One thing that hasn't been discussed much relating to immigration is the impact on public schools. Here is a detailed article on numbers of immigrant children in schools and the numbers who speak a foreign language.

Just skimming this, you can see that the schools of the Southwest and certain larger cities in the Northeast face real problems in educating kids. How many teachers now need to provide teachers who speak Spanish, not to mention other languages? What about books and study materials? English as a second language instructors?

This is not only a financial and logistics nightmare for the schools, but it marginalizes native-born kids.

Old Lurker

MM, nobody will talk about that, nor will they talk about the correlation of where IQs in the US are in decline and where they are not, ditto public health statistics. Like with all things Dem...declining stats in education is because they need more money, and declining stats in health statistics is because they need more money. Nobody bothers to check on the underlying changes in the demographics of the pool itself.

This is really eye-opening. Recommend reading.

Well Charles Murray still has the singe Mark's on his jacket to show for his trouble, but as rse has pointed out there is less and less actual facts been taught,

Old Lurker

Hey Jimmy, have you hired a moving van yet?

"New York City will begin guaranteeing comprehensive health care to every single resident regardless of someone's ability to pay or immigration status, an unprecedented plan that will protect the more than half a million New Yorkers currently using the ER as a primary provider, Mayor de Blasio said Tuesday.

It's not health insurance, his spokesman clarified after the surprise announcement on MSNBC.

"This is the city paying for direct comprehensive care (not just ERs) for people who can't afford it, or can't get comprehensive Medicaid -- including 300,000 undocumented New Yorkers," spokesman Eric Phillips tweeted.

"This has never been done in the country in a comprehensive way," de Blasio said on MSNBC. "Health care isn't just a right in theory, it must be a right in practice. And we're doing that here in this city."

Old Lurker

Yes Charles Murray proved what Cap'n was saying about whistle blowers.

MM-it's worse than that because Equity mandates coupled to Diversity and Inclusion mean that the focus of schools cannot be academics in the traditional sense because the differences in life experiences do affect abilities. Much of what people become is epigenetic--grounded in experience.

Yet all students can role play and be forced to come to a common understanding of a given issue or problem. How many of these mysterious polio like illness is being spread by inclusive, diverse schools with an emphasis on group work?

To go along with the link from Legal Insurrection at 9:29, ChiTown Lurker sent me a link where DeBlasio has announced that New York City will guarantee comprehensive health care to every resident.

From the Twitter account of the mayor's press secretary:

Breaking news: Mayor tells @Morning_Joe & @WillieGeist that NYC will begin guaranteeing comprehensive health care to every resident, regardless of someone’s ability pay or immigration status. There are 600k uninsured in New York City right now.

Good Morning, JOM.

OL-that nyc plan fits with this https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2019/1/7/18137967/er-bills-zuckerberg-san-francisco-general-hospital where the only trauma center in SF, a public hospital, considers all private insurance to be out of network and subject to balance billing.

These mayors and governors are simply implementing the UN SDGs by 2030 program regardless of who controls congress and the white house.

It's like that movie, wild in the streets they have gone absolutely mad

Old Lurker,

I just told ChiTown I expected a lot of economic refugees relocating to Indiana!!

Murray was just a researcher, not a whistleblower.

Old Lurker

"Murray was just a researcher, not a whistleblower."

Proving your point about facts being anti-matter these days.

Old Lurker

MM, we can't even get ChiTown out of IL, so he won't even know what an economic refugee is!

(Says the guy who has houses in MD and MA...)

That's like moving from the stove to the microwave,,well Hogan is kind of an improvement.

Jim, I saw a story yesterday about the sharp increase in gun ownership in Europe.

Re company whistleblowers in the modern era you have gerecht (who initially published under a pen name) baer whose kind of crazy, and Ishmael Jones, now this was before twitter.

re the dairy and other foods discussion.

cow's milk straight from the udder is a different concoction than what can be bought at the store.

my doctor's 30 plus years of research on the effects of "industrial milk" on contributing to insulin resistance among specific blood types and metabolic signatures is conclusive enough to show how type 2 diabetics are better off not consuming it.

the ingredient "caseinate" that is added to industrial milk is also a culprit in the weakening of red blood cells, the shortening of their lifespan, and compromise of mitochondrial DNA.

plenty of good old fashioned "science" has been going on under the radar of corporate and government funded "assurance" scientific studies.

no health claims can be made of course under the threat of imprisonment as my doctor, and many other scientists, have had to avoid for decades.

certain foods benefit some metabolic types. what's pretty clear about the industrialized foods system is the products are bereft of immune system affirming trace nutrients and minerals.

cancer rates, and 163 other common disease rates among the general population make that simple fact difficult to ignore.

where the big lie occurs is when we succumb to one of those 164 diseases it's referred to as "natural causes." oh well.

how boring.

rse "...where the only trauma center in SF, a public hospital, considers all private insurance to be out of network and subject to balance billing..."

