Miss Marple

Thisis also the 80th anniversary of Kristallnacht. This lady on Twitter came across some amazing photos which her father, who apparently was in military intelligence, left after his death. They were photos taken by Nazi photographers DURING Kristallnacht.

To my Jewish friends here, the photos of the destruction of synagogues is heart-wrenching.

I offer this thread as a reminder to all of us of how bigotry can escalate into great evil.

Old Lurker

MM re Kristallnacht.

Go back and read A-mom's 5:31 and tell me those pictures cannot be from our own future. Ask Tucker Carlson what he thinks.

Jane

Dumb question alert (with many more to follow): Is the link for trying to sign in on typepad on this blog?

Photo at link.

Porchlight

Jane, it's a hotlink just above the comment box.

Miss Marple

Ol Lurker,

Indeed. I am trying to imagine if I could be so angry that I would haul leftists out of their homes and send them to camps with their children. I don't believe so, but I like to remind myself from time to time to think about things like this when I become angry at the other side.

However, I notice on the comments to that thread that there are STILL people who have zero awareness of how similarly they are behaving in their zeal against President Trump. It's really frightening how easily they rationalize things like the attack on Tucker Carlson's home.

It will be interesting to see what happens as more is revealed about all of the corruption that has gone on. If you watched that press gaggle yesterday, the President is angry and on the warpath.

Gentlejim

Jane,
Go here: https://www.typepad.com
Hit the login link near top right. You’ll then have a “login” or “register” option.
I found I had an account from several years ago I’d brain-farted.
Good luck.

Porchlight

Thanks for the Trump in France links, MM.

Trump needs to keep tweeting about Florida and ideally with links to real local stories about what's going on because the MFM is embargoing the whole thing.

When do the police march in to stop this?

Extraneus

WTF is this $8.95 per month Typhus fee?

Pretty sure that's if you want to start your own blog. No fee to create a typepad login for commenting.

After getting a login, you can click on your name to go to the profile page, which allows uploading a pic for your avatar.

Gentlejim

Or what porchlight said. I didn’t have luck with that on iPhone.

Old Lurker

Same, mm.

Ralph L

Time heals all wounds but one
Two, for about half the people.

Miss Marple

Well, I had an account under my old email account. I cannot remember the password.

I will try to see if I can remember it.

Gentlejim

MM,
I’m ready to start calling the left Brown shirts or Sturmabteilung. They’ve earned it.

Long night, I should go to bed.

Behave

Extraneus

Btw, people worried about using their main email ID should just get a throwaway. Everyone should have one. I use mine for anonymously complaining, signing up for stuff like typepad logins, etc. No need to use your real name for stuff like that.

Porchlight

There should be a password reset link, MM.

Ralph L

When I click on the Typepad sign-in button, it won't accept the password Chrome saved for me. When I try to reset it, it says it's my Google + acct.

How do you register with Typepad without paying a fee? I went through the process until they offered demanded a 14 day free trial with a CCard no.

Old Lurker

Me too, Ext.

I figure the NSA has more dirt on my phony name than they need to send me to that reeducation camp MM worries about.

Heck. The Young Lurkers have told me several times they have enough already from JOM to get the court to appoint a guardian for Old Lurker have me committed. They promise it will be a nice place.

Miss Marple

Old Lurker,

That is why my daughter doesn't know who I talk to or what the site is. LOL!

Extraneus

You might need to log out from something first, Ralph, or delete typepad cookies.

Miss Marple

This is a great tweet. Video is at the link:

Our president is so racist he had no problem working alongside a black cleaning lady at his hotel, praising her and the other staff for all of their hard work.

This is one of my all-time favorite clips of Trump. I don’t believe any other POTUS has ever done something like this. pic.twitter.com/qFiCFwN9jt

Ah Hes the one that tracked avenattis connection to the princes.

Old Lurker

I know Gentlejim has gone to bed, but the one thing about calling the Left Brownshirts is that that is not exactly how these movements go. The Brownshirts were the early true believers that agreed to be Hitler's sharp point of the spear. They in turn recruited others by various means who could be made to "see" and who could then add their willing support to the movement, but then most of the rest allowed themselves to be caught up in the passions and came to believe in it to one degree or another.

We can name dozens of movements from all of history that involves a Brownshirt component in the early phases. This crop was at Tucker's house the other night, or were Occupying Wall Street a few years back, or standing with bats at Eric Holder's polling places.

Extraneus

I linked this yesterday, but it seems worth linking again for those who haven't read it.

https://themarketswork.com/2018/11/08/acting-ag-whitaker-muellers-investigation-and-the-rosenstein-memo/

There's more here than can be excerpted, but here's an important point.

On Aug. 6, 2017, Whitaker penned an op-ed for CNN that has been widely read, where he discussed the potential scope of the Mueller investigation:

“Investigating Donald Trump’s finances or his family’s finances falls completely outside of the realm of his 2016 campaign and allegations that the campaign coordinated with the Russian government or anyone else. That goes beyond the scope of the appointment of the special counsel.”

Whitaker has been attacked for these views but people should read the article. Whitaker references the Rosenstein interview discussed above and closes with this:

“It is time for Rosenstein, who is the acting attorney general for the purposes of this investigation, to order Mueller to limit the scope of his investigation to the four corners of the order appointing him special counsel.’

Whitaker simply requested that Rosenstein require that the Mueller investigation be held to the confines of its agreed intent.

VOX Co-Founder Matt Yglesias Gets Doxxed After Defending Harassment of Tucker Carlson

Yglesias, who co-founded Vox and is a senior correspondent there, was widely criticized for his tweets, including by me. (Disclosure: Yglesias was my colleague at Slate from 2011 to 2014.) By Thursday night he had deleted them.

Before he did, however, at least one Twitter user responded by posting Yglesias’ own home address in a reply thread. The implied threat was clear: Yglesias had failed to denounce the harassment by left-wingers of a conservative media personality at his home, so now he and his family deserved the same treatment.

That Yglesias would get doxed was perhaps predictable, even though it’s a direct violation of Twitter’s policies. (It shouldn’t matter whether Yglesias’ address is potentially findable elsewhere online; posting it on Twitter contravenes the platform’s stated rules, and the context makes it clear that the intent is to intimidate him.) What’s galling—and, by now, familiar—is Twitter’s response.

Poor twerp.

Jane

Thanks guys. I clicked and it now says I'm signed in as "Jane". Still can't figure out how to post a pix of Kiwi, but she says she is okay with that.

henry

jane, you should be able to click on your name under that comment, the goto your Typed profile and add a pic for an avatar. (I just got a cloudflare HTTPS error of some sort, so who knows).

The Infamous Ignatz

Jane [and others] if you click on your highlighted name under your comment it takes you to your profile page.
There, under your avatar it should say "Edit Your Profile".
Click on that and you get several fields to edit, the first one being choosing your own avatar.

Miss Marple

Well, I can't reset my password because it says it will send it to my email, which is the old one which is no longer operative.

I think I will try to create a new account, but I will have to change my name slightly.

OH, that old profile pic! (5:43PM, Nov 9).
My beautiful daughter, a young friend of her and the family, and a cousin of their host for a weekend in Nawlins.

I should re-tell my buddy's old James Carville story, especially as it falls on a USMC birthday/football weekend.

On the TO-DO list!
