re state prosecution of Trump--- SchiffBomb was saying the prospect of jail time *after Trump leaves office* is "very real."

Ah. Admitted perjurer as only witness? Go back to GO, do not collect $200.

What happened to attorney-client privilege?
Is there any way to sanction prosecutors who use unauthorized disclosures in court? Looks like other defense attorneys would be up in arms, likewise the other 16 Repub candidates who may have been spied upon illegally.

basically it is Cohen's word against the president's re the payments. i doubt it goes anywhere.

Well it was Bill Allen's word against Ted Stevens and Ted Stevens was convicted in a heartbeat even though he was innocent so I'm not anywhere near as optimistic as I'd like to be. If I was Trump's Defense Atty during Jury selection the disqualifier question I'd ask is how many hours a week do you watch CNN, MSNBC and NPR. If the answer is anything other than "Zero" or "None" I'd call for disqualification.

Jane

Good point Daddy!

Jane,

Overall we did amazingly well what with no one having died and as JIB pointed out, already the road to the airport having being rebuilt, resurfaced and painted. Great work. A remaining problem is that out towards Eagle River, which apparently took a harder hit than what we did, some of the Public Schools have serious structural damage, so they are having to ship grade schoolers around to safe High School Buildings until they can figure out how to make their damaged schools safe again: Tens of thousands of Anchorage-area students return to school Monday after week-long quake break Thats gonna' be expensive.

And just my guess but the epicenter of the big quake and the thousands of aftershocks are precisely where the plans have been pushed for years to build a bridge over the Knik River from the Valley to Anchorage. My guess is this Earthquake has killed that project for good.

In a selfless effort to save the planet, Legoland theme parks are banning plastic straws. The 75 billion plastic bricks Lego sells annually, however, are here to stay.

The other day at LuLu's in Waikiki I started off with my traditional Bloody Mary (hold the celery) and when the bar maid handed it over I took a sip and thought, "That's odd, the taste is off." Turns out they had replaced their regular plastic straws with some Enviro approved cardboard paper straws. The guy next to me and I chatted about that since he was nursing one well before I came in and he said it reminded him of how as a kid when you'd eat Pixie Stix candy that by the end the straw candy container which was made of paper would be decaying from your having gummed it with your wet lips and bits of paper would be glommed onto the candy dust on your tongue. I thought it was a pretty good description so I started just drinking my BM without benefit (or lack thereof) from that taste deadening straw:(

Lib learns about uncaring Big Gov.

https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2018/12/wife_of_a_liberal_senator_gets_mugged_by_reality.html

Strand’s current owner, Nancy Bass Wyden, wife of Oregon senator Ron Wyden, is not letting her liberalism balance the books. “By landmarking the Strand, you can also destroy a piece of New York history. We’re operating on very thin margins here, and this would just cost us a lot more, with this landmarking, and be a lot more hassle,” Wyden told the Commission during a public hearing.

Wyden also took a shot at Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, owner of the great scourge of brick-and-mortar bookstores everywhere. “The richest man in America, who’s a direct competitor, has just been handed $3 billion in subsidies. I’m not asking for money or a tax rebate,” she explained, appealing not to the Commission’s egalitarian instincts, but to the principle of privacy. “Just leave me alone,” Wyden beseeched her would-be viceroys.

Did not know Trump had replaced Mick Mulvaney at that bogus CFPB Agency created by Liz Pocahontas Warner.

Here's Kim Strosell on with Paul Gigot on his WSJ Show on FOX just a minute ago discussing "Hits and Misses":

Kim Strossel: Paul, a "Hit" for the Republican Senate for confirming Kathy Kraninger, Trump's pick to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, 50 to 49. The CFPB has been under acting management by OMB Director Mick Mulvaney. Ms Kraninger worked for him, she shares his view that this is a rogue Agency that needs more transparency and smarter rules for protecting Consumers. This of course provoked an all out rebellion by Progressives against her, but the Republicans stood tall. This is going to be good for the economy overall.

Wyden’s desire to keep Strand not just a business but the business her father and grandfather worked painstakingly to create, and not just sell it off to Barnes & Noble or cede the reins to NYC’s historical designators, is admirable. It’s also revealing: As liberal as Wyden presumably is, she’s been mugged by reality...

Wyden also took a shot at Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, owner of the great scourge of brick-and-mortar bookstores everywhere. “The richest man in America, who’s a direct competitor...

I thought Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan made a movie about this.

