John Schroeder
Compares, in a fashion, the media with the upper class of Downton Abbey.
"The great story arc of the series was the slow encroachment of genuine reality on their pampered and dependent lives."
What dos the media most depend upon? Readers and viewers. How does it lose that market? By not being truthful. When its' reality no longer matches that of the populace.
Most of the media, with some exceptions, is dead to us here.
What if a cascade of stories goes against their narrative? It might be fun if it starts with Sullivan on the 18th.

WaPo has not reported that bombshell information, and Miller himself did not reveal the detail in his recent book, “The Apprentice: Trump, Russia, and the Subversion of American Democracy.” It is unclear why.

It should be pretty easy at this point to figure out why the WAPO buried the information.

Your comment:Science is organized common sense where many a beautiful theory was killed by an ugly fact,
I learned a similar phrase about 50 yrs ago that was attributed to Franklin: there is nothing as heartbreaking as a beautiful theory murdered by a gang of brutal facts.
Knowing how common misattributions are these days, I can appreciate that either one could be wrong.

Tom R your better argument is why was this sentencing delayed twice from Flynn's perspective. It just increases billable hours. Somehow I feel that Trump has orchestrated all of this and wanted the timing right before end of year. Last year, the tax cuts approved the tax cuts right before Christmas. This year he will do the wizard of OZ thing and the whole Mueller investigation will have the curtain pulled away on Tuesday. Then the dems will have no further agenda since impeachment basically off the table.

Hi Rich,
I was aware of most of those incidents cited in the report, but it was interesting to see it all in one place.
I think the support for Hamas and Hezbollah was indirect. Most likely Iran deciding to support the missile efforts of Hamas and Hezbollah, or re-shipping NK small arms to the two.
Were I working on the NK de-nuclearization issue I would also want access to their intelligence. During the process to show good faith or after for a fuller understanding.

Boatbuilder question on suing the go fund me for Flynn is basically the distillation of the conservative versus liberal mindset and the distinction between the rule of law which Rosenstein always harps on versus the we don't need no stinkin' badges crowd.
This was in full view in the fiasco of the supposed whistleblower's testimony last Thursday that Meadows chaired. The two guys looked like Sargent Friday just the facts Mam.Clinton Foundation did not file for expansion of mission other that library even to a conservative like me and you not a big deal which can be done retroactively.
However more to point Clinton's only spent about 20% on charitable work and res was for travel and leisure expenditures, and basic pay to play. But the Clintons are such nice people in comparison to the scheme where the homeless guy allegedly gave his last $20 to the lady who ran out of gas.
See since Clinton actually did some charity work and were not merely skirting the law we will allow them non profit status as well as read intent into her setting up her own server which even if you were brain dead would have given the intuition that the server was to avoid FOIA requests.
The Dems trotted out a professor who wrote the non profit laws under LOIS Lerner while working for IRS and had seen no evidence of bias against conservative groups in getting 501c3 and 501 c4 status. Of course he wrote an oped that Trump Foundation have violated law but since on short notice could not provide details. Of course his op ed most probably was also devoid of facts.
So there you have it dems are good people so we will twist the rules and laws to their benefit and Trump and us deplorables since we seem to be selfish /nationalistic are bad people so we have to be punished in which ever way possible,

JIM_NJ, I have always thought that TRUMP is playing Chess and Risk at the same time. No one talking about Russian buildup on border of Ukraine or sending two nuclear capable planes to Venezuela and the deterioration of much of Venezuela and Cuba, or Israel taking out the Hezbollah tunnels. The fights with the dems are petty in regard to the geo political strategy that is playing out. If there are yellow vests in France and Europe what do you expect the response in IRAN and China to be with US sanctions and China factories closing up shop.

Jean Shepherd, the radio storyteller, was popular among kids my age when growing up because he was a great story teller.
One night he did a gag where he spoke very softly and urged his listeners to put their radios on the windowsill because he wanted to say something to the world.
And then he went on in a very loud voice with a rant.
The fun part was hearing the echoes from all the radios on windowsills.

"How many other respectable institutions and individuals are in the same position? How many are stronger than they think and could weather the outrage cycle simply by saying: Twitter outrage isn't real outrage; Twitter shame isn't real shame. This medium only has power if we choose to believe it does. But we know who and what we are, and we're going to keep being who and what we are, and will trust our own good judgment to prevail not only in the fullness of time, but in time to keep us solvent."
Interesting, if you ignore Twitter, does it just go away? Is it powerful only because we think it's powerful?

"Media critics like Adam Johnson of Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting (FAIR) have pointed out that early campaign coverage is often an absurd tautology. We get stories about how so-and-so is the “presumptive frontrunner,” but early poll results are heavily influenced by name recognition. This, in turn, is a function of how much coverage a candidate gets.
Essentially, we write the most about the candidate we write the most about."
If the press doesn't write about you don't show up in the poll surveys, yet if you show up in the poll surveys the press has to write about you.
The Democratic 2020 primary run is going to be very stupid if so.

I really hadn't thought about this before, but in wishing that Judge Sullivan throws out the Flynn plea and sets him lose are we hoping that this begins the counter-attack.
I mean we've been waiting for Trump to go on the offensive for quite some time. And he hasn't. He has been fighting a rear guard action.
If there is a strategy to fight back, as we all wish, is this the trigger, or just another disappointment?

