Jane

It's also been talked about for a long time.

henry

Saw tweets this morning that Bolton said the delay is to ensure protection of the Kurds.

Buford Gooch

A lot of Trump's base is concerned about the Kurds (and their way? ;) )

henry

BBC with the Bolton statement:

Jane

Kurds are the good guys.

Jack is Back!

Jane,

Yeah the Kurds are the good guys and our allies in the ME. The Turks have a problem with their separatists who want back their historical lands from Turkey. History:)

When we were building the dam up in Iraqi-Kurd country, the F**kling turks would not allow our employees to exit over the border when Saddam invaded Kuwait. Even though we had an office, and projects, and partners in Turkey. The Turks are a mess politically, commercially, and diplomatically.

Kevlar Kid

TurkeyNATO gets off pushing aggression in Syria how exactly?

Does Turkey have the capacity to run a two front war against the Kurds protectors and the Kingdom plus Jordan?

How much will Putin allow?

asking for friends, of course.

The Infamous Ignatz

Kurds are the good guys in the same way JamesD thinks of JFK Jr as the good Kennedy; it's a mighty low bar to clear in that neighborhood.

Jack is Back!

Chargers putting a hurt on Ravens, and Harbaugh still refuses to put Flaco in, even though the guy won a super bowl. There is something really mentally wrong with the Harbaughs when you think about it.

Rivers has over 200yds passing, Lamar Jackson 6yds passing with about a thousand sacks.

I see Harbaugh getting the gold watch after the game.

daddy

the alleged shooter is black, not white, and also that the shooting may have been gang-related.

Nothing to see here citizens, move along.

Chargers putting a hurt on Ravens

That warms my heart. I'm still bitter over the Ravens beating my Giants in the Super bowl back in 2000.

Jack is Back!

Clarice,

Your 3:57 is why people believe the law is whatever the judge, the cops, the prosecutors want to make it. You, and innocent citizen, have no chance, if in fact they want to make you the murder, the theif, the burglar. You are guilty.

daddy

Mr. Dubelier: “The Special Counsel’s argument is reminiscent of Otter’s famous line, ‘Flounder, you can’t spend your whole life worrying about your mistakes! You f**ked up … you trusted us. Hey, make the best of it.’”

Extraneus

So which way will Roberts vote on the case that'll be brought against Trump's declaration of a State of Emergency at the border?

He'll have to bend himself into a pretzel shape to rule that the president doesn't have the authority to call an invasion an invasion, but he's shown a high degree of flexibility in the past.

Jack is Back!

Guy goes for 3 Quaters throwing for 6 yds, then comes back in the 4th Q and throws for 116yd. and 2 TD's. Only less than 2minutes to go.

jimmyk

The Jazmine Barnes shooter is a white Hispanic African American. /NYTspeak

Jack is Back!

Its over. Ravens fumble, Chargers cover.

But, in my opinion Tony Romo is the best color guy on NFL games.

Always liked him when he was not a Cowboy.

GUS

Jerry Brown Person is the quintessential FULL COMMUNIST. No amount of data, fact, deaths, proof, or any other sense of reason, will make him see the TRUTH.
If indeed the POLICE OFFICER SINGH'S death was not perpetrated by someone who had had FULL COMMIE NONSENSICAL SANCTUARY, he was still killed by someone, who had ZERO BIZNESS being in our NATION.
BROWN doesn't care, he is parsing. The VERY POLICIES that BROWN favors and approves of, would and DID allow this BASTARD to kill an AMERICAN LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER. Furthermore, the RIDICULOUS race baiting, RONNIE DOUCHE BAG employed, about KEEPING AMERICA WHITE, is quickly SHITCANNED, as the DEAD L.E.O. was a DEAD POLICE OFFICER of COLOR.
The FACT IS, the FULL COMMIE, is about CONTROL, POWER and permanent VOTING GROUPS, illegal or not.
All of US, who have been called NAZI, RACIST, WHITE NATIONALIST and WHITE SUPREMECIST, Care about, and GRIEVE FOR, Mister Singh. The FULL COMMIE DOES NOT. They are COLD and they LOVE DEATH. If it aids their DOGMA/IDEOLOGY.

daddy

I am advised that the DC Judge in the case took the "Flounder" comment under advisement, which I think means that Concorde and Defense Atty Dubelier are under Double Super Secret Probation.

Kevlar Kid

Jackson stayed in the game mentally for when it counted in the clutch. Crab's first TD catch was in the 3rd with 6 or so minutes to go. there was plenty of time to win, but the Raves couldn't get untracked. helluva ball game.

i think Harbaugh woulda been toast if they'd not gone on that 7 game run.

henry

I would avoid parades if I were that judge.

