Morning all, I was going back to those daily caller pieces and it turns out stone was telling the truth, it was credico who was dealing with the purloined documents
From the thread last night, TK's important question. I offer a detailed, delimited answer.
+++++ "Until a majority of them speak up, I have no idea what they think. Is the Nathan Phillips event the type of think they should be speaking out about?"
TK:
please allow me first to qualify the following remarks--- offered in the spirit of civil discussion, not as rationalization, enablement, justification or endorsement of anything Phillips has taken upon himself to say or do at the Linc-Mem; and, certainly not giving a pass to his egregious misuse of spiritual medicine because of the circumstances of his life.
in total Phillips' behavior over time is at cross-purposes with the intentions of the spiritually fit among "us", who assign the responsibility to direct spiritual medicine in care of our people(s).
i make no claim to speak for all injun people everywhere.
in no way do i make any claim to be some kind of select individual over others.
my words are informed by a responsibility to accurately speak of traditions, to a point, which shares my limited understanding of what *MIGHT,* in all liklihood, be transpiring in various Circles which JOMers might not be a part of in any significant way.
1. being smeared by American media is something injuns are quite familiar with for many years.
2. whites were warned over and over and over again "If it can happen to us, then it will happen to you."
if Omaha People were to speak out individually there would likely be some "toldja so" in there, or "color us shocked at what's happening."
3. between the corruption issues faced by select Omaha Tribal Council members and day-to-day survival by reservation injun families, the politics of the Linc-Memorial incident are pretty far down the list of who needs to be "speaking out" about what.
4. with BIA and FBI strangleholds on every federally-recognized tribal council politics and process, tribal leadership is cautious about its commentaries to the press.
5. From a NE newspaper article 19 years ago about Phillips' activism: "Back in Nebraska, Omaha tribal Chairman Elmer Blackbird did not return calls seeking comment about Phillips' vigil.
Privately, another tribal leader said Phillips is regarded back in Nebraska as a well-intentioned brother struggling to cope with a troubled childhood. The leader said the Omaha Tribe generally avoids the type of activism Phillips prefers.
"He's just trying to find his way," the leader said. "Let him find it."
Attn pilots and aeorospace engineers! Not sure if anyone else has posted this yet (I’m always behind on JOM *sigh*) but this Daily Mail story has video of the plane crash. The fuselage can clearly be seen doing this violent flexing along its length so that it arches up and slams the cockpit into the runway while the center top of the plane breaks apart. What the heck forces could cause the plane to break up in this way?
Kev--perhaps the search engines block any such thing, but when I search "Condemn" and "Nathan Phillips" all I get is a whole lot of condemnation of the Covington boys and praise and support for the "Native American elder" Phillips.
Has any Native American tribe, spokesperson or representative publicly called out Phillips as a liar?*
If not--why shouldn't the rest of us be inclined to ignore and disregard whatever give credence to anything the "tribal leaders" put out? To me they have no more moral authority than that wussy bishop in Kentucky.
*You have clearly acknowledged that Phillips is and was in the wrong, but you are not a public spokesperson or representative.
Why should the Aboriginal Americans even interact with the MFM after they underreported the EPA releasing toxins in a Navaho river and certainly didn't hold anyone's feet to the fire?
We are not even into February and the cost of illegal immigration so far this year is $18,959,495,168. Cost Friday was $603,331,392. There are at least 25,772,342 illegal aliens, not the 11,000,000 that have been reported for years, in our Country. So ridiculous! DHS

