Stephanie Gibbons, vice president of FX Networks multiplatform marketing, had a rather unique take that involved some rule changes and reincarnation.

"It's my dream that Obama comes back with a waiver on term limits and Lincoln comes back from the other side as his VP," she said. "P.S. Oprah is Senate majority leader and Rachel Maddow is speaker of the House. They both take over as president and VP in 2024."

Thanks to whomever recommended Glenn Miller's In the Christmas Mood.

a-mom, I made that recommendation. You're welcome!

matt - deplore me if you must

I have to laugh at the "living wage" argument. I remember my dad and my uncles working 2 and sometimes three jobs to make ends meet and provide for their families.

Our Lyft drivers in NYC were working 12 - 14 hours/day or more and seemed happy doing it compared to the options in their home countries. We had drivers from all over India; Cameroon, Jamaica, and Guinea.

When the options are eat or don't eat, motivation is easy.

Now fatass workers at McDonalds and Wendy's want $15/hr so they can dine on prepared junk food. Walking the aisles of the supermarket, it is no freaking wonder we have an obesity problem. It's all preservatives and carbohydrates and sugar. What is the point of sugars in a lot of foods? We are mainlining Type II diabetes as a society. The ice cream aisle has more choices than a numbers game and do you want this crap pizza or that crap pizza?

Of course some legislator in California will take aim at the issue and ban Dunkin Donuts cinnamon croissants at some point but I will defend your right to junk food and plastic straws to the death, or not.

And now the snowflakes are stopping having real sex. I guess that is a good thing for society in the long run. Robots and on line porn have taken over.

Get offa my lawn.....

You have made the same arguments many times before wrt Flynn.

Ex,

Stephanie Gibbons (your 12:51) proves once again, even if you are educated, and in a senior management position, as a loopy progressive your too stupid to have a senior management position. If I was her employer, I would seriously look into a mental exam for her before letting her access any of my electronics or key to the restroom.

If Mueller is guilty of threatening Flynn in that manner then Flynn is a coward for not fighting back and standing up for the principles he swore an oath to defend.

I'd say that the coward in this will be Judge Emmett Sullivan if he is actually looking at backdated 302's and undeniable evidence of schemes to entrap Flynn, yet he still lets the corrupt scheme succeed without tossing it out of court. That'd be cowardice. This ain't Sullivan's first sword dance. He is the guy that had this exact same politically motivated corruption happen in his Court before. He knows the exact tactics of the corrupt FBI Agents. Previously Sullivan could say "I didn't know this was happening until after the trial." Now he can't claim ignorance, because the evidence is staring him in the face before sentencing, so now Sullivan has no excuse. If he sees this corruption, yet refuses to stop it in its tracks with his legitimate Judicial Power, then he's the epitome of cowardice.

What are you ACTUALLY DOING to fight the enemies of the constitutional republic you swore an oath to?

Old Lurker

An Army General might make $150,000 per year, most less, a very few more. Most are not Trust Fund Children.

$150,000 = $75 per hour (IF he leaves work after 8 hours in which case he would not be a general), less say more than 1/3 for taxes = net of maybe $50 per hour. Based on actual hours put in, probably only $25 per hour - during some of which his life might have been at risk for us.

A good white collar criminal lawyer in DC will bill between $500 - $1,000 per hour, not counting associates, paralegals and zeroxing costs. Emails will be billed at 15 minutes each. The lawyer decides what to call "hours spent for services rendered".

Caught up in the web of a politically motivated prosecution can cost a good general ten years of his after tax pay, and even when it does not, the uncertainty that it might, and even then he might lose but the lawyer gets paid regardless, makes the calculation unfathomable for regular people to imagine.

And to be charged for political reasons for crimes never even charged to people on the other side of the politics who are known to have done much, much worse things, can make a sane person crazy.

There is not a single person on this blog (now that DoT is gone) who has the right to make fun of the hard decision Gen Flynn had to make while serving his country and his CiC.

Iggy, you were being attacked by your own brother who was using his own resources to beat up on you and take your money. I wonder where in the game it escalated to accusing you of criminal behavior.

Flynn is being attacked by the government using free money to take all of his money and maybe put him in jail, and frankly only to score points against Donald Trump.

You walked in shoes a lot different than Flynn is in.

And of course you can say whatever you want.

Old Lurker

My point stands, Jack.

Jim Eagle

daddy,

Cohen is going to serve 3 years in prison because he didn't give Mueller a binder full of Russians. Everyone so far that has been indicted or threatened, like Corsi and Stone, are the proverbial "ham sandwich" without Russian dressing.

This is almost as if Mack Sennet is still alive, and with the help of Mel Brooks, has written a play to rival "Springtime for Hitler". It is that comical, ruthless satire, and a history lesson. A history you don't want any side of.

GUS

What a loser.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

--I wonder where in the game it escalated to accusing you of criminal behavior.--

About square one. I don't mention all the times the cops came to my door to question me about some false accusation or the state DOJ, or the judge in our civil cases getting some false letter accusing me of criminal junk I never did, often not from my brother but from some puppet of his.

And contrary to your assertion I was attacked by my brother using the free money of a well endowed non-profit he controls as a front to take all my money and try to put me in jail.
So, what were you saying about shoes?

Old Lurker

So true "It is that comical, ruthless satire, and a history lesson. A history you don't want any side of."

It is a lesson for future historians, but of course VDH would say we have plenty of actual examples from our own human history to know how this play ends.

Tom R

And of course you can say whatever you want.

There is not a single person on this blog (now that DoT is gone) who has the right to make fun of the hard decision Gen Flynn had to make while serving his country and his CiC.

So we can say whatever we want unless we are making a point that stipulates all of the Mueller critics are correct about him being corrupt and then criticizing Flynn for not being courageous enough to fight back against the corruption?

OK, I didn't know those facts, Iggy. You know (because my sister = your brother) that I have felt your pain from the shoes you are wearing, but I did not know they were more like Flynn's than my own might be.

Reflecting, what really bugs me is knowing the huge difference from "rich" people who make big salaries, compared to "rich" people who have gazillions in assets and probably high incomes too.

Without having a lot of assets, what looks like a really big salary (even Jack's $300,000 for a MG) just does not go very far in certain circles and many cities. I had lunch yesterday with an old friend who recently retired as managing partner of a big firm I will not name. We were talking about EXACTLY this subject, and he wondered how even he or his partners could fund having their own firms represent them in a Flynn type thing, using just what is left as disposable income from their own $1M+ pay.

These white collar legal quagmires are to these folks what unknown asbestos or leaking underground tanks are in my business. Careful as we as developers, and rich as we might become, some lightning bolt from out of nowhere can wipe us all out. The plain fact of that keeps us awake at night.
