With the Deep State having a firm grip on the reins of Law, it is next to impossible to root them out by normal legal means.

They control the courts, the prosecutors and the enforcement arm.

There is no way for even an organized group to tackle that degree of poison.

I think everyone thought they were localized in another part of the Government. We never imagined it would be those at the pinnacle of law enforcement that would take over the country and do so with glee.

They've had since World War II to perfect their positions and the means to thwart any restructuring or investigation.

They've been at the heart of every investigation ever done and have twisted the outcome in their favor.

I'm sure they've done ops where they've planted evidence so as to impugn the reputations of those that posed a threat. And also to put those they feared in prison.

And by passing the so called 'Patriot Act' we handed them all the tools they need to make their hold on everything complete and unassailable.

I'm just surprised they haven't held a press conference and told us who our new leader is and how the government will operate openly in the future.

My brain has been hurting since about 1:00 trying to make sense of what Judge Sullivan did today. I am really sick to death of trying to figure out who the good guys are and who the bad guys are and why "The Law" seems absolutely hell-bent on crucifying certain people for relatively minor stuff while ignoring all manner of flagrant law-breaking by others. I am also genuinely puzzled as to why Flynn insists he's guilty while at the same time insisting that he was set up (as his lawyers claimed in the sentencing brief) and then, when the Judge asks about that, they say they are not taking issue with the FBI's conduct.

I am thinking that maybe some of the commenters at Ace are on to something--that Sullivan is also sick of the charade, and a) wanted to goad Flynn into renouncing it, and b) wanted to make all of Mueller's promises of leniency for "cooperation" worthless. Here's a sample:

I tried posting facts/questions/points on local sites for awhile. I was surprised by the number of "likes". I don't argue or engage really, but just post short facts.

Also, getting involved on the ground level of the Republican party is a big help.
It's easy to cut down RINO candidates, but it takes great effort (a year or more ahead of time) to get the numbers, paperwork, & structure in place for a new candidate.

Another thing that puzzles me are the comments by "a prosecutor on a Mueller's team" who told the judge of Flynn's assistance in bringing charges against a former business partner and that he may “possibly” continue to cooperate with their ongoing investigations. Apart from implicating the former business partner, in what way did Flynn cooperate? In what manner and for how long "may" Flynn be expected to "cooperate" under his plea agreement? I haven't read any specific details of that agreement, but based on the comments of the prosecutor, it seems like they plan to keep General Flynn on a short leash for the foreseeable future.

Keep in mind that we've also learned that although George Papadopoulos has completed his 12 day jail sentence, he is even now being investigated by Mueller's team on new charges of collusion with the Russians. One can only speculate on how Sullivan's unusual comments today play into all of this and what he expects might change in he next 3 months, but one thing is for certain IMO. None of those investigated and/or charged by the Special Counsel will ever be free until they assist him with delivering President Trump's head on a platter or until Mueller is fired and his endless, wandering probe is shut down.

Daddy--I'm still baffled by this, but if the theory laid out by the Ace commenter (and others) is correct, Judge Sullivan is refusing to play 4-D chess. And that is the problem for Flynn and for Mueller.

It is making more sense to me--especially the "treason" part. Sullivan had to know that they couldn't charge Flynn with "treason" under any circumstances, yet they put forth this sentencing memo saying Flynn did all sorts of heinous things in addition to lying to the FBI but they were OK with that, and Flynn was saying I didn't do any of that and I was set up, but let's just pretend that I lied and I'm not going to make an issue out of the gross prosecutorial misconduct here so I can go home. Sullivan said he's not playing along. I think he said "treason" because he knew it would get to Flynn.

This didn't go the way Mueller wanted it, either.

On Tuesday's Mark Levin Show, Judge Emmett Sullivan did not conduct himself as a jurist today, he was out of control. Sullivan accused a 3-star General, a hero, of treason. Retired Lt General Michael Flynn has a legal gun to his head and hasn't done anything that Loretta Lynch, Eric Holder and James Comey haven't done. His conversation with Ambassador Kislyak, and the substance of his conversation were not illegal. Yet the FBI interviewed him twice and advised him to waive his right to counsel, even though the protocol calls for it. Yet this Judge has the gall to call this General treasonous because he knows that he can say whatever he wants because of his black robe and lifetime appointment. This might be a shocker, but the vast majority of unregistered foreign agents lobbying abroad have not been prosecuted.

Why did Sullivan use the word "arguably?" I think he meant that "according to what the prosecution tells me, that you are not fighting, that could be looked on (and portrayed in the media) as treason."

Sullivan has had lots of meetings with the lawyers on both sides during the two years of delaying sentencing while they dance around with each other. He knows there's a whole lot more, or less, going on than the BS plea. He did get the timeline wrong--I wonder whether that was on purpose. Telling Flynn that if you plead guilty the MSM will tar you forever regardless of whether you are guilty or not. I don't know. I have to give him credit for something more than just blowing it all up because he's a clueless jackass.

I was dumbfounded because the articles didn't mention that Sullivan walked back the treason charge.

Seeing you guys discuss it I get the nuance of what was going on.

I think SBW @10:15 has a very good take on this. Sullivan seems uncomfortable with both sides forcing him into the role of a Kabuki actor with a scripted role.
