whore on TV, take anything he says with a huge grain of salt.

2) Trump will be tied up in knots starting January, but he is going to make the next 2 years VERY entertaining.

lyle

And she’s undoubtedly a progtard in good commie standing.

Update on my tire. One of muy neighbors is part of the family who owns our local oil business, and has a car repair biz. He came over with his air bottle blew it back up so I could drive the little mile to the station and shop where he found a fully embedded 1/12" sheet metal screw on the inside tread of the tire. Able to plug it, and in checking the rest of the tires found them all underinflated.

Lesson learned to pass on, check those tire pressures every time you fill up. I have been driving so much back and forth to Canterbury I kept putting it off. Makes a big difference in ride comfort as well as mileage as TK will probably attest. Now I remember that I had gone on the beach one Sunday and forgot to reinflate at the air station. Getting old sucks!

Can you imagine Nixon with a twitter account during Watergate?

Threadkiller

I never take Hannity seriously but I do think his garbage spewing has a certain amount of unintended usefulness. I just wanted to point out how the loss of the House is being used as an excuse to not do anything.

MissMarple2

In that case you would have to let those people think they were immune, and wait for them to commit more crimes. Which many of them did.

I am only reporting. Old Lurker can mock at will, I don't care.

With Fox, I check Fox and Friends in the morning on YouTube to see breaking news.

Then I watch Tucker Carlson in the evening, and that's about it.

GUS

Hey Tom R. How are you!?

MissMarple2

Threadkiller,

I am exactly with you on that. I distinctly remember Brett Baier bragging on how heand the Magpie had been rehearsing debate questions for several days.

When she opened the first debate with that question, I knew that they had been rehearsing how to ambush Trump.

That was the end of me watching Baier or almost anything else except for what I mentioned above.

Narciso79

You are the stealth edit, the grauniad did.

Tom R

You keep trying to best me for some reason. Are you jealous of me?

I don't think tracybeanz posts here so I'm just curious why you keep trying to insult her. I have linked to her in the past regarding her discovery of the link between Felix Sater and Michael Cohen and how that opened up the door for Mueller to go after Cohen. She got that right. What has she posted that causes you to keep insulting her?

Tom R

Hey Tom R. How are you!?

Doing great thanks for asking. Red Sox are World Series champs, Bama looks unstoppable right now and my son got another college baseball offer this week. God is great.

James D.

If the GOP controlled House could not force the Trump-controlled DOJ/FBI to cooperate with its investigations, what makes you think the Democrat-controlled House is going to cause any problems?

Because DoJ and FBI are not Trump controlled and never have been. That’s been a big part of the problem all along!

The Dems in the House will have plenty of allies in the executive branch and among the GOPe to wreak havoc and ruin lives of loyal Trump appointees.

It’s the President and a tiny handful of appointees and maybe half (if that) of the congressional GOP contingent against all the Dems and the
Full MSM and the vast majority of the federal bureaucracy and the other half of the GOP congressional membership to boot. You’ll pardon me if I don’t feel good about those odds.

Old Lurker

Hannity sets the tone for one hard core subset of people who already support Trump. He will never cause a fence sitter to land on Trump's side of the fence, and he will do nothing for somebody like MM's daughter except solidify her hatred for Trump.

MM, I am not mocking anybody at all. I just happen to think the opportunity to make great changes has passed, and the historians can work out when the point of no return was passed. My guess is the goose was cooked when Clinton was not countered effectively, if it was not already cooked even then by the post 1960, certainly post 1970 public schools then colleges. Trump brought us hope that that was land on the horizon but alas it was just a storm cloud.

I will grant that there are around 60 million of us who thought it could be saved and that Trump might be the one leader who just might pull it off, but that leaves 250 million who don't want it to change, or want it to change for the worse, or simply don't care. Those 60 million can fill all the rallies between now and 2020 but in the end, they will be but 60 million and key states will be newly gone.

Tom R

Because DoJ and FBI are not Trump controlled and never have been. That’s been a big part of the problem all along!

Thoroughly disagree. For your assumption to be correct implies Trump screwed up and hired/appointed the wrong people and to make matters worse allowed them to get away with aiding and abetting the Swamp/Deep State to undermine his presidency.

