Once again we have faced fear and fled.
I said many months back that (assuming Mueller comes up empty on Russian collusion, as seems likely) the Fed was the last institution standing between Trump and a glide path to re-election based on a strong economy.
Buckle up! That glide path looks a lot less assured right now. Plan B - a quick mini-recession or growth pause starting, like, yesterday and ending quickly - is problematic because the perception of recovery generally lags the reality, as Bush 41 found out in 1992. Of course, back then the media was happy to play along with Bill Clinton, who claimed the economy was in the worst shape since the Depression. And they will play along with the Democrats this time around, for obvious and timeless reasons.
I've been warning a long time a large reckoning is coming and trump's reliance on the Dow and unemployment was not likely to last.
If he's lucky it will be short and deep like Reagan's so the rebound is strong.
I hope I'm wrong but the debt overhang and bad monetary policy overhang and associated asset bubbles and length of the current lethargic recovery don't bode well.

Willowed HOF zombie:
Ace is dancing on the Weekly Standard's grave, then pulling down his pants and shitting on it, then digging up the magazine's corpse and using a lipstick to draw grotesque clown faces on its lifeless head, then eating a picnic next to the empty grave with the dolled-up corpse as an unwitting participant, playing tea party games with it, then skullfucking the corpse in an empty eye-socket, and leaving it out in the open for the hyenas to devour in the night.

I believe many of us have been more than patient with him and his repetitious arguments.
His comment stating that we are “bitching and moaning” is another way to diminish our right to our opinion which is different than his.
We want concrete results and will accept Accurate knowledge when it is presented and real action results.
Until then I cast a measured look at all new information and will wait for positive for real results.
This is how I operate.
Hearing breathless proclamations of impending news or or real consequences happening and then nothing has made me wary of getting ecstatic before the actual indictment or punishment has been handed down.
I no longer read Tea leaves.

Re: the Townhall article "Wanted: New Conservative Fighters" posted by Miss M above, the left uses street fighter tactics while the GOP is still stumbling around wishing that the President would follow the Marquess of Queensbury rules.
The President's little dialogue with Nancy and Chuck in the Oval Office showed them his technique for mixing it up with a recalcitrant enemy. During that meeting, one could tell by watching the more traditional Vice President Mike Pence how uncomfortable this makes establishment Republicans.
Politics will never go back to the niceties of Senate protocols and referring to "my friend across the aisle." In any event, it won't in the foreseeable future especially if the Republicans intend to win. The question remains, do they? Or would they all prefer to return to the status quo ante and the comfortable back benches while the promise of America fades away?

NO early voting, or voting by mail, at all. Except for absentee voting only with a documented medical reason, signed by an actual doctor under penalty of perjury.
NO electronic voting - paper ballots, counted on site just like in the old days, with a representative of each party in the room at all times.
Anyone who opposes those things opposes fair and honest elections, right?

No, I don't remember it. In 1959 I was 11 and not much interested in pop music. My mother had us outdoors as much as possible (there were 5 of us) and the only pop music I heard was whatever they put on "Your Hit Parade."

Those documents were just filed. There is no 302 of the interview.
The document (Attachment A to the filing) dated 24 January 2017 was the letter from McCabe. That document is missing pretty much all of the standard formatting and marking requirements that the US government has for official government correspondence.
I'm looking forward to seeing how the judge responds to this failure to comply with this directive.
Posted by: Tom R | December 14, 2018 at 04:29 PM
Here again is Jim Comey telling us in 2010 how he expects his FBI Agents to ethically conduct themselves during investigations: FBI Agent 'Severely Disciplined' for Misconduct in Ted Stevens Case, Director Says
Comey told Murkowski that he would look into reaching out to Joy, and that his law enforcement agency's response went beyond dealing with the individuals involved.
"On top of that, we pushed out refresher training to the entire workforce, especially about our discovery obligations and how we expect them to conduct themselves during those investigations. So, both broad remedial work was done, and individual discipline was imposed for the agent involved," he said.
Now that ought to be laid beside the exact particulars of the Flynn Interview, McCabe's E-Mail on how to trick Flynn, Comey being briefed on that interview within 24 hours or so, and Comey's public statements this week on how exuberantly delighted he was in orchestrating how to deceitfully ensnare Flynn.
For me that divergence between what Comey preaches as the rules and practices as the rules are big enough to drive an aircraft Carrier through. His violation of his own FBI rules should damn the investigation, but the ball is in Judge Sullivan's Court now, so it's all up to Emmet now.

McCabe: “He stated that I probably knew what was said.”
Yet they were able to get him to plead guilty to lying to two schmucks from the FBI. What was the lie, anyway? Was it about the conversation with Kilsyak or something else?
Posted by: Extraneus | December 14, 2018 at 04:50 PM
My point on Judge Sullivan above is that he already has all the input he needs to make his decision. He knows how they acted and he knows how they know they are supposed to act, and he knows the two are 180 degrees out. He doesn't need anymore of this, he doesn't need any more of that, he doesn't need any more oral arguments, he doesn't need blah, blah, blah. It's all there, sitting right in front of him. He has what he needs to make the correct decision.
We out here in flyover land are looking at the big TV Monitor replay. We see it all, whether it's Grayson Allen of Duke intentionally tripping some opposing player, or Mike Tyson biting off HolyField's ear, or Tanya Harding's boyfriend in the back room pounding on Nancy Kerrigan's knee with a hammer. We see it all.
Time for the correct decision, Emmet. Make it, or live in ignominy for the rest of American History.