Was just talking about that with my daughter.

Dr. YL2 and her fiance are both at the point in their Residencies where they have settled on specialties and are applying for the Fellowships that come next. They are both top candidates and both hope to have some choices. Of course they both want to land on the best programs they can get and of course in the same city.

The trouble is that programs that used to be be at the tippy tops, like in NYC or in SF, are leading the packs in the race down the slide to socialized medicine and all that portends.

Another insidious plague the Fed creates through easy money is the magical thinking of these dumbass prog shitbirds like Gavin Newsome.
Asset bubbles disproportionately "benefit" enclaves that are already extremely wealthy. The fake tax revenue generated by the bubbles is used to finance pie in the sky prog schemes. When reality intrudes, as it did in 2000 and 2008 the progs know they only have to wait for the fed to rescue us from that nasty old market discipline be reflating the asset bubbles.
They think reality is the unsustainable phony wealth generation of easy money when in reality, reality is those massive corrections the market tries to impose on the Fed's increasing insanity.
The longer the Fed accommodates and facilitates these fantasies the larger the bitter pill will be when public employee pensions and public healthcare and the rest of the welfare state comes crashing down around their ears.

Hey, daddy. We’re running the story today about your moose visiting the inside of an Anchorage hospital, munching on greenery in the lounge after the outside door was stuck open because of the cold.

the porous southern border is key to some thriving businesses which own our elected officials.

you know what those businesses are. i won't belabor here.

for a moment, put the debacle of our major ports into the border/illegal migrant equation.

Hezbollah and Hamas infiltrate the country via safe harbor in Venezuela. meanwhile, arms shipments through our own Port of Oakland make into the country.

i believe it was in 2004 "just" 20,000 Kalishnikovs were seized at the Port. people i know who are longshoremen at the Port say that is NOTHING compared to what's "getting through" undetected.

yes, search tech has improved... but the sheer volume of what comes through the Port make it difficult to make substantial improvements that would collar more of the human network that make things happen.

the corruption on the inside which screens the movements of small arms (and not so small) is also enormous.

POTUS hasn yet to speak of this part of the illegal migration equation. but with over 50,000 muslims living in the "Fremont area" just south of here, it is very much on our minds.

the hot civil war some say is imminent will include much more than kicking ass on twink snowflakes and their handlers---- jihad lays in wait. sheriff deputies now retired in southern alameda county who are my high school compatriots say that southern alameda county will be one big "no go" zone when the shooting starts.

Isn't casein pretty much what milk is made of right out the teat?

Carolyn glick is running for the Knesset on the new right party banner

Hah! Years ago I met her dad in Palm Beach when she was there for a Horowitz gathering. IIRC he lives in Shitcago. Anyway, I specifically asked him if she would ever go into politics and he gave me a side glance with a snarky response that she was too bright and straight up to wrestle with the political pigs. I was trying to indirectly compliment her, given her wonderfully clear writing.

the Cloward-Pivens strategy is in effect re universal health care.

states and major cities will implement policies requiring billion$ to sustain. once the mess collapses their unfunded liabilities schemes they'll petition for some kind of federal bailout.

so long as the money presses continue to print worthless dollars, the federalies will have their "just cause" to step in and then legislate accordingly.

the pony is out of the barn and 50 miles down the road. ObamaCare did its job.

OL's gun ownership in Europe article:

I'm frankly surprised that I seem to be an outlying point on feeling this way.

I don't really know the whole Chad Joy story, but I stipulated that it's 'risky.' So I'm not really disagreeing. But the Carmen Segarra case I cited shows that there's an up side. Probably depends on the person and the situation.

Much of what people become is epigenetic--grounded in experience.

So our future security is in the hands of boys being grounded by freaks and twisted little queers.

Double check the Jameson stock on The Ledge.

It's a risky strategy, Maria elvira who is her Latin analog debated whether to run for the district that the homunculus now occupies, she had a rough primary.

Glick feels disappointed in the Likud, and hence this new right party which is like the independence party or ciudadanos offers the best option for her.

Buckeye "Double check the Jameson stock on The Ledge."

Buckeye, my approach to stocking booze on the Ledge is a lot like investors who dollar cost average down by buying more shares in companies they own as the stock price falls.

I maintained my historical buying pattern for Ledge Booze even as the need for the Ledge seemed to diminish with the rise of Trump.

Stick with Eeyore. He has your Jameson requirement covered. Trust me on that.

Maybe if Grandpas had spent some time trying to teach his grandson basic life lessons, like "don't break into other people's homes," the kid wouldn't have gotten himself shot.

Just a thought.