Narciso79

Do you trust Nunes, I think he's proven himself, but there is this minefield I speak of, he survived in the central valley which seems more hospitable than orange county,

Jim Eagle

I have been busy today, unsubscribing, then deleting over 30 emails begging for money on Giving Tuesday. More to come before midnight no doubt. We only do 3 national charities (Salvation Army, Marine Corp Toys for Tots, and Wounded Warrior) plus a couple here in NY and Florida. But those aren't the ones begging. So, it makes me pissed that the ones we give to are sharing mailing lists with all the others. I feel like not giving at all this year.

Also, when you decide to spend the bucks to put your kid in a private boarding school, the tuition is only a down payment. Seems like every month the hat is passed around.

Waiting for OL to chime in on this.

James D.

President Trump did hire the wrong person - Jeff Sessions.

But it’s not just dhonTrimpnhoted. DoJ and FBI are corrupt from top to bottom. Probably 90% of the staff at every level are hardcore progs, and the same is true at just about every federal agency.

Old Lurker

"For your assumption to be correct implies Trump screwed up and hired/appointed the wrong people and to make matters worse allowed them to get away with aiding and abetting the Swamp/Deep State to undermine his presidency."

That works for me.

James D.

“Who trump hired”

Old Lurker

Jack "Also, when you decide to spend the bucks to put your kid in a private boarding school, the tuition is only a down payment. Seems like every month the hat is passed around."

I read your post last night to Mrs. OL and we both laughed about your $15M match gift "opportunity". She laughed as did I, and reminded me of my observation twenty years ago that the single best way to predict the imminent arrival of a new capital campaign was to see where Lurker Daughters had been admitted.

MissMarple2

Old Lurker,

Trump doesn't operate in the normal way, and he has surprised people with a lot of actions they didn't expect. I am going to come down on the side of him surprising you.

He has telegraphed a couple of things. One was his statement at a press availability on his way to Marine One, when he said that he would never forgive Obama for decimating the military, plus there were other things he would talk to them about later.

Second was the 3-part tweet this morning, which indicates to me he knows a lot about Mueller which isn't public yet, and that he is going to release information.

The FISA declassification has been held up due to objections by the UK and Australia. What if Trump decides they can go to hell and does so anyway?

I am having a martini and am quite content with how he is operating. I suggest you read that Daily Mail article with the interview he gave to Bosse and Lewandowski that I posted earlier today.

Do you think Obama and Hillary are smarter than Trump? I don't. You can sit on the ledge and preach doom and gloom, but I am looking forward to a lot of this stuff coming out.

Buckeye

Probably 90% of the staff at every level are hardcore progs, and the same is true at just about every federal agency.

Kinda like France during the rule of Louis XVI....until "regular guy" started chopping heads.

Jim Eagle

OL,

Its not like they don't have the Alums or parents who do this without a sweat but its idea that they want to be inclusive and have everyone participate so you can say some day, "I paid for that brick or window or door." I am all in favor of endownments, in fact I pushed our board to require each family to make a contribution to an endownment each year when I was President of the board in Florida. Fell on deaf and empty pocket ears.

Their travel budget is a big expense item. Going to China to recruit students, holding hospitality events in DC, NYC, LA, Denver, et. al. is expensive but it seems to work. And to be perfectly honest, what they want to do for this Student Center has me reaching for the check book. Just a beautiful concept, expecially its location on Campus.

Old Lurker

MM "Do you think Obama and Hillary are smarter than Trump?"

Your mistake is thinking this is Trump vs Obama & Clinton. Obama & Clinton are only figureheads for a vast global movement away from individual liberties and freedom (and the personal responsibility and consequences that demands) so that the cannon fodder of the masses can be leveraged by those who want to control everybody and thus all the global wealth. I keep stating that that motivation is as old as human history, is a product of human nature, and our two centuries were simply a random aberration in the course of the human experience.

MissMarple2

Jesse Kelly's Twitter account has been reinstated. If you followed him, you will have to re-follow.

I don't suppose this had anything to do with Congress hinting that Hack had committed perjury in his testimony earlier this year.

MissMarple2

Old Lurker

Manafort either has refused to continue to tell the lies that Mueller wants to hear; or has refused ever to tell the lies Mueller desires.

This latter day Inspector Javier will persist-say what he wants--or else; or simply "or else" if you refuse to answer.

Trump would be a fool to sit down with Mueller; Mueller has that old FBI habit of taking notes--with his version of what was said--which may or may not reflect what the interviewee actually said. Then if later the interviewee does not recall things exactly as recorded by Mueller, then he's a liar! If Trump deals with Mueller at all, it should be through written answers to written questions. That will throw Mueller off the old FBI game.

