Kevlar Kid,

Is the grapefruit soda whose name you are searching for Fresca?

Posted by: MissMarple2 | January 05, 2019 at 07:41 AM

Nope. Although that's pretty good. I started delving into different types of sparkling water. I know Aldi has La Croix. Their grapefruit is pretty good but it's not as good as the other that I got at Wal Mart in Casper.

Fine Pieces's this morning, Clarice. Beautifully written, and very solid punches thrown and landed. Hat tip, Matt!

The only link that did not work for me was this one: Instead, he was inexplicably handed a plum slot on the Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee.

Bravo Zulu!

clarice, re your 10:19 question to me--first I've seen that, and I have no idea what the 3D scan is they do online, BUT too much testing is never good---there's a rate of about 20% for false positives for blood work for a number of measures, and real "screening" scans also show "incidentals" that are of no concern other than worry, or surgeries that remove benign masses--BUT I am a fan of concierge medicine, where one person knows you thoroughly and is available by phone 24/7/(not quite 365, because their one or two excellent partners cover each other on weekends---so maybe 260ish).

That internet based set up looked to me that you may have a different doctor/"provider" every time you checked in.

Frankly, that looks like it was made to appeal to rich young titans who think doctors can keep you well, and that genetics are destiny., and data is improtant. I'm more about sauer krout and fish oil.

You know I think that you can keep you well, not doctors.
Actually, I know that. ;-) So does KK.

Concierge is pretty much the way my uncle practiced medicine for the first twenty years. They even keep up with you in the hospital!
What's old is new again!
THAT is definitely worth paying for if you have that option.

The internet/techie offering may have an appeal to big time travelers. And as genetics comes to play a bigger role in prescribing.
Keep me posted.

I'll take the opportunity to once again plug William Davis, MD's Undoctored, and suggest that googling Jason Fung and listening to some interviews will do more for health in five hours than anything else.

And from a couple of things I've read here lately, I think KK may have a nice side thing going doing nutrition counseling/support. You don't have to hide it fellas---I'd love to hear what and how you are doing!

clarice

Thanks,daddy.
That was my impression anonamom.

I enjoy tuning into Clarice's Carp-Free analysis. I read several of the linked posts in the past week along with a lot of other stuff mixed in with the incessant pounding Orange Man Bad drumbeat. Clarice's Pieces are like a magnifying glass bringing focus to commentary and news stories to a sharp, white-hot point. Like connecting dots in the forest, suddenly I can see some trees.

hoyden

I like it when Democrats unwittingly give up their game in a brief, inadvertent burst of honesty. From Clarice's Pieces, quoting Pisslosi,

“We’re not doing a wall. It has nothing to do with politics. ..."

It's ALL about Teh Politics.

An LATimes Science story on new evidence pushing the SnowBall Earth Theory: Around the world, miles of rock are missing. Could ‘Snowball Earth’ be the culprit?

Scientists propose that several freak episodes of global glaciation scoured away miles of continental crust, obliterating a billion years of geologic history in the process.

The idea was first proposed back in 1973 by a geologist named William White, but no one took him seriously...

Today, however, researchers have come to accept the outlandish notion that, a few times in its 4.6-billion-year history, the planet froze over and became a “Snowball Earth.” Now Keller and his colleagues hope to convince their peers that the glaciers that crawled across the continents between 720 million and 580 million years ago were responsible for the Great Unconformity.

Yada, yada, yada:)

daddy

And another good column this morning by the NYPost's Michael Goodwin: Democrats keep proving how detached they are from reality

In its common definition, the job of president of the United States is to deliver peace and prosperity. Donald Trump is doing well on both fronts, so let’s impeach the bastard!

As insane as it sounds, that and only that is what many Democrats have in mind. Impeachment, or death by a thousand investigations, is the heart of their plan.

For proof, eliminate their desire to remove Trump from office and see if you can pinpoint anything else with broad Dem support. Some advocate for open borders, others for tax hikes or Medicare-for-all, but ending the Trump presidency ASAP is the glue holding the party together.

Well there's always the Dem desire for more taxes, but point taken Mr Goodwin.

daddy

We also learn from the NYPost that a new ABC hagiography is coming out on JFK Jr, where we will be told that instead of being the dumb-shit, hubristic, inexperienced pilot he was, John-John was instead a young Chuck Yeager who sadly was lied to by the FAA about weather conditions on the eve of his fateful flight, and also that his Flight Instructor was too busy to fly with him that night.

All lies of course, and not just Minor League lies but Major League lies, though I guess when you're trying to propagandize a new generation of skulls full of mush to join the Kennedy Cult "Truth" takes a back seat in JFK Jr's airplane.

G'nite.

henry

And thus Beto’s bar tender lied about how drunk he was? Beto seems the only reason to bring of the Kennedy clan,

I can't wait to hear the author's proof that the FAA lied. Is the NTSB also in on the lie?

