can you say boondoggle?

On Wednesday, the House of Representatives voted 348-11 to adopt a bill aimed at accelerating the development of quantum computing. The bill, dubbed the National Quantum Initiative Act, passed the Senate last week unanimously, and President Trump is expected to sign the legislation, which will add the U.S. to the mix of powers such as China and the EU that are pursuing their own coordinated strategies to accelerate this technology.

Pro tip: GFM asks for a tip but you can select "Other" and $0.

• 100% of your donations will go to the Trump Wall.

• We are working with a law firm on a legal document that will bind the government to using the funds for the border wall itself, nothing else.

• We will hold all funds and not release a single penny until we have all legal aspects covered to ensure our money goes only to the wall.

• If we don’t reach our goal or come significantly close we will refund every single penny. We are working on a time frame to achieve.

Jim,SunnyvaleCA,USA

I did see some donators marked as "anonymous".

Still, I would suggest people NOT donate to the Wall if (for example) you could be targeted by activists who contact your employer to demand you be fired.

Or, if you might in the future be interviewed at Google or other liberal high tech firm where employees and managers on your interview team might look up your donation history prior to talking to you.
(If you gave to Trump, Mitt, or Congressional Repubs it's too late. That info is permanent. Throw caution to the wind)

The Plaintiffs (i.e., the Attorneys General for DC and Maryland) have moved to voluntarily dismiss (without prejudice) their individual capacity claim against the President, and to move forward exclusively with their official capacity claim against the President (in reality a claim against the government, not Donald J. Trump). It is not yet clear if the President will consent to the dismissal! The President’s private counsel might take the position that the matter has been fully briefed for nearly 7 months. . . . The President’s brief is due later today—then we will know the President’s position. This is all a stunning turn of events. The media is not reporting it.”

An eye for an eye, and all that. Maybe if enough leftists lose their jobs or whatever passes for their reputations, they'll decide that those tactics aren't so great after all, and they'll start to behave better.

From that Judicial Watch link last thread;

A Defense Department document from the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), dated September 12, 2012, the day after the Benghazi attack, details that the attack on the compound had been carefully planned by the BOCAR terrorist group “to kill as many Americans as possible.” The document was sent to then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, then-Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Obama White House National Security Council. The heavily redacted Defense Department “information report” says that the attack on the Benghazi facility “was planned and executed by The Brigades of the Captive Omar Abdul Rahman (BCOAR).” The group subscribes to “AQ ideologies:”

--"The attack was planned ten or more days prior on approximately 01 September 2012. The intention was to attack the consulate and to kill as many Americans as possible to seek revenge for U.S. killing of Aboyahiye ((ALALIBY)) in Pakistan and in memorial of the 11 September 2001 atacks on the World Trade Center buildings."--

I attribute the steel in Trump's spine in the last 48 hours to the shock of seeing his base so, so angry with him for the pretty obvious willingness to cave on the wall.

Kudos to him for reacting correctly.

Now that he has seen that his base will indeed leave him if he leaves them, and now that he knows he has no friends in DC after bending over backwards for two years, then it would make MY day if his Christmas present to the nation is to throw the kitchen sink at the Swamp on every front available to him.

Including making a couple of dozen recess appointments in whatever the time period is between the legal end of the current session and the Jan 3 commencement of the next. Any recess appointments get to serve until the end of the next session, and that will coincide with the end of Trump's term if he does not fire all the weapons he has.

He should appoint NOBODY who has worked inside the Beltway, ever.

He should promote no General who was made General in the last decade.

Assuming the Senate refuses him his CR on his terms, he should replace Mattis with the highest ranking Col in the Army Corp of Engineers.

:-)

He should recess appoint an Acting AG who has more anger at government abuse than any other pitbull in the country, and he should DIRECT him to indict 50 criminals from the Obama-Hilary teams within the next 90 days.

He should release every page of damning documents and use them to erase all Ds and all Rs implicated.

In other words, "I tried it their way and got no help from the Deep State. From this date on, we will do it my way, come what may..."

Then do it.

His best defense now is a smothering offense and in so protecting himself, he might get some MAGA done-done for the rest of us, and get another term to ram it home.

Otherwise we are looking at a disappointing two years and (I think) a return to Swamp Bidness as Usual thereafter.

Ginsburg is 85 years old. At that age the recovery is as dangerous as the surgery. She is prolonging the inevitable fact of her retirement.

If we are lucky, Trump will have 2 Supreme Court picks coming up.