Maybe they don't consider it that big of a deal, which it isn't. This is some pseudo event that the MFM tried to conflate into something that it wasn't, not unlike the Saint Traytable story which was based on lies.
I can certainly understand the attitude "why is this important to us?" if that's what the indigenous Americans are thinking.
Why would the lawless, migrant caravan not take the Red route to the Hildago PoE in TX, ~1,300 miles, instead of traveling an extra ~ 1,400 miles to the San Ysidro PoE? 2 reasons;
1) CA is a sanctuary state w/ many sanctuary cities, L A, San Fran, etc.
I can certainly understand the attitude "why is this important to us?" if that's what the indigenous Americans are thinking.
If having an Indigenous Peoples rally is important to them for the purposes of letting the rest of us know the truths abut them and their culture, I would think they wouldn't want a liar capturing the front page.
I'm obviously not the NTSB, MM, but the Backfire buckled, IMO, because they hit the runway too hard and exceeded the design limits of the fuselage's strength. Since the nose gear was in the air, as it should be when landing, the fuselage had too much room to buckle before there was any support for the nose.
The engines sounded as though they were functioning properly but they did not seem to match the plane's position on landing. Almost certainly the pilot misjudged his height above the runway because of the snow storm and made contact sooner than he thought he would.
It buckled because there is only so much strength that can be incorporated into a thin aluminum tube that supports hundreds of thousands of pounds and is moving at a fairly high rate of speed. And it is not unknown for Russian constructors to cut corners.
Remember for decades how the Dems always scoffed at anyone who said they were really socialists at heart or they were really trying to normalize every perversion known to man and drug use and really wanted to ban gun ownership and outlaw speech they disagreed with and hated God and Christians?
In some ways it's very rewarding to have lived long enough to see them finally drop the mask and reveal their inner Trotskys.
Maybe I'm missing something, but we raise holy hell when the media goes running to other republicans to demand they condemn whatever the media wants them to condemn and they do, but y'all are butthurt over the lack of condemnation by other indians for the actions of Phillips?
Not me. I consider Philips to have been acting as an individual.
I personally doubt that he is very active in anything his tribal council does, and has apparently made a nice living as an actor and subsidized activist for quite a few years.
I'm not feeling any butt pain, but I still question whether the tribe supports the scumbag's actions, since they haven't commented. Just wondering how he gets paid back for the smears, since he's apparently too destitute to be sued, and I thought a condemnation by the real tribal elders might suffice. So far it's just crickets from what I've seen, though.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)--An independent Baptist church famous for its hate-filled protests is back in the news, and one Southern Baptist leader wants to make clear to the public that the church has no affiliation with the Southern Baptist Convention.
...
Westboro has received so much national attention the past decade that Baptist Press published a special story in 2003, "Night & day: The difference between Southern Baptists & Fred Phelps," which included an interview with Phelps himself and Southern Baptists who were critical of Westboro's beliefs. That story led to Westboro picketing outside the offices of the quoted individuals, including Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary President R. Philip Roberts, who had told Baptist Press, "Southern Baptists ought to take it as a badge of honor that he would boycott [us]."
Other Southern Baptist leaders have gone on record opposing Westboro's actions. In 2007 Southern Baptist ethicist Richard Land -- referencing the protesting of military funerals -- wrote a Baptist Press column calling the church "fanatical" and accusing it of practicing "verbal terrorism."
I am going to guess that metal fatigue had a part in that crash as well. Russian maintenance is abominable and that type have been flying for a long time now. Hate to think what the Bears are like. We do a lot of X-rays of our aircraft but every now and the a wing falls off or there is another disaster.
cathyf, there is a gauge in every cockpit that measures vertical speed. It is basically how fast and hard you hit the runway.
Typically, as the pilot gets to the last few feet of altitude, he pulls back on the stick to stall the plane out so that the vertical speed is almost nil, greasing the plane lightly onto the runway.
In the snow, the pilot misjudged where the runway was likely had no time left to bleed off airspeed. His main landing gear hit the runway like a hammer. Not pretty.
The 1/23 statement from the tribe's facebook page absolves Nathan Phillips, who was heroically attempted to diffuse the situation with the Black Israelites, just as Phillips dishonestly claimed.
They also say "Wi'btha'hon," thanking him for showing the world what it means to be a true Omaha.
Mueller having complete control over all intelligence documents is the only thing that makes sense on why they haven't been declassified and released by now *and* why Horowitz and Huber haven't made any progress to date
How exactly does Mueller have complete control over all intelligence documents from two completely separate investigations?
You pick your successor, weaponize the FBI, DOJ, & IRS against the opponent. You control 90% of the media. You have 2X the ad budget. You collude with foreign powers against the challenger, & you lose to a billionaire you claim is beneath you.
========================================
Kurt Schlichter says this is why Obama is looking so haggard these days.
At Mass this morning our Pastor called out Andrew Cuomo
for the passing and celebration of the Reproductive Health Act.
He then went after Cardinal Dolan for his weak response.
Reminding the Cardinal about the sanctity of life.
He wasn’t done yet, then called out Bishop Foys for his
degrading comments and rush to judgment regarding the
Covington kids.
Tied it all together with the bishops and their past mistakes.
Sundance is correct that would explain the lack of progress (perceived) by Horowitz/Huber. However I think the entire premise is based on a false conclusion. I don't see any legal mechanism that would allow Mueller to prevent Horowitz/Huber from conducting their investigation. If he is actually doing that then it also means Rosenstein is authorizing Mueller to thwart Horowitz/Huber.