The probable cause of the accident, as stated in the accident report, is:
"The pilot's failure to maintain control of the airplane during a descent over water at night, which was a result of spatial disorientation. Factors in the accident were haze and the dark night."

Yesterday was as glorious as it gets in MN in January; high 30's, sky clear, wind NW 10-15 kts. Athena (my Van's RV6) and I, and a couple of friends with RV's, flew on a foraging flight for food and cheap gas. Filled up with food at Eau Claire, WI and cheap gas ($3.999/gal for 100 LL) at New Richmond, WI. Yesterday was the first good flying weekend in the last 3 weekends. I get grumpy when I have to go more than a week without flying. I end up grumpy a lot in winter.

hoyden

anonamom, thanks for sharing the Mittens comment. I appreciate that perspective. I second Buckeye with Matt's comment.

James D.

My opinion is that homely people are drawn to leftism, feeling that they are outcasts and will derive benefits from their policies.

Leftism is like the Dark Side of the Force. Easier, easier, more seductive.

It tells you nothing is your fault, everything you're unhappy about in life can be blamed on someone else, you're not responsible for anything, or required to do anything in order to get stuff.

Of course it resonates with many, many people. Especially when nothing else is taught in schools or popular culture or even many churches anymore.

James D.

Great Pieces, Clarice, but I'd quibble with one thing.

You call Mitt's pathetic screed a "classic misreading of the base" but I'd argue that he knows precisely who his base is.

Right after the last Kennedy killing of a woman by driving her into a body of water, the plagiarist Mike Barnicle insisted, based on nothing but blind Kennedy worship, that JFK Junior was an excellent pilot. Let's put it this way, he probably was as adept at piloting a plane as his father was a nimble PT boat that somehow got cut in half by a lumbering Japanese destroyer. The accident happened on a Friday evening and supposedly the instructor was informed at the last minute and had other commitments.

boatbuilder

Great Pieces, Clarice (as usual).

I think McConnell put Mitt on Foreign Relations because he will be less of a pain in the ass to McConnell's (as opposed to Trump's) domestic agenda there, particularly regarding legalization of certain substances which are very popular in Kentucky but not so much in Utah. Perhaps a deal was struck.

Another Bob

Bumped into this piece again, which is close to the best thing I’ve read on how we got Trump and why he’s probably what the country needs now.

https://www.claremont.org/crb/basicpage/the-flight-93-election/

I’m not as uncharitable toward Trump as the author. I see Trump as bringing a much-needed and massive dose of common sense, which he’s delivering “in character” as the Trump of “The Apprentice”. That confusion between Trump the man and Trump the character he plays seems one of his biggest assets, but also a source of some of his bigger difficulties.

Jane

I always liked JFK Jr. I thought he really was the best of a bad lot. He was accepted at my law school. Would have been a 1st year while I was a 2nd year, but declined the invite.

AB--the "Flight 93 Election" piece is excellent. It is perhaps less charitable to Trump than it would be now because it was written before the 2016 election. The author had legitimate fears and concerns (as I did) that Trump was indeed a charlatan and a boob, and more to the point a liberal Democrat under the skin.

Trump has proven the writer correct about the Uniparty/Davos contingent to a degree that I am not sure that even he could have imagined, and I suspect that a follow-up today would say something along the lines of what I, a former skeptic, would say--"MAGA--Full Speed Ahead!"

Also--he guessed right about the "Loudmouth" style--Trump has broken the code imposed by the MSM and the "elites" to speak loudly and directly to the rest of us.

Tom Bowler,

That was an excellent article. Trump's style causes pearl-clutching amongst the llikes of Romney, but I suspect it is mostly because he is effective and their milquetoast style looks pathetic in comparison.

Another thing Trump is very effective at is the use of social media to bypass the press, networks, and cable channels. He has no hesitation in USING the press when it will benefit him, as you showed with that video of Schumer and Pelosi getting ambushed on the border wall discussion, or when he called the press into the briefing room only to have them listen to Border Patrol officials TELL them that they need a wall.

I find it fascinating to watch him operate. The democrats have convinced themselves that the cartoon character they have described in the press is how he really is, which is pretty remarkable.

To close out the week, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) indicated that Trump could expect no assistance from the Senate in overcoming the deadlock over the funding of the wall and reopening the government. Adam Smith has *no* real background in the military or law enforcement - so anything he says about the border, or the benefits (or lack thereof) of a wall are merely his repeating of Democrat talking points.

He is a lawyer by profession - but perhaps one of the most unimpressive lawyers I have ever heard speak. He became a politician in his senior year of law school, and passes himself off as a 'moderate' (who always votes with the mainstream leftists).

Per his House website, https://adamsmith.house.gov/biography ,
he believes in "the importance of passing comprehensive immigration reform." He also wants "to pass legislation that creates a pathway to citizenship" and is a "leader in advocating for new legislation and policy changes to reform deportation and detention policies."

