Mike Pompeo is doing a great job, I am very proud of him. His predecessor, Rex Tillerson, didn’t have the mental capacity needed. He was dumb as a rock and I couldn’t get rid of him fast enough. He was lazy as hell. Now it is a whole new ballgame, great spirit at State!
Guess you have to take the bad with the good when it comes to Trump. I know he likes to retaliate, but between that Tillerson tweet and the whining about Mueller, he seems to be losing his edge.
I caught a short segment of Rush as I was driving today. It seemed he was sharing a theory that Meuller staffed his committee all Trump haters because he knew there was "no *there* there" and it was insurance to protect himself when he had to admit - no Russia collusion. As in - if these guys couldn't find any evidence with all the anti-Trump feelings they possess - then truly it doesn't exist. So don't blame me (Meuller).
This was a theory I had not heard before and wondered if he really believes it or was just shooting the breeze. Anyone else hear him today?
"The Polish Coal Miners band, dressed in smart black uniforms and wearing traditional miners caps, struck up a tune as confused-looking delegates arrived at the convention center in Katowice, a city in the heart of Poland's coal mining country.
Coal was proudly displayed in cases around the convention pavilion. Coal, fashioned in jewelry, was for sale. A coal-based cosmetic company even touted products that it claimed would treat 'both body and soul.'
In addressing the delegates in his opening remarks, Polish President Andrzej Duba said Poland has no plans to give up coal"
Back and got the groceries unloaded! At least it's a sunny day, if cold (and colder tonight - down in the lower teens).
Did you guys miss where Tillerson said he had to keep telling Trump he couldn't do stuff because it was illegal? That statement was given in a public forum.
Trump always hits back twice as hard.I's a rule he lives by. It is in his books. He hadn't said one word about Tillerson in all this time until Tillerson spoke out. So there you go.
It's how Trump is. He is not a mild-mannered type, and he won't be crossed. We elected a junkyard dog and that is what we got.
Tillerson should have kept quiet. You will note that Corey Lewandowski never says anything critical about him.
Going back to the earlier discussion, does the term "blocked" as used in the context below refer to freezing assets, seizing assets or something else?
All property and interests in property that are in the United States, that hereafter come within the United States, or that are or hereafter come within the possession or control of any United States person of the following persons are blocked and may not be transferred, paid, exported, withdrawn, or otherwise dealt in.
Someone else said John Solomon floated that theory, Mom. Sounds like b.s. to me. Why not staff with hard-nosed people from both sides if you can't find apolitical types?
Before you abandon support for Trump, were you aware that 47 states have some form of civil asset forfeiture laws for state/local crimes? Only North Carolina, New Mexico and Nebraska have banned it at the state level.
Here are some more stats. Only 15 states require a conviction before seizing assets. 34 states require the defendant to prove the assets were not acquired via criminal activity.
Oh, I think most of us are well aware of that.
Every one of those 47 states is corrupt, and the practice needs to be abolished in all of them.
Of course it won’t be, because human nature sucks and it’s a very rare person who will ever surrender the slightest amount of power over their fellow man.
This is based on the Washington Post article, which I won't read. I see from Surber's article that the original was from a German-language paper, so I would like to see the translation and the original German.
However, Surber could be right he has been frightened by threats, so I will just ignore him until I get the straight truth.
Someone else said John Solomon floated that theory
Here is what confuses me about John Solomon. I have seen him referred to on Hannity as an investigative journalist but if you look at his articles on The Hill he is listed as an Opinion Contributor. I thought within the field of journalism there was a explicit distinction between an investigative journalist (who reports facts based on their investigation) and an oped writer (who uses facts as a foundation for their opinion which is expressed to influence a narrative).
I assume Solomon has some high level inside sources so from the investigative journalist angle the Mueller theory was leaked to him by an inside source. From the oped writer angle his Mueller theory is an opinion he came up with himself.
The fact that today is the first time I've ever heard anyone make that observation about why Mueller chose all Democrats to be on his team leads me to believe one of his inside sources leaked that information to him.
I've noticed that, too, Tom. Jeff Carlson seems to site Solomon's reporting fairly often, as if he takes it as fact. I assume Solomon has opinions similar to ours here, but he usually reports news rather than opinion.

