My father, a US Navy airman, taught me about the naming conventions when I was a kid.
Cruising along on the Staten Island Ferry he'd point at a ship and ask me to identify it.
I surprised him by pointing out that all tugboats were designated with an "M." Not really but the two biggest tugboat fleets were McAllister, and Moran. If I remember correctly one used a tall white M, the other had a shorter, wider, red M.

Think how bad of a husband you have to be to act this way.
This morning i listened to the entire unedited interview with Giuliani. the interviewer was in Giuliani's face, not letting him speak.
Guiliani held his own and made the simple point that he could not speak to what the entire campaign staff and affiliate individuals were doing during the campaign, including Manafort.
the simple claim he made about "never saying there was no collusion between the campaign" and Russia was true. he made the claim about the President.
the interviewer was from the Tom R school of argument: "yeah, but can you provide evidence that there was no collusion with Russia? Can YOU be certain of your claim." or words to that effect.
recycling their ammo.
I'm not a big fan of Rudy these days. but he's loyal to this President. Rudy doesn't run the President. and i am okay with that.
A-Bob--- based on what i heard this morning on the radio, Rudy doesn't seem to have compromised his sobriety. in fact, i wouldn't be surprised if it was a condition of him keeping his job. were he to fall of the wagon, it would have disastrous PR and political consequences for the President.
does Florida have microclimates like we do in the Bay Area--- cold in one part, 12 degrees warmer in another?
8 miles to the south of us residents reported "warm rains" yesterday. yesterday we had 11 straight hours of cold rains. Marin County was fogged in and getting hammered with rains, but not so much by winds, 4 miles away as crows fly.
"Microclimates"? That sounds like a CA word. Weather is different everywhere I think, sometimes even next door.
I remember when I was at school in Boulder. Walking down the street - on one sidewalk it was a bizzard, across the street on the other sidewalk the sun was shining brightly and it was actually hot.
Rudy slapped Fredo around for 10 minutes before the pull quote about Manafort. He was very good about the new report that FBI knew from day 1 dossier was bogus and FISA abuse. Fredo was stuttering.
Already 12 Dem Rep's will vote for wall. Only need 7 more. Wait till the RIF starts Mon. Pelosi will be squirming.

Thanks, Kev. Yeah last night I figured I'd come back and read and listen to this cd of piano duets that everyfuckingbody has been keeping me from enjoying, but my eggs were too scrambled for that; so I thought why fight it, took an Advil and went to bed. Now I'm refreshed and back to normal. And just got done listening to the cd.
OPM’s 2015 guidance on shutdown furloughs also clarifies the matter.
“Reductions in force furlough regulations and SES competitive furlough requirements are not applicable to emergency shutdown furloughs because the ultimate duration of an emergency shutdown furlough is unknown at the outset and is dependent entirely on congressional action, rather than agency action,” OPM guidance reads. “The RIF furlough regulations and SES competitive furlough requirements, on the other hand, contemplate planned, foreseeable, money-saving furloughs that, at the outset, are planned to exceed 30 days.”
Three Russian businessmen mentioned in the so-called dossier of alleged ties between President Donald Trump and Russia scored a legal victory Wednesday when a judge refused to throw out a libel suit they filed against Fusion GPS, the private investigation firm that produced the compilation.
Miss M, why would sex obsessed creeps want to have comprehensive private info on every human on the planet? Goolag seems to attract them (as does Zuck and the other social media firms, they haven't been "exposed" as much).
Thanks, TK. Nobody would have lost their job, anyway. I thought they would at least have to justify why it doesn't apply and report on it. I still think pressure is mounting on Dem's from public unions, not Trump.
It was nice to see Barr make clear that the Mueller report goes to him, and he'll write whatever is made public.

