daddy

I'm not buying it.

Me neither, Ext. My guess is Mueller intentionally hired those 17 Anti-Trump thugs to destroy Trump, plain and simple. But if now Mueller is in the awkward situation of having to admit they got nothing, then I can see Mueller concocting this Bulls**t excuse that he hired them for "responsible reasons," so that he could not be criticized for having failed to do due diligence in persuing Trump to the full extent of the Law and blah blah blah. Sounds like self serving after the fact justifications to me. Maybe that is more what Solomon meant.

Extraneus

Imagine being Mueller?

Total power to take out a president and, failing that, to punish anyone who would involve themselves with a disfavored outsider. With an unlimited budget and resources, you could outlast anyone who isn't a billionaire; intimidate anyone who isn't a multi-millionaire.

Very seductive situation, it would seem. Maybe Mueller is such a man as to be unfazed by power.

Narciso79

Ditto captain.

Well not if you know his record, from Boston to bcci to anthrax, and so on and so on

Captain Hate

Total power to take out a president

I just got in a big argument with my wife after she got lied to by those Disney news fucks over this. Trump can only be removed by impeachment and a Senate trial. Mueller is, as Levin has said, the most powerful prosecutor ever despite being an inferior officer of the DOJ.

It's a Constitutional crisis that he even exists and I wholly blame the gutless and complicit GOP.

President-Elect Jim,SunnyvaleCA

Maybe, CH. but the people Muellet is taking down are no danger to HRC.

boatbuilder

My guess (and it is just that) is that Mueller's recent moves--claiming that Manafort lied about what he was going to give them for his plea, the Flynn sentencing memo, the Cohen sentencing memo--are just what they seem. Winding down.

Remember that Ken Starr's report was about 400 pages of...not much. BJ got a BJ and lied about it.

I expect that Mueller's report will be about the same, although the press will shriek it as loud as they can. As Peter Strzok (who should know) so aptly put it, "there's no big there there."

Narciso79

Now Gulen made this all possible so I hold no brief for him

Tom R

Did I just hear Martha McCallum correctly? She said something to the effect there is new leak tonight from an anonymous source that the "lies" Mueller thinks Paul Manafort is telling is related to testimony surrounding Tony Podesta.

Captain Hate

Maybe, CH. but the people Muellet is taking down are no danger to HRC.

But they're diversions.

Barbara

daddy,

Carlson should have given the President credit for cutting regulations and pursuing gangs of illegals that have taken the lives of so many Americans.

The President has also implemented an aggressive foreign policy and followed through on his commitment to get the other nations in NATO to pay their share for the cost of defending them. He dropped the Paris Accords and the Trans Pacific debacle, and pulled us out of he infamous Iran deal - all pledges he made during the campaign.

Then there's what's left of he Islamic State of Syria after the President turned Mad Dog Mattis loose in "The Levant" as Obama likes to refer to it. North Korea was rattling it's nuclear sabers leading up to the election. The President promised to deal with that as well, and has made a major effort on his word alone to bring peace and prosperity to that peninsula and the starving people under Kim Jung Il. To do that, he had to obtain the cooperation of China to put pressure on the North Koreans.

These are but some of the pledges that President Trump made during the campaign, and we haven't even considered his appointment of judges, including two Justices to the Supreme Court. I'm sure that everyone here can add to the list.

President Trump is a whirlwind. He's he most active president that I've seen in my lifetime.

I don't know what bed Tucker Carlson has been hiding under, but it's about time he opened his eyes and gave the President credit for a job well done. I'm not holding my breath though.

Extraneus

For Star Trek fans, Shatner is in Ticonderoga tonight, and I believe tomorrow night. Tickets were reduced from $1000 to $850. No groupon that I know of.

https://www.startrektour.com/

Tom R

Catherine Herridge just said the same thing on Tucker (who so far hasn't addressed his controversial comments on Trump) about Tony Podesta. Apparently Manafort is not cooperating with the investigation into Podesta as he promised to.

Narciso79

Well then hes stupider than we suspected, Podesta and mercury partners did the real outreach.

henry

Manafort fears Arkancide?

daddy

Great points, Barbara.