I seem to remember that Ryan took the job because no one else wanted it. If I’m remembering correctly then it’s the whole House that are cowardly losers...
Tucker should clarify these comments of his on his show tonight.
Carlson said he cannot stand Trump’s self-aggrandizement and boasting. Then, when asked whether Trump has kept his promises, the usually quick-witted and long-winded Carlson had just one word: “No.”
His chief promises were that he would build the wall, defund Planned Parenthood and repeal Obamacare, and he hasn’t done any of those things,” Carlson said, adding that those goals were probably lost causes. Trump, he said, doesn’t understand the system, and his own agencies don’t support him.
“He knows very little about the legislative process, hasn’t learned anything, hasn’t surrounded himself with people that can get it done, hasn’t done all the things you need to do, so it’s mostly his fault that he hasn’t achieved those things,” he added.
Didn’t mean to slight your comment. It was truly appreciated. What Dads live for. Taking in a great game and weekend with your son. Always love the sense of awe and inspiration he gets at the game. Who knows where he ends up.

“He knows very little about the legislative process, hasn’t learned anything, hasn’t surrounded himself with people that can get it done, hasn’t done all the things you need to do, so it’s mostly his fault that he hasn’t achieved those things".
There's nothing to clarify there, unless to say "I never said that". Tucker is displeased with the pace of the wall, so insults the person who promised it. The fact that the wall had no chance of being built by any of the people that Tucker and his friends preferred to Trump gets lost in the shuffle.
And Tucker committed the cardinal sin of criticizing the United States while being overseas (or in an overseas paper, at any rate). Shades of the Dixie Chicks. I hate that shizzle.
BREAKING: In his just-filed memo recommending sentencing for Michael Cohen, Special Counsel Mueller finally acknowledges the president's personal lawyer never actually made contact with Putin or even Putin's press secretary in the defunct Moscow real estate project
“I will be honest with you, it troubles me that the American people seem to want to know so little about issues that they are satisfied with a 128 characters,” Tillerson said, referencing Trump’s prolific use of Twitter. “I don’t want that to come across as a criticism of him,” he added. “It’s really a concern that I have about us as Americans and us as a society and us as citizens.”
Tillerson also said “there’s no question” that Russia interfered in the 2016 Presidential elections, point blank. “What Russia wants to do is undermine our confidence, and undermine the world’s confidence in us,” he told reporters. Of Putin, he said “many people talk about playing chess. [Putin] plays three-dimensional chess.”
Of the POTUS, Tillerson said, “So often, the president would say here’s what I want to do and here’s how I want to do it and I would have to say to him, ‘Mr. President, I understand what you want to do but you can’t do it that way. It violates the law.'”
When Trump expressed frustration, the former Exxon Mobil CEO claimed he offered an olive branch. “I’d say ‘here’s what we can do. We can go back to Congress and get this law changed. And if that’s what you want to do, there’s nothing wrong with that.’ I told him I’m ready to go up there and fight the fight, if that’s what you want to do.”
Since 2014, American taxpayers have been billed nearly $30 million to fund school supplies, toys, clothing, and coloring books for migrants returning to Central America after being deported from the United States.
I seem to remember that Ryan took the job because no one else wanted it.
That was the explanation that was trotted out at the time but I don't know if I believe it or not, particularly with all the huge grandstanding egos on display. Granted for normal people it has the appeal of herding feral cats, but it's a high exposure gig with plenty of perqs.
So I'm throwing the bullshit flag on it, just like almost everything surrounding the huge disappointment named Paul Ryan.
"Oh, I really don't want this job, but I guess if you guys insist, I'll have to endure it for the good of the Republic. I mean, who else could possibly step in besides me?
Was it before or after his stint as Romney bat-man? All I know is that plagerising perv named Old Joe made him look like a kid who got caught stealing candy from the local store. Dan Crenshaw has more vision out of his one good eye than Ryan never had. [cuing maryrose:]
Greetings from Rapid City, SD. I'm in a little bit of a current events no go zone but a notification tells me the Clinton Foundation whistleblower has been working with the FBI and IRS for a year but that's doesn't explain the six hour raid on his house.
I still think Mueller is fishing and so far hasn't caught any keepers.
Buckeye,
I agree. I'm guessing that Mueller wants to keep his "investigation" alive right up to and through 2020. If and when he releases his report, the White House will respond. That response will address the FISA warrants - the very issue Mueller wants to bury in all these process crime pleas.
Flynn has yet to be sentenced. Why the delay? From a comment tweeted by Flynn's brother, I suspect that after he's sentenced Flynn will feel free to speak out.
Rush said he had just had a long interview with Jon Solomon for his upcoming edition of the Limbaugh Letter. Rush did not mention what will appear in the Letter but Rush did mention that Solomon had told him he has a pet theory of why Mueller hired those 15 Anti-Trump Invesrigators, so all Rush was doing today was explaining what Jon Solomon's pet theory was.
Solomon's a pretty smart dude, so I guess we have to consider the possibility.
Can you imagine, as a straight-shooting law man, deciding to hire 17 rabid partisans to help you investigate someone they all hate and would be happy to frame?
Not even one of your people could call them on any biased actions? And that was the plan all along?
I find not one thing wrong w Tucker giving an honest, factual accounting of things promised and not given,
Well I give Trump big credit for working his butt off to get a Tax cut through that nobody thought would ever happen, plus opening ANSR, and once again Trump only just got it through because he wasted so much time on whatever stupid Health Care fix "speedbump Paul Ryan" pretended he was pushing. And didn't Trump promise to move the US Embassy to Jerusalem? Damn straight, so Tucker Carlson and his blanket "No" statement can go to hell.
More plausible is the many disparate elements comprising Swamp (gov agencies, rogue judges, Dems, GOPe, media, celebs, ...) work together to hem in Trump.
The Special Prosecutor is one such insurance project. It's jury rigged, blatantly partisan and unfair but other than Trump who complains? Media? Repubs? It is to laugh.
One question. Does the Swamp allow progress on judges in order to distract and placate Trump supporters? They're a peaceable lot but maybe throw 'em a bone to be safe. Or maybe the judge thing is separate from Trump.
Does it occur to Tillerson what the alternative to "128 characters" was? That nobody is "satisfied" with 128 characters? That perhaps, just maybe, a whole lot of people are sick to hell with the swampy elite and the truly ignorant who vote over and over again to keep them in place?