Kevlar Kid

i thought the Ravens' game plan forced their young QB to be a pocket passer. looks more like a run and shoot QB to me. oh well. no dawg in this hunt. it's just pure football enjoyment. i don't mind.

weather here the day before the BCS is atrocious...high winds and rain all day. they are playing 40 miles to the south.

what are you seeing, JimNorCal?

henry

Chitown Lurker will be st the Bears game, so my usual rooting for an asteroid strike will be put on hold. Wave if you see the lurking unit on TV.

Kevlar Kid

i agree, Jack, about Romo. He was a "star" at Western Illinois University. Made the big time.

his color skills are great with his play insights. he knows the teams' respective formations. Key.

Romo's enthusiasm for the sport is unmatched in the announcing booth. his QB rivals in sports broadcasting, if you can call them that--- Boomer and Phil Simms have gone bitter in my estimation (Boomer never one a Supa Bo and Phil got benched in fav of Romo).

Romo is refreshing. i don't think he was concussed as much as Troy Aikman, so he's a little more alive in the booth. i also enjoy, as i've said before, Coach Arians demeanor in the booth.

i'm not going to watch CHGO-PHL because i can't stand the Lawnmower Chris Collingsworth (never won the big one either).

But Jerry Brown is the greatest CA governor in recent memory! Like Iggy said of the Kurds.

Kevlar Kid

Wait'll you get a load of Gruesome Newsome--- another peanut noodle who thinks he's the adult in the room.

pizza chip.

GUS

Jack, Tony Romo grew up and went to school here in S.E. Wisconsin. Very near Henry's MASSIVE ESTATE.
Never cheered for him, as he was a COWBOY.
There is ZERO DOUBT......Romo is THE best announcer play by play OR color, in the NFL. I never knew nor took the time to ever recognize, how EXTREMELY SMART and BRIGHT Tony Romo is.

He doesn't bullshit and lick Goodells ass. He is hard not to like.

daddy

As Adam Schiff has a hissy fit on CNN over the resignation of the Chief of Staff at the Pentagon, thought I'd post this:

On September 17, 1962, McClellan and Lee battled to a standstill along Antietam Creek near Sharpsburg, Maryland. Lee retreated back to Virginia and McClellan ignored Lincoln’s urging to pursue him. For six weeks, Lincoln and McClellan exchanged angry messages, but McClellan stubbornly refused to march after Lee. In late October, McClellan finally began moving across the Potomac in feeble pursuit of Lee, but he took nine days to complete the crossing. Lincoln had seen enough. Convinced that McClellan could never defeat Lee, Lincoln notified the general on November5 of his removal. A few days later, Lincoln named General Ambrose Burnside to be the commander of the Army of the Potomac.

After his removal, McClellan battled with Lincoln once more–for the presidency in 1864. McClellan won the Democratic nomination but was easily defeated by his old boss.

I wonder what the Congressman Schiff and CNN equivalents said at the time?

Kevlar Kid

i like the way the Knights of Columbus chapter socked Sen. Hirono and Harris in their cooters with a "bless your heart" letter inviting them to participate in a detailed menu of charitable activities any time they want to come and see the KOC in action.

Sweetest "kiss our marbled asses" reply to trolling ProgTardoz i've seen in a while.

clarice

1962, daddy--they fought in shopping centers?

The Infamous Ignatz

Gruesome Newsome will achieve the impossible and make some actually miss the Brown Stain.

daddy

Kev,

Just for info. I always thought that Eli's Mile High Club was in North Oakland and that the Starry Plow was the first decent bar you passed once you entered South Berkeley. Is that correct, and/or do you use different landmarks? I lived in Alameda at the BOQ and then later at Marina View Towers in the late 80's before buying a house on Santa Clara St (north of Webster) from 1990-1995.

henry

Fascinating a cut & paste would be a century off. ;)

At least Burnsides made a name for himself in men’s fashion. McClellan just lost.

>>>Perhaps if enough people see how batshit crazy the Dems are once again it will start to sink in.<<<

I used to think that was a possibility but then 2018 happened ... the GOPe had everything they had asked for-a house, senate, and president and sure enough they spent more time making sure Mueller was coddled and that deeply disturbed men who think they are women can use the women's room. If that sort of batshit crazy didn't wake people up nothing much else will.

Jack is Back!

Kurds are the good guys in the same way JamesD thinks of JFK Jr as the good Kennedy; it's a mighty low bar to clear in that neighborhood.

