Kev,

Somebody spotted that cookie jar the day she made her "I'll get me a beer" announcement. I will bet it was someone who deals in antiques and collectibles. They knew it for what it was right away but it looks to me like they have searched for an enlarged photo.

No one will ask her about it, though.

Put this in your joe this morning: (from comments section of that 814a re Mitch)

"warrprin1 says:
January 5, 2019 at 1:20 am
Citizen Rallies, folks. There is one scheduled tomorrow (Sat., 1/5) in Missouri. I don’t know how much of a crowd it will attract without the presence of PDJT, but it is a start.

The governing Uniparty does not believe that we will act on our own to save our Republic. I am advocating for peaceful demonstrations, in 50 states, in the manner of the Tea Party, before Turtle & Co (Conspirators) neutered the movement in both Houses of Congress. We did not recognize the depth or the breadth of the Dem-Rep-CoC-DS entanglements, or their desperation to protect the machine, at all cost. Now we do.

I do not agree with some recent posts that are calling for violence as the first response. Rather, we must marshall a genuine, populist, peaceful show of massive numbers in plain sight, and intelligently equipped to defang the next snake strike of the bastards – the way they derailed the Tea Party effort..

It is best to throw the enemy off balance while they remain certain that we will do nothing more than blow off steam online. We need to launch our own response, regardless of the winter season, and in spite of a weather forecast that calls for a half inch of snow, regardless of school schedules or semester final exams, regardless of our kids’ athletic commitments, regardless of everything except keeping the youngsters safe and the bills paid. We can, and must, become weekend warriors in the truest sense of the term.

When I think back to the activity on the National Mall on January 21, 2017, and the mob ignorance that willingly put itself on display that day – with the stupid pussyhats and the threats of violence against our newly inaugurated President D. J. Trump, it makes my blood boil. If those idiots were capable of marshaling the forces of social networking for that purpose, can we not do better?

Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness: not the guarantee of equal outcomes, but the right of every individual to aspire and achieve according to his / her own gifts and efforts – this is what our Founders battled for and won. We have a sacred duty to re-secure, protect, and preserve this blessed Legacy for our grandchildren. Our children are in this minefield with us. Some of them have already turned against us.

If we, here, mobilize ourselves, in place of wringing our hands, we can start a new movement to dethrone the cockroach kings and queens that currently infest the Corridors of our Republic. Our President needs to see us assembled outdoors, in public spaces, in the winter weather, by the thousands, where we have The Right to Assemble. If we are denied permits by local political flunkies, then we’ll defy those authorities – peacefully, but without budging. If they bring out the police with loaded guns, we will remind them of the Kent State “4 dead in Ohio”.

I am a grandmother of six. I am a retired public high school foreign language teacher. Kids have been my whole life. I will not allow these unindicted felons, who have been elected to serve us honestly and faithfully, to steal my incomparable United States os America Constitutional Republic from me or my descendants.

I will do my part in purple PA. We need to begin in seriousness now. Please discuss this with your contacts on social media as well as with local kindred spirits. Until tonight, CTH is the only place I have posted. Against my reluctance to Tweet or post elsewhere, I will change that position and engage in other forums where thousands gather. This cause may be the most worthy thing each of us ever accomplishes in our lives. Now, I’m going to put my money where my mouth is and sign up for the local self-defense and weapons safety courses that I promised my husband I would complete.

Surber is right that the enlarged picture has a purple background. However, in his article he posts a link to one from the Boston paper showing the one in her kitchen and you can enlarge it enough to see that it is, indeed, the same type. Surber says they sell for $55 on eBay.

The Democrats could solve the Shutdown problem in a very short period of time. All they have to do is approve REAL Border Security (including a Wall), something which everyone, other than drug dealers, human traffickers and criminals, want very badly! This would be so easy to do!

Jimmy, VPNs are an improvement in privacy to be sure, and help particularly when using public networks (e,g. at a Starbucks or an airport) in avoiding packet interception. But mostly you’re just moving the trust issues to your VPN provider. The machines still need to know where to route your packets to/from, all that’s happening is an anonymization.

Doesn’t help with cookies left/read by sites nor scripts that sites send to run on your machine. This is the basis of most tracking.

Websites are getting smarter at detecting things like VPN usage, and can refuse to work on your machine. (Netflix actively searches for VPN usage as it’s one of the ways its users have evaded geographic restrictions on content.)

