Well what gets me is that we already have this:
Father of Deceased Migrant Girl Says Border Patrol Did All They Could...Guatemalan Consul Tekandi Paniagua tells CNN’s @edlavaCNN he met extensively with the father of 7-year-old Jakelin Caal Maquin Friday night in El Paso. Paniagua says the father of Jakelin has “no complaints about how Border Patrol agents treated him and his daughter.”
Yet we have reporters who travel all those thousands of miles away to Guatemala, dig up the distant relatives, yet somehow neglect to tell them what the father on location has already concluded about the situation. Instead they happily play this story as their lead:
CNN: Thousands of miles away, grieving family wants to know how 7-year-old girl died in US custody
It never ends.

When I was in 3rd grade at The Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, in Southampton, our biggest brouha-ha was not for class President but who got honors to pick first for the baseball game. Not only that but my best friend Al, who owns one of our large plumbing companies, complained that the batt had a Richie Ashburn grip and it allowed me to cover the butt end and win the first pick.
By the way, we won that game because we only had one ball, and after my other friend Eddie hit a homerun over the fence, some guy's dog grabbed it and ran away with it. 5-3 no ball.

Why would they want to? Probably are Episcopalian already.
Kev, very few of the staff or students of a modern Friends School are members of the Religious Society of Friends. The ratio has declined since the 1960’s to where the label “Friends” has no meaning beyond private any longer. By the 90s, proto SJWs adopted a cartoon version of our beliefs focused on “pacifism” and “unanimous consent” that have nothing to do with tending the inner light of our fellows. I saw it in grad school when the Organizational Behavior department PhD students set up a field trip to the Cleveland Meeting House. I was in that seminar, but refused to go... the prof (from India) was not pleased when I exposed her crapola.

JiB, your story reminds me.
we had park ball games across the street from where i grew up in Califas. during the summer the games would go on "tied" for days.
we learned that if a dog ran off with the ball, we'd be chasing that sumbeench all day to get it back.
also learned that dog spit can dissolve old threads in just a few hours of chase. first batter to connect, once play was restored, would make that cover splat like a banana's peel.
good times.

Thanks, Jack, for the Raj recommendations--I will look at them but more to the point I will make sure they were all on Rachel's lists (grad lists she had to read--if she's missing something good, I need to make sure she knows about them).
As for "Oh brother"--the comma or the non-comma is entirely a question of what effect the writer is after. I think it registers disgust better without the comma (appropriate disgust here, since we're talking about boys having periods, which they don't, and the prevailing cultursmog pressure to pretend they do) .

and, 2) this sounds like a finding from a Hillary or Obama focus group in March 2016---
"Some research has reported that being overconfident while participating in a group activity did not damage the person’s reputation.
Individuals who had acted confident about their task performance, but were later revealed to be worse at the task than they had claimed, did not suffer a severe drop in their social status in the group relative to someone who had been well-calibrated.
The researchers concluded that “the status benefits of overconfidence outweighed any possible status costs”.

Short answer, narciso--I don't. Her advisor and the other committee members matter here, and they would just be glad of my pointing out any factual problems, which I'll do if I find any, but really they are judging it as a work of art (which of course I am also totally competent to judge, but that's not really why I'm there, though they'll listen to me, if I have any issues--my colleagues are actually great if you don't talk politics with them, which I never do). Sorry for the muddled writing.

If the proper recourse of the justice system is inop, what may we be allowed to use as a signal to know if now is the time? If not now, when?--