Really? What do you know about the Kurds? I lived with them. Did you? Of course not, another KK opinion without fact. Why are you here guy? You are all Bullshit.

hrtshpdbox

Andrew McCarthy, in NR, claims Trump keeps giving Mueller legitimate reasons to keep on keepin' on. Of Trump's comments about Russia's invasion of Afghanistan in the 1970's, McCarthy says "Trump’s remarks, echoing Russian propaganda about its aggression, are apt to be of interest to the special counsel."

To even put such an absurd idea out there for Mueller to chew on makes McCarthy something of a dope, I think.

Trump:

V.P. Mike Pence and group had a productive meeting with the Schumer/Pelosi representatives today. Many details of Border Security were discussed. We are now planning a Steel Barrier rather than concrete. It is both stronger & less obtrusive. Good solution, and made in the U.S.A.

GUS

Absolutely Kev, I was driving and listening to post game analysis....I THINK it was Boomer Esiason, and the talk was that JACKSON, is not yet, an accomplished NFL PASSER.
So true, so true. Who is??? Michael Vick could run, he had a very very strong arm. The athletic giltz, is not what wins Championships in the NFL.
Randall Cunningham, Steve McNair, on and on and on, the MFM and the JOCK SNIFFERS, all desperately want some young BLACK DUDE to become the MEDIA DARLING, by being, fast, quick and elusive. That's not what wins in the NFL.
RUSSELL WILSON has won a SUPER BOWL. Russell Wilson played from the SHOT GUN at WISCONSIN. Russell Wilson, had the TOTAL SKILL SET, and was a SURPRISE to the NFL and the JOCK SNIFFERS. WILSON, was not the stereotypical BLACK qb, and RUSSELL WILSON was absolutely, not the scramble, run, throw, stereotype that the MFM craves.
Griffin III, might have been successful if his SKILLS were used to their MAX. Then he got TORN UP.

If the Dems are down to claiming a victory over concrete, Durbin's threat of a State of Emergency lawsuit probably isn't looking so good.

As I understand it, Animal House was based on Dartmouth College. Ms D is at this moment bringing me up to date on the current $70 million lawsuit alleging Dartmouth turned blind eye to sexual abuse

Apparently this is just tip o' the iceberg stuff.

'Nuff said.

SCHIFF, has the "away with the fairies" look in his eyes.

Like ERNEST T BASS. "HE'S A NUT".

The FULL COMMIE cannot recognize a NUT, the DOGMA and IDEOLOGY is all that they require. It's actually sort of humorous.

Schiff, is like so many many FULL COMMIE DEMOTARDS, he swims thru the river of VOMIT, to try and make himself, just a wee bit CRAZIER, than the next FULL COMMIE in the pool.

Kevlar Kid

Pretty much as you say, daddy. Mile High is pure north central in the "V", north of the 580 between Broadway and San Pablo which vector out to the nor-west and nor-east.

Kev 1.0 lived on Lafayette St for 1 year (off Central) and Sherman St. for 1 year right out of college as a new daddy. then it was off to ag-land in southern illinois. the island is a great place to go eat in peace and watch the grandkids eat too much ice cream at Tuckers' when they're here from Belgium.

always amazed at how many victorians are still standing in both Oaktown and on the Island.

clarice

daddy, I said that (a) because you typo'd the date and (b) because when my son was young he noticed there were shopping centers at the sites of all the big battlefields of the Civil War and wondered why that was.

jimmyk

JiB, that was Iggy who made the comment. I don't claim to be an expert on the Kurds, but I know that historically they've been friendly toward Israel (and vice-versa), as well as to the US, but they've been screwed over so many times that I wouldn't be surprised if those feelings are a bit more ambivalent these days.

The Infamous Ignatz

--What do you know about the Kurds?--

What do you think I said about the Kurds? I just said it wasn't a very high bar to be the good guys in the ME.
My brother lived with them for some time, back when he was semi sane, and said they and Iranians were the nicest people he met round the world and having been to 120+ countries he may be the only person I know who has been to more places than you, Jack.
They're still muslims, which IMO is a problem for them and us.

Sorry to have set you off, but it's gotten kind of hard to know what might do it.

matt - deplore me if you must

The Turks have a history of genocide and repression. Mom had me read 40 Days of the Musa Dagh when I was 10 or so. The Kurds are more secular than many of the players in the area, but the PKK and Turks have been at it for 40-50 years.

And no one should forget that Saddam gassed them on several occasions. They have been peaceful and there have been far fewer sectarian killings in Kurdish Iraq than the rest of the country.

