Beto O’Rourke pens epic, rambling blog from road trip: ‘In and out of a funk’

Media darling and former Texas Senate candidate Beto O’Rourke is blogging his way through a classic American road trip, with a rambling essay telling readers he has “been stuck lately” as he hits the road to meet people and break the funk (and maybe decide on a 2020 run).

“Have been stuck lately. In and out of a funk. My last day of work was January 2nd. It’s been more than twenty years since I was last not working,” he wrote in the Medium post.

O’Rourke is considering a 2020 presidential run, after he lost to Sen. Ted Cruz in November amid a slew of glowing media profiles and an unprecedented amount of campaign funding.

In his Medium post, he didn't directly mention a 2020 bid, but indicated he’s wrestling with something as he journeys through locales in Kansas, Texas and New Mexico.

“Maybe if I get moving, on the road, meet people, learn about what’s going on where they live, have some adventure, go where I don’t know and I’m not known, it’ll clear my head, reset, I’ll think new thoughts, break out of the loops I’ve been stuck in,” he wrote.

Those new thoughts are in ample supply. The former congressman went into minute detail about his journey through restaurants (“Ate at Del’s and as I was finishing my blackberry cobbler asked the waitress what I should see in Tucumcari”) as well as his experiences talking to people he meets on the road.

Blah, blah.

In the article on Pelosi’s letter to Trump to postpone the SOTU for “security” reasons, and buried in the 7th graf, is this sentence:

“It takes a joint resolution of the House and Congress to extend the official invitation and set the stage.”

AP (purposely?) overlooks that if it takes a joint resolution to invite POTUS to deliver a SOTU address before Congress, it should take a joint resolution to rescind the invitation.

Pelosi, as befits her imperial wannabe attitude, probably never consulted with Senate leader Mitch McConnell and the invitation still stands.

It would be sweet if @POTUS tweeted “Since the invitation joint resolution still stands, and since the Secret Service approves, I’ll be pleased to deliver the SOTU before Congress as originally planned.”

RE: facts and logic ...

Logic can't convert false data into truth. It has the same GIGO property as computer software.

Conclusions based on facts, assumptions, and inference are only as valid as the assumptions and inferences.

Without a complete set of only true facts there are many possible conflicting "valid" conclusions, where valid only means the logic employed was not flawed.

Having argued the 3 door Monty Hall "logic" here to some extent I am skeptical of anyone's claim their conclusions are true because their logic is perfect.

Texas mayor resigns following accusations that she misused city funds to see Michelle Obama

Mayor Lyndia Thomas and Mayor Pro Tem Beckie Hayes of Forest Hill, Texas, resigned Wednesday shortly before a public hearing to determine whether or not they had misused city funds for tickets to attend former first lady Michelle Obama's book tour in Dallas.

...

Thomas and Hayes stand accused of being improperly reimbursed for $545 worth of tickets for Michelle Obama's book tour. Although they resigned before their hearing, both officials claimed they were innocent.

"I will not leave my fate in the hands of other individuals," Hayes told WFAA-TV. "I am a woman of integrity, and the allegations, they have no substance. They are false."

Thomas said the allegations were politically motivated.

I disagree. When asked to explain how I came to the conclusion I did I provided the known facts that supported my opinion. You made the same exact kind of assertion when you expressed your opinion that Mueller was protecting the corrupt members of the DOJ/FBI. You are more than welcome to believe that is true and I have no desire to waste my time trying to change your mind on that. The facts will eventually come out and prove whose conjecture is right and who was wrong. I just pointed out you can't provide enough evidence to prove your assertion about Mueller just like I can't provide enough evidence to prove mine about Rosenstein. There is so much unknown information out there still that we don't know about that no one can make a definitive assertion on anything with a high degree of confidence.

You are correct that I place a lot of emphasis on that meeting. I think you are I are the only two people here who have expressed the opinion that Rosenstein is a White Hat. extraneus has admitted its a plausible idea. After that I don't think anyone else has acknowledged the idea that Rosenstein is a good guy. I think your opinion was influenced by Jack Straw on AoS since you have cited him on numerous occasions. The way I think is that if Rosenstein is a White Hat working with Trump, then it doesn't really make much sense for him to appoint Mueller as SC knowing that Mueller is a Deep State Swamp Black Hat and would try to destroy Trump. I also believe that is Mueller was trying to destroy Trump, there would have been some leaks from the 13 Angry Democrats to the MSM over the past two years with information damaging to Trump.

Michael Cohen Claims Trump Directed Him to Rig CNBC, Drudge Polls

Cohen corroborated a Wall Street Journal report stating that in 2014 he paid John Gauger, the head of RedFinch Solutions, a small IT firm, to develop computer code that would place multiple votes for Trump in an online poll for CNBC. In 2015, the firm repeated the effort in an online poll for the popular news aggregator DrudgeReport.com.

In an effort to boost his national profile, Cohen also directed Gauger to create the @WomenForCohen Twitter account, which touted the attorney as a “pit bull” and “sex symbol,” while promoting several of his interviews during the election.

Further, the Journal report said Gauger, who is chief information officer at Liberty University, an evangelical Christian school in Virginia, was paid over $12,000 in cash for the job, allegedly less than the $50,000 he was promised. Cohen disputed this claim, insisting that Gauger was paid by check.

Cohen, who also reportedly paid Gauger to create a social media account to promote himself, confirmed the main elements of the Journal’s story on social media, tweeting: “As for the @WSJ article on poll rigging, what I did was at the direction of and for the sole benefit of @realDonaldTrump @POTUS. I truly regret my blind loyalty to a man who doesn’t deserve it.”