Just the sort of phony moderate that all of the LIV's are being indoctrinated in schools to vote for in our brave new world.

Jane, over the last several months I have watched 100 videos on Instrument Flight Rules mastery that set up a scenario and let you choose your preferred response.

Amongst other things they promote profound respect for darkness, haze, and spatial disorientation.

I don’t want to fly into such conditions in a plane that does not have a wing leveler (they existed back then) or other assistance to help my poor human limitations.

John, Jr. exercised extreme bad judgment to attempt such conditions. Training today pounds into you the need to set personal limits, and to always leave yourself an out.

I highly recommend pilotworkshops IFR Mastery program. Five minutes of video setup, resources to evaluate, options to select and see what other pilots chose, and a professional post-video to learn what option they chose.

I am a safer, more conservative pilot for signing up.

Why thank you, Clarice and all! I hope that I'm right. Some of the Dems are now saying sub-Cortex is actually a Jedi Master and could upend the country with her mind tricks. I think that is probably the Cannabis wing of the party but with so many of these deviants in office now, who knows?

Feinstein is in it for the graft, not the benefits, James D. Her hubby has made hundreds of millions to go along with his already incredible wealth as one of the founders of CBRE. But that wan't quite enough. Shady land deals; the train to nowhere, he's grifting all down the line.

Now the good (or not good) news is that I think we will see the gerontocracy start keeling over shortly. But that also runs the risk of the real crazies getting their hands on the levers of power. RBG is gone despite the propaganda and that will set off some real fireworks. Perhaps if enough people see how batshit crazy the Dems are once again it will start to sink in.

It will get to the point of "Johnny stuck his young out at me/made a sexual gesture" with the yahoos and they have no self awareness.

The weirdness in our universities will probably accelerate as they egg each other on.

Soros, Steyer, Bloomberg et al bought the House in the elections. But the proof will be in how well these rookies can work within the system. If we end up with a bunch of howling monkeys off in a corner I doubt the electorate, especially in place like the OC, will tolerate a second round of nuttiness.

One way or t'other it will be entertaining. Comedy? Tragedy? Horror?

I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment of JFK Jr.'s poor judgement on electing to take that flight.

I remember a flight from the east coast to Ahia in a Cessna 340 that suffered a autopilot failure in flight.

Hard driving rain the whole way. Two of us up front with good IFR hand flying skills and we were still pretty much whooped by the time we got to Cowtown.

It was my pleasure, Matt.

Mr PnP: "According to something I read on the Internet EBT's don't get reloaded February 1st if the government stays closed."

A month ago someone said that was in an Agriculture Bill which has successfully passed.

"Other than collecting a government paycheck, what exactly does Elaine Cho DO?"

Protect her husband from ruffians at D.C. restaurants?

Matt "But the proof will be in how well these rookies can work within the system."

I don't think we have a "system" anymore, Matt.

It went bye-bye back when we accepted the first CR in place of 13 Appropriation Laws, when we accepted the "ruse" that 75% of the budget spending is "non-discretionary", when we stopped making a big deal about the absoluteness of the approved Debt Ceiling. Then it went away when every election became a litigation starting with who exactly is allowed to vote and what does legal citizenship have to do with it anyway. And it was buried deep when one favored group could use the immense powers of government, in the form of IRS, NSA, FBI, DoJ, CIA, to corrupt any election and destroy any political opponent in order to secure and maintain power for a group and for its enrichment. Any the tombstone for "the system" has to be that there is not, in fact, equal justice for all citizens in the new system we have.

So Steyer and those bums will do just fine working in this system.

The Infamous Ignatz

--but saying he’s the least-bad Kennedy--

But I didn't say that. I don't judge people based on their family relations, I hope for obvious reasons.

--He was the least bad according to what we know from the MFM. Why would we believe them?
He mighta been a heroin addict, womanizer, ambian freak, nude sunbather, woman killer, nurse bullying oaf like others in his family.--

Isn't that kind of self-refuting? Despite the MFM's best efforts we know what scum virtually every single Kennedy is or was.
Almost alone, Jr never was, to my knowledge, alleged to have acted like his scum kin. Let's not forget, he was raised largely apart from his scum kin.

"litigation starting with" includes up to and including prevent the POTUS from hiring the team he wants, and allowing any hick judge to stop cold executive actions of that POTUS.

i neither admire nor condemn the Kennedy clan.

there is nothing in any of the younger generation's behavior and public displays that inspire confidence.

imagine the effects on the younger kennedy generations of living in the shade of those assasinations, then the incredible sloth and buffoonery of The Loin of the Senate?

just plain weird.

Not a fan of the Cowboys; am a fan of Dak Prescott. I'm also a fan of any team that can make Pete Carroll look like he just bit into a very sour lemon. And the Boys did that last night.