Senator McConnell is in charge of the Senate. If Mrs. Pelosi refuses to allow the president to deliver the State of the Union in the House, I propose we move it to the Senate and make it happen!
And when the shutdown finally ends, all the non-essential employees will get back pay (does anyone seriously doubt that there are enough RINOs in both houses to make that veto-proof?), which means they'll have gotten a 1-2 month (or longer) vacation at our expense.
Speaking of Rand Paul,he's on Maria B's show and explaining why he's having surgery in Canada. He's having hernia surgery related to his assault. The surgery will be at a private hospital that specializes in hernia surgery. The doctors perform 7,000 surgeries a year. He will be paying cash.
((I find it horrifying. I also wonder if the cross-border sex trafficking is somehow tied to them. And then I get to wondering about people in Congress.))
A Google executive sparked a fierce backlash from employees by using the word “family” in a weekly, company-wide presentation, according to internal documents obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation.
Many Google employees became angry that the term was used while discussing a product aimed at children, because it implied that families have children, the documents show. The backlash grew large enough that a Google vice president addressed the controversy and solicited feedback on how the company could become more inclusive.
TheDCNF received the documents from a source who insisted upon anonymity in order to share them.
One employee stormed out of the March 2017 presentation after a presenter “continued to show (awesome) Unicorn product features which continually use the word ‘family’ as a synonym for ‘household with children,'” he explained in an internal thread. That employee posted an extended rant, which was well-received by his colleagues, on why linking families to children is “offensive, inappropriate, homophobic, and wrong.”
the interviewer was from the Tom R school of argument: "yeah, but can you provide evidence that there was no collusion with Russia? Can YOU be certain of your claim." or words to that effect.
Really? That sounds more like you when you asked for hard evidence to back up my opinion that Rosenstein appointed Mueller to protect Trump from McCabe.
I’d like to think my school of argument relies on known facts and connecting the dots between them to form logical conclusions. I also like to force anyone who disagrees with my logical conclusions to defend their own logic. That tactic has caused some people here to get upset from time to time. I don’t recall ever asking anyone here to prove a negative like you spelled out in your example.
Did you watch that JHAPL presentation on their proposal to NASA to land a drone on Titan, the largest of Saturn’s moons? I posted on the previous thread.

Here is an interesting sequence of tweets. President Trump made a Twitter spelling error (since corrected), which started this. Conway is Kellyanne's husband. Parscale is Trump's campaign manager.

Think how bad of a husband you have to be to act this way.

To side with Tom, Giuliani needs to permanently STFU.

Rudy must be back on the sauce.
Posted by: Another Bob | January 17, 2019 at 06:36 AM

It's bloody freezing in FL! How rude!

Best of days to all. Kev out.

KK,
"Microclimates"?

Good Morning! Def Leppard's one armed drummer Rick Allen is on Maria B's show. He is also a one armed artist and is on a three city gallery tour across the northeast.
Jane,I was in a store the other morning (in my flip-flops) and a woman wearing boots looked at me like I was nuts. :) If I have to wear boots,I may as well be in Maine!

Posted by: henry | January 17, 2019 at 08:35 AM
Thanks, TK. Nobody would have lost their job, anyway. I thought they would at least have to justify why it doesn't apply and report on it. I still think pressure is mounting on Dem's from public unions, not Trump.
It was nice to see Barr make clear that the Mueller report goes to him, and he'll write whatever is made public.
anyhoo, off skiing, back later.

I find it horrifying. I also wonder if the cross-border sex trafficking is somehow tied to them. And then I get to wondering about people in Congress.

Senator McConnell is in charge of the Senate. If Mrs. Pelosi refuses to allow the president to deliver the State of the Union in the House, I propose we move it to the Senate and make it happen!
Posted by: MissMarple2 | January 17, 2019 at 08:41 AM
Sad but not surprising, TK.
There will be no RIFs.

The former Democratic congressional staffer who posted personal information about Republican senators online faces nearly 50 years in prison.
I would prefer he be sentenced to death by hanging. Better for the culture and a better object lesson for future perps.

the interviewer was from the Tom R school of argument: "yeah, but can you provide evidence that there was no collusion with Russia? Can YOU be certain of your claim." or words to that effect.
Really? That sounds more like you when you asked for hard evidence to back up my opinion that Rosenstein appointed Mueller to protect Trump from McCabe.
I’d like to think my school of argument relies on known facts and connecting the dots between them to form logical conclusions. I also like to force anyone who disagrees with my logical conclusions to defend their own logic. That tactic has caused some people here to get upset from time to time. I don’t recall ever asking anyone here to prove a negative like you spelled out in your example.