Of course there is another plausible explanation and that is Mueller and Horowitz/Huber are working together sharing evidence and intel on the criminal activity of the Obama administration and their investigations will wrap up around the same time.
And a third explanation: Mueller and Horowitz/Huber are working to sanitize all evidence and protect deep state. The lack of indictments it totally consistent with this. (Remember, Horowitz/Huber are Obama appointee holdovers).
Steph, you have a point, but this is mainly about the MSM's lies and piling on the kids, while protecting Phillips. It is a fact, though, that Republicans are very quick to condemn fellow Republicans even before the facts are established, while the left just closes ranks. The result is perpetration of the big lies, like the one about Trump condoning white supremacy at Charlottesville.
What could Rosenstein have to do with it at this point? Whitaker is in charge now.
I had read somewhere a few weeks back that despite Whitaker's appointment as acting AG Rosenstein was still overseeing Mueller due to some legal technicality. If that is incorrect and Whitaker is in control of Mueller, then that would just mean Whitaker is authorizing Mueller to thwart Horowitz/Huber.
Of course there is another plausible explanation and that is Mueller and Horowitz/Huber are working together sharing evidence and intel on the criminal activity of the Obama administration and their investigations will wrap up around the same time.
If that was the case it would be one of the most elaborate and well hidden stings ever. I just don't see any evidence of it other than DJT saying everything would come out at the right time.
How many leaks have their been from both the Mueller SC and the Horowitz/Huber investigations? AFAIK the number is close to zero. IMO that is unprecedented in Washington DC.
OK. Using your logic if Mueller was trying to destroy Trump the lack of leaks of anything damaging to Trump is a sign that he isn't actually trying to destroy Trump right?
Henry:
I like your third explanationabout the clean- up and cover- up perpetrated by Mueller, Huber and Horowitz.
Remember those lost or destroyed texts or emails between Page and Strzok .
Part of the clean-up.
They are however looking for a scapegoat or two.
People going down in my opinion:
McCabe, who already senses they want him as a fall guy
Comey: Because both sides know he is a sleazy piece of crap
Strzok: Because he is expendable and creepy
Brennan: Because President Trump really dislikes him, he is a communit and his security clearance is gone and he instigated the whole dossier kerfuffle.
Rice will get hers but Powers won’t because she already blamed others.
Yatesno ditto for Priestap.
Bruce Ohr- no wife- maybe
Hillary- yes wrt Clinton Foundation - probably a fine and return some money to Russia
Obama- no too protected by plausible deniability.
That quote of Nathan Phillips on his picture is pretty funny in a couple of ways.
"We never had a prison."
Many parts of North America were incredibly violent and slavery was fairly common, the slaves consisting mostly of captives taken in the frequent tribal warfare. The tribe was the prison to those unlucky enough to be captured.
"This is indigenous land. You're not supposed to have walls here. We never did for a millennia."
We're supposed to take the fate of Native Americans as an example of how unwise it is to have walls? Not sure he has quite thought this one through all the way.
Mueller in my mind isn’t working on convicting Obama in any way shape or form.
Because he worked for Obama and is involved in Uranium he is protecting or covering for Obama and probably Hillary too.
Wray needs to be fired, Barr bump up, Whitaker strengthened and Rosenstein resign.
Meet Irena Sendler: The Polish woman who saved 2,500 Jewish children During the Holocaust, she was the driving force behind a critical operation, saving the lives of 2,500 Jewish children by smuggling them out of the Warsaw Ghetto.pic.twitter.com/5bPZl3SR0z
I don’t know why it took me so long to come up with a solution to the problem in Venezuela as it’s completely obvious. Immediately send the people with all the answers to Maduro. Send Nancy Alzheimer, Crying Chuck, Occasional Cortex and the Oracle of Inglewood (Mad Max herself) down to Venezuela with orders not to come back until it’s fixed. Maduro will capitulate, or we’ll get lucky and see the delegation in chains. Either way it’s a win.
Mueller is leaking like a sieve. That it turns out to not damage Trump except by innuendo is why he keeps looking for anything he can add to his “impeach Trump” report, which I expect early October 2020.
Henry:
Also true!
Mueller wants President Trump’s head on a pike.
Why the continued badgering about in person testimony?
People need to wake up and smell the coffee.I will make it easy:
Phillips:- very bad damaged guy
Mueller:In last hurrah fashion trying to establish a legacy as a person who toppled a president: misguided bad guy
Brennan: really bad guy
Pelosi: really demented bad woman
Schumer:schmucky loser who cries a lot and throws tantrums which he then attributes to our President. Liar
Rosenstein: out for number one himself, would wear a wire if he thought he could advance from it.
McCabe: one whose comeuppance is very nearly here
Cohen :
lying piece of crap who of everyone deserves the jail time.
Manafort: criminal who thought he was in the clear only to get nailed later because he helped Trump.
Mistreated by Mueller and thugs
Weissmann : the dog that hasn’t barked.
Charges will be brought but slap on the wrist.
So the Stone arrest is the only example you have to back up your point?
How many leaks come from things that don’t exist?
I think your logic reinforces the notion that since there have been no leaks for the entirety of the SC investigation that are damaging to Trump, that is a clear indication that Mueller isn't going after Trump.
These requests for links and all that garbage annoys me.
I do not need a link or someone else’s bloviating opinion.
I use common sense and Occam’s razor as my guide.
If so it must not have helped since the guy was convicted of first degree murder not long ago.
Maybe he didn't have a good attorney or maybe he was just guilty period. Or maybe the jury was a bunch of illiterate Virginians. And maybe anything about the organizer was inadmissible.
But if the attorney was competent he'd have a file on the organizer.
Ext--thanks for the info. I think I was relying on a twitter post--perhaps poorly remembered--that it came from Brazil. Nevertheless as the Flanagan account show this was clearly a set up job.I think to disparage the March for Live and Trump supporters.