Joe Fox : Well, let me ask you something. How can you forgive this guy for standing you up and not forgive me for this tiny little thing... of putting you out of business?
[Kathleen starts to cry]...

Joe Fox:
It wasn't... personal.

Kathleen Kelly:
What is that supposed to mean? I am so sick of that. All that means is that it wasn't personal to you. But it was personal to me. It's *personal* to a lot of people. And what's so wrong with being personal, anyway?

Joe Fox:
Uh, nothing.

Kathleen Kelly:
Whatever else anything is, it ought to begin by being personal.

I have spent many hours browsing the stacks at the Strand and love the place, because afterwards it's only a short walk with my bag full of books to McSorley's. Nice to see Lefties bitten by reality every once in a while.

Wonder if Ocasio Cortez has a comment as to if she's for Meg Ryan or Tom Hanks?

Cool bit o' Science speculation here:

ISRO, NASA just spotted a black hole spinning so fast that it could be making space itself rotate

...this particular black hole is spinning very close to the limit set by Albert Einstein's theory of relativity...That means it is spinning close to the speed of light.

Currently, scientists only have two ways of measuring black holes - either by their mass or by their spin rate. A spin rate can be anywhere between 0 and 1: this black hole was spinning at the rate of 0.9.

Einstein's theory further implies that if a black hole spinning that fast, then it is capable of making space itself rotate...

if the conditions around black holes are hypothesised to be correct, then the high spin rate coupled with the gaseous elements entering the black hole and high temperatures, could be the key to understanding how galaxies are formed...

Q: Did you think the particulars of that [the Clinton campaign funding the Steele dossier used to support the Carter Page FISA] were important to the FISA court?

COMEY: No, I wouldn't think so. It actually doesn't even seem important to me now.

Under this logic any FISA Warrant application, funded by anyone, and never verified by anyone, should be completely sufficient for a sign off by the requesting Official, and likewise completely sufficient for approval by any FISA Judge.

Worth mentioning I think how the late Dr K, big hearted and decent as he was, was instrumental in smacking down as kooks those who questioned the legitimacy of the FISA process. He was supremely confident in the FISA safeguards being waterproof, so that the issue was basically pushed off the table and those who brought it up were looked upon as tin-foil hat wearing fringists.

Back from the Big Apple last night. 160MPH headwinds Ito Phoenix, which sounds like the jet stream has dropped. Daddy. what's your take?

Matt,

I know it's been well south lately. Four nights ago I noticed that the Memphis Honolulu routing was over Mexico, and our boys were getting "feet wet" about a 3rd of the way down the Baja Peninsula. The following night when we did the Memphis Honolulu leg we went straight over LAX, then bent southwest to the Islands. That tells me on a daily basis it's flopping up and down between south and way south, since they route us to avoid those strong Jet Stream headwinds you ran into.

Surber at 05:33 reminds that Judge Emmet Sullivan is once again being given an opportunity to do the right thing:

Flynn's case goes before federal Judge Emmet Sullivan for sentencing in ten days. He threw out the Ted Stevens conviction after learning federal prosecutors failed to disclose exculpatory evidence to the senator's legal team.

I thought Flynn's sentencing was on the 11th, but regardless, with Judge Sullivan I'm like Dr Johnston's comment about the man who will entertain getting married for a second time:

Here's an Exit question for our Legal Beagles:

If the world was powered by Unicorn's and Rainbows, what would we hope to see from Judge Emmet Sullivan in the Flynn sentencing?

A total throwing out of the Case?

A demand for punishment for the Prosecutors in this Unethical Prosecution?

What particularly could Sullivan actually rule from the bench that would do justice to the accused and righteous punishment to the guilty?

Having seen the Judge in the Judicial Watch case ordering re-opening of the Hillary E-mail exoneration, I have fingers and toes crossed that Sullivan will borrow that judges balls when he sentences Flynn in the next few days. To the Library. later.

Over 5 1/2 hours from Newark to Phoenix . A long flight and then into the LBC.

Any prosecutor is going to have a problem with anything involving the perjurer Cohen. It may not stop some Upper West Side leftist, but any prosecutor in his right mind would think 3 or 4 times about getting Cohen in a deposition, much less on the stand.

If you're using Safari, that implies you're on an Apple platform. I'm on Windows and Android (which is Google), trying to avoid being tracked by Google. You're only being tracked by Apple, unless you're also using Chrome and logged in.
