FWIW, the battle between the ruling elites and the Great Unwashed is not just about Trump and US. The UK, France and Germany continue to have serious leadership problems opportunities.
The French protestors have the best line, as quoted by President Macron:
Ordinary people say the president’s speechifying about the fate of the planet overlooks the month-to-month struggle of their lives, and they are demanding he listen.
...
“What I want the French to understand — and especially those who are saying, more or less, ‘We’re hearing the President, the government, talk about the end of the world, but we, we are talking about the end of the month’ — I want them to understand, we’re going to deal with both,” Mr. Macron said in his speech to government officials in Paris.
It's the end of the month as we know it and I need wine.
From the title, I thought this would be about the UFO sightings in Ireland and Canada.

Jim_nj, for sure the Fed will increase .25 in December, that’s been a given. What’s less clear is how far they’ll go in 2019. They do not have a good track record in either direction. They seem to want to go beyond neutral, which I think is a bit worrisome. In addition to the fact that “neutral” is an elusive number. I’d prefer them to just stop trying to fine tune everything.

Note on the Fed from Chitown lurker:
To revisit something I wrote last night, I’d like to clarify a point that was slid over as “Conventional Wisdom” on my views regarding the inversion of the yield curve. It ONLY signals that The Fed is done. The markets often “overshoot the mark” when it comes to data inputs and reacting to the Fed is no different. Inversion in no way implies “Recession Imminent!” In my opinion. Like the Fed tightening cycle of ‘92-‘95, or for that matter ‘83-‘85, no recession followed. The curve missed inverting in the ‘95 cycle by 3 basis points on the bond, only.
My point being that DOOM! is not around the corner on this cycle, for a myriad of reasons. The first being that we are in no way at full employment because of SSD Fraud, for just one aspect. More slack in the system than people imagine. Tight spots in places, but not in a meaningful inflationary way.
There will be a 0.25 hike in Dec and another one in March. I would expect at least one more 0.25 hike after that, if not two in 2019.

It's been a while since I've been there but imo the French get unfairly stereotyped as surrender monkeys when things are a bit more complex. There was a distinct divide between normal people on the street and the ruling class elites. Unfortunately due to their prior North African adventures they have a conflicted attitude toward islam but that's another topic for another day.

The reason that the small truck business in the U.S. is such a go to favorite is that, for many years, Tariffs of 25% have been put on small trucks coming into our country. It is called the “chicken tax.” If we did that with cars coming in, many more cars would be built here.....

That OtherMcCain article on David French skates around a point I was just thinking about early this morning.
Modern conservatism's most well known exponent and his celebrated aphorism are why conservatism has been losing for 100 years and why it will continue to do so.
If a conservative is one standing astride history yelling stop then you have conceded history itself is progressive and since history is unstoppable you have conceded you are a mere pimple on progism's inevitable historic victory.
It's a world view wrong at every level and yet is utterly pervasive in conservatism. It's a defensive backwards looking truly reactionary worldview that cannot win because winning has no meaning given its stance; it either loses fast or more slowly.
The sad fact is modern conservatism arose as a reaction to the triumph of Wilson and FDR's progressive project to end the constitution and federalism. For the republic to survive, that conservatism needs to die. Not change; die, or be put to death.
Nevertrumpers I think, more so than Trump supporters, understand those are the stakes and that is why they are squealing like someone is trying to kill them; someone is, and it's not even trump or his supporters. It's that fraudulent history gravy train they've been fecklessly yelling at and benefitting from for 100 years. The progs have decided they no longer need the cons, especially since a new and actual enemy is trying to get on its feet.
Because the truth is future history is, despite what the left says, is not a determinate inevitability. If it were America would never have existed in the first place.
The one thing the progs fear most is conservatives quit watching history's tail and the prog laser pointer highlighting it and they turn around and start grabbing the reins from the progs that direct which way we're headed.
THAT and that alone is why they hate Trump in a way they never did docile conservatives who were happy to ride in the rumble seat drinking their Slushies.

Nasty weather in Cambridge England, but that first leg from Paris is only 196 miles long, so it happens very quick and deciphering all the ATC communications with their accents, first in French, then in "English" English, is like solving a crossword puzzle---a fun exercise. next leg was just along the southern Greenland coast so wonderful Aurora Borealis activity last night, so as usual we turned out the lights innthe cockpit and watched the Show. was a little nasty in Indianapolis on arrival so the company declared "an Operational Emergency" which lets them mess with our FAA Duty Day limitations. much less snow than expected, but chilly. Yes, because conservatives mostly have not even been yelling “Stop!” but rather “Slow down.” We need instead to point in the right direction, and make the case for going there. The Constitution is a good starting point. As written and intended, not as reinterpreted by progs.

The FULL COMMIE doesn't reinterpret the CONSTITUTION, it shit on it and ignores it.
Conservatives point to the Constitution mainly only when it comes to SC appointments, and sometimes to push back on new policies like Obamacare, but rarely to argue for eliminating large swaths of current policies and bureaucracies. That's largely because they've accepted the view that the General Welfare clause allows the feds to do practically anything, which is a huge mistake.

Yeah, James. He's smart enough to know the three-fifths canard is dishonest, yet he shovels it anyway, essentially disrespecting all blacks, many of who are well aware of the reason slaves weren't fully counted. Too bad no one ever calls him out. I'd love to watch the stuttering dickhead react to it.

In Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal, only six GOP appointees of twenty-nine seats
July 11, 2018 By James V. Lacy
As the Trump Administration focuses on its important Supreme Court nomination of Brett Kavanaugh, we are also reminded that of the twenty-nine members of the important U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, based in San Francisco, only six of the members were appointed by Republican presidents, resulting in the most liberal and highly overturned circuit court in the nation. Sixteen of the current members were appointed by Democrats, and the vacancy rate is the highest in the nation, with seven positions not yet filled by President Trump.

school choice vs teacher's union lackey as Gov:
A final set of data from Evers’ DPI compares the taxpayer costs of an MPS student ($14,900) with those in the Milwaukee choice program ($7,754 for grades K-8 and $8,400 for high school). In other words, the under-financed choice program nevertheless produces results superior to those of traditional public schools.

Most Californians Want Their Elected Officials to Work With Trump – UC Berkeley Poll
March 28, 2017 By James V. Lacy
California’s elected Democratic leaders have vowed to “resist” the Trump Administration. Attorney General Xavier Becerra says he will invoke legal action to cut any funding to California, San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee says he will “stand up to Trump,” Governor Jerry Brown has said California is “not turning back,” Democratic Congresswoman Maxine Waters wants to impeach the new President, and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has embraced the notion of “resistance” to the Trump Administration at every turn.
But these Democratic leaders appear out of tune with sentiments of Californians overall according to a new UC Berkeley poll which reveals that, although Donald Trump’s popularity in the state is at 39%, a clear majority of 53% of Californians would like their elected officials to work with Trump to try to fix the nation’s problems. The poll also revealed that while Californian’s oppose the Trump Administration on many issues, that when it comes to infrastructure reform and improving the economy, they favor Trump’s approach.
A description of this interesting poll can be accessed here: http://www.mercurynews.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/2017_01-trump-1-11.pdf

He's smart enough to know the three-fifths canard is dishonest
Eh, evidence? I would put it the other way: He's sufficiently dishonest and manipulative to be lying about it, but I wouldn't rule out stupidity as an additional factor.