If you buy from Amazon or use Alexa services, Amazon’s data-gathering is built in - there’s no avoiding it. And Google has purchased bits of web infrastructure - like that used to monetize sites like JOM - that provide some diversity in how they can track.

Net, VPN good, but still need to block cookies, run ad-blockers and script-blockers.

Walmart used to carry a lemon lime drink that I used to swill down in large quantities before type 2 dictated a soft drink free existence (and don't even think of coming at me with that diet crap), that tasted kind of like grapefruit and my aged brain can't recall the brand name (Walmart no longer carries it; maybe my dropping it drove them out of bidness). Canada Dry used to have a grapefruit drink that tasted like less diluted Squirt. Tom Collins mix tasted great too.

Chris Bedford's Essay on the "Breaking of the NeverTrump Mind" is a Helluva Read
Most recommended.
I don't think the NeverTrump cucks understand the most important thing here: They seem to think all they have to do is undermine Trump until Democrats can beat him in the courts or at the ballot box, and then they get their Phony-Baloney Jobs back of conning us for their corporate masters. Here's the thing: No. You've made it clear you despise us and hold us in even lower regard than Hillary Clinton does. And if we haven't made it sufficiently clear: For our part, we hate you more than we hate Democrats. The Democrats are mere opponents in political war; you are saboteurs, betrayers, and traitors. We will never permit you a place of power again. And we will gladly vote Democrat -- just like you taught us to do! -- to defeat the next Neocon Corporate Shill you put up, be it Marco Rubio or Nikki Haley or John Katshit. We hate your fucking guts and will gladly slit our own wrists to spill blood on your white carpets. You are worse than dead to us -- you're malingering.
Are we clear now?
By the way, seriously, how the fuck did Charlie Sykes get away with his sanctimonious moralistic preening having divorced one woman, rapidly married another, and then divorced that one, only to marry another one in a conspiculously short courtship (if we go by the official record)? And this fucker annulled a marriage, leaving one child in a tricky state of legitimacy? Doesn't that make the kid technically a bastard? And why'd he do that? So he could pretend to still be observing the Church's rules while really ignoring them as his wanderin' heart compelled him?
Fuck off with your phony sanctimony, you gutless lying cunts.
So Trump's an ex-Democrat? So is Charlie Sykes.
So Trump's a bully? So is Charlie Sykes. He had the reputation of a nasty, personal-attack political shockjock in Wisconsin.
So Trump had three wives? So has Charlie Sykes.
So Trump cheated on wives? Well, I don't know anything about that, but let's just say Charlie Sykes seems to have a quick turnaround time between wives.
So Trump's credentials as an anti-abortion candidate are in question? Charlie Fucking Sykes who pretends to be soooo pro-life tried his damnedest to get a rabid post-birth abortion candidate elected president.
What the fuck else you grifters got? Please write me more sermons about moral character as you sweetly forgive yourselves of all of your own grotesque moral failings

Was just going to write the same thing boatbuilder.
The shape of the "head" is very different. There is no red on the "watermelon". The watermelon doesn't project out from the body and isn't held up to the face.

Since we must wait a whole day for a new installment of “Pieces,” this is good reading to tide us over:

I see that kind of memorabilia on occasion at the antiques swap meets we visit. There seems to be a market among African Americans that buys that stuff. Maybe it's big among liberal university professors who want to show their hipster credentials as well. In reality they are perpetuating a stereotype of the serving class.

I always thought that lawn jockeys in blackface were racist. In fact, in my teens we used to steal them from front yards and doorsteps on the Main Line. I think I ended up with 6 or 8 of them. They're heavy and hard to ignore. We had a hedge behind the house where I had them. They may still be there for all I know.

Stereotyping is just that. We can laugh at them and should, because there are good reasons much of the time. But the noodling down into ur aggressions and lamentation and threats has to stop.

We now have what is basically an anti-semitic caucus in the House to go along with the anti-Christian caucus. And yet they overwhelmingly rely upon people of faith whom they have conned into believing the Dems are the answer. After 60 years of poverty and crime and maleducation in our cities' schools I would hope people would wise up.

The Republicans need to start focusing on the disparities in education and things like Charter Schools to really have an impact. The teacher's unions are out for themselves, not their members. They don't care about the chirrup. They care about their fatass sinecures and how they can perpetuate the gravy train.

