Tabloid Publisher’s Deal in Hush-Money Inquiry Adds to Trump’s Danger
Yeah, yeah, and Al Capone was busted for tax evasion. More to the point, Richard Nixon was busted for (among other things) campaign finance irregularities. But for heaven's sake - the Watergate investigation started with irrefutable evidence of a break-in at DNC headquarters, which we all understand to be a crime. Not to mention that Nixon wondering whether the CIA could head off the FBI investigation looked a lot like obstruction and an abuse of Presidential power.
But Trump and Cohen? For better or worse, paying off former Playmates and playmates is not a crime. As to whether the actual mechanism violated campaign finance rules, well, first of all, that is why Trump hired lawyers. Lacking evidence that Cohen advised Trump this was illegal and Trump ordered him to go full speed ahead anyway, where is the criminal intent? And a perceived lack of criminal intent is why Hillary is not serving time for her server shenanigans.
This is a crime so subtle that charging it looks like yet another interminable NFL booth review of a sideline catch, where replay officials host a seance to determine the location of various body parts relative to ground and sideline and then enlist diviners to judge whether the receiver was juggling the ball, had firm possession, engaged in a football move, or whatever.
Even top Democrats admit that this campaign finance thing is iffy:
If the campaign finance case as laid out by prosecutors is true, [incoming House Judiciary Chair] Mr. Nadler said, Mr. Trump would be likely to meet the criteria for an impeachable offense, and he said he would instruct his committee to investigate when he takes over in January.
But he added that did not necessarily mean that the committee should vote to impeach Mr. Trump. “Is it serious enough to justify impeachment?” he asked. “That is another question.”
Democrats can use it as a tack-on to their central charge of "Orange Hair Bad".
Wow! Oneth!

So, is Allen Weisselberg gonna testify that Cohen paid the bimbos off with campaign funds, at Trump's order?
Because that would be the only campaign finance issue that I can see would jeopardize Trump.
Other than that, can't Trump pay whatever he wants to to sluts to keep that info quiet, even during a campaign?

Easily handled with an immediate oxycontin and never returned after Myrbetriq.

There was a study done, I believe in Chicago in the 70's, where they sent the prostates of all autopsied men for analysis. I believe this was done over a period of around 10 years, and thousands of prostates were analyzed.
Cancer was found in something like 30% of men in their 40's, 40% of men in their 50's, etc. I forget the actual numbers, but they were surprisingly high.
Most prostate cancers are not dangerously aggressive, and something called a Gleason score is used to assess the cells taken from biopsies.
Good luck, Peter!

Posted by: Captain Hate | December 13, 2018 at 10:20 AM
On this "signal to noise" thing.
I know it is true and has been for a while, but sometimes there just is not much signal to be had. We come here anyway because we like each other for the most part, and since we don't have to, we are each here because we get more out of it that it costs us. But when there really is not much signal in the ether, all we have left to do is pick fights with each other.
The absence of signal, since the signal we all crave is to set our country back on a good path, is incredibly frustrating for all of us, and we each express that in our own special way.
A wise man observed that we know where each of us tethers our goat.

I'm in Wait 'n" See mode on most of the Flynn revelations, but the several things I have read didn't mention a surreptitious recording.

It's interesting to consider the gradual reversal of roles [or in Julia Roberts' case, holes] over the last few decades.
Don't trust anybody over 30, question authority and all that other 60s crap has now become trust implicitly the CIA and the FBI, trust the Special Prosecutor, above all, the Cartmenesque, do not question our authority.
Just as interesting is the difference in the change in the "right's" roles. Since the right is not an ideology there was never the blind allegiance to authority inherent in progs so the shift has been a much smaller one from its nice to see the law being enforced to why the hell can't the law be enforced?

From Iggy's link:
Even though Trump signed the agreement, both houses of Congress must ratify it. If enough Republicans hold out, they can demand the White House remove Article 19.17. Doing so will not serve as a poison pill for the entire treaty. U.S. negotiators proposed and advocated Article 19.17, so Mexico and Canada will not pull out over any changes to it.
At a bare minimum, Congress should change the treaty language so it mirrors existing federal law, and note that they do not intend for the treaty to change any legal precedents already established in this area.

Looks to me like that change will align the powers the EU has given to the media platforms in the name of 'media literacy' to supposedly combat Fake News and Hate Speech.
I have commented before the definition of Fake News defers to the source, not the veracity of the information. So if WaPo or NYT or broadcast networks dispense provable inaccurate narratives it is NOT Fake News. If I wrote documented posts as a blogger that are accurate in every detail that can still be characterized as Fake News because it is not an approved source.
I even asked the head of cnn and an NYT reporter if my interpretations of the definitions of Fake News were correct and they agreed it is about the source.

