From gloom to boom on Wall Street - Dow up 800 on a huge jobs report and placatory comment from Fed chair Powell.

Republican Sen. Ted Cruz and Republican Rep. Francis Rooney proposed a Constitutional amendment on Thursday that would impose term limits on members of both houses of Congress.
I'm for it but only if we add a clause that mandates term limits on how long any Congressional aides and/or any Federal Bureaucrats can hold any Federal Job---and lets also put in qualifiers mandating Term Limits on Journalists. And Teachers---no more tenure.

It's no Watson. I wonder what IBM will do with that, btw. They sold voice recognition to Nuance in 2009, which I believe is the licensed technology behind all of the voice thingies we interact with now. They worked on that for a long time and ultimately sold it cheap. They've been working on Watson for a long time, too. Probably more hype than real, but I'd bet it's the best of the AI contenders at the moment.
I have an Alexa in Southampton home I have never used. In fact, it sits under the TV un connected. Don’t have one in Florida. Will not share my privacy with Bezos. NSA is a poor competitor.
Further on Walker, his last campaign was giving tax breaks to a Fortune 500 paper company to keep a profitable plant near Green Bay operating (yeah, they found a mark), and pandering via tax breaks to parents with children instead of everyone. Why the f*** would I vote for any of that lame Schiff?
Video of Trump explaining he can declare a national emergency and build the wall if he wants to, but he is giving negotiation a chance
He's a nutcracker of a negotiator. All those stupid assholes that claimed they got stiffed by him that the MFM credulously lapped up were just numbnuts who didn't deliver per terms of the contract. Pelosi and Schumer may as well bend over and start crying.
Phil Valentine is talking about the Democrat's New Green Deal which is the same old deal of government debacles. There was a company called Hemlocjk Semiconductors of all things that blew over a billion dollars on a plant outside Clarksville, TN. They convinced Austin Peay to offer a diploma program and promised graduates high paying jobs. It was pretty much a scam.
You know your political territory better than I, but I think Jim in Sunnyvale's comment about people seeing zero push back or consequences for the John Doe Lawbreakers after 4 or 5 years, is huge. That I think is the most frustrating part about all of this. I'll go so far as to say that if tomorrow we read about Mueller's dirty dog prosecutor Weismann(sp) getting his head blown off there'd be millions of American's saying "About damn time one of those C********er's got what was coming to them." I know that's what I'd be seeing, even as I considered going thru the tsk tsk motions.
Since Foxconn is increasing capacity in India does that mean they could pull a Hemlock in WI? I was going to say scotch the deal but it would be more like Indian Giving.
Re: Walker, I think this is so huge as a reason for his defeat:
1) He never went after the people who attacked the conservative activists. Punishment of evil doers was slow and meager. Yet the attacks were like something you'd expect of a totalitarian nation.
He sat on his hands while the people who volunteered for him were terrorized. The ones who did the terrorizing are still drawing taxpayer-funded salaries. Why would anyone support him when he made it clear he’s not interested in defending, or at least avenging, them after they put their hearts and time and money on the line for him?
Pin, Foxconn just bought another building in Racine. I think they are in, even DBag elect Evers is rolling back expectations that he’ll unleash the eco/left on them.
Daddy, if the John Doe was the issue, Leah Vukmir would have out polled Walker. It went the other way. (Not that I am happy about any of that).
James D, beyond all that, what was his next term about? Reigning in excess government? Sadly it became clear he was a classis model UM make government work better guy, not the fire breathing get rid of government guy he got national credit for being. The lack of pushback on John Doe is but one symptom of his GOPe disease.
'PG&E already went through bankruptcy a few years ago. It's essentially an arm of the CA government already and our energy costs are already sky high so how much worse can it get?'
I heard today PG&E is lookingo sell the gas unit. 12-15 billion to cover their legal costs for wildfires the last two years. They're gonna get gored in Cali cours.
I don't know who'd generate electricity in Cali if it doesn't involve wind mills, solar panels and unicorn farts.
Anyone who buys the gas unit is gonna grab it for assets and then dismantle what's left and move it elsewhere.
Good luck getting 10 Billion.
Just wait till you pay for all your electricity without the gas portion of PG&E which they used to get rid of electricity from 'Evil Coal'.
Brownouts. That's what Cali is looking at as they go forward. Last time I think the blamed it 'market mainpulation'. Maybe the 'Crooked E' got them.
Since that time the population has grown, needs more electricity and they've continued to dismantle their 'on demand' electrical generation from fossil sources. All the while cracking down on the reliable fossil sources.

Read just a few of the comments by the "lifelong Republican" WaPo readers (no, really) to see what a fools errand this is.
And now of course the MSM line will be about the "turmoil" in the party--of which there is very little other than that foisted by the Flakes, Romneys, Rick Wilsons and Max Boots who get amplified by the WaPo.
Hint: When Trump tweets, neither the WaPo nor the NYT gains any credence or makes any money as a purportedly legitimate forum for reasoned debate.

Friday night back from dinner and so bored I just watched a Cali Car chase that started in Chino and ended up in Anaheim and the ending was a whiff... no dog bites, no pit maneuver, nothing. I feel cheated!
I meant to point out re the trial in the kingdom, like glen Garry glen Ross, the penalty for failure (and letting them catch the team on video qualifies) is a set of steak knives.
Anyways there a series by va Stewart about the Brits in the Crimea that I'm taking a look at.
There is this lesser known war film in harm's way, directed by otto preminger, based on a novel by James Bassett ikes press spokesman with John Wayne Burgess meredith and Henry Fonda a rather gritty look at the south Pacific conflict in the early 60s
A careful read shows that this belated win hands the Republicans control of the House, but further on in the article it says we already have some turncoats who have decided to become independents and caucus with the Dems. Why the hell they want to do that beats the heck out of me. Maybe it's the water on the Left coast.
Maybe when I retire I will be able to keep up more but I've been seriously out of the loop on local stuff for at least the last 2 months. Current temp, 3 F.

Jiminsunnyvale,
Re Walker: he ran out of big ideas, and globally left went full bore.
Beyond that:
1. Lawfare allowed “vote harvesting” by weakening voter ID (softer student ID standards) and extending early voting in blue hell’s bs rest of state.
2. Exhaustion of R activists. 5 votes including recalls over 8 years... just too damn much.
3. Massive Steyer / Holder / Union spending and vote harvesting (is dragging people to early vote).

I think privacy is a good topic for discussion here. I know many of us don't want to be tracked by Google, et al.
When you search, if you're logged in and they can track you, they have that forever. Whatever you ever searched on, forever.
Chrome, when logged into your Google ID, is the penultimate in giving up privacy. Gmail in addition to Chrome is the ultimate.

It's almost like he's mentally ill or something.

I meant to point out re the trial in the kingdom, like glen Garry glen Ross, the penalty for failure (and letting them catch the team on video qualifies) is a set of steak knives.
Anyways there a series by va Stewart about the Brits in the Crimea that I'm taking a look at.

Here's a pleasant headline:
Alaska Supreme Court upholds 1-vote recount result for Fairbanks House seat
A careful read shows that this belated win hands the Republicans control of the House, but further on in the article it says we already have some turncoats who have decided to become independents and caucus with the Dems. Why the hell they want to do that beats the heck out of me. Maybe it's the water on the Left coast.
