i have read the following article but once. it occurred to me to ask you if this is fodder for the Mueller as White Hat theory?
It was pointed out when this news first surfaced months ago that Mueller's turning over the Podesta, Weber and Craig case to SDNY was the legally correct thing to do since it was outside the mandate of his SC appointment.
If Mueller were a Black Hat trying to protect the Deep State Swamp then wouldn't the corrupt course of action be to bury the evidence against the three men and not refer it to SDNY?
Well, in 1985 I cashed out my retirement account at ginormous research (about 20K$) to start our company. That mostly paid for a Motorola computer that ran Unix. (Did I mention that I hated MSquish even then.) Went public nine yrs later and sold out ten years after that. But nobody in their right mind would have encouraged that move at the time. BTW the Moto computer was substantially cheaper than equivalent Sun system. We did use used Sun terminals on it.
ABC News correspondents imagined President Trump’s vision for his own state funeral on Wednesday, joking about what the current president would expect compared to the services for George H. W. Bush.
“Probably a different tone in that funeral… first he’s going to choreograph it, so there might be more trumpets and fanfare,” ABC chief foreign correspondent Terry Moran said on the network's livestream of the Bush funeral.
ABC correspondent Devin Dwyer chimed in, “Yes, he would do it bigger, one would imagine.”
Moran then parroted what he imagined Trump would say, declaring his service would be “the best presidential funeral ever.”
“No one will ever have seen anything like that funeral,” Moran continued.
...
Political comedian Tim Young told Fox News that the comments are the latest example of a liberal bias in the media.
“It's in bad taste to joke about any of our current leader's future passing,” Young said. “But what this highlights again is the media outrage double standard where you can say basically anything you want about a Republican and get away with it.”
Young said that public reaction would be much different if the ABC News reporters joked about Obama's potential future funeral.
“There would have been full blocks of TV dedicated to 'how disgusting they were' on CNN and forced apologies from their own network,” Young said.

Excellent. I’ll go coconut first and save the avocado. I'm in with the avoid nightshade, too.
Sue, given my theory of the political pendulum swinging after the election back from Trump toward the Obama World, I would suggest Obama actually does get the credit.
I saw the David Goldman article earlier about the arrest of the Huawei CFO. Same day that Trump and Xi were making nice. Goldman wonders if it wasn't a rogue operation intended to poison the relationship and kill a trade deal.
Last week, police in India staged coordinated raids on shady tech support call centers. 100 officers descended on 16 different facilities. The raids resulted in the arrest of 39 individuals who had pretended to be employees of Microsoft, HP, Dell, Google, and even Apple to defraud victims overseas.
If Mueller were a Black Hat trying to protect the Deep State Swamp then wouldn't the corrupt course of action be to bury the evidence against the three men and not refer it to SDNY?
Why? Several referrals have been made to SDNY with ample evidence and SDNY has refused to prosecute. It's all sham coordinated between Mueller and his and his staff's former hunting grounds of the SDNY. Kabuki theater...

I love avocados. I slice 'em in half with a knife and dump the pit. Then I cut out a hunk and give it to Fry and he scarfs it down, and then I eat a hunk. Then I cut anther bit off and feed it to Nelson and he scarfs it down, and then I eat another hunk. Then I cut a bit off and I hand it too Scout and she sniffs at it and won't touch the damn thing, so I dump it on the floor and Fry and Nelson fight to get it, and that's fun to watch. Then I do the same routine a second time and I'm pretty much done.
I think the best combo for Avocado is to slice long thing hunks of it and layer it on either turkey or chicken breast sandwiches. Little mayo and pepper, and it's heaven.
What I am hearing about the stock market is that the growth of earnings is looking a lot less than it did six months ago, so a 10% correction is not surprising. Also, I was at a financial/banking conference this week and some very plugged-in people said they are worried about European debt problems affecting us, in addition to problems with China's capital markets.
Nice to see that Jack. It's been interesting to see what parts of the city have come through beautifully, and what parts haven't. I'm afraid these folks around Sand Lake/Jewel Lake will probably lose their homes: Quake-shaken Jewel Lake homes sink into sand
The Lake used to be called Sand Lank and I think it's about to reacquire it's old name:(
The Fed going full Derp State wild on interest rate hikes will have a negative impact on stock prices if you use the pre-Krugman method of valuing them.
OL, I agree that there are always five reasons after the fact. And the sixth is that the bankers are really freaked over the inverted yield curve. To me, it seems you need a magnifying glass to see the inversion. But the bankers see it as a sure fire recession sign.
If EU debt problems are a “worry” again, why is everyone piling into owning them again? Chinese financing, mostly done in 1 year paper, rolls over every New Year (Feb. 5, 2019) and the silly scramble to refi starts in the preceding November, a k a Now.
Both not meaningful.
No one wants to talk about automated trading, nor its “no money down” quant competition. That’s the source of market chop since Oct 1.

I never thought about the quake causing instability in a sand-based soil!
Miss M,
As I recall from the World Series Earthquake, the very trendy and expensive waterfront "Marina District" landfill area in San Fran got demolished in much the same way, and I recall them saying that that sandy soils becomes "liquified" during quakes and is the worst place to have built a structure on. Manny and Jack probably know more about that, but here's a pic and that was only a 6.9 Quake:
Momma and I hiked through that devastation about a week or so later and it was way worse than anything we've seen up in Anchorage.

SBW,
I love avocados.

I got a 4. On the bright side, I scored lower on a Chem midterm (or two).

Yep. Been there.

I got a 3, but the Rich and Old sliders were ambiguous and the score seemed sensitive to both, so who knows.
But my 3 is a bit closer to my Chem Score than Henry's 4.

Probably the luckiest guy in the earthquake was this guy driving his truck down the highway when a boulder fell off the cliff above him and smashed into his truck
The unluckiest is probably this guy from Eagle River who's house dropped about 15 feet: EAGLE RIVER MAN LUCKY TO BE ALIVE AFTER 7.0 EARTHQUAKE

OL, I agree that there are always five reasons after the fact. And the sixth is that the bankers are really freaked over the inverted yield curve. To me, it seems you need a magnifying glass to see the inversion. But the bankers see it as a sure fire recession sign.

from chitown lurker:
JohnS-
If EU debt problems are a “worry” again, why is everyone piling into owning them again? Chinese financing, mostly done in 1 year paper, rolls over every New Year (Feb. 5, 2019) and the silly scramble to refi starts in the preceding November, a k a Now.
Both not meaningful.
No one wants to talk about automated trading, nor its “no money down” quant competition. That’s the source of market chop since Oct 1.

Jimmy "I’d have thought being Jewish would lower my score,"
See. Being Episcopalian means we can pretend to be anything at all so we got better scores for that.

Need some dots connected?
Huawei made one big mistake. They should have paid off the Clintons before doing something like this.
They did. There are all kinds of links between the Clintons, Tony Rodham, McCauliffe and Huawei. Goes back years.
And guess who was a director of Huawei up until 2014?
Alexander Downer.

How can it be a crime for a foreigner, on foreign soil, to violate U.S. sanctions? Does anyone get that?
I understand that we can sanction individuals, freeze their U.S. assets, etc., but have them arrested in another country and extradited for trading with Iran?
There must be more to this story.

The Horde has been debating that: I think where Huawei ran afoul was sending US products to Iran.
