Horrific crimes like this is why Texas passed a ban on sanctuary city policies. We don’t want Texas to become a sanctuary for illegal immigrants like California. We insist on working with ICE to enforce the law & keep Texans safe. #txlege #ICE

Bub,
That’s an easy shot across the toll road just up 69 from the in-laws in the Fort of Fun. I always bring ammo. Like many here I purchase by the 1000s.

The MEDIA. The MFM. Has been portraying, the POLICE OFFICERS MURDER, in such a freakish and disgusting way, as to boggle the mind.
For example. "Trump is using the Police Officers death against ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION."
The FULL COMMIE, libtard, fully propagandized, miseducated LEFT, sees, an AMERICAN POLICE OFFICER, who is MURDERED on CHRISTMAS DAY, and MURDERED BY an ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT, and VIOLENT PREDATOR, as an OPPORTUNITY, to make POLITICAL STANCES, against the TRUTH.

Lincoln, of course, was a member of the House, as was Jefferson
Jefferson was Gov of Virginia during the Revolution after the House of Burgesses and Continental Congress.

Senator Truman (VP doesn't count) could only be rehabilitated decades later, but he did drop The Bomb, a respectable and effective executive decision.

Madison did his best work before his presidency, and he was SoS for Jefferson.

BREAKING: @Twitter has stopped translating #Hebrew Tweets.

I can confirm this. I noticed it yesterday but I thought maybe it was just a glitch.

Twitter is the Microsoft of social media.
It's just a big useless, awkward stinking pile.
Almost every aspect of it is counterintutive and/or backasswards and/or confusing.

Not long ago I watched a video that randown the skullduggery behind getting Henry Wallace pulled from FDR's last ticket. It's probably a really good thing that happened. It reminded me of the big climax in Meet John Doe but I don't know which one came first.

I'm surprised people aren't saying Truman was the first trans president. His mom used to tell him he was supposed to be a girl.

https://www.militarytimes.com/news/your-military/2018/12/28/syrias-military-says-it-entered-flashpoint-kurdish-held-manbij-us-troops-reportedly-still-there/

Sounds like the Syrian entry at Manbij is only symbolic for now, but it does serve as a deterrent to Turkey from attacking. Clearly Syria is saying to Turkey that is our problem, not yours.

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-mideast-crisis-syria-turkey-ypg/turkish-defense-ministry-says-ypg-has-no-authority-to-invite-others-to-manbij-idUSKCN1OR0UD

http://www.dailystar.com.lb/News/Middle-East/2018/Dec-28/472832-ypg-has-no-authority-to-invite-others-to-manbij-turkish-defense-ministry.ashx

"Turkey has no business in Manbij if YPG leaves: Erdogan" Even Erdogan sees the writing on the wall he's been outmaneuvered.

Did Trump really make a "surprise announcement?" Only Erdogan seems confused.

Narciso79

Manbij is in the Aleppo province which unlike Idlib is well inside Syrian territory, but few times have theh rebuffed Erdogan and when the info OP makes him think hes invincible which hes the farthest thing from.

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-mideast-crisis-syria-turkey/syrian-surprise-how-trumps-phone-call-changed-the-war-idUSKCN1OR0PW

This article seems to be reading my mind. This is not what Erdogan wanted. He wanted a free hand in Syria. Russia, Syria, France, the UK, etc. are saying stay out.

Payback for the MBS-Kashoggi shit sandwich that Turkey oversold?

I can't believe I gamed this out ahead of time.

Syria is saying no to a Kurdish autonomous zone, but without Syrian boots on the ground, the Kurds will continue to have that.

In terms of Syrian intentions, do they want to bring force to bear on the YPG if they don't have to or would they rather shift back to Idlib as the main Campaign aim for the moment? Let's not forget who has nominal control over Idlib - Turkey.

Narciso79

Well they want to keep Erdogan out because of the salafi/alawite Shia clash, they probably have no love for the kurd, however they dont want him meddling.

jim nj

Iggy,

You're a lumbrjack? I used to watch one of those TV shows on logging. Maybe on the History Channel. Looked to be as dangerous as the Alaska crab catching show except you got squashed instead of thrown overboard.

I will definitely stipulate that point. I’ve seen some insane things done/tried by loggers locally. One of my favorites was a crew that had a step ladder against a tree and two more extension ladders sort of roped to the tree higher up. We refer to them as Kentucky tree monkeys.

https://www.quantamagazine.org/mathematicians-disprove-conjecture-made-to-save-black-holes-20180517/

I hate black hole science. Maybe I'm too dense to understand it, but they describe behaviors, never the totality.

A black hole is infinitely dense, yet some continue to add to their mass with new material, so it's not infinitely dense because its' mass has increased. Is it more correct to say that black holes are approaching infinity of mass, but never get there?

Nothing escapes a black hole. Are we really sure of that? Visible light, yes, but more energetic light waves like x-rays?

Are black holes eternal or do they obey the laws of entropy like every thing else?

Last thought - black holes seem to be in the center of all galaxies, right? Why? They apparently have some gravitational effect. How, if nothing is able to escape the gravity of a black hole?

What is the limit of that apparent gravity well? How far out into a galaxy does it extend? And if it does, doesn't that suggest that the black hole isn't eternal, but is losing energy through its' gravitational effects?

Maybe I'm too dense to understand [black holes]

Stephanie,

Glad you had a laugh, It was the only word that came to mind.

AB,

That's my thinking. "Thought" experiments are fine. I'd like some "facts."

The idea that gravity goes from normal to infinite at the event horizon puzzles me. Gravity abruptly ends at the event horizon? Then why are black holes at the center of galaxies? That suggests the gravity effects extend further, which suggests that black holes lose energy.

We have aircraft on earth that defy gravity temporarily. Could a star-ship with sufficient energy escape a black hole?

The million or so law-abiding gun owners selected option 6) ignore the law and defy its enforcement.

The 180-day period expired on December 11, and not a single magazine has been turned in to any local law-enforcement agencies. The penalty for being found in possession of one of the newly offending magazines is stiff: It’s a felony, with punishment consisting of up to 18 months in jail, and up to $10,000 in fines, or both. When gun-hating liberals in the Colorado enclave known to some as “the Peoples’ Republic of Boulder” passed a law banning possession of “assault weapons,” “high-capacity” magazines, and “bump stocks” last May, gun owners reacted similarly.

The Space flyby on New Years Day of that Ultima Thule object in the Kuiper Belt sounds exciting, and this little bit of logic from the story makes great sense:

Ultima's nearly circular orbit indicates it originated at its current distance from the Sun. Scientists find its birthplace important for two reasons. First, because that means Ultima is an ancient sample of this distant portion of the solar system. Second, because temperatures this far from the Sun are barely above absolute zero — mummifying temperatures that preserves Kuiper Belt objects — they are essentially time capsules of the ancient past.

How stupid not to have thought of that.

The New Horizons spacecraft is on course to fly by Ultima on New Year's Day, Jan. 1, at 12:33 a.m. EST. For a listing of flyby programming and where to watch it online, visit the New Horizons website