The Flynn Entrapment
A court filing shows the ugly tactics employed by James Comey’s FBI.
By The Editorial Board
Dec. 12, 2018 6:55 p.m. ET
Of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s many targets, the most tragic may be former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn. The former three-star general pleaded guilty last year to a single count of lying to the FBI about conversations he had with Russia’s ambassador to the U.S. Now we learn from Mr. Flynn’s court filing to the sentencing judge that senior bureau officials acted in a way to set him up for the fall.
Not a rich man after decades in uniform, Mr. Flynn pleaded guilty to avoid bankruptcy and spare his son from becoming a legal target. Mr. Flynn’s filing doesn’t take issue with the description of his offense. But the “additional facts” the Flynn defense team flags for the court raise doubts about FBI conduct.
The Flynn filing describes government documents concerning the Jan. 24, 2017 meeting with two FBI agents when Mr. Flynn supposedly lied. It turns out the meeting was set up by then Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe, who personally called Mr. Flynn that day on other business—to discuss an FBI training session. By Mr. McCabe’s account, on that call he told Mr. Flynn he “felt that we needed to have two of our agents sit down” with him to talk about his Russia communications.
Mr. McCabe then urged Mr. Flynn to meet without a lawyer present. “I explained that I thought the quickest way to get this done was to have a conversation between [Mr. Flynn] and the agents only. I further stated that if LTG Flynn wished to include anyone else in the meeting, like the White House Counsel for instance, that I would need to involve the Department of Justice. [Mr. Flynn] stated that this would not be necessary and agreed to meet with the agents without any additional participants,” wrote Mr. McCabe in a memo viewed by the Flynn defense team.
According to the FBI summary of the interview—known as a 302—Mr. McCabe and FBI officials “decided the agents would not warn Flynn that it was a crime to lie during an FBI interview because they wanted Flynn to be relaxed and they were concerned that giving the warnings might adversely affect the rapport.”
We also know from then FBI Director James Comey that this was his idea. This is “something I probably wouldn’t have done or wouldn’t have gotten away with in a more organized administration,” Mr. Comey boasted on MSNBC this weekend. “In the George W. Bush Administration or the Obama Administration, if the FBI wanted to send agents into the White House itself to interview a senior official, you would work through the White House counsel, there would be discussions and approvals and who would be there. And I thought, it’s early enough let’s just send a couple guys over.”
If the goal was to set a legal trap, it worked. The two agents showed up at the White House within hours of Mr. McCabe’s call, and they reported in the 302 that General Flynn had been “relaxed and jocular” and “clearly saw the FBI agents as allies.” One of the agents was Peter Strzok, who is famous for his anti-Trump texts to his FBI paramour.
The FBI agents had seen transcripts of Mr. Flynn’s conversations with the Russian ambassador that were “unmasked” by Obama Administration officials. The 302 says that rather than flag this and ask Mr. Flynn for an explanation, the FBI agents decided before the meeting that if “Flynn said he did not remember something they knew he said, they would use the exact words Flynn used, . . . to try to refresh his recollection. If Flynn still would not confirm what he said, . . . they would not confront him or talk him through it.”
Keep in mind the FBI’s counterintelligence probe into Russia and the Trump campaign was still secret. Mr. Flynn had done nothing wrong in conversing with the Russian ambassador—it was part of his job—and he had no reason to believe he was in legal jeopardy. He initially claimed he misremembered what was discussed, which is more believable than that a highly decorated officer would lie to FBI officers he agreed to see without counsel.
Mr. Flynn’s lawyers are requesting probation and community service, though the facts suggest the judge should question the entire plea deal. Messrs. McCabe and Strzok have both been fired for misconduct, and their behavior reeks of entrapment.
If he does nothing else, President Trump has an obligation to former aides like Michael Flynn and to the public to declassify and disclose the FBI documents related to the FBI’s Russia probe.

This is what a Marxist politician sounds like when they have a brain, unlike the idiot from NY.
"Stacey Abrams may have lost the Georgia gubernatorial race this year – but she doesn't think her political career is over.
“Yes, I’m going to run again,” Abrams said when asked during Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Next Gen summit Tuesday, adding: “Stay tuned!”
She said she hasn’t yet decided what office she’ll seek next because she wants to avoid making “decisions out of anger.” She also said the next job should have a “mission” that aligns with her skillset.
“I care about policy,” Abrams said. “I’m driven by a commitment to justice, to ending poverty, to addressing social needs and using public policy as a tool to improve the lives around us.”

So,yesterday I saw another road rage incident in a parking lot. I was rolling my grocery cart to the car and someone was backing out without looking. The old folks here don't know how to turn their necks. :) The driver almost backed into another car and the guy in the other car (window was rolled down) dropped the F-bomb. I gave him my mean mother look. I reached the car and started loading in the groceries. The guy drove by me and I heard him say,"sorry ma'am."

rse @11:19, the brainless ones are less dangerous. O-C is a joke. AbrMs is dangerous.

I don’t expect the Duranty Times to devote much space to the two Israelis just murdered by Pali freedom lovers, or that baby delivered prematurely when the mother was shot that just died.

Jane, YL2 says you will be fine. Probably fully accounts for the problems you reported before. Almost always benign, your surgical approach was by the book, your recovery will be uncomfortable but manageable.
If you have any questions, I am happy to introduce the two of you electronically. She wishes she had done the procedure but that is a few years down the road in her training. I told her she can do your next one...

Ext, the only changes for Gore in those ten years is that he got really fat, he got single, and he got really rich.

Thanks OL, and also for the offer of communication. I'm not really worried, just thought the entire experience was weird because I had no signs of it until the brain scan. Tell YL2 thanks and I'll book her for the next one.

Today’s news - IG says Strzok’s and Page’s phones have been wiped. And the backups are gone.
Dirty. All dirty.
Thanks Jeff.

My youngest had a couple of ablations for tachycardia when he was 12 at Childres in Boston. He was playing hockey at the time and complaining about his heart racing. I told him everyones heart races when they skate so stop doggin it and hustle! Then his mother the RN pulled over on the way home after a game and took his pulse, it was sky high. I feel bad about scolding him to hustle now! But what a great hospital. I was nervous until I saw a young girl going in for open heart.