I don't get it.
Posted by: Stephanie Nene Not Your Normal Granma | January 27, 2019 at 11:17 AM
Stephanie,
Not me. I consider Philips to have been acting as an individual.
I personally doubt that he is very active in anything his tribal council does, and has apparently made a nice living as an actor and subsidized activist for quite a few years.
Posted by: MissMarple2 | January 27, 2019 at 11:20 AM
The media has run to Phillips. That is what you are missing.
The media also ran to Fred Phelps and made him a representative of Christianity.
Maybe Christians didn't speak up then, I'd have to go check.
Posted by: Threadkiller | January 27, 2019 at 11:24 AM
I'm not feeling any butt pain, but I still question whether the tribe supports the scumbag's actions, since they haven't commented. Just wondering how he gets paid back for the smears, since he's apparently too destitute to be sued, and I thought a condemnation by the real tribal elders might suffice. So far it's just crickets from what I've seen, though.

I drew a distinction between overzealous activist lacking restraint and zealot destroyer of young men who are white or Trump supporters or both.
I read Kev saying ... as the 2nd, Nathan will reap what he has sown.
I also read the tribe as acknowledging only activist driven to civil disobedience.
Which falls short IMO but then again that's probably all they can be certain of, and as Steph notes it's not our place to ask for more of them.
There is a multitude from whom we can demand more.
Much more.