Who keeps the books on law enforcement operations/investigations funded with seized-then liquidated- assets?
Who oversees purchases of equipment (and weaponry)?
Where is the dividing line between what gets spent on payments to individuals as compensation for services rendered?
Where are funds deposited, say, when assets are seized and liquidated at a local level? A cousin's bank?
Shirley all of these questions are answered in the transparency regs governing "civil asset forfeiture" at local, state, and national levels.

Gracious of you but there are never favorites in this game as you know.
Navy still has the most wins👍
And Air Force the most CinC trophies.
This year we are forgoing the March-On in favor a warm seat, food and libation in the club.
Carry on!
PS OL, since I am not driving I though a nice Goose Martini appropriate to the ocassion. Now on a very nice glass of Trefthen Chardonnay.

Just dumped the majority of my month's workdays so I can hang around when the guys are home. My schedule gets made nearly two months in advance---WAY too soon for my guys to know when/if they'll be home. Volunteered to work the holidays, only to find out I'll have a full house.
It's all working out.

Buckeye,
Mueller is nothing but a smoke screen.

Posted by: daddy | December 07, 2018 at 07:09 PM
Solomon's a pretty smart dude, so I guess we have to consider the possibility.
Can you imagine, as a straight-shooting law man, deciding to hire 17 rabid partisans to help you investigate someone they all hate and would be happy to frame?
Not even one of your people could call them on any biased actions? And that was the plan all along?
I'm not buying it.

Agree with Ext at 7:14. Possible but c'mon.