Posted by: jim nj | December 17, 2018 at 04:29 AM
Good morning!
I spend time reading various Twitter users and web sites which theorize about the goings on in DC, so Tom R doesn't bother me at all. In fact, I have my own set of theories one of which I have brought up before and I still think is close to the truth.
A week or so before Benghazi, there were rumors that the Blind Sheik was going to be released. (This was the guy who organized the first attack on the World Trade Center, which was a terrorist bombing.) Obama had used the exchange of prisoners in the Bowie Bergdahl case.
The goal, of course, was not to get Bergdahl back but to release the 5 terrorists we had at Gitmo. Bergdahl was the excuse.
I think he was going to do the same thing with the ambassador and his assistant and use them as the excuse to release the Blind Sheikh. No one told those CIA guys, though.
So when the embassy came under attack, those guys went to try help. The "kidnappers" heard the shots and thought they were being double crossed, so they ended up killing the ambassador in revenge.
This explains why Hillary went off to some event, Obama went to bed, and no one did anything. It also explains the stand down order.
When it turned out Stevens and the others were dead, they had to come up with an excuse, and the best they could do was that lame video story. It also explains why the FBI didn't go over and go through the ruins, and why Philippe Reines, Hillary's assistant, went nuts when CNN found Stevens' diary.
So, that's my theory. Hopefully it won't set anyone off.

jim nj,
Nope. Doesn't bother me. When Reines went off on CNN for picking up the diary in the rubble, Ace of Spades happened to see Reines' reaction, which was way over the top. He accused them of passing it around in their offices to entertain themselves.
That is what got me to thinking, and when Obama did the Bergdahl exchange it gave me the idea.
And you are right, we will never know, unless there are classified records that are released.

MM,
I've been posting articles about the schismatic split from the Russian Orthodox Church by the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
It's a big deal, but it also has the approval of the Orthodox leader in Constantinople.
Clergy in Ukraine who continue to align with Russia can now be considered apostates.
The Greek or Eastern Orthodox Church in Constantinople is the recognized leader of all Orthodox.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_Orthodox_Church
"The Moscow Patriarchate′s traditional rivalry with the Patriarchate of Constantinople led to the ROC′s non-attendance of the Holy Great Council that had been prepared by all the Orthodox Churches for decades.
The Holy Synod of the ROC, at its session on 15 October 2018, severed full communion with the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. The decision was taken in response to the move made by the Patriarchate of Constantinople a few days prior that effectively ended the Moscow Patriarchate′s jurisdiction over Ukraine and promised autocephaly to Ukraine, the ROC′s and the Kremlin′s fierce opposition notwithstanding."
So Ukraine is in communion with the rest of the Orthodox faith, but the Russian Orthodox Church is now a stand alone faith tied to no one else, except Putin.

MM,
It removes Russian influence over Ukrainian clergy. It's a big deal.
In the propaganda wars the Russiophile remainders of Ukrainian Orthodoxy are apostates or in need of Russian intervention.
It's kind of like the battle over control of the Sea of Azov, only more elemental.
If the Ukrainian clergy adopt this schism and those behind Russian lines don't it becomes not just a political war, but a religious one as well.

Peter-that is so good to hear after your worries from his orientation last summer.
Love Oxford and Blenheim Palace is close by. When we went they were filming Mel Brooks' History of the World Part 2 there and pretending it was versailles. They had guillotine erected and extras costumed as irate peasants and they moved them around each of the 4 sides of the platform. Apparently then they merge the film so it looks like the crowd was on all 4 sides when in the filming they were never on more than one side at a time.
My intro to filming tricks. If he does get to go make sure he plans to go punting. Nice memory and scenery.

Before LTG Flynn is sentenced on Wed, it's worth noting that the man is a genuine hero, having jumped off a 40-ft cliff to rescue 2 drowning soldiers in Grenada as an Army Ranger & pulling 2 children out from rolling car in R.I. as a teen & earning Bronze Stars in Iraq & Afghan

obsessed and chased by a ferocious beast,
and all around him are the green meadows."

"Plus I'm too old to go chasing those things like a reprobate."
this is why, were i ever to be elected to the highest office of this Great Land, you-- Captain Hate, would be my Press Secretary
(and should you balk, i'd win your consent with a lifetime pipeline from St. Adarius to your humble abode in DC and Clevetown ;).
further, i'd personally cast your podium with a desktop name thingy to read: "Captain Hate- Deal With It."
mah mang!

The DEDUCTIBLE which comes with ObamaCare is so high that it is practically not even useable! Hurts families badly. We have a chance, working with the Democrats, to deliver great HealthCare! A confirming Supreme Court Decision will lead to GREAT HealthCare results for Americans!

MM @ 4:56
I think your theory is as likely as anything else.
And since Obama and Clinton and the MSM did nothing but lie about Benghazi (and everything else), and since all the "good guys" in the federal government kept their heads down and their mouths shut and kept collecting paychecks rather than challenge the lies, all we can do is theorize about what the truth was.
So I will believe the worst, most damning possible explanation, because there is no good reason to believe anything but that, given the people involved.

Anytime you hear a Democrat saying that you can have good Boarder Security without a Wall, write them off as just another politician following the party line. Time for us to save billions of dollars a year and have, at the same time, far greater safety and control!

James D,
It's a theory that fits with their behavior. No evidence, of course, but I am not afraid to say I think it is typical behavior.

So, that's my theory. Hopefully it won't set anyone off.
Since this is the same theory that Admiral James Lyons, shortly after Benghazi, posited. And Judicial Watch and Corsi pursued for some time, I would say you are in good company, MM.
It didn't set me off then, so it certainly won't now.
That is how Birthers roll. :-)