I have to reflect upon Obama's Arab Spring and the damage it has done in the Middle East. He and his French and Brit buddies are alone responsible for the migrant crisis in Europe. They set off the lawlessness that has allowed it to flourish and left a crater where Libya used to be.

Maybe 500,000 dead in Syria so far?2 million refugees or more.

17 years of war and what did we accomplish? Obama flushed Afghanistan in 2010 when he telegraphed our withdrawal. Since then it has been a Kabuki. Iraq is relatively stable but still totally dysfunctional. That may be the best we can hope for.

The Yemen mess can be laid at Obama's door as well. His surgical strikes weren't that surgical compared to the Saudis either.

And much as I love Mattis and Kelly, what is our national interest? ISIS is running around in a smaller and smaller radius in Syria, and has functionally moved its base to Europe, where small attacks yield big results.

Now if Trump would just abolish the TSA we'd truly make America great again.

And, just as the maids we hire seem to all say "I don't do windows", EVERYBODY who knows me knows "OL does not predict stock prices, ever".

But I do pay attention. Stocks (Dow) hovered between 10,000 and about 15,000 for two decades, even though as Iggy knows, the world money supply was flooded with ZIRP bucks. 10-15,000. More or less.

It was about 16,000 when Trump rode down the escalator and laid out his MAGA vision and lit a fire in the hearts of all of us. The Dow traced his success in defeating the 17 GOPe midgets then he slayed the Wicked Witch, and the Dow did not look back until it got to just under 27,000 at the beginning of this very year.

All this year, the Swamp kicked his butt, and once the House was lost-lost, the market started thinking about that pre-Trump two decade range of 10-15,000 and said "Hmmm." So far it has given back 4,000 points, but still remains more than 6,000 points above where it was when he took the escalator ride.

Anybody who thinks Trumps does not see this is not paying attention.

A young man called Chris from London wanted to buy a Christmas present for his new girlfriend.
They hadn't been seeing each other for very long and she lived in Scotland ...
Chris consulted with his sister and decided, after careful consideration, that a pair of good quality gloves would strike the right note... not too romantic and not too personal ..
Off he went with his sister to Harrods and they selected a dainty pair of fur lined quality leather gloves.
His sister bought a pair of sexy knickers for herself at the same time.
Harrods had a free gift wrap offer but the assistant mixed up the two items, the sister got the gloves and Chris unknowingly got the knickers.
Good old Chris sent off his gift wrapped present in a parcel with the following letter.
Dear Maggie,
I chose these because I've noticed that you are not wearing any when we go out in the evenings.. If it had not been for my sister I would have chosen the long ones with buttons, but she wears shorter ones (which are easier to remove).
These are a very delicate shade, but the lady I bought them from showed me the pair she had been wearing for the past three weeks and I hardly noticed any marks.
I had her try yours on for me and she looked really smart in them even though they were a little bit tight on her. She also said that they rub against her ring which helps keep it clean. In fact she hasn't needed to clean it since she began wearing them.
I wish I was there to put them on for you the first time, as no doubt many other hands will touch them before I have a chance to see you again.
When you take them off remember to blow into them a little bit because they will be naturally a little damp from wearing.
Just imagine how many times my lips will kiss them during the coming year.
I hope you will wear them for me on our next date.
All my love,
Chris
P.S. My mum tells me that the latest style is to wear them folded down with a little bit of fur showing.

17 years of war and what did we accomplish?

How many major terrorists attacks never happened over the past 17 years thanks to the Taliban not being in control of Afghanistan and providing a safe haven for Al Qaeda/ISIS to train for their terrorist attacks?

Over 2300 US military servicemen made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in Afghanistan. We don't keep official body counts anymore but I would be willing to bet the ratio of deaths was 10:1 Islamic terrorist to US servicemen. Maybe even higher than that. That's a lot of dead terrorists who never got the opportunity to kill innocent civilians in the US.

Little Johnnie's neighbor had a baby. Unfortunately, the baby was born without ears. When mother and new baby came home from the hospital, Johnnie's family was invited over to see the baby. Before they left their house, Little Johnnie's dad had a talk with him and explained that the baby had no ears.

His dad also told him that if he so much mentioned anything about the baby's missing ears or even said the word ears, he would get the smacking of his life when they came back home. Little Johnnie told his dad he understood completely.

When Johnnie looked in the crib he said, "What a beautiful baby."

The mother said, "Why, thank you, Little Johnnie."

Johnnie said, "He has beautiful little feet and beautiful little hands, a cute little nose and really beautiful eyes. Can he see?"

"Yes," the mother replied, "we are so thankful; the Doctor said he will have 20/20 vision."