Narciso79

Dorsey, to make it clear, yes Sheridan was a Wiley strategist. They finally confirmed dreiband for head of civil rights division.

Old Lurker

Just to complete my noose...it matters not whether Trump can manage to squeak an electoral victory in 2020 if the general demographics remain as they are or get worse. So I for one will not pay any more attention to the day by day gritty details of this poll, or that move, or the next speculation. If all he has are 60 million, we all lose.

SBW will note that Cloward Piven wrote their paper in 1966, and that is partly why I mentioned 1960-70 above as the opening of the final act.

I agree with Tom that putting Corsi on trial could open some Pandoras boxes. He can be pretty nutty but he isn't dumb and knows a lot of inconvenient things.

Narciso79

Supposedly he pointed out the truth of the rank and file Confederate soldier, that's his Kelly triggered them.

Jim Eagle

OL,

One postive factor, at least for the next few years, is that there are now more older voters than young, millenial voters. You know, the ones who think Obama better than Washington. I think the vote s will count for at least the next election. After that?

Your guess is as good as mine.

I know there are still older folks who are brain dead already and will vote who ever the View says to vote for but I think Trump has at least another term in him if his energy keeps up.

Old Lurker

One on one, sure he is MM.

But he is just one man, as I have lamented many times.

I was thinking Narc has most likely already read it, but the new Jeffrey Archer "Heads You Win" has two good guys trying to save Russia from a thinly veiled rising Putin. One of the good guys runs a big bank and is going into a tricky negotiation with some Russians. He introduces his executive team and gets to his closet ally whom he calls "Mr. Downside".

I am your Mr. Downside, MM.

Still with you OL.

It isn’t and never has been a question of who’s smarter or knows more.

Very disappointed with General Motors and their CEO, Mary Barra, for closing plants in Ohio, Michigan and Maryland. Nothing being closed in Mexico & China. The U.S. saved General Motors, and this is the THANKS we get! We are now looking at cutting all @GM subsidies, including....

After reading about Nadler's priorities today, I'm even less pessimistic about the Dems taking the House than I was.

White nationalists?

Seems like a panic move based on Trump making headway with minorities, who probably roll their eyes at the term like we do.

Threadkiller

Nadler's choice seems like the ol' soundbite trap.

The GOPe will fall for it and start denouncing themselves of the ballots before the eyerolling minorities get a chance to vote for a Republican.

Threadkiller

...off the ballots...

Jim Eagle

Think about it.

Trump is the only non-politician elected as POTUS since when, Old Hickory? I don't think so. So, he is the only one. The ony one without a cadre of sneaky fuckers who know their way through the labyrinth known as The Swanp. He had not history, no people who knew how to navigate DC, no one he could trust who was political and had a past there.

That is one reason he surrounded himself with military. Mattis, Zinke, Kelly, et.al. Doen't take Bill Nye type intelligence to figure this out. He will not go quietly. Not right away but when it comes to fish or cut bait, he will.

Extraneus

Sadly, we've lost quite a few GOPe, TK. In return, we got Graham 2.0 and a bunch of other stiffened spines. And Romney in the Flake trade, of course.

Btw, did you guys see that Flake is still refusing to vote for judges until the Protect Mueller bill gets passed? (Which Trump would surely veto.)

I do not trust Graham 2.0.

Jim Eagle

Hell, I don't trust the 115th Congress. Why stop at Ms. Lindsay?

Tom R

Sadly, we've lost quite a few GOPe

I think Trump is counting that as an overall win in the midterms since successfully draining the Swamp includes weakening their political power.

boatbuilder

Still no Russians in sight in the endless Mueller investigation. Did Manafort tell Mueller that he would find some actual Russians for him as part of his plea agreement?

Tom R

I think most people here are under the belief that Manafort doesn't have any Russian collusion-related dirt on Trump and that the crimes he committed occurred long before he became Trump's campaign manager.

If that is the case AND assuming the reports are true that Manafort was caught lying to Mueller and violated his plea bargain, then the "lies" could be related to Manafort's business ties with the Podesta brothers and/or Oleg Derispaka, who are both bigger fish than Manafort.

henry

My guess, Manafort didn’t confirm today’s Guardian fiction, because it didn’t happen. That fiction was Mueller’s magic link to Russian hackers he already indicted with no evidence. I suspect Mueller is a tad miffed at being shown s clown instead of hero at the end of this movie.

Note, Schiff will keep pumping the “Muh Russians” til hell freezes over. Given a solar minimum instead of global warmening, that will be sooner than he expects.