It is a low bar, but it's the only bar we got.

daddy

Fascinating a cut & paste would be a century off. ;)

It was this page from This Day In History: Lincoln Removes McClellan

Scroll down to the 3rd Paragraph, 4ths sentence: On September 17, 1962, McClellan and Lee battled to a standstill...

I rest my case, unless I'm in a Courtroom with any Judge overseeing a Mueller Case in which case I s'pose I'm up shit creek without a paddle regardless:(

GUS

Daddy, I was born very very near Antietam. HAGERSTOWN. I have walked the battlefield many times. In fact, I have a portrait of LINCOLN and McClellan, semi-colorized (OLD GLORY) at Antietam.
Lincoln did what he had to do. Lincoln was COMMANDER in CHIEF. The COMMANDER in CHIEF, does not answer to the RANCID, disgusting, NANCY BOY, FULL COMMIE. The CIC, does not answer to the HOWLING RACE BAITING CLOWNS and LIBTARD INDOCTRINATED buffoons, no does the PRESIDENT answer to the INFECTED SWAMP. The PRESIDENT answers to the ELECTORATE.

I walked the Antietam/Sharpsburg battled a couple of years ago. It was amazing to see the topography and the lay of the land at each of the major clash points.

The Dunker Church, the Cornfield, the Sunken Field, Burnside's crossing of the bridge. One could clearly see the tactical advantages of each side (usually the Confederates) in each location. The Cornfield changed hands 15 times. Imagine the carnage.

What amazed me was Burnsides attack against the Confederate right and A.P. Hill's magnificent defense. The hill is substantial and it must have been a bloody hell on the order of Fredericksburg to charge up against those rebel lines.

henry

Thanks Matt. Gettysburg was still farmland around the key spots (eg the Round Tops, Pickett’s charge), with preserved homes in town when we went in 70.

Pinandpuller

If any more quotes get misattributed the New York Times is going to hold a JOM Job Fair.

Narciso79

Hettsyburg would be considered the midway or guadalcanal in this scenario?

Kevlar Kid

How are the Hoosiers lookin this year, Bubarooni?

daddy

always amazed at how many victorians are still standing in both Oaktown and on the Island.

Yeah, Alameda has a lot of really beautiful old houses that survived the quake. Ours was one of about 8 cookie cutter types, all built in I think 1909, that was just 2 blocks down from Krolls, where across the street at Neptune Beach they used to have biggest outdoor swimming pool in the world and also World Championship Boxing Matches back in the day.

World Champ Boxing from the old days reminds me that my GG Grandfather was from the sad Irish berg of Kiltimagh, (County Mayo) which is famous for 2 things:

1) Home Town of Gene Tunney, champion Irish-American boxer, and

2) A horrible economy for going on 300 years now: ...in the 2011 census. Of its 858 houses, 205 – or almost a quarter – were listed as vacant.

Kevlar Kid

i agree with the Bulge comparison, henry.

after G-burg it was like Foote says about the War: "it became a mathematical equation, and Grant whipped Bobby Lee."

henry

Kev, I had a good teacher. ;)

Kevlar Kid

i'm so glad Khalil Mack got his money and he's going deep in the playoffs.

more than anything i am glad Mack will become the next defensive legend in an NFL city based on its love for defense.

bubarooni

They possess a shiny record Kev but... they need a real big man patrolling the paint, especially now that the Big 10 season is in full swing.

They have some real talent though. Romeo Langford is the real deal but he's probably 'one and done'. Juwan Morgan could be the best 6' 8" guy in the country.

Kevlar Kid

Wasn't the Battle of Sharpsburg (Antietam) the one where Northern forces had come into the battle plans of the Confederacy prior to the engagement?

and it still came to more or less a draw--- depending on whom one reads and subscribes to on the matter.

GUS

Kev, you are aware that John Matusczak was MRS.GUS'S cousin from MILWAUKEE???

Kevlar Kid

henry--- should i succeed with my WI invasion plans and we get to set on your deck for an hour or three, i'd like to hear some stories about that "teacher" of yours! :-) kev

Kevlar Kid

Yes, GUS, it is a key fact i recall when i bask in admiration of you and your clan. Tuz was the real deal.

One thing about the Tuz was his campaign to win the World's Strongest Man competition. He nearly did on a diet of vodka and other supplements with nary a month of training in advance. He was unstoppable on the gridiron. The Old Raiders.

Kevlar Kid

thanks for the update on IU, Bubarooni.

As the Wall debate continues...need to look at the connection between open borders, the 2020 census & redistricting. Illegals cannot vote—but they are (somehow!) counted for the # of House reps per state. No wonder the Left puts SANCTUARY STATES & open borders before US citizens.