If you want diversity, find those kids who are from diverse backgrounds. Don't hire 150 left wing activists who will grievance the place to death.

It used to be called the marketplace of ideas. Now it is more like Mao's Little Red Book and the Cultural Revolution.

Last week Peggy Noonan let go with a pretty good op/ed on how artistic freedom is so important and how the culturati are now lockstep leftists. It is now agitprop, not art. Shepard Fairey pretty well sums it up in stealing communist propaganda poster iconography and getting rich off of it while spouting socialist bullshit.

As that great philosopher George Clinton wrote, "free your mind and your ass will follow".

Clarice--what Surber cited from the Herald was just the original still from the Warren video, showing the figurine--which is not particularly clear, but is clearly not the same as the "racist" one and doesn't have a watermelon. He also linked to an eBay "similar" figure which is nothing like whatever is in the Warren video. I generally trust Surber and Warren is a fraudulent witch, but the figurine thing is BS.
I suspect he has now figured that out...

clarice

https://thehill.com/opinion/judiciary/423999-democrats-lay-impeachment-trap-but-will-the-president-step-into-it

MissMarple2

Well, here is my opinion on the figurine.

From the Boston Herald picture here

https://www.bostonherald.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/warren03.jpg

(You will have to click on it to get the enlarged version.)

This is as enlarged as I can make it on my computer. The outward shape seems to be similar. The color difference doesn't bother me because these figurines were painted in a bazillion different colorways. The same shape would be painted in lifelike colors, or all black, or two-tone black and red, etc. I have 3 dog figurines here in my room which were cast from the same mold but painted in different colors.

What else could that figurine be? I think it would be an amazing coincidence that something would have the same silhouette and yet be something completely different.

boatbuilder, do you have a larger enlargement?

I realize this isn't important, because she's a fraud and lunatic anyway, but it is just bugging me.

Jim Eagle

When I first saw the "picaninnie" I commented that it was probably a photo-shop. She is unlikeable, and a raving Marxist but not stupid enough to do something so overtly racsist (in today's prog world).

clarice

I thought so , too, but the silhouette is strikingly alike.

MissMarple2

Jack,

It's not a photo-shop. That is why I want to know what it is.

When I had my eBay store, I occasionally dealt in what is called "Black Memorabilia" in the trade. There are a lot of people who collect this stuff, and quite a few collectors are African-American. I imagine if she saw collections in the homes of black friends she wouldn't think a thing about it.

Prices on this stuff are fairly high, which indicates demand. Here is the Black Memorabilia stuff listed on eBay, for an example:

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313.TR10.TRC0.A0.H1.Xblack+memorabilia.TRS0&_nkw=black+memorabilia&_sacat=1

Personally, I have always felt this stuff should be relegated to the scrap heap. Black people who collect it, are, in my opinion, nursing their victim-hood. For example, Asians don't collect figurines of Chinese or Japanese caricatures from the early 50's.

It's possible she inherited the piece from a relative in Oklahoma. It seems to be up on top of the cabinets with a random assortment of bric-a-brac, which indicates to me that she isn't a serious collector.

Peter, I have probably a dozen variations of Ipanema. My folks had the Sinatra album when I was a kid and I loved his interpretation. I also love Astrud Gilberto's, Getz's, and the duet of Elis Regina and Jobim on Elis and Tom, one of the finest recordings ever cut.

Jobim was resurrected to an extent by the Black Eyed Peas, who butchered a couple of his songs. But then he did sort of a Tropicalia couple of albums that are quite good.

I found myself years ago going south for a lot of really good music. Venezuela, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia all have great pop, rock, and jazz artists.

What I hated when I was living with my Puerto Rican nationalist marxist roommate was salsa. It was a new form at the time and there was a lot of really bad music being made. But all three of us loved jazz and our other roommate was addicted to the blues like me, so it was usually pretty good.

I, and another engineer, a cowboy from Idaho, who killed a deer with his bare hands in front of me one time, rented the ground (basement) floor of a guy's house in Port Tobacco. There is a marina down the road that has a bar and restaurant.

One time they had a wild game cuisine night. Beside porcupine, they had possum, raccoon, deer, alligator (wherever that came from), snake and other delicccies. Except for deer, the all tasted like chicken:)

Thanks Clarice! Given the sourcing I’m surprised any part of it was correct.