Posted by: boatbuilder | January 27, 2019 at 11:49 AM
cathyf, there is a gauge in every cockpit that measures vertical speed.
Not pretty.

Mueller having complete control over all intelligence documents is the only thing that makes sense on why they haven't been declassified and released by now *and* why Horowitz and Huber haven't made any progress to date
How exactly does Mueller have complete control over all intelligence documents from two completely separate investigations?

CH @ 12:05
Posted by: Tom R | January 27, 2019 at 12:13 PM
What could Rosenstein have to do with it at this point? Whitaker is in charge now.
Posted by: Extraneus | January 27, 2019 at 12:15 PM
And a third explanation: Mueller and Horowitz/Huber are working to sanitize all evidence and protect deep state. The lack of indictments it totally consistent with this. (Remember, Horowitz/Huber are Obama appointee holdovers).
Posted by: henry | January 27, 2019 at 12:17 PM
Steph, you have a point, but this is mainly about the MSM's lies and piling on the kids, while protecting Phillips. It is a fact, though, that Republicans are very quick to condemn fellow Republicans even before the facts are established, while the left just closes ranks. The result is perpetration of the big lies, like the one about Trump condoning white supremacy at Charlottesville.
Posted by: jimmyk | January 27, 2019 at 12:17 PM
What could Rosenstein have to do with it at this point? Whitaker is in charge now.
I had read somewhere a few weeks back that despite Whitaker's appointment as acting AG Rosenstein was still overseeing Mueller due to some legal technicality. If that is incorrect and Whitaker is in control of Mueller, then that would just mean Whitaker is authorizing Mueller to thwart Horowitz/Huber.
Posted by: Tom R | January 27, 2019 at 12:20 PM
Of course there is another plausible explanation and that is Mueller and Horowitz/Huber are working together sharing evidence and intel on the criminal activity of the Obama administration and their investigations will wrap up around the same time.

I think that is also Stephanie's point.

But okay, you can't call the elephant a distraction without talking about the elephant so there's that to confuse the issue.

OK. Using your logic if Mueller was trying to destroy Trump the lack of leaks of anything damaging to Trump is a sign that he isn't actually trying to destroy Trump right?
Posted by: Tom R | January 27, 2019 at 12:39 PM

Posted by: Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki | January 27, 2019 at 12:44 PM
Mueller in my mind isn’t working on convicting Obama in any way shape or form.
Because he worked for Obama and is involved in Uranium he is protecting or covering for Obama and probably Hillary too.
Wray needs to be fired, Barr bump up, Whitaker strengthened and Rosenstein resign.
Posted by: D | January 27, 2019 at 12:46 PM
So we now know this about the Obama Indians:
a) They knowingly allow a complete and proven lie to stay on their web page, praising the liar as their representative.
b) Although they're from Nebraska, they oppose the border wall.
c) They mock the MAGA slogan.
In other words, they're Democrats, and should be treated as political actors and opponents.
I'm ok with that. Better to see people for who they are than to romanticize them based on idealized notions of the noble savage, in this case.

Henry:

How many leaks come from things that don’t exist?
I think your logic reinforces the notion that since there have been no leaks for the entirety of the SC investigation that are damaging to Trump, that is a clear indication that Mueller isn't going after Trump.