Tom R

Manafort fears Arkancide?

henry,

Do you recall my answer many many months ago when people asked why was Mueller going after Manafort but not Podesta? I said that maybe Manafort was the small fish and they were leaning on him to testify against Tony Podesta, a bigger fish. I also said the reason Manafort isn't cooperating to take down the Podesta is because he was afraid he and his family would be victims of Arkancide.

I caught a significant amount of flak for taking that stance. What happened to Eye Doctor? I am going to miss out on witnessing his head exploding if it turns out I was correct about this all along.

Barbara

Thank you, daddy.

Something stinks re that Tucker Carlson interview.... either he doesn't want to sell books or he's being extorted. Here is an excerpt from that German language interview...i dint read anybody quoting what is at the end of this excerpt from https://www.weltwoche.ch/ausgaben/2018-49/artikel/trump-is-not-capable-die-weltwoche-ausgabe-49-2018.html

Check out the lower third of this excerpt regarding AOC. (Got a big huh? from me.)

“Q: Has Trump kept his promises? Has he achieved his goals?

TC: ‘No. His chief promises were that he would build the wall, de-fund planned parenthood, and repeal Obamacare, and he hasn’t done any of those things… I don’t think he’s capable.’

Q: Has he really achieved nothing?

TC: ‘Not much. Not much. Much less than he should have. I’ve come to believe he’s not capable of it.’

Q: [In your book, Ship of Fools] you write nostalgically about the old liberals – why?

TC: ‘I find myself in deep sympathy with a lot of the aims of 1970s liberals. They were suspicious of market capitalism. People get crushed beneath its wheels. Capitalism drives change, innovation change, the old ways give way to new ways of doing things, and in the process of change the weak get hurt always. What’s changed [today] is that nobody is standing up on behalf of the people who are being crushed by the change.’

Q: Is that really so? Look at the grassroots movement on the Left: Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez and her socialist group.

TC: ‘Yes. You’re absolutely right. That’s the future’.”

Looks like Debbie Wasserman Schulz and the Awans are circling the drain.

Meanwhile, Acting AG Whittaker has reopened Project Cassandra, the DEA investigation of narco-trafficking by Hezbollah Moslem Terrorists shut down by Obama.

"One reason Obama shut Cassandra down was to protect the Awan brothers involved in Moslem terrorist money laundering and their connection with Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz. Debbie Dimwit may not be sleeping well tonight as she realizes she’s Cassandra fair game now.

Hopefully Mitch McConnell will ask for a VOTE on Criminal Justice Reform. It is extremely popular and has strong bipartisan support. It will also help a lot of people, save taxpayer dollars, and keep our communities safe. Go for it Mitch!

All this razzmatazz about asset forfeiture may be largely pointless if the SCOTUS is going to limit it via excessive fine prohibitions.
That will put a serious crimp in most cases of it.

There are some silly things in that interview, the problem is the system which is not geared to any of the proper responses, this procrustean tax bill for one example that is what meant for understanding the process.

So how does that work? Does Mueller say to the SDNY "hey guys, I want you to look at this which seems to fall out my ill defined area of investigation because it doesn't have anything to do with the 2016 election"? And they subsequently call back and say "oh Bob, it looks like it does have something to do with the election; let's you and us work on it and keep those shitheads on your staff out of it".

Manafort's cooperation with Mueller may have been handing over all his evidence against Podesta to the 17 angry cleaners, for permanent sanitation, of any deep state keepers and then they found out Manafort had an undisclosed self-preservation file.

I never bought the idea that the team of Dems was assembled because they would be the most vicious, most biased, sour grapers to go after Trump's head. I always pictured them as a crew that quickly and innately recognises documents, testimony, etc that is harmful to the mission and determines whether that information disappears or gets used advantageously.

My guess is that SDNY interviewed Manafort as part of their investigation into Podesta, Craig and Weber and Manafort refused to testify against Podesta. SDNY then informed Mueller that Manafort wasn't cooperating as he promise to in his plea deal so Mueller accused him of lying and violating the plea deal.

As part of his plea deal, Manafort has the opportunity to save one of his houses for his family to live in.
